Microsoft exchange suddenly started draining my battery. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Just looking to see if anyone has any answers to the issues im having with my android phone at the moment. I upgraded 2 months back to the LG G4 H815, i had all my email addresses set up including hotmail and one outlook address. The phone was running fine and ive found the battery was brilliant and lasts all day no problem with medium to heavy use. I even have music on my micro sd that i listen to as im going to sleep and can wake up in the morning and the music is still playing and has only used 15% of the battery which i found unbelievable. Anyway, the last 3 days the battery has been running dead after just two or so hours, and on going into the battery usage i noticed that Microsoft Exchange had been hammering my battery, and i havent changed any settings whatsoever so why suddenly is Microsoft exchange using 68% of my battery? I know all hotmail addresses have been taken over by outlook, but is it a hardware fault or a fault on the Microsoft side. My HTC One still deals with it just fine, wish id of stuck with my trusty HTC one m7 (brilliant phones) but like a fool i gave it to my wife!
Any help on this would be very much appreciated.
Regards, Martin.

Hi,
I have the same problem, did you found the solution?
Thank you.

Yes I did, don't add your hotmail or outlook addresses through Microsoft Exchange, add them in "other".
Seemed to fix the problem for me.
Good luck, hope it works for you too.

Sprint mogul Titan WM6.1 Rom update killed exchange ser. activesync

(Sorry in advance for the long Email also I believe I may have posted it in the wrong secrtion earlier today) I purchased a Mogul from RS about three weeks ago. For the first week, it worked great! I logged into my company exchange server down loaded and synced email, cal, contacts, tasks ... was very excited. I also got very excited when I started t read threads in this blog .... it seems like there are some pretty smart members maybe someone can help!!
Noticed that there was a new Rom (sprint TV and improved connection) installed the ROM.
Have spent endless hours with HTC technical support, sprint technical support (not an appropriate name). At times managed to get the email to load but never again Cal, Tasks, contacts. Always able to get sent emails to load. I'm left with a couple of alternatives (any others would be greatly appreciated (actually I really like this phone but I need my email, schedule, etc to work) The error is 0x8503001C there is no exact description about this from MSmobile it seems to be an awh**** code. Searching on the web provides 1000s of hits unfortunately not just my issue.
o Go to an early Rom WM6.0. So far it seems like to do this I need to unlock the phone then flash the earlier rom?? Since no SIM card I need to hack the registry?? There are several products out there which is best (I do not mind paying for something that works well). I down loaded several "Oficial ROm versions ... unfortunately did not write down the number of the one the phone came with.
o Find some way of getting this thing to work well to keep the extra features
o My grace period ends in a week ... cancel with Sprint go to Att but there is not a 3G phone I like ... only Iphone ... it has issues for exchange server??
o I got my wife a Touch at the same time (it runs WM6.1) same issue. Downloaded once my corp email no cal, etc.
o I was told that this Rom was cooked up by MS & Sprint what a disaster
Please, please help ... Thanks in advance

Sending SMS from PC

Hi all
not been on here for a while, since I had my Blue Angel I think! Good to see that it's expanded massively and still full of information.
So today I received my new Hero(s). Great little device so far, only had it a couple of hours but got all my contacts and calendar synchronised with Outlook etc.
But, with my N96 I could send SMS from my laptop whilst hooked up to the phone via Bluetooh. It was very handy because I have poor reception in the house, and could leave my phone on the window-sill and send/receive texts onto the laptop. Has anyone seen a way to do this with HTC devices, and in particular the Hero?
Cheers for any help, and I look forward to being active on this site again!
Dan
This not possible then? Does nobody else think it's a great feature of Nokia's that's missing from this device. I spend a lot of time at my laptop, and I'd much rather send an SMS from there than have to pick up the Hero and do it.
Shame really.

(Archos) Anrova 10 g2

I wonder if anybody can enlighten me on a couple of issues with the Arnova 10 g2? I bought one for my daughter for Christmas and I am less than happy.
As far as I can tell by searching online the Appslib market pretty much never works - okay, it is Christmas and every kid and his mate has probably just gotten one - but still, I am seeing the same problems reported last year at this time.
More annoying is that it will not connect to Facebook at all. Just keeps telling me there is a server error. It is connected fine to wi-fi at home and I can understand the market being dross, but why won't it connect to Facebook servers?
Anybody have any advice or had the same issues and resolved them?
Don't have an Arnova, but you might check this forum.

[Q] Ipone 5 to Note 2 problems

Hi all
I’ll try to give as much detail as possible. I just switched over from AT&T with an Iphone 3Gs to Verizon and purchased two iPhone 5's with a family plan. The next day I seen my friends Note 2 and liked it so much that I took my iPhone back and exchanged it for the Note 2 and paid a $30 restock charge.
After playing around with the phone for an hour or so, I installed Kies on my Windows 7 Professional 64-bit Dell Laptop because I wanted to sync the phone with my Microsoft Office Outlook contacts. I kept getting a "device not supported alert" from Kies every time I hooked up the phone. I downloaded it and re-installed it 4 times with the same error and YES the drivers installed correctly.
After a 15 page chat session and 2-1/2 hour (mostly waiting) phone call with Samsung technical support, I got no answer to this issue except one tech in the chat said Kies does not work with Windows 64-bit and that it only works on Windows 32-bit, but the guy on the phone support told me Kies does work with Windows 64-bit and had me reinstall it again and still not working.
I thought there might be something conflicting in my system with Kies or the phone, so I tried installing it on my GF's 64 bit Dell laptop also (which is a 1 year old system and not much stuff installed on there) and still got the same error.
After what came to be 12 hours of trouble shooting time, I brought back the phone back to Verizon. They were insisting that I was doing something wrong so they had me bring the laptop to them so they could try.
We reinstalled Kies and the drivers there and again couldn’t get the phone to sync. We tried the Note 2 on their 32–bit system and the phone connected. Then we tried an earlier Samung phone (forgot which one) on my 64-bit sytem and Kies did recognize the phone and wanted to sync. Verizon’s response: We have no idea why the note 2 won’t sync with 64-bit Duhhh
Another 2 hours of wasted time and a little worried, I told the manager to put me back on the Iphone which they did at no charge, but said I can’t switch again. A few days later, well I am not exactly liking the Iphone 5 and thinking to maybe get the Note 2 again. Before I do I was wondering the following:
1) Since Verizon told me I can’t change my phone again, thinking of possibly having my son bring his iPhone in and swapping it for Note 2. Will we be able to swap the Sim or something to trade the phones?
2) The default alarm sounds on the Note 2 alarm clock are to low for me (used to the Alarm sound on the Iphone) Is there a custom way to select a different sound via my own sounds or an alarm app that will let me program my sound?
3) Anybody possibly know why Note 2 won’t be recognized on 64-bit? Or is there another syncing software I can use besides sync??
4) Is there some other solution I can use to sync the phone with Outlook besides Kies?
5) Am I correct in thinking that I can possibly load my pictures, music etc on my sd card reader and then have Note 2 recognize the files on the card if the phone won't sync?
Sorry for the lengthy post & thanks’ in advance
Mike
What version of Windows are you using. Professional isn't too specific.
Kies does not support Note 2 on Verizon.
And yes loading your files onto an SD card will work.
The email app not the Gmail app should work for outlook sync.
Don't take my answers as definitive

Will we be able to swap the Sim or something to trade the phones? ( Yes, this is possible and very easy for them. It's not as simple as swapping your sim card though. Tell them exactly what you are doing. I'd be amazed if they didn't do it. If it's within your exchange window, i'd go to Best Buy and explain your situation. Buy from them and return your other phones to the Verizon store. Best Buy matches the cheapest prices on all the major online sellers like amazonwireless/letstalk/wirefly. Good Luck
2) The default alarm sounds on the Note 2 alarm clock are to low for me (used to the Alarm sound on the Iphone) Is there a custom way to select a different sound via my own sounds or an alarm app that will let me program my sound?Just change what ring tone/ sound you want for your alarm.
3) Anybody possibly know why Note 2 won’t be recognized on 64-bit? Or is there another syncing software I can use besides sync??I had the same issue but got it to work after many restarts and uninstalls
4) Is there some other solution I can use to sync the phone with Outlook besides Kies?are you connecting to a corporate MS Exchange Server? If so everything will sync automagically (email, calendar, contacts, notes, etc.) Just need your corporate configuration. ask your admin to walk you through it. IF not, google how to sync your Outlook contacts with Google contacts via your required google email account. You will love Google/Android if you stick it out. You're almost there and much to learn about Gmail...
5) Am I correct in thinking that I can possibly load my pictures, music etc on my sd card reader and then have Note 2 recognize the files on the card if the phone won't sync? I'd recommend you install dropbox on your Note 2 and computer. It will sync all your pics. make sure you. Yes, you can just move stuff via the micro sd card too.
sorry for your experience with a Verizon store. I have a local BestBuy Mobile and those guys are great! Better prices, they actually match Amazon Wireless, Wirefly and Letstalk prices! They are truly great at the BestBuy Mobile near me.
Sorry for the lengthy post & thanks’ in advance

Windows 7
or just export your contacts to a file, then import them in google contacts......which probably would've taken 3 minutes.....
google contacts
the alarm thing yes, you can use whatever file you want. just don't use the ascending thing, that may have made it seem low to you..but it slowly gets louder.
and yes, manually drag and drop files to the sd card.........
you've really been using an iphone for a while ehhh
you can even dld music online and play them on the note without using itunes...crazy right?
Ditch the iPhone 5, ditch kies, put your contacts on Google and sync away. As for not being allowed to swap your phone again, well you can always talk to a CSR and explain the situation and honestly the Verizon store is full of ID10T'S anyways so if anything they should have known something beyond sorry we can't help you.
I had the iP5 ditched that sucker after a month and won't be returning to the land of kiddie iOS anytime soon. Android does offer more options and ways to have fun. Sounds to me like its 64bit windows issue which I can say is a POS and doesn't like to work with a lot of things. I got new desktop at work and it came with it and low and behold I cannot use my Cisco webcam that I actually do need and there was no downgrade option to 32bit so I am still after 6 months trying to find drivers, options anything.
You paid a lot of money for two phones don't let them push you into using yet another upgrade they SHOULD make it RIGHT, if not go to another store other than the one you went to and explain to a manager or someone with a brain. I would also suggest in the future visit Best Buy, they have a 30 day return window and I have had to swap out twice on devices, they are more willing to help.
I'm not going to get in to all of those questions but the one about the alarm clock is a very valid question (easy fix though) for anyone new to android. I know Samsung is going for this whole nature sound thing but for the love of god the stock alarm sounds are SOOTHING. My personal favorite alarm sound is the rooster on Motorola devices because its so loud and annoying.
Samsung you're trying to wake us up with those alarm sounds not make us dream we're soaking up rays on the beach. And yes I know we can get different alarms and sounds before everyone jumps down my throat.

You can log into iCloud via your web browser and download your contacts as a .vcf file. That file can be imported into gmail which will sync with your device.
Thanks
Thanks for the help, I'm back on the Note 2 :good:

[Q] Discovery V5 troubleshoot

I need help with the phone. I have discovery V5, android 4.2.2 Z3Z6Z7W MAUI.11AMD.W11.50.SP....... etc phone where battery life is no longer then 3 hours on standby. I have received 2 batteries and both of them have same life expectancy. When I contacted supplier I bought it from, they agreed to send another battery, but the problem is same even with the 3rd battery. So, I am guessing issue is with the phone but I am hoping it is something to do with the system and it could be fixed with some kind of update. I am not an expert in those things but being into elecltronics for more then 20 yrs, I do have some kind of knowledge, but not enough in this sphere.
Any ideas what could i do and how, please ?
