Hi,
I'm unable to encrypt the phone as I'm rooted running a custom rom. The phone just reboots and doesn't encrypt. I've tried to get clarification as to why it won't encrypt but I'm left in limbo.
Is there any other ways I can encrypt the device or what apps can provide security to the device.

Has anyone used the full device encryption built into ics yet? Any drawbacks using it? Does it affect performance in anyway?
Also does it encrypt the internal and external sdcard?
Found a good thread about encryption on ics here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392037 basically don't do it if you flash constantly, and you can't go back either.
I am required to use encryption to access my works exchange server. Before the ICS upgrade I could use a pattern to unlock my encrypted phone. After upgrading to ICS ... the phone prompted me for a password. I had to wipe the phone. I tried again, this time the minimum security requirement from my Exchange server demanded a pin. I set up a pin, encrypted the phone ... rebooted .. again the password prompt. The phone would not recognize my password. Re-wipe, try again, 1 hour later after encryption ... same thing. Prompt for password, it did not recognize my password ... rewipe the phone.
Now I am looking for a way to downgrade from ICS

Have you tried using a password instead of a pin or pattern? I'm wondering if it is letting you select a lower security option and then trying to enforce a higher security option later. Just a guess.

Hi there,
Recently decided to encrypt my phone. Unfortunately the process hanged with the information "Remaining time 00:00". I waited for 24 hours and rebooted the device. Unfortunately now userdata is encrypted and whatever password I type it sais sth like "You password is correct but the data i samaged. Please reset your phone". I have one critical app, that I need to recover - yes I forgot to do backup (I was sure I did, but I was wrong). Is there any way to recover the data.
At the moment of encryption SIM card was inserted and security pattern 4x4 enabled. The phone is HTC ONE m8, OS is CM13.0 (6.0 Marshmallow). I am familiar with how encryption works (more or less), twrp, fastboot etc. Just need some ideas...
I'm running the latest Validus Nougat ROM for OnePlus 3. I decided to add a password and encrypt my phone. So I ticked the force encryption and I figured I'd also tick the dmverity option in Magisk and then went and created my password and required password to boot. Reboot my phone and incorrect password. Tried more than a few times before booting to recovery and inputting the same password there to decrypt partition. It works...
So how is it possible that the same password that can decrypt properly through TWRP is incorrect when used to try and boot to system? And also can I recover my data? I did make a full backup 3 weeks ago so it's not the end of the world but a little annoying.
Hello.
I have somehow installed TWRP, LineageOS 7.1.2 and Magisk 16 on my Honor 9. My FRP got locked and I can no longer unlock it. Whenever I click Allow OEM unlocking in developer settings
the settings app crashes. I've tried factory resetting the phone, but no success. Is there a way I can remove the password completely from my phone. The phone is obviously rooted and I can access the root shell just fine.
If you could somehow help me that would be awesome. I am available mostly on Discord under the username: Perhaps. #0797 . If you don't want to get in touch with me trough Discord that's just fine.
I am unable to provide any kind of logs due to it not even appearing in the logs. I am however able to do logcats

Hi
Phone = Samsung J5 (SM-J530F)
We distribute Android phones to members of staff at our company.
As part of security remediation, the phones have been encrypted (using the in-built encryption) and added to an MDM solution.
As part of the MDM solution the phones are as above encrypted and blocked from carrying out factory reset. If you try to do a factory reset it says this is blocked by your MDM.
The issue we are now facing is that we have had a member of staff leave and the phone has run out of battery.
Upon turning on the phone we are presented with the 'require pin at startup' screen.
Unfortunately we do not know the PIN and are therfore unable to power the phone up. As a first point of call I thought I could flash the phone using Odin.
It has come to light that in order to get Odin to work, you need to boot the phone into 'download / Odin mode'. In order to do this, the PIN is required as well.
I have read numerous forums of people suggesting to use the platform tools (ie. fastboot). Upon reading instructions on how to do this, they have said to put the phone into download mode again as per above which requires the PIN again.
Is anyone able to suggest a solution to get into an encrypted Android phone that has require PIN at startup enabled and has factory reset disabled.
Are there any tools that will just completely wipe the storage and re-flash with a firmware without needing to get into the Android system?
The phone in question is a Samsung J5 (SM-J530F)
Thank you in advance
