Hello,
I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge SM-925F.
Checking the specs on this model, I found that it only supports LTE FDD Bands.
If you check the Samsung site, both FDD & TDD are displayed as supported by the phone (don't know for sure if they apply for my model though).
My question is:
Is there a way to unlock certain TDD bands on my device? I've seen several posts about unlocking LTE Bands on S5, but nothing for S6. Is this possible? Or will it be in the future?
I'm using a network that has 4G TDD B38 2600.
Thanks
bump,
Can someone please answer my question.
Thanks

fdd and tdd stand for frequency and time modulation
it is a hardware thing
i personally doubt that s6 have both modules ....

i answered this in a locked thread. international SGS3 on T-Mo USA will only get you Edge speeds. so the answer to your question is no, it is not compatible with HSPA+.

3G (HSPA+ 21Mbps): 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100MHz
4G (HSPA+ 42Mbps): 1700/2100
LTE: 700/1700
in other words, you'd get Edge if you used an international version on Wind/Mobilicity. this would be the same as if i imported an international version and used it on T-Mobile US.
Wind/Mobilicity/Videotron = T-Mobile US (same bands)
Telus/Bell/Rogers/etc = ATT (same bands)

If you're dead set on the Exynos for Tmo, I hope your smothered in wifi all day or your area gets refarmed to 1900 MHz HSPA sooner than later...

I have been using the s6 edge for quite a few days and after various talks with my provider I got to know that they are using LTE band 2300mhz while the S6 Edge supports only upto 2100. Is there a way to enable it?
I would really appreciate any help here..
Currently my unlocked MT2L03 only supports the USA LTE Bands. Can I unlock additional LTE Bands for worldwide usage? I am guessing TDD Bands will just not be there. But how about additional FDD Bands?

It's dependent on the modem inside the chip. If the other bands are not on the chip, no, you can't access them.

Hi there,
Well that's the obvious answer isn't it.
The question posed in OP is whether there are more bands accessible and whether anyone has made any progression in this domain for the Huawei devices.
I think one of the questions is whether the Kirin chipsets might have the Qualcomm modem on them (which is used in a lot of mobiles) and how to activate diag mode.
Anyone?
Regards,

Hi ScoobSTi,
Right you are!
Which means it has Qualcomm chipset.
To add or change bands: look here and here, both on XDA.
Quite some report that they succeeded, but caution is to be paid.
Kind regards,
Thanks for the replies. MT2L03 uses Snapdragon 400 chip. I checked out the other links shared in the posts but they seemed to be for LG phones so unlikely to work on the Huawei.
Specifically I am interested to activate FDD LTE Band 3 / 1800.
The phone is shipped with FDD LTE bands 2, 4, 5 and 17 activated.
Thanks

Yep, that's correct. Just want to activate Band 3 LTE ... I am quite sure the radio would work if we have the code to activate it....

Hi,
A Samsung S6 Verizon Stock Rooted ROM had been posted by a fellow member (Scott) on XDA Forums:
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...ment/rom-stock-rooted-g920v-vru1aoc3-t3109080
I have a Samsung S6 (G920P) - Sprint Edition. I wanted to know whether this Verizon Rooted ROM can be installed on my Sprint Edition of S6?
Since I am already posting this question I also wanted to add another query. My G920P does not support 4G in India, because the 4G bands that work in India (1800 Mhz, 2300 Mhz) are not supported by the G920P. If I flashed a custom ROM on the G920P would 4G work in India or is it a hardware thing?
Thanks in advance!
I want to my Sprint S6 (G920P) to support Band 3 and Band 40. Is this possible in anyway by software change as many say that the bands have been locked by Sprint on the device. Or is the hardware not compatible to support these bands? Please help.
Verizon rom would not help nor would it be an improvement over the Sprint firmware already. Your phone does not support Band 3 or 40.
LTE band 2(1900), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 12(700), 25(1900), 26(850), 41(2500) - G920P
The question of whether the Korean 256GB models (SM-N950N) of the Note 8 having the 1700MHz / Band 4 support or not was in question due to the limited info. online, not showing these bands listed early on...
However, it looks like now that people have the 256GB Note 8's in their hands, many have proved that the Korean variant does indeed have 1700MHz / Band 4 to work 100% on T-Mobile....ie... Full support of all the Bands. (Less the 600Mhz, which is only available on the LG V30 as the first phone so far to feature the new frequency. That's for another topic...
Can those of you who have the 256GB model on T-Mobile, confirm how it's working along with some screen shots of speedtests etc?...
Thanks...
What about Band 66 which is the 1700/2100 one.
I just looked up on https://www.frequencycheck.com/carrier-compatibility/OgWGFv/samsung-sm-n950n-galaxy-note-8-td-lte-256gb-samsung-baikal/t-mobile-united-states and it says this one is missing.
Anyone want to chime in on this?

Looking at the 4G Specs here:
http://www.phonemore.com/samsung-galaxy-note-8-sm-n950n/specs/3552
It appears it does support both 1700MHz and 2100MHz frequencies, though it doesn't specify band 66. It states it supports these:
LTE Cat16 700/800/850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100/2600 (Bands 1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,18,19,20,25,26,28)
TD-LTE 1900/2300/2500/2600 (Bands 38,39,40,41)

If you want to reliably verify what bands a Samsung device has my advice to you would be to go to the Samsung website located in the regionn or country that the device is sold in.
Then navigate to the N8 on that website and check the specs.
I've learned never to trust what those third party websites state. Especially frequency check.
Here, I've googled it for you...

B66 is not important for most people on Tmo USA. Google it & see if it's even available in your area. B66 is an extension of B4 & currently not available in a lot of areas. B71 will probably be more of a difference but Note 8s don't support it anyway.
Generally B4, B12, & B2 is what will be primarily used. N950F supports B66 but I've never seen my phone connect to B66 anywhere around me.
