Unknown soft bricked MTK8382 7 inch tablet. I need help resuscitate it. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I found this bricked tablet, it's a generic chinese 7 inch tablet, it has the MTK8382 processor, single SIM, but I can't figure out anything else about it. Is there any kind of universal rom for these things? I tried to install some roms I found online for models with a similar shape but I ended up bricking it, now it just display lines on the display or a white screen when I turn it on, nothing else works. Should I just throw it away?
It's this generic model that can be found on alibaba if you want to buy in bulk and start your awful tablet company: http://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/MTK8382-7-inch-alps-tablet-pc_60273334448.html

I managed to resuscitate it using a rom meant for a device called IKON 7 Tablet, also known as Royqueen MR706. I had flashed at least 20 roms for similar devices before I found this one. It works 100%, even the camera and the FM radio, so it must mean it's a clone of a clone of a clone with the same source hardware from the same crappy chinese factory. This rom is pretty decent too, moderately fast and only has a few crappy games preinstalled, no malware or weird stuff. It even comes with the google apps (still not giving it my google account), flash player, and office suite.
This is the info from MTK Droid Tools. Any other rom I can get for this device to make it a bit more useful?
Also, it seems like I lost the original IMEI of this device. Is there any way to recover it or give it a working IMEI?

I have the same tablet too!

Hi! I have the same tablet and in my case this ROM not worked.
My tablet is: Mediatek MT8312v. Was bricked, and I tried flash with ROM royqueen MR706D by rp_yonex (maybe you saw it out there) but not revived correctly... showed a IKON logo when it start but the display and touch function failed, the screen is misaligned or is seen as half, i donĀ“t know how say, just not functioned correctly.
But i think that i'm not very away from solution.
Even though the screen does not work very well, I could get this data in the "settings/ about tablet" :
Model number: IK-TPC783
Android version: 4.2.2
Baseband version: MOLY.WR8.W1315.MD.WG.MP.V18, 2013/11/29 20:10
Buil number: MT83x2_MR706_MR7063L1C2W1.2014031418
Custom build version: 1.19_20140125
Hardware info: MT8312
Please help!

I'm having an issue with a VERY similar device... It's an MR706, with zero markings indicating brand/manufacturer... The motherboard appears to be model K20-MB-V1.0 and there's a chip (not sure WHICH chip) with a brand called FORESEE on it. Anyway - I attempted to update the firmware using that royqueen scatter, and now the thing won't boot at all. Held the reset button, held all buttons, plugged in (it was at 96% battery before I flashed it) - nothing. Wondering if it's totally bricked or if there's some magic that someone can teach me...

You must be sure the exact model to the chip (the big one usually). In my case it's "MediaTek ARM MT8312v". You can search a compatible ROM to flash with the SP Flash Tools.
Or check if this help (mytabletguru.com/how-to-find-chinese-tablet-firmware)

While I'm a fairly seasoned technician, I'll fully/freely admit to this being the first Android tablet I've taken apart. Here's a picture of the innards - help? The only chip with writing/markings is on the top-left - and there's nothing with MediaTek, ARM, or MT - though there is a number that's been popping up in my searches (8382)...

PLEASE HELP ME

I just noticed these new posts in my thread. Unfortunately I'm not able to help any of you because I literally fixed mine via trial and error. Like I said I kept flashing rom after rom until one worked. I bricked it in several ways before getting the right rom, it had all kinds of issues from not booting at all, showing a boot logo and then bootlooping, showing lines on the screen, and so on. I found it by googling for devices with similar hardware.
But honestly, it wasn't worth it to fix this p.o.s.
If you have a similar device you're better off getting rid of it and buying a new one.

[Q] Strange Bricked mtk6589 Note 3 Clone

Hallo experts, i've been xda reader for about 2 years now and i didn't bothered (or needed) to register. Flashed succesfully couple of phones.
My current phone however, has given my too much rage trips So here's the story:
Bought a "Alps U9000" which is a Note 3 Clone based on mtk6589 chipset.
First i made a Backup with MT Droid Tools.
Figured out and installed mt65xx vcom usb drivers.
Flashed couple of roms compatible (or not?) with my phone. First day my phone went totally black dead. But somehow i managet to get a rom that is identicall with stock, flashed and voila. Then i tried couple more similar roms.
They all worked, but after fifth or so, this is the weird thing, my touch became totally unresponsive. Nada.
Since then i tried everything and nothing helped. Bunch of different roms, MY Backup Rom, Restoring Imei,
Plugged mouse to a phone and it works like a charm, but no touch.
Can someone Help?
Hint: I flashed everything with the battery, using MTK preloader vcom driver.
When i tried whole Rom without battery pressing Vol+ it failed.
Only preloader without battery worked, and then the rest with battery worked also.
Dont know if it's relevant.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Flashing your original boot & system image ONLY back to your phone should be enough to restore it.
Don't tick other check boxes in SP Flash Tool.

dude I am new in the forum just like you, same situation and I have exactly the same phone, I already searched in needrom and already tryied with several roms, since the original its really really almost impossible to find, I looked everywhere seriously, if you can help me I would be so happy, I just need the link from where you find it or your backup, I know the second choice is asking for too much but with mega is not really that hard, you dont need to help me but if you do it I swear I would help other people with the same phone
what I know about this phone is that its manufactored by alps and they sell it as ulefone model:u9000, my box came with no brand-mark at all, only crap like "Its Android Phone !" quadcore cpu and other stuff
Well, if you need original rom for the device I can share with you.
I just bought another exact same one. Downloaded Rom from it with flash tool via read back option.
Flashed the faulty one with it but still it didn't worked.
System works, WiFi, BT, 3g, but no touchscreen. Only with mouse per USB i was able to test the above mentioned.
I guess I will send it back and hope for a refund or a repair because I am pretty sure the hardware is faulty.
Maybe there is some1 that knows more about mtk devices? Does the phone have only the emmc memory or is there some sort of vram that stores Calibration data for touch, imei number and so on?
After many attempts my N9002 showed signs of life. I managed to flash it with a rom N9000. The cell phone on, the screen is backlit, the samsung startup sound is heard, the back and lie buttons light up menu. But the screen goes black and shows no image.
Someone can help me?
Search for N9002 ROM's in Needrom.

[Q] Goophone i5 DEAD - Please help

Hello everyone! Happy new month as we say in Greece!
I'm new to your forum (but I visit the forum way to often to find answers to some of the problems that my friends have with their android phones)
I am a iOS user since the release of the first iPhone (2G) and i still use that phone as my primary device.
Due to economical issues I never could buy a newer version of the device.
So I thought... an iPhone clone might do the trick for me!
SO I bought a used Goophone i5.
The specs that antutu gave me was that the phone had:
Quad-Core CPU (MT6589 if I'm not mistaken) --> which is a lie, because the phone in factory mode (Power + Vol down told me it was a dual core mt6577)
2GB RAM
I wanted to fresh install the ROM of the phone and I went to needrom.com to find the ROM for my phone.
I extracted the downloaded files and with SP Flashtool i followed the steps to install the ROM.
But once the green circle appeared in my PC monitor, and told me that everything was OK I ejected the phone cable and tried to power on the device.
The device doenst show ANY kind of response to anything (no dev manager port appearance or anything) and that means i cannot install another ROM or even go to recovery mode to install another rom OR even try another ROM from SP Flashtool.
I tried to locate the test point of the device but i couldn't since I've never tried that before and i am kinda scared that i will ruin my new pretty shiny iPhone clone.
Here are some images of the inside of the device (not taken by me) :
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img541/2850/ebne.jpg
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/a/img132/1700/u36i.jpg
My questions are the following:
1) Can someone help me find the test point and give me step-by-step instructions on how to connect my phone again to SP Flashtool?
2) Is there a way to avoid finding the TP and just flashing a new ROM?
3) Does someone have the same problem as me out there?
4) Is there a newer ROM with ios7 looks?
Thanks to all,
hope you can all help me and then help you if needed :highfive:

UP. Anyone?
up!
No one knows how to do this?
The things I also tried was to charge the battery from a external charger with leads and connect it to another device to see if it still works.
The battery so does work
But still cant locate the test point and cant connect the device to SP Flashtool.

[Q] [MediaTek] Flashing preloader from another super similar model

Don't know if I should've asked somewhere else but here it goes...
The device I have is a K-Free (or K-Phone) K480 aka Karbonn Titanium S25 Klick (it has another name in the store I bought it jeez) and what I'm specifically trying to do is to boot a kernel from another phone, almost exactly the same model Gigabyte GSmart Mika M3. Both phones run on the MT6582 platform.
Both devices are nearly identical, with the exception of the front facing camera where on the GSmart it is 8MP and on mine it is 5MP (the only difference in H/W mind you) and I even have the case for it on my phone. The point is - the hardware could be considered the same thing. Then I took a look at the software side of things...
Guess what - everything's almost the same as well, down to the partition layout (scatter files identical), littlekernel (uboot) works on my phone and yet I can't boot the boot.img of it or even the OS (haven't tried too hard on copying system.img, it should've worked with the ROM I have) so the only conclusion I can make is that the preloader needs to be flashed as well which is the most scary part.
Comparing the two preloaders from each phone, the one I have is newer than the one from the GSmart and I know why exactly - the dude in the store flashed my phone since it was a "new" model lol. The OEM provided them with software for Karbonn Titanium S25 (v1.7). Other than the date, there are still some differences - at the large chunk at the beginning it is the same, some stuff is moved around and most of all the final portion is different and I assume that's for the kernel side of things, but I could be wrong. So in conclusion, a large part of it is similar as well.
The reason why I make this fuss about is because Gigabyte seems to update their devices more often for one and the second reason would be simply exploring the possibilities of what I can and can't do with my phone and finally, the third reason would be ultimately, Gigabyte provided me with kernel sources for their Mika M3 and yet nobody from K-Free or Karbonn have responded so I have to get the stock GSmart kernel running on my device anyway and I know it's possible.
I need to know one thing for sure - would this work? The only way to find out is to flash it and I am a bit skeptical to try it out. Unless there's a safe escape route (no testpoints or anything, it's under warranty), I really don't know if I'm going to try it at all. At least, if anybody knows if the device will load some preloader or USB VCOM mode if it fails, please let me know.
EDIT: Just to let you know, holding Vol Down while plugged in without battery loads the meta mode, so it may work after all. I ask people who are familiar with MTK devices to confirm if MT6582 after failed preloader will continue doing that.
EDIT2: I was a bit impatient, but hey, flashing the preloader worked! lol Now onto turning the phone into a Mika M3 completely...
EDIT3: OK nevermind it seems I have answered my questions myself. To everyone who owns this device: you can flash Mika M3 software on it. Everything works just fine.

Help with "Ployer momo11 III" Allwinner A31s - Bricked

About a year back I bought this tablet second-hand, No box, no cords, no manual, nothing.
All I have to go on is what is written on the backcase and inside the actual tablet.
The thing is that this specific model seem to be spoken of very lightly on the internet and there's been alot of missinformation regarding the actual model name, the CPU and the kernel...
Long story short, I misstook my tablet for the "momo11 Bird" and downloaded CM10 from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1821398
I flashed it, and as you can figure out, seeing I misstakenly downloaded a ROM for Rockchip when in reality I'm on a Allwinner A31s, I accidently bricked my device.
The key combination for recovery or fastboot does no longer work, and as I turn the tablet on it just shows the "ployer" logo and stays there.
It doesn't even reboot itself, it just shows the logo until the battery is dead.
After digging on the internet for what feels like forever, I now am almost entirely certain that I have successfully found the ACTUAL model in my possession.
Most important specs:
Product Type Tablet PC
Brand Ployer
Model MOMO11-III
Color Silver back cover
Shell Material Aluminum alloy
Operating System Stock Android 4.2 (Currently CM10 for momo11 Bird)
CPU Allwinner A31S Cortex-A7 quad-core 1.2GHz
GPU PowerVR SGX544 MP2
RAM 1GB DDR3
ROM (Nand Flash) 8GB
Now, in a desperate attempt to restore my tablet, I'm trying to locate either a stock firmware or a custom one, I don't really care aslong as it works.
The problem is that like previously mentioned, there's not alot of information regarding the "ployer momo11 iii"(momo11-3), and I have also not yet managed to find a ROM for it.
Another issue that I'm also faced with is that I can't seem to get my hands on any USB drivers for the tablet.
Is there anyone here who's got any experience with this tablet, or could help find the proper firmware, respectively the proper USB driver?
Someone please help as this is making me really sad....

voyo i8 max , help requested

hi i bought this tablet few weeks ago and i have in my hands for around a week , i'm having some serious issues to use it because the rom basically sucks (continous crash of almost every app, sometimes it reboots by himself etc.)
i wanted to ask if other people have it and if they're facing the same issues , and the most important thing :if there is a twrp and a custom rom to replace this abomination
sorry for my bad english
I received this tablet a week ago and it just restarted once. Not that bad.
I just have another issue: battery charging. Just 3 days ago, I found that the i8 max couldn't be fully charged! Charging stopped at 83% even I plugged in for whole night. I will try the soft-reset tonight and see what happened.
Anyone having similar problem?

Tried using Power + Vol- but the device kept rebooting. Then pressing Power + Vol+ gave me a boot menu. I selected wipe cache and reboot again ...... no luck. The battery meter stayed at 86% after 8 hours of charging
Seems we need a better rom.
Finally i succesfully unlocked bootloader , flashed a twrp (starting with a xiaomi redmi note 4 twrp i make the porting to make it works on voyo)
And flashed superSU too
But the experience on this tablet still sucks
The firmware from voyo website is not able to flash with sp tools , or twrp so is useless .
If somebody successfully port or create an alternative rom for this tab let us know

If you could share instructions and files for bootloader unlock and root to the forum, that would be greatly appreciated. Cheers.
Now it's easier
For unlock bootloader you need to download mediatek drivers on Windows and activate usb debug and oem unlock bootloader (or similar) in dev option , from then open a powershell and use adb like other phones
For twrp , google "voyo i8 max twrp" guide and download link are there (i think it s not allowed to post external link)
For root download superSU and flash from twrp
If you need other infos , ask
Sorry for my bad english , it's difficult to write a guide in another language

Hi. Thanks. My difficulty is actually to find the TWRP file for the i8 Max. Googling it leads you to the GetDroidTips website which gives you a link to the twrp file that is on a Russian forum page. However the download link on that Russian forum page is dead. I tried to contact the writer of the article on GetDroidTips website, but he's not responding. All I want really is a valid download link to the twrp file. Everything else I should be able to do fine from there...
Could someone post the TWRP file someplace...
Once I can load TWRP and root I'll make a backup of the bare firmware and make it available.

Hi,
Twrp for Voyo I8 Max
Can someone help please?
Hi all,
I follow Aditya Singh's article to port 3 twrp recoverys for Voyo i8 max.
Installing with SP Flash Tool, I can boot to each recovery of them.
You can choose one of them and I hope it works well on you pad.
* I'm not a pro. Thus, I may NOT provide help for your technical problems. I also NOT sure those recoverys won't damage your pad or data. If you have doubts about this, please do not download them.
Download link: (As a new guy, I can't post any link now. Open it by yourself)

I have the i8 Plus framework file that Voyo has for an i8 reload image. I will try my hand at creating TWRP file and see how they differ. Really need to get my device rooted so I can get the CPU control optimised and to see just how much of the OS is faked by parms in the kernel.
Already had one Octa-Core pad that was actually a dual core hyped up. Lucky for me the guy was in the USA and filed for a refund on it. Only found out after I rooted it and reran tests to really see what was on the inside.
Even so, there are a lot of great reviews about my device. Perhaps I'll try my hand at porting Dirty Unicorn, Remix OS, or Android 8.x.
As is, I'll pay my review after I load the second SIM with my new number.

Hi bro,
Honestly, I don't figure out what you mean 'cause my English is poor. I guess you wanna find a method to root your i8 plus. I port a twrp for i8 plus with the same method I mentioned.
Again, I don't guarantee that this recovery will not damage your device. You MUST take risk by yourself.

You can choose one of them and I hope it works well on you pad.
* I'm not a pro. Thus, I may NOT provide help for your technical problems. I also NOT sure those recoverys won't damage your pad or data. If you have doubts about this, please do not download them.

The file on the Voyo site is for the i8-Plus. I have sent repeated emails to "VoyoJack" and have received no response. I have another email address for him and I will try that way. I have recently tried to review the files and found that the framework is the wrong one. I think Voyo made a mistake in posting it - but it is possible that the same framework loads on both devices. Voyo has yet to confirm this.
The actual .img file is a SP Tools recovery image with scatter. (If you don't know what that means, look up how the SP Tools program works).

The framework file, while a .img extension, is actually a zip file with all the ADB pulls of the software. Which makes me think they slapped together something to appease folk like us. But it does contain the boot loader and the scatter files needed to make a working TWRP.

Actually the file is a scatter retrieved file that is an entire copy of the i8 Plus framework - that is loaded on i8 Plus and Max (not sure if loaded on PRO). The USA versions of the i8 Max have additional security measures to keep folks from modifying them. Although bootloader unlock programs for other Voyo products seem to work on this device as well.
The device may very well have fake IMEI numbers. The IMEI number does not pass validation. While they will work on most networks, they are still invalid IMEI numbers. Additionally, the serial numbers of these devices are 0123456789ABCDEF - which means they are common hack loads of Android on the device. Even though the device has great performance, the drawbacks of having them work on LTE networks, and overheating of the communications chip are common problems. The overheating causes the device to cut back on communications. Which pretty much sucks if you are trying to play an onlilne game with multiple users.
I have the Voyo i8 Max with two different carriers loaded. AT&T and T-Mobile respectively. It works. It does what I want it to do. However, the fact this has IMEI issues, is darn near almost impossible to root, and has a support system that sucks (zero communications and support from Voyo) should turn away users that are less daring.

I have confirmed that these files do in fact work. However: A word of caution. I had problems getting my device to boot after installing TWRP. It should be noted that you will have to unlock your boot loader (the Voyo Boot Loader Unlock program for other devices worked for mine too. The Fastboot commands are simple enough to run by hand get the job done). This will wipe your device and reboot.
Since Voyo is a Chinese company, the USA has restrictions on what the device has to employ for security. That includes a trusted, locked bootloader. Once you unlock it your device will display a warning that your device is no longer trusted, and give you a (long) 5 second delay before booting. This will also cause a number of Google services to see your device as not being in compliance.
Translation: You won't be able to watch Netflix on your device....but seriously - Who would want to?? Just load Showbox.apk on it, and Blokada (blokada.org) to kill the ads. (with regards to Blokada - do not load the Mother Of All Ads filter. It will crash blokada)
You must:
1. Install Super User app on your SD Card **BEFORE** you install TWRP. This is the program that cleans up some of the mess the TWRP install leaves behind.
2. Install TWRP via SP Tools. Be sure to backup your recovery.img file before you start (via SP Tools - learn how to use this app before you mess with it)
3. Clear Cache and Delvic cache.
4. Reboot back into Recovery mode
5. Install Super User app. This will clean up the device so you don't get stuck while booting.
At this point you can load and configure your device. Problem is you will not be able to enjoy anything other than GSM speeds (3G) until you fix your IMEI numbers.
***YOU WILL NEED TO DO THE FOLLOWING***
6. The IMEI numbers that ship with the Voyo i8 Max are invalid. Go online to site that has an IMEI Generator and generate a IMEI based on Samsung Galaxy LTE device of your choice. Record two of the numbers down (for SIM1 and SIM2). You'll need these in a moment.
Just be careful that the IMEI number you pick is not a duplicate of someone else's phone or you might get blocked.
7. Use the App Ghost Phone to set the new IMEI numbers. After you have set the numbers, shut your phone off for at least 10 minutes. This will let the network forget your device is 3G. After ten minutes turn your device on and if you have 4G LTE in your range, you will see the 4G icon and either another 4G icon, that means you only have 4G in your area for fastest speed, or 4G and LTE noted for LTE speeds.
After I done this I loaded Androoster and Root Booster to speed my device up even further. Bringing the look and feel of my phablet up to workstation level operations. Installed Viper for Android for added sound features and increase of volume (speaker is very weak on the tablet). Added VPN software, Anti-Virus, and Adaware for near ad free use. Although a lot of ads now are fed by the host server of the app and adware does not block those completely.
I have used my machine for almost two months now and really enjoy it. While the device does not have a GPS, Waze does a good job at ignoring this fact. Google Maps is useless on this device without a good Compass. There exists a kit project for a Bluetooth compass that is reported to work with this device.
Be careful of the type of Bluetooth headphones you choose. I have a mono-speaker Cobra trucker headset. It links well but nothing plays through it except phone calls. For generic mono with mic get a gaming bluetooth cheap headset. Or spend the money for Parrot Trucker headset. For Music, direct wire or find a good over-the-ear set that does Bluetooth very well. Found a $10 set on Wish that did the job so well I bought 2 (one for the Mrs.).
I'm still bugging Voyo for the I8 Max install firmware. The one they have is the i8 Plus SD dump. Doesn't work with our gear, but we can use it as a template for mods if necessary. Particularly with TWRP.
I hope this helps. Please click thanks and keep the good stuff rolling...
Need rom dump of I8 Max
Hello,
I'm new to the I8 Max and have had no joy with Voyo, who do not really seem interested in the foreign markets.
I am very interested in your post and I tried to flash the TWRP recovery but now my I8 Max will not work - it is bricked. I need a rom dump of the system from SP Flash Tool or WwR_MTK_2.40 so I can restore the entire firmware including bootloader. If anybody out there can help, it would be appreciated. MediaTek chips are very robust and as long as I can obtain the original firmware, I should be able to flash back to a working state using SP Flash tool. If someone has the correct firmware from the manufacturer, that would be a blessing. I appreciate any and all help offered.

Hi guys. I just boarded the Voyo i8 max ship so lets see what else we find out.
Mine does have GPS. Google maps locks a location with hardware gps only. I don't use google location services and never will (in any of my devices).
No compass still. That's fine with me and I knew beforehand.
I think voyo does have interest in the overseas market as the device has keyboard and manuals in some kind of English but is not interested in having real customer support (as spected from a cheap China device). No suprises for me there.
Screen is a little unresponsive to touch probably because of the plastic screen protector or because of the 'palm rejection' from the pressure pen compatibility. I won't take the screen protector until the pen arrives... if it ever arrives (bought from Geekbuying).
Scroll is sluggish due to kernel tweaks or something but you can 'fix' it.
Awesome solution to the choppy scrolling: SuperTouch app from the play store. I'm amazed this really worked and no root needed to boot! Honesty don't know how that shlt works but it does. Set it to 500 smooth level because I didn't pay for the full app but damn, I might do as well because the recommended smooth level for this device's specs is more than triple! But you need to pay a few bucks.
Audio suck balls. Mono and as loud as a wishper. It almost makes the job done. I will try to hack the butt out of this device in a couple of monts and try to install real speakers and getting stereo might be a challenge depending of how stupid voyo 'engieneers' were.
Cameras are a joke (as spected).
Screen is nice (probably half the reason we bought this device) but spect bleeeding and quirks. Mine has shadow eyeliner at the right edge.
Keyboard is not worth buying unless at a discount or you really, really need a screen cover. I know I do. Plus point being bluetooth, bad point having the worse back shortcut ever. Home is esc, back is that mac flowr thingy + tiny ass backspace and recent apps...kinda shortcut is alt+tab. Alt+F4 is impossible to do with this keyboard.
The experience of the typing. Its usable, better than touch typing the screen while sitting on the desktop, but way worse than using swype, swiftkey or google board gliding. Still a pain because its like typing in a remote control.
It attaches to the device pretty poorly. It preffers to attach to the front of the device.
Unlike the voyo i8 pro this one has google play working out of the box.
Wifi is poor at medium range and unusable at long range. 2.4ghz. Haven't testet 5ghz.
4G is unavailable to me as my carriers only use B2 and B4 which this tablet doesn't support (haven't put a SIM yet but will in a couple weeks).
The pen... buttons don't work according to everyone. I can't tell, mine was never shipped.
That's all so far. I have had this device for almost an hour.
