I'm sorry in advance if this is a stupid question, but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.
I bought the unlocked XT1527 from Amazon.com thinking there were a lot of bands listed and it would likely work wherever I went. However, in Singapore, with M1, it almost exclusively connects at 2G, though sometimes shows me LTE. In the UK on Three, it won't connect to anything at all.
Is there any way of changing this up with software or do I just need to get a new phone?
All you need to do is match the bands of the phone with the carrier you're going to use. Check that the Moto features the primary frequencies, but non-US countries usually have very different LTE/Hspa bands.

Dears,
I need your help. I have Gear S R750T running on R750TUVU1ANJ7. I have just rooted my Gear S following the exact instruction in this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/development/definitive-guide-to-rooting-gear-s-t2973455
Unfortunately, SIM Card still not working even after rooting. There is no coverage appear in the watch.
Do you have any solution or suggestion to overcome this problem.
Thanks,
A.AZIZ
I have the exact same issue.
USA phones (and GearS watches with phone functionality) use a different communication channel than those for Europe/Asia.
So, if you're trying to use a phone/watch designed for one set of frequencies (for example USA uses dual band 850/1900) on a network with a different set of frequencies (in Europe it's 900/1800) it will simply not work.
You should definitely research this kind of info BEFORE buying any GSM type device (phone, smartwatch, 3g/4g tablet, ...) or you'll end up with a "WIFI only" device
EDIT :
Here's a list of countries that use the same frequencies as USA :
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_wireless_communications_service_providers
Also, for Yemen the network uses the GSM 900 system, so an American phone won't work : http://www.gsmarena.com/network-bands.php3?sCountry=YEMEN
Thanks verzipo for your reply
Thanks verzipo for your reply
I don't think the problem is the band frequencies as most mobiles whatever be GSM or CDMA brought from USA are working properly here in Yemen. Only mobiles which are factory locked or restricted by a carrier need a back door solution either by rooting or some utility applications. I feel frustrated and cheated by buyer that I spent more money for the Gear S on un-used feature in my country.
Anyway, I will try my best to use the WIFI feature to its end limit to compensate
Thanks Man again.....
I am having a problem with 3G network for along time even though we have 3G coverage in my place
i installed lolipop 5.0.1 and it worked perfectly but the 3g problem still
im in north africa but my phone manufactured in brazil ,under the battery it's written ANATEL and a number of 10 digits following it Do you think this phone works only in brazil and only under Alcatel. network ?
now an idea comes into my mind is to install a brazil region ROM with a brazilian carrier , but some told me ROMs are all the same and it won't resolve your problem
Do you think this phone works only in brazil and only under Alcatel. network ?
Dear experts please advice me in my case .....Thank you in advance
Each phone is set to use different bands. So unless the band's match up you will have issues.
but i do not have that carrier in my country here
It's not the carrier. It's the band's that are programmed into the device itself. This is something you have to be very careful about when getting devices from other carriers and countries as they don't all use the same bands.
I would look your phone up and see what bands it supports and then check what bands tour carrier uses. It's most likely they don't use the same ones so you will never see 3g.
so how do i check the programmed band on my phone?
By checking the device under the carrier that it was made for.
Hey all,
I noticed that the moto z was a Verizon exclusive unless you bought the gsm unlocked version from Motorola. As for the Verizon version, if it's unlocked but still a Verizon phone would it work with TPO (the people's operator)? I believe TPO is an umbrella of T-Mobile. I read from multiple places that it depends on the phone to see whether or not a Verizon unlocked will work on another carrier. Some eBay listings I've seen have said Verizon models will work with others while others said it wouldn't. I haven't been to find any moto z specific info regarding this on the internet. If someone could give me some insight that would be much appreciated.
Thanks

The problem which you face there is with the LTE bands. Now a days GSM and 3G bands are standard and most phones support all the 3G and 2G bands for universal use. But the same is not the case for LTE bands. The Verizon unit may not have the LTE bands needed for T-Mobile and other US GSM carriers so you will be better off buying the unlocked version.
Hi guys,
I rooted the phone, installed audio and viper mod... but the only reason I even got that far was trying to root the phone to get additional bands added to the modem. Seems like I am not getting far lol.
The ulefone power 3s I got does not work in canada for bell... as it lacks 3g apparently and only has 2g and 4g? 4g data works, calling phone with 2g works. So data works for bell mobility and rogers, but voice and sms does not work with bell mobility... only with rogers/fido/koodo.
I am going to switch to rogers from bell due to better cost (45 a month plan with data) vs 80+ with bell... so ill get voice working but im worried then how much this phone will work when roaming in the states and what have you....
I seem to be only able to find how to edit bands with qualcom based phones but ours is a p23 or mtk 6763 processor phone.
Did you figure this out?
Just wondering if you were ever able to unlock the bands. I am having a similar issue
Fault of the smartphone made in mediatekļ¼
The japan domestic carrier company where iPhone is set to use all of carrier bands in Japan merely hangs SIM lock and sells a terminal, but even which carrier is available if I cancel it.
However, there is no human being who wants to use this even if the phone which is how much which is the phone which is usable only in Japanese Tokyo where only a measure band of 3G and the LTE is usable because it is sold domestically without most of the carrier bands in Japan being available is bargain as for the smartphone made in mediatek
Even if the person buying it appears if baseband sets it freely and can add it, such an application does not exist.
Because I get the root right, in z3c of sony where band addition is possible freely by QPST and QXDM if it is a phone of snapdragon, there are still many users
The smartphone made in mediatek is a really useless (not smart) phone in Japan
Evening all,
Just a bit of advice, I'm looking to upgrade from my g8x to the v60. As the european/international version is virtually impossible to find, I'm looking at the unlocked USA variants of this phone. Does anyone have this model in the UK and can confirm that it works on 3g/4g OK? I've found different sources stating that some of the bands aren't present in the USA variants - not bothered about 5g, just as long as I can get 3 and 4g on o2 it's fine. Also tried frequency checker but it doesn't seem to list the v60 on there for some reason...
OK so I've just come across the website Kimovil, this seems to be more helpful - looks like the only one that is going to be any use is the Canadian variant of the phone, the USA versions from t mobile/at+t have most of the bands missing for use in the UK. Explains why they go for far less online!
Interesting have you got a link to that site or have a link of where to buy one that will be good for UK
Also looking to buy a v60 to use on the UK
Kimovil.com
Not really found anything other than links for the USA versions of the phone, they don't seem to have the correct bands for most of the UK networks. I'm just watching eBay and seeing what comes up...
I bought an ATT model, unlocked from Ebay. I live in The Netherlands and my provider, Simyo, uses the KPN network with 800mhz (band 20) and 1800mhz (band 3) for 4G/LTE. After inserting my sim everything worked right away. Calls, data, no problems at all. My provider does not support 5G yet
Edit: be aware that you will not receive updates like android 11 (if on 10) or security updates on the V600AM.
I bought the V600AM, I'm in the UK and I can confirm that it works with O2. The only issue is that phone will switch to 2G when making voice calls, soon after hang up it will switch back to 4G LTE.

OK that's useful to know, I'm still not sure about 3g support as where I live in the depths of rural Cornwall we seem to struggle a bit with 4g - it's OK when I'm outside but indoors tends to drop back to 3g, I can use wifi at least. Thanks for the info though

Yeah, the 3g coverage is a thing for me as I tend to only get 4g when outside, it reverts to 3g indoors and I think that may be an issue for me with this phone as it needs to be a daily driver - as far as I can see the USA variants don't support the right bands for UK use....

You could force the phone to be on "LTE Only" with an app from Gstore, but then you won't be able to receive and make voice calls. Not ideal, but considering this phone is from a US network,it will never be 100% compatible with UK Networks. If only someone would find a solution to root it!!!
Which bands use for UK?
Calls will be via 3g if your region coverage that bands.
