This morning I realized that my phone had not received any OTAs yet, so I sideloaded the MDA89D to MDB08K zip (find it here) and then got the MDB08L OTA notification as soon as the phone booted up.
In talking with friends with a 6P and looking at other threads, there seem to be a lot of users that are still on the factory MDA89D build, so I'm wondering if the delay is carrier specific.
FWIW, I activated my 6P without a SIM card and then have been using it with T-Mobile. Checking available updates always showed nothing was available.
It seems like Verizon users are not getting OTAs yet, as expected from an existing thread. T-Mobile users *should* be getting one since they are turning Band 12 off with it.

OTA got nothing to do with carrier you are on.
Sent from my Nexus 6P
I did not receive the OTA, but I did flash the new factory image as soon as I unlocked the bootloader.
yes just received phone in the mail today after setting everything up I got the OTA update installed with no problem
I simply just change the date few weeks forward. I didn't receive both updates soon so I just fast forwarded date a little. Then updates pop up on both times. Should give it a try before going on a manual flash route.
Didn't have to do anything, it just arrived while I was updating my S5 to 5.1.1.
Was reading an article recently where a Google engineer explained how updates go.
1% get the update first, if no problems
25% get the update, if no problems
50% get the update, if no problems
Etc etc
No mention of a time frame between percentages though.
I got the device Friday, on k version, got the l update earlier today.
Expect to see them monthly as Google is releasing security updates on a monthly basis now.
Need one for carrier less. Updated before putting sim in.
Got an OTA this AM on Fi Sittin on MDB08L. I have an unlocked bootloader as well.
I got my 6P today and turned it on. As soon as I signed into my Google account it told me that I required a software update. Didn't even finish the setup wizard before it downloaded and installed.
I ordered through Project Fi as soon as I got my invite. They sent the sim with it and I put it in and turned it on. Boom, update.
Yep got one today.

Interesting method, if the updates are IMEI based as it is believed, this shouldn't work.

It's interesting to see that, so far, most voters who have not received an update are on another carrier (or carrier-less), or Verizon. I was interested in seeing what Sprint users are experiencing, but there has only been one Sprint user voting so far (a friend on Sprint has not received any).

Unfortunately, I can't edit it, but, no carrier would fall under "Other Carrier"

Already flashed the update through mskip's toolkit. No wiping of data required though it flashes the whole ROM, not just the update (900mb).
I'm on AT&T. I got the first OTA when I turned the phone on for the first time, but where the hell is the November security patch? I thought it was supposed to start rolling out on November 1, yet it is November 10 and I still don't have it? What the hell Google? I understand a slow rollout of a major update, but security patches should be available to everyone on day 1, if not automatically, then sure as hell if they press the damn update button in settings. This is why companies don't take Google seriously when they talk about security.
I click "Check for Update" and nothing happens, says last time it was checked was November 30th. Tried rebooting, rebooting with no sim card . . . any ideas??
Just got one. Taking FOREVER to optimize apps. Painfully slow.
Just got my update through Telus in Canada. Installing right now.
just got 128gb 6P and got it activated on Sprint .. OTA about 15-20min after

it's sprint's fault then? can't wait for 3.2
Globatron,
I want to thank you for all your useful posts and I also had question.
I own an Evo View since my wife works for Sprint's ad agency and won one via a raffle. I do not have Sprint Service so its essentially a wi-fi only tablet, do you know when and if the Honeycomb updated releases will View owners like myself with no Sprint service be left out in the cold?
I havent gotten a straight answer from Sprint and it seems like you may know people there.
I can't answer that for 100% certain but I would strongly doubt it, the update servers generally just check the model id and CID to make sure it's a valid device not whether you have an active contract. In any case it doesn't really matter becasue we'll put the HC up here anyway once it roll out.

Correct. After I purchased another evo view with no sprint service and no hands free activation I was able to download the updates for it via wi-fi.
The sprint service is mainly for the mobile data ability (3g/4g) and text messages. Other than that you can do everything over wi-fi.

Agreed. I too have a sprint-less view and I recieved a security update today when I hit WiFi. The only thing I didn't see was the file size I was hoping for in the update. 4.56mb instead of 210.
i think its out, i have an update on my view tablet but I wont update until i can confirm that recovery can be unlocked.
A couple of devices has already locked recovery on 3.0 and I hope history doesn't repeat it self
Does anyone know if I update my HTC View (with leaked ROM, not waiting for OTA official update), will I lose 4G?

i have the view and the update came up. Only thing im on the sprint rom. So if you want it now flash one of the old sprints roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062184 - link for all the flyer roms just download one with sprint in its name
but remember when you update you will lose your root
Did you flash it, got any screens for us?
I don't know if location matters, but I'm on the west coast of the US with the View 4G on Sprint and I most definitely do not have the firmware update available on my tablet when I go to check system updates.
Still not reading anywhere about whether or not updating to the leaked ROM will ruin the 4G...I guess I'm just gonna wait. Further, since no one has the actual official update on Sprint's devices (or at least has posted) how do we know if we'll lose the ability to root the device? That's, from all accounts, a rumor since it's happened to other devices in the past...Not all, but some. So it's not confirmed.
Is there anyone out there who has actually flashed their Sprint HTC View to the leaked ROM (who also uses the data plan from Sprint)? Some insight would be much appreciated about whether or not 3G and/or 4G still works after doing so. Thanks.
I tried to update via the tablet settings and I got an Error code 1233 saying it could not be completed...?
Hmmm
The update I received, I can not and will not install. The first time I let it try, I got a nifty blue Andy with a caution sign over his head that sat there for about 30 minutes. I held down the power button until it shut off and rebooted, thankfully, back to the way it was. Then I deleted the zip file.
Just checked and got the update available after a LONG wait and God knows how many checks.
Forgot to mention
Sorry forgot to mention it is just a shade over 1500 megabyte.
Yeah, since I'm not expecting root for us for a while, I went ahead and downlaoded it yesterday.
Exact size was 1505.68mb I believe.
Honestly kind of liked the old quick toggles better.
I'm happy we finally got the update and so far so good. I had hoped the long wait past the other US carriers meant 7.1 but I pretty much new that's all it was, hope. Miss the ability to go into settings with long press of the recents button. I'm watching the battery usage to see how it does for me as I have heard varying reports from great to horrible.
Whoo hoo, just got it too, look all 3 of us ATT G5 users, lol...
I'm with cricket, so i won't get the OTA. I was trying to check through LG Bridge but it keeps telling me "cannot check the sofware version." Anyone else have this issue?

I received the same error through the LG Bridge. I'm using an unlocked H820 on T-Mobile, so I cannot get the OTA either.

Yeah, I definitely think it does. I had read elsewhere that you have to have an active AT&T SIM card in the phone to get the update. That appears to be true. A coworker of mine is letting me use his AT&T SIM and now it's now downloading the update. I found that I had to check multiple times to get it to show. Since you can only check once per 24 hours, I manually changed the date to later in February and it worked with the AT&T SIM. It's still downloading, but it's 1.5GB so it has to be Nougat.
I'm outside the US, I tried the OTA and LG Bridge with my SIM unlocked H820. I can't really buy a new device since I don't have the money for it. I am incredible disappointed with this device and ATT. I will never buy from LG again.
Hey I have a G5 too! I'm excited to get home and Download this.
Mine started the update then said that the download failed... Now each time i try to check for a new update it tells me there are no updates available? Any suggestions to kick start the update?
LG G5 US AT&T here. Did the OTA update about 28 hrs ago now, and it went very smoothly. So far, I'm super pleased with the update. My phone feels faster and smoother all around, and while it's too early to tell for certain, it seems initially like batter life is noticeably improved.
I'm outside the US. Using an unlocked H820. I got an AT&T SIM card from a friend, tried updating and got a message saying my device is up to date (So no Nougat update yet). I did this with mobile data off while I was connected to Wifi. Don't have too much experience with this - Are there any specific things I need to take care of before trying to update or is it enough to just insert the SIM card and try updating? Thanks!
I'm happy we got "an update".
However, so far I'm skeptical of any battery life improvements. I suspect that Bluetooth drain is actually higher than before. And general standby drain may also be 2% or so higher...
How many cats have you all caught with the new "Easter egg?" Kinda lame, but funny too.
I don't have the fingerprint option now! Weird
I bought an unlocked h820 from b and h, when I chek for software updates it says that is up to date but im on marshmellow, what can I do?
****, didn't realize this would kill pdanet's wifi tethering. Wish I could go back.

Buy an AT&T SIM and activate it, that's the only way.
This is pretty ridiculous. I get pulling the update on April 14th due to the boot looping. But.... its June 1st and still nothing. Like June Security is gonna be out and were still sitting on launch software or March if ur phone didn't brick. Any guesses as to what the hell the holdup is? My theory is they discovered that everyone's phone is a software time bomb and any updates they are testing causes them to spazz out. And for anyone who's gonna say blah blah its how updates go...... I'm just seeing what some other theories are and letting others voice their opinions.

i have to say 2 months after an update that was pulled, and no new update is a pretty douchy thing on a just released top shelf phone,oh well history repeats itself, hopefully something soon for us
Couldn't agree more. Love T-Mobile's responses to questions.
"We know how important software updates are to customers. We want to make sure ur running the most up to date software." Big FAT Lie lol.

What features?
Most likely wifi calling.
Possibly VoLTE.
Any carrier specific apps.

Wi-Fi calling for T-Mobile works fine on the Unlocked S9+
Some of the carrier specific stuff downloads when the SIM registers to the T-Mobile network. But you can download the rest of the apps if you want them from the Play Store.
You don't have all the bloat unless you choose to install it.

Any downsides? Does SamsungPay still work? That's a big one for me.
Samsung Pay works fine. I have no downsides. Though I have never used a branded T-Mobile phone since I have been on T-Mobile, so maybe I don't know what I am missing, if anything.
There isn't that much difference. I personally wouldn't do it. There unlocked version hasn't gotten any updates either and is still sitting at Feb 1 security patches.

So stupid. I contacted support and they said they had no timeline of any future updates. Canada got theirs today...
Seems that all the S8 line has been updated on tmobile with may if im not mistaken. What do you bet we get an update tomorrow for April lmao. But really this is really really strange.
My wife's s8 active got the may update tonight. This just seems back asswards that the newest is the last on the list.

Im just new / noobie haha at this Huawei. But can somebody confirm for me if this has an issue or a throttle about the system updates?
I dont see any kind of Branding of the carrier, also dont see an splash screen at the startup of an carrieer.
Because I dont want being restricted by the carrier about the update policy of my carrier.
I'm afraid that this is an issue that if the update comes to example to the Netherlands or UK, so that the people without this ("branded-isch") carrier thing (forexample in Netherlands) will get the update early then the people who has this Carier/branded thing...
If I put an other SIMcard like forexample Vodafone, this will not popup, Only popup with the T-mobile simcard, it makes sense because I bought it at T-mobile.
Why Im making wories is because before I went to the Tmobileshop, I bought the phone without an contract at the Mediamarkt (Techshop) and put the same SIMcard in it what I have right now, and there it doesn't any thing popup what it does right now;
I just wanna to be sure otherwise I wanna cancel my contract and gonna get an other mate 20 pro without this being branded.
Is this phone now being branded?
Sounds very similar to what I have with my network in the UK which is '3'.
My phone was purchased from them on contract and is a dual sim version.
When I first but my sim in it said there was a software update available. It turns out it's just a carrier custom update which adds a splash screen and some selected apps. From previous experience with Huawei updates it seems they do not release updates here until all the carriers here approve the update which can obviously cause delays. As such I have chosen to not install the update in the hope I will soon get offers the latest 146 update. I don't know if this will actually work or not but here's hoping.
The phone keeps downloading the update but I just go into the software updater app and delete the data.

Yeah this is annoying me also... I have tweeted three & got the usual 'We customise it to give the best experience', but when I then asked about being removed from this update channel as the one they're pushing is an older version than what's already installed & I'd rather keep up to date with the monthly security updates, they've not replied...
For now, I've turned off Auto Downloading of updates now so that's one part of the problem solved, however, Software Update app still keeps posting notifications about the update, even though I've removed all permissions for it to do this.
Hello
I bought the phone couple of weeks ago, it's running Oreo 8.1.0...
I read on different pages that update "came" to Italy towards the end of November 2018, but I still can't update my device...
Every time update in system settings it just says your device is up to date...
Can someone, please, tell me why is this happening... One of the reasons I bought this phone was because Android One and now this happened..
It depends on the carrier. In the Netherlands, too, there are some carriers that haven't OKayed the Pie update yet (Vodafone).
You could try to take your sim card out of the phone and look for an update, or, even, put a different carrier's sim card into the phone and look for an update.
No guarantee that this will work, but that's what I'd do. (I was lucky enough to get the Pie update long ago, and I even received the January security update already)
I'm having the same issue. My phone is still stuck with Android 8.1 and the november security patches.
I've contacted the Nokia support and they told me to clear the Google Play Store cache and reboot in safe mode.
I've also tried other solutions on my own, such as clearing the Google Play Services cache and rebooting without the SIM, but nothing changed.
The phone is carrier unlocked (in Italy we say "no brand"), model TA-1095, bought from Amazon Italy a couple of weeks ago.
UPDATE: I've contacted the Nokia support once more and I was told to "just wait" because the update is only released to 10% of the user base and the rest will get it "soon".
Guys, I just read about someone from .nl who also didn't get any updates via Vodafone. When he popped a free SIM card from another provider into the phone, updates started immediately. YMMV of course.
I also continue with Oreo and the security patch of November, they told me that it also spares

Have you tried my solution? Just take another sim card for a few minutes (from another operator), you never know, it might work.
