Hi,
i think it is a hardware failure.
but is there a known way to rewrite file system without usb?
i just want to try because the sony support told me it may be caused by a broken file on sd/internal storage.
for all practical purposes: NO, please take it to support.
BTW - how do you charge this without USB?

thx for answer
i can charge by pc and wall charger.
but there is no option to choose usb connection mode in settings->xperia_connectivity->usb_connection (i can only turn on/off "install software") but in this case it makes no changes anyway.
even if i connect via usb to pc nothing happen on pc AND phone(only charge).
i am using original sony usb cable and i tryed 3 different windows pc's, 7 and 8
when i try to boot the phone while i hold sound-volume-key down (boot repair mode) green led blink (1x verylong, 1x shoort) then 2 red (2x short)
expected is a static green light

Hi,
i have a NT , when i plug in the cable to my pc it shows he usual USB mode.
is there anyway to have it in usb mode but be able to use the tablet at the same time ? in other words get rid of the damn pop up and let me use it while its in usb and charging mode ?
thanks
you could try disabling automount... maybe the USB window is triggered when the SD is mounted for computer use.
That is absolutely correct. If you don't know where to find automount, it is accessible through the nt hidden settings app.
ive also been seeing a weird issue , ive done that in the past , but when my tablet is connected to power / computer usb cable to any power source my touch screen is funky , when im on the lock screen i can do stuff , i can pull the bar over to almost get it to unlock but when and if it does its funky , i just kicked it out off of auto mount and i have what i want except touch screen is not actually working , if i unplug it from the cable the screen works ,
any ideas ?
You could also try "ejecting" the device. That might put it in charge state and allow you to continue using the device.

I haven't noticed the "funky" screen on my NT, but have experienced it on smartphones in the past and it was associated with a noisy charger. Try using different chargers and see if the problem gets better or worse.
ah yes you have a valid point i have two NT's one for me and one for my gf hers blew a charger and we had to have B&N replace the usb port receptacle already , had it less than three weeks. I will try it with her usb cable and see what i get as they changed the whole assembly and if it does not occur with her new cable i will get them to exchange it before the 1st ..
Hi!
So basically I can charge the tablet with no issue but when I connect it to my pc (or the one at work) it suddenly is no longer being detected (no USB plug in sound).
At home I was able to make it work but it would seem that moving the cable a bit will make it go off so somehow the cable must be bad I think even though physically outside it looks great.
Could that be it?

its very plausible that you could have a bad usb wire. if you wiggle it and get a connection very likely turns to 100% sure. There are different wires for charging and data within the cable. no connection when you plug it via dock either? (just want to rule out on board connector)
I will have to test on the dock but when it connected yesterday, I tried moving the plug around the table area to see if it was there and it never disconnected yet moving from the USB side connected to the PC made it disconnect so it makes it sound like a bad cable for sure...and hopefully
Hi all, my lumia 920, does not recharge any more when plugged in USB cable.
It isn’t even recognized by my PC. It seems the USB plug is dead, regardless wich cable I use.
Is there any possibility to get it working??
The problem is that I live in spain now, and bought the lumia in germany, so there’s no way to bring it to customer service. Anyways I don’t even like customer service, because they give you the phone back in bad conditions, with scratches and even bad mounted parts, like display etc..
Thanks everyone for the support!

Sounds like the USB port is damaged, why are you even using the USB when this phone has wireless charging? Just get a wireless charger and don't worry about it. You can share stuff between it and your PC by using the cloud.

The microusb port on this phone is soldered in a weird way from others. All it takes is a pull from the side on the cord while it is plugged in and the connections on the PCB can be broken. This phone is not Android and therefore the charging is not software controlled. it can be totally dead and will still charge through USB and wireless as the wireless base will supply power as it charges.
No this sounds like a hardware issue so you should try to get a warranty claim on it and hope you have the extended warranty as damage caused by use or handling is not covered by Nokia's warranty.
i have a semilar problem.
After a total discharge of my battery (I used it as navigation in the car but forgot to plug the power) my Lumia 920 wouldn't reboot (it gives a red battery). Nothing worked to bring i back alive (i did a soft reset and even hard reset!) but when i got home the wireless charger worked. (
But still nothing on the USB plug. My first conclusion: USB port dead. But when i plug in my powercable the Phone gets warm as it is charging. One more test i did is. When i place i on the wireless charger (charging starts) and then connect the USB to (for example my Laptop) charging stops. Next simple conclusion "USB port is okay", but maybe it's because of som battery security feature (bug)?
Anyone??
I have a problem with my LeMax 2. I was using google camera for some picture taking, and all of a sudden phone shuts down. I connected it to the charger, thinking that the battery is dead, but all I can see is backlight, without anything on the screen.
then I connected it to a computer, and there was a popup that said: "the last device you connected to this computer malfunctioned". it seems that USB cable is burnt out. I changed the USB cable, but the same error occurs.
The strange part is that i get notifications, I can locate the phone via Find my device, but i can't see anything on the screen, only i can see a backlight. PC does not recognize it, i tried Linux, win10, win7, USB OTG. i ordered a new Dock Connector Charging Port Flex Cable https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Original-New-Dock-Connector-Charging-Port-Flex-Cable-For-Letv-leEco-Le-Max2-Max-2-X820/32828762033.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.116b4c4ds9GGuN, and changed it, but the problem persists.
i can only see backlight, the phone can be located, the notifications can be heard, but USB is only good for charging, even after replacing it.
Does anybody have some idea how to revive it?
Heyyo, hmm does tapping the power button allow the backlight to at least work? Please rest that in a dark room to see if you can notice the backlight.
If not? It could be a hardware issue... You could try heating the device with a heat gun and then using a suction cup or screen seperation tool and then check the connection of the screen to the device and ensure it is properly connected.
There could be other recommendations if someone else also has an idea
Yes, the backlight works. I opened phone, changed USB port and checked the screen connection. Firstly I thought that USB is fried due to some weird power surge when connecting the charger, but after changing the USB, it is the same.
The next thing that came to my mind is that USB connection on motherboard is fried. As I said, the phone charges up, but when connected to pc, it shows that device has malfunctioned. The screen has backlight, as far I can say it registers a touch, device finder can locate it, sound works...

hello,
my screen is broken (half lower part of screen is no sensitive responding)
I have tried a full restore but this don't work,
so now I have a full clean phone with the first install screen and no usb debug. (and screen don't want to rotate at this time)
I have acces to adb only under TWRP.
I would like to use this phone as 4G router.
I have done this https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2786395
but still not managed adb working on booted phone.
any idea ?
If it's only the touchscreen which is no longer functioning on the lower half of your screen (and the full display is still functioning) then the easy solution is to connect a mouse or a USB touchpad to your phone. I have done this several times when I have dropped phones and damaged the touch screen. If you are going to use a regular mouse, then you will only need an adaptor to allow your mouse's USB socket to plug into a 'micro USB to USB' cable. I didn't need this, as I already had a USB touchpad which uses a micro-USB socket.

I have just tried to connect my USB keyboard and touchpad for the first time with my Z5 compact. Unlike with my Z3 compact, they didn't work straight away. However, you can get them working like this: (1) Settings>Device connection>USB Connectivity (2) plug in your device (3) Click on 'detect USB device.' This will take up to a minute. You will get a message saying 'USB Connected.' Then you can use your mouse/keyboard/whatever. Hopefully, your broken touchscreen will not prevent you from doing the above!

I can't because I'm on the first install screen and don't even have the rolling menu.
I put a old usb connect and boot with usb bluetooth mouth plug in (so plug in it before boot)
and I get a cursor !
so I had put usb debug, instal some air droid apk, and a tethering apk on the upper on my screen !
thanks all
