hey all,
looking at getting this phone this weekend, but curious about the LTE.. I live in a rural area that doesnt have LTE, we will be on HSPA+ for a while yet. Carrier is Telus in Nova Scotia.
I have read that LTE is a bit of a battery hog, if there is no LTE in my area will the phone keep hunting for LTE?
Can i "disable" LTE and have it default to HSPA+?(primarily for battery consumption)
Thanks
EDIT: sorry i just notice the post about questions going in the Q&A, sorry, if a mod could move it, that would be great
Yes you can disable it. which carrier are you with?
Hi, I have the AT&T S3 and I've used the code *#2263# and selected WCDMA and the frequency, and now it stays on HSPA
I hope it helps!
Thanks thats what I was getting at (wasn't sure if you guys had that option or not) OP there is your method.
You can also get the app Phone Info to change your settings
Excellent Info! Thanks
Do you think the battery life will be better ?

hrmm...when I do that on my ATT S3 it just takes me to a screen that says RAT selection option is restricted.
I don't see any other options.

There was a way to get out of this before, I think it involves you taking out your sim card.
Ah, here it is. Try this!

Does this mean that some ATT phones have a different modem than other supposedly identical ATT phones??
i found there is no need to use codes, etc
Settings > More Settings > Mobile Networks > Network mode
Gives you 4 options
GSM/HSPA/LTE (Auto Mode)
GSM/HSPA (Auto Mode)
GSM Only
HSPA Only

For ATT phones this option is locked out. FYI. Tmo, Sprint and Verizon it's prolly not. Only annoying thing about ATT's version so far. My HOX is the same way.
Root and you can access it I think.

Hi, I'm using the At&t version of the S3 on another network (Claro) and the code works. Maybe something is different because of that?
Are you guys using this like I said earlier?

I tried this one but it doesn't work for me. I see the information and can run ping test but if I try to make a band change the new selection is not applied.
I'm only able to change it using *#2263# :/
Ohhhhhhh....OK.
idk *#2263# isnt working at all on my att phone.

Hi,
Not sure if this has been posted, but I did a search and was not able to find any thread on this.
I have a Koodoo Samsung Galaxy S2 (SGH T989D) that I rooted and unlocked. When I put my Fido SIMin, I can only make voice calls and no data connection, none of my cellular data app./browser can connect to the internet, WIFI is working fine. I used both the APN drawn from the SIM card and manually set them according to the Fido forum, and both doesn't seem to work.
I've enable Data Roaming and still no luck, has anyone sucessfully unlock a Koodoo Samsung Galaxy S2 and got the data to work on the Fido network?
Any help would be much appreciated!!
Thanks in advance.
did you talk to your provider, they may have enable settings on their server.

Yes, I talked to Fido tech. support and everything is set propertly. I am still able to connect to the cellular data using my old iPhone 4 when I put my Fido SIM in.
Thanks
Like to add that this is a Samsung Galaxy SII x
Hello all,
I have been unable to find a clear answer to this question--I hope you will bear with me:
I have a Galaxy Note 2 from Verizon running Android 4.3. Before leaving for a trip to India this week I confirmed with Verizon customer service that the phone was unlocked. In Delhi I purchased a local sim card (from Airtel) and inserted it. Voice and text work perfectly but the data plan does not. The sim works when inserted into other phones but not in this one. The Airtel techs cannot figure it out. I have access to the APN settings under the Mobile Networks menu and have edited the Name, APN, Server, APN type etc. as indicated by Airtel but no dice. When I go to "Select" it finds Airtel after some spinning and when I select Airtel from "Network Operators" I get a "registered on network" message but still can't get data.
Is it the case that Verizon locks the data on this phone? Is there any way for me to unlock this from India? I don't really know anything about rooting phones.
Any help appreciated!
I also use the same handset in India and use other operator sim...no trouble so far in data

I have a T-mobile pre-payed SIM in my i545 Verizon. Phone works and data but only edge data. I am on a T-mobile partner network (I Wireless). If I install the same SIM in my Windows Phone I got with the SIM, I get 4G.
Any ideas?

Need to add the APN.
Straight from T-mobile:
T-Mobile APN
I did that. That's why I have edge data. Tried both epc.tmobile.com and fast.t-mobile.com. Both work with same results.
Have you been in the ServiceMode menu? Dial *#27663368378#
If not, dial it, choose 1 umts, then 1 debug screen, then 1 basic info. Does it say LTE RRC:CONN, Band 4?
If not, you might have to select the band preference.
If not ...
Can't do that I get "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".

How about *#0011# ?
Same results.

Hey Folks,
I have got an imported V10 from Korea and I am using it very happily on the the 3 network in the UK .
However I have just come to France and the option of switching on data roaming is switched off?
International Roaming is not blocked by my carrier in fact it is included in my tariff but the option to switch it on is grayed out and not available to switch on.
There is an option from the original Korean carrier Mobile T which says Mobile T roaming.
When selecting it it brings up a message that says
Mobile T roaming unavailable with data roaming off. Call customer center for roaming service (toll-free)

Sorry to Bump this but has anybody else had any luck getting phones from SK Telecom unlocked for roaming data?
If not is it possible to flash a new firmware on a phone that will make it think it is an English or European variant?
Thanks for the help
