What are the advantages and disadvantages of each rom?
I see that a lot of people install the xiaomi.eu ROM cause they want to use their own language option, but if I want to use it in English, am I better off with the en.miui.com ROM?
Also, (this is implicit on the first question, but still) does the en.miui.com Chinese ROM come with GAPPS, no bloatware and with chinese apps translated? I've seen people telling me yes and others telling me now, I am quite confused.
Thanks

en.miui provide the same rom as they provide to china. so it didn't have gapps , it has some miui software and "recommended" ware.
so basically, eu is better.
you can also try polska.miui, it is almost the same as eu.miui. but with fewer language pack(chinese, english, polish).

Hi,
sorry i post here but this is as close as it gets to my phone.
i just got my Xiaomi Red Note 1W, Miui-jhdcnba17.0, 4.2.2 jdq39.
It came preflashed with multi language support and play store app.
Now I want to install something different, preferable clean android.
How do I do that?
If that is not possible, how to I install a Miui Version with German language?
thanks

no "clean" Android (i suppose you mean AOSP) available, since Mediatek device with no open kernel...
wont happen unless someone does an unofficial port with original MIUI kernel (read Patchrom)
for german language support check miui.de and their forum -> they offer modded ROMs with german language support (but i don't know if they have for Redmi Note)
another solution would be to root and install morelocale, that is not 100% but better than nothing if you need German and can't live with English.
there are plenty roms available even aosp on miui forum, just hoping someone here on xda do porting CM for this device

I was going to buy a Redmi Note 2, but I noticed some of the reviews on Aliexpress say the phone comes with malware and that Chinese advertisements pop up regularly. The reviews say you have to flash a clean Miui ROM to resolve the problem, but I had a few questions about doing this:
Where do you get a clean Miui7 ROM for the Redmi Note 2 from?
Do you need to root the phone in order to flash the ROM?
Are there any step by step instructions anywhere for flashing the ROM?
I'm not really up to date with this sort of thing so I'm grateful for any advice you can offer.
Official ROMs are available from en.miui.com. Please read their forums for info on the different types that are available for the RN2. At the moment there are stable and developer Chinese ROMs available (these contain only U.S English and Chinese), the latter being rooted.
Unofficial multilanguage ROMs are available from xiaomi.eu, in two flavours, stable and developer, the latter having built in root via the security app.
My phone was delivered with a full multi language ROM including UK English language and region available, but it was buggy and had malware, or at least adware that is not present in the official ROMs. I installed an official ROM before entering ANY personal information or accounts.
Go to the download page for the RN2 on en.miui.com, there are full instructions for the various ways to flash a ROM. You do not need a custom recovery, you do not need to be rooted, you can even do it from the built in updater app, even if it's the unofficial multi language ROM that you're flashing.
Thanks a lot for the detailed advice. It looks easy enough, so I'll go ahead and order the phone.
I notice the stable ROM is MIUI6 and the developer ROM is MIUI7. Do you know if they'll be releasing a stable MIUI7 ROM any time soon?
I'm trying to download a clean ROM, but the downloads seem to stop at 3MB or 16MB when it should be 700+MB. Any tips? (This is from the official site... as far as I can see)
Try using a download manager like jdownloader or download from xiaomi.eu
I made a video guide -
I've managed to download the weekly from xiaomi.eu was nice and quick this morning using a French mirror from Androidfilehost.com
All I need now is the damn phone. Lol

Do you have mi remote app with it and if so, is it translated in English?
Is it true that leeco phones will not receive android 7 ?

Why?
Do you have any source for this? How do you know?
NOT TRUE - http://www.droid-life.com/2017/01/06/leeco-expect-software-updates-soon-address-user-pain-points/
yes, but he does not speak of nougat
I was just reading that you won't be able to receive any updates with international stock rom installed.
Is that really true? I can't find any option in settings to search or install any updates.
I am kind of happy with the international stock rom. No Chinese apps installed, no bloatware (so far found) and google play store is working.
Thanks!

What do you mean under international stock rom? Could you be more specific?
There are so called "webshop" roms, which are - as you can see in the name - modified by the online stores. Those roms are based on Indian version of eui , installed lots of bloatwares, multilanguages are contained. These are not official roms, not gonna be updated.
You should consider installing offical chinese/indian rom, which is gonna be updated for sure.

A user can always update the shop rom with the latest official rom via recovery. The easiest way to do it.

I am not really sure if I am running a Shop ROM. Just bought the phone from Gearbest.
I just thought that the Indian Version is the international version with multilanguage. I have LeEco Store installed and 3-4 other apps. But it really seams to be a Shop ROM because of the missing update option.

Can you explain what to do?
Just download the latest Indian version than rename it to update.zip and put it in the root folder and after that Power + Vol + and thats it?
I just dont want to lose German language on the phone. It is for my mother so usability is the most important, you know.
Thank you guys in advance!

Guess you are right. But you won't get OTA updates, if you use webshop rom. I didn't get neither.

Very simple. Yes.
I have Deutsch in my latest official Chinese 20s.
So does it mean that I can flash/update eather Indian or Chinese ROM just over the shop ROM without losing any data and language?
Sounds too easy for me
Yes, its easy like that i upgraded from shop rom to 21S Chinese - and I was wondering that german is better supported in 21S Chinese then in the germanized shoprom version ... only bad thing was - i lost the google play store.

And to get back Google Play Store you have to download it in LeEco store or just install the Indian version instead of the Chinese, right?
... or use this one -> https://xiaomininja.com/2016/07/15/...l-google-play-services-on-miui-8-video-guide/
I installed the cookie version 92 2 works fine. After wipe wipe data, flash with twrp and is done. Try. The zip file is called
X820_TWRP_ADVANCED_V3.1.1_CUOCO92. ZIP
yes but i heard leeco engineering work on android 7
Heyyo, yeah that international EUI ROM is modified and won't get OTA hence the check for updates is missing.
For my x829 I couldn't upgrade to Indian or Chinese EUI directly via the recovery and update.zip. It would give an error message about file errors. Only way for me to flash other ROMs was to use TWRP via temp boot via fastboot and then flash other ROMs.
I ended up not liking even newer EUI versions so now I use custom ROMs as they have a better setup with the more like Stock Android experience with the quick settings in the notification drawer.
It's still hard to tell if LeEco will be able to follow through with Nougat for their phones due to all the financial issues they have... But meh, tbh I'm not worried given how darn good community ROMs are and how they don't have the odd quirks that EUI have.
Albeit, it would be nice if they at least put out kernel sources for Nougat (or I guess Android O which will be out sooner than later) which could improve community ROMs a bit

It was said by January. Still they didn't released an update :crying:
Last update i got was on 14th October 2016. When ever i send a mail asking about the next update they respond like we will inform in a week or two. But they never did. By the end of march they said that they are working on android 7 but it will take more time. They said expected release will be july last week. I mailed again now. No responses from them.
I like the EUI very much. I don't want to install some custom rom. But same time, this thing have lot of bugs and many futures need modification.

A moderator on the Xiaomi Forum just confirmed that you have a fake ROM. It seems that some resellers are flashing these fake global ROMs in order to sell them as Global.
Well, AFAIC i definitely would like to try this 'fake' ROM. Mine may be very real but also very much in chinese/english only. I wouldnt mind for myself, but my mother not so much. I'm pretty sure this is basically a reseller's modified CN ROM in order to sell as global with added languages.

can you have unlock bootloader and installer twrp and backups for me this rom
please
I received my mi pad 4 with this 'fake' global rom.
I've been using it all day and it's pretty good. It's miui but with integrated Google play out of the box.
If it is just the CN version with Google play services pre-installed then I'll stick with it for now. I don't have the ability to check if there are nefarious modifications made to this rom, but I know I'm taking a risk on it. Also I'm pretty sure there will be no over the air updates for it which is a bummer.
If there was a xiaomi.eu rom available I would flash that straight away.
The official CN image: does this include English at least?
In my opinion, I don't use this unknow chinese mod rom because she maybe contain malware.
Just use official MIUI rom or custom rom made by a good dev like in XDA.

Well, first be sure which device you have (curtana or joyeuse), many users are not sure about that cause of the different names for Indian and global versions.
Secondly, it's hard/impossible to say "This is the best ROM out there", cause all have their pros and cons ?
And it also depends what you want...a firmware with MIUI, or without MIUI...with Google apps or without...
And it's good to have also a look on telegram groups, cause there are some devs that don't post their new ROMs here any more.

Joyeuse (I was not aware of the difference hence did not mention it on my post) now that I did some digging I know I have that one.
Without MIUI, the phone I have been using so far is Mi Mix 2S and I really can't see anything on MIUI to recommend it (or like it) and with Google apps. (If I did not want Google apps I would have gone the Huawei route )
Thank you and thanks for the telegram tip!
