Still worth buying Mediapad X1 - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

Dear XDA,
I'm looking for a Huawei Mediapad X1 or X2. Is the processor and the 2GB RAM in the X1 still abit "future proof", or should I definitely opt for the X2 3GB 32GB option?
I can get the X1 for $200 and the X2 for $379.
What do you guys advice?
Thanks in advance!

X1 is a very good steal at this price. With the original kitkat rom, it hasn't reach full potential, but with the new rooted 5.1 beta, it is one of the best 7", battery can last 3 days in normal usage.

So the performance isn't too bad? And where to find the lollipop beta rom? Thanks for your answer!

So the performance isn't too bad? And is this lollipop rom kind of stable?

New Huawei Mediapad 7 Lite?

Just found on Huawei's webpage:
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwi...nfoId=3415&directoryId=5011&treeId=3290&tab=0
Unfortunately no details on the specs yet ...
Interesting. Maybe they lopped off a little bit to bring it down to a Nexus 7-ish price.
I emailed huawei about this version, asked about release date and specs, got this answer :
Dear Customer, Thank you for contacting Huawei device. Sorry about that mediapad lite has not released now. And maybe it will released in the future. But we also didn’t know the exact time when it will released. Once again thank you for contacting Huawei device now. Best Regards. Huawei Device Customer Care Team

If they remove the cellular capabilities and MicroSD card slot then there's no use for this device.
Here's hoping that isn't the case.
I hope huawei mediapad 7 lite gets official JB as the default, so this gives the advantage to mediapad current user
Specs are avaible now ... in fact, its a mediapad 7 lite ...
Ick, they nerfed the resolution down to 1024x600.

Lite indeed. Uses Cortex A8 instead of A9.
Only plus would be lighter, cheaper.
Seems also the specs of the MP 10 FHD is different to the information in the press before:
no microSD
1 GB RAM

I think our mediapad is still one of the best tablet out there.. It's much better than any of galaxy tab.. (except for 7.7) it's really pitty if huawei doesn't give update for JB...

Absolutely agree with you. Huawei doesn't know how to market the Mediapad effectively. I guess they are still more focused on selling carrier big-iron items.
i hope they wont cancel MediaPad "Full" support, and only sell and update the Lite...
is cpu cortex-a8?
i see some test, where snapdragon s3, our msm8260 beats cortex a8 cpu at most near 2.5 times by results
So much of a downgrade not even worth it.
how do you put this mediapad 7 lite to download mode?

[Q] How hack-friendly is the Huawei Ascend Mate expected to be?

The Huawei Ascend Mate will be coming with Huawei's own propriety quad core processor. Will that make porting Android 5.0 KLP in June any difficult? Generally speaking, are Huawei phones hack-friendly (e.g. unlocked bootloader, easily rooted....etc), or should I avoid them?
Currently, it's the only option for someone looking to replace his phone+tablet with an Android with reliable battery life (4050mAh battery, thank you very much) and space (microSD expansion).
Thank you.
I think it will be an expensive phone and it belong to Huawei, I dont like Huawei and I'm Samsung follower. So let see the antutu benchmark when it release to compare to Galaxy Note 2

Xiaomi Mi Max 6.44 inch phablet - a worthy X Ultra replacement?!

http://www.techtimes.com/articles/1...ts-specs-price-options-and-configurations.htm
Just saw this article about a new 6.44 display phone from Xiaomi......could be the Z Ultra replacement we've been waiting for?!? I like the 6.44 screen size, which has been perfect for me.
if it has onscreen buttons i would be very interested
but for now - Z Ultra
I think it is the first viable replacement for the Ultra. It provide 128 GB of storage + microSDXC, which is an excellent upgrade from the Ultra 16 GB. The AnTuTu scores for similar devices indicate a decent upgrade as well: around 80,000 which is a step forward but it is possible the 652 version will be even better.
The main question is 240 DPI operation and ROM development. Items such as softbuttons doesn't worry me since it is possible to enable them with the right ROM/tweaks. LTE bands are another question but I would assume a similar setup as the C6833 more or less.
I think the Max is the first device since the Ultra that can be considered a step forward in most aspects.
There is another contender in the works, though: ZTE Nubia X8, which promises up to 4K and a Snapdragon 823. It is worth to wait for it before making any final decision. As the situation is now with Sony probably out of the game (a Z3 TC successor would have been very interesting but nothing in that regard seems to exist and they failed to replace the Z4 Tablet), it seems like the only companies providing devices of the right category are Huawei (MediaPad/Max series), Xiaomi (Max) and ZTE (Nubia).
It seems to be a choice between a Huawei MediaPad X3/M3/P9 Max (i.e. new devices replacing the 2 series), Xiaomi Max or ZTE Nubia X8. Other brands seems to be stuck at 6 inches or smaller.

The only problem with the Mi Max is there are no LTE bands for the US. I was considering one as well. I replaced my ZU with a Mediapad X2 last year and it's still a great phone even without LTE here.

I totally second this! There's something about the 6.4 inch screen that is perfect for everyday use and for watching videos. I can't imagine myself downsizing to a 6 inch phone.....my eyes literally get strained from watching videos on a 6 inch screen
The new Zen phone 3 ultra looks interesting too.
Tech tablets review is very positive

Buy Honor 5X

Hello to all. i have a few questions because i want to buy a new phone for 200$ or less.
i see a few phones (if you know other please tell me). OnePlus X, Alcatel One Touch idol 3, Huawei 5X, Huawei P8 Lite (kirin or snapdragon), blu one life x 2016. but i can't decide.
if i see reviews about Hono 5x they say this phone have lag on all, so my question its, is this the better option for 200$? and how its the lag? its a 616 octacore the lag can't exist.... other question its... this have marshmallow officially? thanks
this phone lags. and i am using stock rom.
The phone does lag here and there but not too bad... its because of the stock rom... if you intend on flashing a custom rom then this is the best choice...
Also MM is under beta test and should be officially available in half a month or so
