Hi
I am using verizon lg g3 vs98510b rooted running kitkat, wanted to update to official lollipop i have tried to update through ota but might be in my region ota is not available i live in pak whenever i press system update button in setting nothing happens
Can anyone tell me how to update my device to official lollipop. Kindly let me know the procedure step by step in an easy way as i am not an advanced user.
Hi!
Update your custom recovery to TWRP v2.8.7.0, or use TWRP Manager to flash that on your phone if you don't have a custom recovery yet. Then flash one of the stock-based ROMs: @xdabbeb 's VS985 ROM 2.0, @hsbadr 's JasmineROM 9.0+9.1 update, or @HolyAngel 's SkyDragon v6.x, all in the Development section.
Although you used to be able to take OTAs while rooted as long as you had the stock recovery, the OTA from 12B (KitKat) to 23C (Lollipop) took that away and in fact you can no longer even take OTAs at all if you're rooted.

I have rooted my G3 but I'm still using the stock recovery. What steps will I need to take to be able to do the OTA for Lollipop when it happens? I don't want to do any custom Roms just yet.

But understand that the 5.0 OTA may be very difficult to root. Personally, I'll wait to see what the experiences of others are, and hope for a pre-rooted versiom of 5.0.
I need a bit of help with this one.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 on Verizon, Android 4.4.2 Build VRUFNK4 (I believe this is an intermediate build between the stock VRUFNK1 and Lollipop).
What I'd like to do is root, backup the current build and then revert back if possible to VRUFNK1.
I'm new to rooting a phone so I could use a bit of help and links. I've read many of the posts and tips, but most specifically don't mention my build, which makes me a bit nervous.
Will towelroot work with this ?
Should I use TWRP or Titanium for backup ?
And.........can I find and revert back to the official build VRUFNK1 (4.4.2)
I simply want to get out of this strange build, remove bloatware........ and have some control over not being pestered over OTA updates from Verizon/Samsung.
Possibly, in the future, I'll play around with some custom ROM's.
Any help and opinions would be appreciated.
For what it's worth...................
After digging around on the net for a few days, I found the following. Now, I can't be sure if this works, so consider the implications. If someone else here on XDA can verify it then it might work.
If you have a Verizon Galaxy S4 with the 4.4.2 build of VRUFNK4 this was part one of two updates to Lollipop. Many people like me had been deferring the update and then somehow pushed the wrong button and "wham" got stuck with VRUFNK4., but they were able to stop further installation to Lollipop.
So for people stuck on VRUFNK4 it's pretty much the same as the previous VRUFNK1 except mine seems to eat battery power. AND, from what I know VRUFNK4 is not directly rootable( list below).
i545vrugOC1 5.0.1 Lollipop
i545vrufnk4 4.4.2 (intermediate update to prepare for Lollipop, part one)
i545vrufnk1 4.4.2 Kitkat
i545vrufng6 4.4.2 Kitkat
i545vrufnc5 4.4.2 Kitkat
So, you basically have three choices:
-- Leave it on VRUFNK4 (which is part one of a two part update to Lollipop) and live with the issues.
-- Allow the update all the way to Lollipop and live with Lollipop (and possibly root there)
-- Use the following procedure (yet to be confirmed by someone here at XDA and hopefully help with details)
1. Use Odin 3.09 to flash back to VRUFNC5 (KitKat 4.4.2)
2. If the flash is successful, root with TowelRoot
3. Once rooted on NC5 you should be able to flash whatever build you want, backup and recovery using
Titanium Backup, etc.
Anyone that wants to chime in here, it would be appreciated.
Just thinking.........
Could someone with experience in flashing explain to me why a person can't flash directly to a certain build, in this case,
Android 4.4.2 VRUFNK1 from a newer one (reverting to an earlier build) ??
from what i understand, you should be able to flash anything from NC5 and above via odin with NK4. the Bootloader was changed in lollipop builds OC1 and OF1 so that you can no longer downgrade to older builds from those.
Thanks bangdosa for the info. You seem to be familiar with all this stuff.
So, just to clarify, would it be true that if you're on NK4, you could flash using Odin to NC5 ? And hopefully root.

Hi, it been a long time since I have been on here. I'm running 4.4.2 stock based Rom and want to upgrade to SD or Jasmine and not sure which is more stable. There is too much to read between the to roms so if someone can help that would be great.
As far as I know, both and also @xdabbeb 's VS985 ROM are all just as stable as stock 35B / LG Android 5.1.1 since they're all based on it. I never experienced any more or less stability on one versus another versus 100% unrooted stock, which I was on recently after the 35B OTA came out and we couldn't figure out how to be able to downgrade to re-root at first.
Hello everyone. I haven't been in the game for awhile and the last time I was around was with Kit Kat 4.4.4 PACROM. I want to upgrade to VanirAOSP 5.1.1 (november build) and from the vague reading on these forums and a thread on CM11 --> CM12.1, I've already updated TWRP to a recent version (2.8.7.0). Other than that, since I'm already rooted and I'm running an AOSP ROM, can I simply download VanirAOSP 5.1.1 and the appropriate gapps and do a clean flash with no problem? Or is there something else I am missing?
It might refuse to flash without the right modem. You can try flashing it and see. If it complains, it probably wants either the 23C, 24B or 35B modem. For 24B or 35B, the easiest and best way would be to flash either the 24B or 35B "bootstack" (includes the modem) from @xdabbeb 's VS985 v2.0 thread in the Development section before the ROM. Regardless of which modem the ROM wants before you flash it, you should be able to flash the 35B bootstack after flashing the ROM, if it didn't like the 35B bootstack before flashing the ROM. Hope that's not too confusing.
if you want the latest TWRP, TWRP 3.0 was released. They are pretty much the same besides major UI enhancements.
Thanks for all the help guys. Just upgraded to TWRP 3.0. I downloaded all those bootstacks and Vanir 5.1.1 and generic gapps for Lolipop. Hopefully all goes well.

Well, if you are officially on the unrooted, stock 5.1.1, and haven't installed the custom recovery, you can just take the OTAs. That would be the easiest route.
If you have bumped with TWRP or have a custom stock 5.1.1 ROM, or are rooted, then look for any of the threads that discuss how to revert back to 10B and once that has occurred, you can take the OTAs to upgrade to the latest MM version.
Actually, just a thread or two below this one is the guide you're looking for:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/lg-g3-downgrade-to-10b-t3354834
Not to sound mean or nasty, but I won't repeat what is in that thread because it's repeating things that are already outlined and just pollutes the forum.
Hope this helps!
Flash the 47A KDZ with LG Flash Tool 2014 if you're not using Verizon and therefore can't take OTAs.

actually i dont have verision sim or nothing. and Version is not Available in my Country.
You could flash this latest image if you want then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/vs985-46a-stock-flashable-firmware-t3304365
You'll have to root and then bump with TWRP to flash it if you're not already rooted and bumped.
