[Q]Wildfire S - ideas how to use it - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
So basically I have HTC Wildfire S that I'm not currently using. It just lay in the drawer and I'm thinking what I can do with it. I just installed there CM 10.1 ROM and I thought that I'll use it as testing phone for my apps that I'm looking forward to do. But right now I have no ideas how to use it.
One guy in another category where I posted this question suggested to use it as a router but I have WiFi in house and I think that without SIM card in HTC that will not work.
Any other ideas?

[Q] Upgrading a TELUS Hero to 2.1?

Hey guys, my friend bought a TELUS Hero on eBay a while back, and now she's having troubles with it. So she wanted me to help her put another ROM on it to see if it would fix some issues.
Here are a few details:
-Currently she uses it with AT&T
-The bottom portion of the screen seems reluctant to work, but she says that part of the screen works when she puts the phone in landscape mode and tries pressing something like backspace, p, or something similar.
-She has the same issues with other keyboards (she's tried Swype).
So here are my questions:
Is it just a broken screen? If not, what are some of your favorite ROMs available? Also is it even worth touching the radio?
Thanks for any help/insight anyone can provide.

newbie looking for hotspot info

Hi all, simple question for the experts here. We have a new Fascinate phone and I just recently got an iPad 2 that I would like to tether to the phone as a hotspot (for free if at all possible).
I don't want to root the phone because quite frankly, this isn't a huge issue for us and I don't want to screw it up. I am simply asking if other methods work for activating the hotspot without root? I am not interested in wired tethering because this is for the iPad.
I see the QPST hack posted on a couple of forums...does that work? Is it as easy as it sounds? I also saw on a few Droid X forums something about a 4636 code and airplane mode? Does that work on the Fascinate?
If nothing works besides rooting, that is fine. Just wanted a final confirmation.

[Q] Unlocked TMOUS HD2 on ATT With Energy ROM APN/Data Setup

Hi gang,
First off, I just wanted to say that this site is kickass and I appreciate all the hard work the devs have put into helping breathe new life into devices such as the HD2.
As the title states I have an unlocked HTC HD2 that I have flashed with Energy ROM. The phone can make phone calls, however, when I try to do anything data related (surf the web, access Pandora, receive email, etc.) I get a connection error. I have scoured the web for a few hours trying to find the proper APN settings but have yet to find a configuration that will work. Is there anyone out there that is running the Energy ROM and that has successfully setup their HD2 on the ATT network to be able to actually utilize the EDGE data capabilities? If so, I would really be grateful if I could get some assistance on getting my phone to work fully. I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere and will keep looking in the meantime. Cheers!
Please disregard, I found a thread with the proper settings! For anyone else looking to get this to work with a similar setup like mine the thread that got mine working is:

[Q] Galaxy S3 knockoff - does GPS work, can I change firmware?

Hi all
I hope that I am in the right place.
I currently have a MyTouch phone but was in China last week and saw these Galaxy S3 knockoffs and figured I would buy one.
I am now back in the States and the Galaxy works quite well but there are a few things I cannot get to work and was hoping someone could help.
Firstly the data connection from my service provider seems quite slow compared to the MyTouch.
Secondly the GPS does not seem to work. I have tried a few different combinations but no luck. I have enabled and disabled the Google location in the settings to no avail. I have left the phone on for more than 15 minutes trying to get a GPS signal but still no luck.
I know that the phone is a knockoff and did not expect much but it sure does work faster than the MyTouch – apart from the GPS and data.
So my question is –
Is there a way to get it to work? Would it be possible to reload the software on the phone with one from an original Galaxy? I am not sure of the terminology but does that mean I would need to flash the phone or root the phone – if this is the case, how easy is it to do and would it brick my phone?
Where would I get the firmware from to do so?
Any (detailed) help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

As far as i know these SGS3 knockoffs or clones do not have the same hardware as the SGS3 so you can't use custom SGS3 roms.
This forum is of no use to you unfortunately, do a search for your model on Google and you should find some forums that might help you

[Q] can i make htc one x and gear s to work together?

HTC one X not beeing able to connect
Hello,
of course I am new here and probably every one will lough at my problem. My wife bought me Samsung Gear S and I am trying to make it working with my HTC one X. I have already updated and rooted this phone and now I am running Android 4.4.2 (3.1.10 cyanogenmod, AOSB KitKat version 1.3.2) which my friend installed for me. I have also followed the main instruction of this post and was able to install software and get the gear s to appear to my phone. Unfortunatelly the gear manager keeps trying to connect and nothing happens. the GEAR S is waiting for configuration and the phone with gear manager is trying to connect with the watch.
is that possible that this HTC one X is not compatible with gear s?
Thank you for any help.

You can try to do the Gear Manager mod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
I have found that this is a proven way to get the two connected. However, as i read thru the forum, it seems tho some things don't work and problems began to appear with some members.
This is how I solved the issue with my HTC One. It works very well and has yet to cause any issues.

I really think you'll love this watch... One of the better SW's I've tried. The Tizen os has a great GUI, but lacks severely in available apps. Hopefully, that will change... but I'm not holding my breath. Overall, the stock apps are sufficient to do all the necessary tasks... but that's about it, not much customizing here.
I do know that root has already been achieved. This should open the doors for some decent mods. So check the forums often.
Good luck!
still not done
So far no luck. I have follow all the instructions from the post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2723862
and got to the point that I pair the devices. If I use newest version of the soft the gear manager does not see my watch. When I instaled instead older version (~1.7 -2.0) than I can see my watch in the gear manager and pair with it. But that does not solve my problem. After pairing the phone goes to connecting mode and conects with the gear s forever.
there is also solution for this on the post you have sent me and I have installed all that, but unfortunatelly nothing changeg. Still connecting forever.
I am starting to think: is that possible that HTC One X has Bluetooth that is not compatible with the gear s?
thanks for help. I am still trying.
