Zenfone 5 ADB Sideload Error - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Whenever I try to sideload UL-ASUS_T00F-WW-3.23.40.52, it gives me this error and aborts the installation. I have the 3.23.40.52 recovery, fastboot and boot images flashed. I am trying to fix the bootloop from CM 12.1 by reverting to stock

Killed recovery... can I recover from this?

Thought I'd dust off my old TF201 (rooted) and put the KatKiss Nougat ROM on to see how it performs; was previously running CromiX.
I booted into TWRP recovery and did a full wipe and format of /data, then upgraded TWRP to 2.8.7.0 using the kang flashable zip. So far so good. Rebooted into the new TWRP and tried to upgrade TWRP further by loading a TWRP 2.8.7.2 image file via the TWRP settings. Rebooting recovery now fails - I get an error message in bootloader that there was an "unrecoverable bootloader error (0x00000000)" and it locks up.
I've tried reloading TWRP 2.8.7.0 via fastboot using
Code:
fastboot -i 0x0B05 flash recovery <image_file>
; this appeared to work, but rebooting into recovery now either gives the bootloader error message above, or else it briefly flashes the screen, restarts the bootloader and the cursor flashes over the Android icon and can't be moved with the volume down switch. If I select this option with volume up, I get four penguins followed by a "preinit starting" message and then a bunch of "=" symbols before it locks up again.
Rebooting into fastboot allows me to send fastboot commands from my PC, but adb commands fail with "no devices/emulators found".
I've reached the end of my experience and have no idea what to try next. Could someone please offer some advice on how to proceed?
Thanks!

If anyone's interested in such an ancient tablet... post #12 in the TF300 support thread held the answer. They are generic fastboot commands, so the model of the tablet really doesn't matter.
I'm now back to stock 4.1 and ready to start over.

Unbrick phone with connect to adb, install custom recovery or install new system

Hi. I unlocked bootloader on my ZTE Axon 7 mini B12. I did everything like here. Next step I want was deploy TWRP with this tuliptool and with this img. Unfortunately, though I received a message on terminal "Success!" i didn't have TWRP and I still had standard recovery (and I still have). I read that I have to first upgrade my 6.0.1 to 7.1.1, so I tried update like here. One again unfortunately update failed. Next step was install boot images this thread. After that I have never ending bootloop.
So, now only what I can is boot to standard recovery and try do something with adb sideload. When I try "adb devices" i see my phone but with "unauthorized". When I try install new recovery or rom with "adb sideload <package>" i have an error in terminal:
Code:
connecting...
Total xfer: 0.00x
and on phone:
Code:
Finding update package...
Opening update package
Veryfing update package
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
E:open file /cache/fora/error_code error errno = 2
Instalation aborted
Have anyone some resolution to install new ROM, new recovery or connect to adb with recovery?

Unable to boot into Recovery Mode

Hi all, been playing around with my new Z5C and loving it.
Installed Lineage OS, but wanted to go back to stock for better photo quality so I used Emma (Sony's flash tool) - worked like a charm, however...
I'm no longer able to boot into recovery mode, tried "adb reboot recovery" and that just restarts the phone, also holding power vol down just restarts the phone also.
Edit: Also unable to reboot into fastboot via "adb reboot fastboot" same as above the phone just restarts.
How can I go about flashing a stock recovery? Ideas?
Cheers,
Paul.
TWRP recovery with modified kernel
I was unable to boot into recovery mode, when trying to root my Sony Xperia Z5 for the first time.
It worked after modifying my Android 7 Nougat kernel with this tool: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xp...ot-automatic-repack-stock-kernel-dm-t3301605/
I had to enter recovery mode via "adb reboot recovery". Which worked well for me.
Trying to install lineageos... .zip, the check for right device was wrong in my case.

Worked well for me.

Fastboot rebooting /corrupted

I am on Vendor_fw 12.0.2.0 and on Awaken android 11. I did a full wipe - cache, data and flashed crdroid which in turn changed my recovery from TWRP to its custom recovery. Now i am unable to flash anything using fastboot. Whenever i enter fastboot flash command, even before flashing starts, the phone reboots. I have tried changing recovery using adb sideload and it doesn't work. I even tried flashing other customs roms and i keep getting Signature verification failed and wrong footer error command. I can now only flash roms with pixel base. I can't even flash magisk. I tried using Miflash and even then no luck. Any solution to fully wipe everything and i can start from scratch?
