I am using a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900A. I was unsatisfied with android 5.1.1 so I decided to downgrade. I followed this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785363
Now my phone says: "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
Kies says that the connected device is not supported. However, Odin still detects my device, but keeps failing to load Android KitKat. At this point, I don't care what firmware I'm using as long as I get my S5 back to normal. Please help.
You absolutely can not downgrade that phone. The locked bootloader prevents this. There are no work arounds. You can only use the same build version or newer of the software.
Thanks, I followed part of this method to restore my phone:

Hello, I'm using Samsung s4 (GT-I9505 carrier free) device and I tried to root my device with ODIN. But the process got failed and now my device is briked. When I switch on my device I get an error "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in kies & try again". I tried recovering my device using kies but kies was unable to initialize my device model. Please help me to unbrick my device. Thanks in advance.
Recently I have tried to root my Samsung Galaxy 3 7.0 (SM-T210R) WiFi edition. After unsuccessfully attempting to install a custom rom, I believe I have accidentally deleted the stock rom for the device..So now, whenever I turn the device on, it automatically brings me to CWM recovery. I have tried to install a different rom onto the device unsucessfully, giving me an error saying "format() expects 5 args, got 4" It also says (Status 7). I have also tried to connect my device to my computer and hook it up to Odin, but Odin does not recognize the device. If anybody is able to resolve my issue I would greatly appreciate it.

I can not do either of those methods, because my computer no longer recognizes this device when I plug it in.

Hello everyone, I have a problem with Bell sgs2 and I'm from Ukraine,so please sorry for my English.
A little bit of history: my sister from Canada closed her contract with bell and sent me the phone. As it turned out, device was still locked, so I tried to download the latest firmware and make unlock. Firstly I tried to unlock the phone running Android 2.3.3 with custom kernel by using galaxy_S unlock app, it was succesful, but I wanted latest firmware and tried to flash different unofficial ROMs. Every time I did it nothing happened because of different errors.
Problem starts here:
Then installed rooted official ROM Android ICS with Odin and noticed that in Kies there was an update for my device. Tried to install it, but it failed when the phone was in download mode (because of damaged usb cable maybe). In Kies they wrote that I should disconnect device and take out battery. I did it.
Now when I turn it on it stops on Samsung logo. I still can open download mode or stock recovery, which is great. But the problem is that Odin doesn't recognize the phone anymore while it is in download mode. Tried to uninstall, install drivers - nothing happened. The good thing is that I can see my phone with adb when it is in recovery, tried to install some zips from sideload or external sd card - nothing happened ( Error, status 7). So basically I can't install official md5 ROM from sammobile because of Odin and can't find normal zips for recovery.
Please help Will be grateful!!!
I recently bought a GS5 Att model SM-G900A and attempted (foolishly it would seem) to downgrade the OS version. Unfortunately this caused some sort of issue that has forced the phone to be unable to boot or enter recovery mode. It will go into download mode but neither Odin nor Kies can seem to flash. Kies gives a falure and prompts me to recover but it wont recognize the phone to recover it. Odin always falils after Nand writing and the phone gives SW rev check fail : aboot fused 4> binary 1. After some research I suspect it has something to do with the 5.0 OS making it impossible for the 4.4.2 to flash. But I cant seem to find G900AUCU2AND3 anywhere and even kies doesn't find it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated
I attempted to flash my SM-T970 XAR with stock firmware using Odin. It failed, and now says "An error has occurred while updating the device software". Is there any way I can recover or have I just bricked my S7+? Any help would be greatly appreciated...
Try the Samsung smart switch(PC) to recovery if not you need fine the frp hijack by hagard do recovery(sofebrick)...reboot it will got you back to download mode.
Smart switch was unable to locate the device, but I tried flashing again using Odin and it worked this time! No idea why the first time failed - I did it exactly the same way.
