Is is possible to root my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 without using a computer? Towelroot doesn't work on it and I tried kingoroot and it work but as soon as I restarted my phone I ran into the locked bootloader issue and was disabled from doing anything in my phone until I had someone flash a stock firmware version onto my phone.
You may have to Odin back to stock firmware first. Then you will need to follow the directions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2272066 . The stock Verizon kernels will do that when you root your phone.
After you follow the steps in the video you will be fine. Also I do not remember if this install trwp recovery. I will tell you every 4.2 /4.4 and 5.x.x rom I flashed would either not flash and error our or would not boot will on that recovery. Install a Clockwork Mod recovery and you will be fine.
Let us know how this goes for you.

Hi,
I am unsure about how to flash a ROM on to my phone.
I have already rooted it and installed a insecure kernel using Odin and the Samsung Quick Root tool (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414). :victory:
I am still running the insecure kernel that I flashed with Odin, and did not install CWM as I do not know what to do.
ROM Manager is installed on the phone but I don't think CWM is actually installed.
Currently, I want to install the F1 Galaxy Nexus ICS ROM. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1601518)
All I want to know is do I need to install CWM, and how to install and flash the ROM to my phone.
The exact model of my phone is i1900-XWLPI.
Thanks.
Hi.
Yes you need cwm.
How to install Rom always be a guide in thread...
Send form Galaxy S2. Using XDA Premium
I was following a guide on it.
Now I am worried
I think it is bricked as it is stuck on the yellow triangle screen.
I don't have a jig and I NEED IT WORKING.:crying:
Ok I managed to get it to go in to d/l mode and flashed kernel back to the one I had earlier.
I think I'll just leave it for today and try another time.
Too much happened today and I don't want to risk a permanent brick.
I have a Galaxy S3 from Verizon on 4.3. Right now im trying to install clockwork recovery with Odin. Buy Odin fails every time. I mean EVERY time! It stops right at the end for anything i try to do. Then says fail. Can someone Please help?
VZW S3s have a locked bootloader. You should not be attempting to install CWM via Odin on 4.3, especially. You must root and use SafeStrap Recovery.

Device: AT&T Galaxy S III (SGH-I747) Rooted
ROM: Cyanogenmod 11
I have had my phone rooted and running a custom ROM for a few months now and I have decided that I no longer want to run a custom ROM. I looked up how to go back to stock ROM and everything said to: wipe cache and do a factory reset, download latest stock ROM off of Samsung's firmware website and flash the ROM from Odin. Every time that I did this, it would always fail even if i tried to install from recovery mode. I tried a few more times and it still didn't work. One post said that it was because TWRP, i downloaded and installed the stock recovery (which was the only successful install) and the other installs still didn't work through odin or recovery mode.
Is there anything that I am doing wrong, am I leaving a step out, or is something just flat out wrong with my device?
Assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Okay, So the title pretty much says it all. I am stuck at the Samsung boot logo (not bootanimation) and it only shows for about 1 second then reboots and continues.
This started after I tried to flash a rom and it messed up and I tried to flash via odin. I was on MJ9 and and got a bootloop so I did the odin thing. I've used odin before but it is not working well for me now.
I am able to boot into download mode but TWRP no longer works. I was able to flash via odin and it says success but the phone does not reboot like it should.
I have purchased a galaxy nexus on the cheap to hold me over until the nexus 6 is out but if I can fix my note, I would like to.
I know there were other threads about this same issue but it seems that they are all on a different version of the note, or on a s3 or something. Not to mention, I don't see anything that I could try without asking for some help on here. Can someone maybe point me in the direction of the factory firmware (preferably a rootable or already rooted version) that I can flash that will play well with my note.
Thanks guys!!!

Before you tried to flash a custom ROM and things went wonky...were you on Verizon's factory stock 4.3 MJ9 firmware, or on Beanstown106’s modified 4.3 MJ9 with TWRP installed?
Does the phone still boot into stock recovery? If so, you may be able to fix the phone by doing a factory reset.

If you were on Verizon's factory stock 4.3 MJ9, then you won't be able to Odin flash back to 4.1.2 or any earlier Android version because the bootloader has been locked down tight on 4.3 (and 4.4.2) with no current do it yourself method to unlock for those newer versions. You would want to restore the phone back to factory stock 4.3 though, if that's what version you were on before your phone got messed up. You can root the phone on 4.3 with saferoot, then use safestrap recovery to flash some custom Touchwiz ROM's.
If you were on the 4.1.2 based bootloader, (but running Beanstown106’s MJ9 firmware and TWRP), then you would want to restore your phone back to factory stock 4.1.2 and then root and unlock the bootloader again with CASUAL. This would give you the most flexibility with flashing custom kernels, ROM's, etc...
Check out Section 1b in Droidstyle's restore guide at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34891181. The guide has download links for the files you'll need to restore the phone back to the correct build version.
Hello guys, i tried to root my G925F using the howto without tripping KNOX.
First i flashed the engineering Bootloader without any error messages in Odin. AFter that i flashed TWRP from the Thread and from there on the phone doesn't boot anymore, only the splash screen appears and nothing further. I tried to install lower versions of the TWRP. 2.8.6 , the stock recovery, other bootloaders....nothing.
My phone does not boot anymore.
Is there any hope i don't need to throw it away? Dammit i bought it yesterday and in the Thread was written it works with 5.0.2 AND 5.1.1 but it doesn't work with 5.0.2.
What can i do? If maybe try to flash a stock rom ? I am really desperate, yesterday my Galaxy ALPHA died and now this..
1. try using twrp 2.8.6.1 flashed through odin
if that doesn't work then
2. download kies 3 and then plug your device in, go to tools at the top and then firmware upgrade and initialisation, enter sm-g925f in the model number and then when it asks for your serial number then enter it from the back of the phone. (its in really faint writing) then follow the onscreen instructions
should sort it out
see at the people that flashed it on 5.0.2 it works..
you are sure having 5.0.2 because if you have 5.1.1 it will not boot if you not flash the kernel and the supersu
you can enter recovery..?
