I bought my M4 Aqua Dual last Tuesday. Everything is fine, except of the front camera...
The front camera is really darker than the main one. I know it's normal (different focal etc..) but it takes pictures too dark to be appreciate, and the video are even worst.
I will attach 3 pics. The first one from the main camera. The other 2 from the front one.
Tell me what you think about that. I purchased my phone from Amazon FR, so they can easily replace that (even though I hope it's a SW problem).
I think its just the camera sensor is bad, mine is dark too.

Mine is dark, too. Looks like a vignette effect applied to everything. I think we can't do anything with it.

Can you compare it with another phone?
because m4 main camera is always brighter than other phones, maybe that why you feel front camera darker
I compared to iPhone 6 (surely not a selfie phone). Sadly, iPhone front camera is MUCH lighter. So sad about that.... I mean, it's too much dark!!!
You can be glad that your camera works, i have bug that camera was not detected after 1 Month of use, i had to get it repaired trhu waranty...
Dark front cam

hello guys, i need to know for sure if my camera is defect or not since i need to exchange it by monday.
the pics are attached.
i have taken the pics with and without night mode. the ones taken with night mode are much brighter and have much more severe flare.
is that normal?
Its all good.
Sent from my GT-I9100
Totally normal.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Nightmode increases the iso hence the lighter pictures. You should notice either more noise in the picture or loss in sharpness as the built in noise reduction kicks in. The flare you see is lenses flare from the bright light sources in the picture and us a result of the increase in iso. Its all basic photography stuff, and no your cameras not buffered.
Better quality cameras and lenses can reduce it to some extent but mobile and compact cameras are very limited which us why people pay thousands for dslr's cameras and even more for quality lenses.

how can u say, daytime pics are great, video too. but night and low light is not as good though. u know any other better camera on the market?
Camera lens might be broken
My camera suddenly had problems with focusing and the pictures were terrible/not as good as they used to. Inspecting the camera lens closely did not reveal anything odd.
When I disassembled the back of my phone (removed the battery cover, removed the screws and gently took apart the back of the phone housing) I still could not see anything wrong with my camera lens/cover. The lens/cover is part of the back of the phone housing.
However, then I held the lens/cover up against a really bright light and looked through the lens/cover, I discovered that there are several layers in this lens/cover and that one of them had cracks (looked like a snowflake). It was impossible to see this without disassembling the phone housing and holding the cover up against a bright light looking though it.
Trying to take a picture without the cover everything was perfect. Ordered a new phone housing from ebay the same day...
Your pictures seems to have the same characteristics as mine; not focused and a bit blurry. Try to remove the back of your phone housing and see if that helps. If it does; order a new phone housing.

Wow, that's quite obvious too.
Haven't seen this red dot in any of my pics so think it must be a hardware fault...

A camera that only works properly in daylight is a terrible camera, regardless of how good the daytime photos are. Tbh I'm just a bit mad about the night video focus crap.
btw, with the old rom my lens was moving out hitting the glass making a clicking noise, xxkg1 (XEF)
now updated official poland version
and there is no clicking? is that normal?
Also, with the new version (Poland) that has no cliicking, when i change the scene to text (i guess its macro in english) i do get a small clicking sound again - the lens moving against the glass.
Hey its me again, I still didnt solve my pervious problem and here is another one!
I have hot pixels on my front camera sensor! I attatched a picture of me hanging out with a friend and you can clearly see the hot lixels EVERYWHERE! It doesnt hapen in indoor shots nor with the back camera. Should I take it back (the phone)?
I am starting to think that I bought a crappy phone I mean it get hot as hell, I have cellular issues, and now the camera? WTF! K should have bought the One X
That's Normal, the front camera have a low resolution sensor.
Use the back camera.
Sent from my LT26i using Tapatalk 2
No no no. It cant be a low resolution problem. In lower light conditions, the photos ale less crisp of course, but dont have theese white dots all over them. I think the sensor might be oversensitive to light or something
Front camera is always bad quality.
It has been designed for HD video, not clear picture camera for every day use.

Yeah, I gues you are right... Should have fought about it a little sooner... Sorry
Front cameras should't be so noisy.
My girlfriend iPhone 4S makes bit noisy and blurred photos, but no hot pixels.
Hello guys.
I'm thinking about this phone.
Everything is excellent, but still im concerned about camera(front facing/selfie)
So, would anybody share his/her selfie with me?
And... what phone wins: Zenfone 2 or OnePlus X in matter of selfie?
here a selfie on a movie set. it was quite dark in the room. no daylight and some smoke maybe.

the built-in camero of OOS. For me it's good enough.
Acc to me front camera is betrer than most of the phones
I believe ,my friends, and all who have seen my phone,
Says tht its front camera is second to none.
To be honest i feel the front cameea to be the best of all the phones i have seen.
Oos camera is pretty good with face beauty and it works perfectly.
Normal images are clear to .
And if u want to buy this phone becoz of the camera ,then i shall remind u . it give perfect shot for selfies!! ??
I've seen people complaining that this front camera gave too much distortion comparing to other device. Honesty, I don't have comparison point and I don't use it....
A few months back I upgraded my phone from op2 to LG g5 H860.
So, I've been playing around with my phone and I noticed that my camera pictures are grainy. Seems like pictures taken on a 5mp (or lesser) camera.
I took pictures with my camera (all default settings and auto mode) without any zoom and after capturing I tried to zoom in into the picture, like 20% zoom to notice that they are very noisy. I'm not so good at photography, so I never bothered to check this kind of stuff with my other phones before.
I have taken pictures with both rear and front cameras and they both look very noisy. Like water color painted pictures. I'm not sure if I'm putting the right words here but I think you get what I am talking about. I am adding a sample attachment.
Can someone tell me if this is normal or am I missing something here or if there's some problem with my phone itself?
I am already frustrated that I can't unlock my bootloader and I hope this wouldn't add more to it.
Do you tried clear the lenses?

Yes I did. But that doesn't seem to be like a problem with dirty lenses?
Man, I had the same exact problem.. buy new lens.
Try manual mode and turn down the iso speed. Sometimes higher iso speeds produce heavy grain. See if that helps any.

I had this problem as well. I turned off HDR under settings and that fixed it.
Anybody here tried some lens for the P20/P20P camera? What model you tried and how does it perform?!?
Here is one using 52mm star 8+ under night mode
i'd love love a good wide angle one. i almost regret selling my v30 and upgrading to this. never use the zoom, but would have used wide angle as my default. anyone? the post above looks good clean enough at 52mm

IMHO, the p20 pro cameras all work in tandem, at least the 40mp + 10mp monochrome. You will suffer from diminished quality since your universal lens addon is only attached to one lens.

It wasnt anounced that they worked together, but they have in the past so they probably do. We'll see, I might try one if nobody else does.

You can try but based on what I know, you will be making some sacrifices here and there.
For instance, there are a bunch of sensors used for colour detection and a focus sensor sandwiched between the colour and zoom lens. If you use those clip on lenses you will be blocking the sensors.
The cameras I'm 99.999999999% sure they work together. That's the whole point of their marketing. A dedicated monochrome sensor to enhance image quality etc etc.
With multiple cameras in our phones these days, aftermarket add on lens means you get more trade offs when you use one of them.
i recently ordered one off Amazon. An AUKEY one for $10cdn
thinking having the wide angle would come in handy.
I will report back the quality of the pics when its clipped on. If im not satisfied, i will simply return it.

Yep. The phone uses at least two of the sensors together, if not all three.
Taken using a 0.45x super wide angle lens under night mode.
Can you take a picture with and without that wide lens so we can see the difference?

I got one of these for my old phone, didn't know what to expect
This is where ois really plays a part.
Did you know how many times it says "ONE POUND" on a one pound coin,?
From the macro I got I could see it !!
Amazing
25 times
Those bobbles aren't bobbles. They're words.
I'd recommend it so long as they're high grade. No plastic holders
Good morning,
Any link to buy it, or trade?
