While i was trying to change mac address with apps and terminal on my samsung it didnt work.i have the new samsung A5. i have found a method to change the mac address manually on samsung but needs the following:root and a root browser(can be found in playstore. first root your phone, there are alot of methods online to do that, and download esfile explorer(the root browser).when you open esfile explorer swipe from left to the right or press something on top left to open a black window called on top fast access, on this window there is a category called tools press it and now enable "root explorer" and "show hidden files", now change the category to local and press device, now go to efs-->wifi and now youll se 2 files, .mac.cob and .mac.info , in both of these files there should be only you original mac address, open each of these files if necessary,as text then with es note editor and now press on top right and press edit, now just change the mac address of yours to your victims and save these files(but dont forget the original mac address)and get out of esfile explorer and restart the phone to take changes, then go to setting--> about device-->status and youll see that your wifi mac address have changed. this operation can be
reverted by doing the same method.

just bought a G Tablet and it only has Google Market which is some Hadongo bs or something.. It's brand new out the box.
anyways, can someone please help me get android market on it.
so here is the steps I saw on XDA(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861044) to get android market:
0) Backup in Clockwork Mod. Please. I don't want you mad at me if this messes up your ROM.
1) Get the paid version of Root Explorer installed on your G Tablet. Apparently the free version lacks a text editor. If you only have the free version, the text editing step will need to be done in a separate program, or you will need to copy build.prop to your desktop, edit it there, and copy it back. Or use adb to push an edited build.prop to your tablet. Just buy Root Explorer though, it makes this very easy.
2) Browse in Root Explorer to /system. Then click on Mount R/W.
3) Long click on build.prop and click on Open In Text Editor.
4) Scroll down to the line ro.build.fingerprint=....
You are going to replace that with the following text:
ro.build.fingerprint=google/passion/passion/mahimahi:2.2/FRF91/43546:user/release-keys
5) Now you are going to click on Save and Exit. And then remount the /system directory as R/O.
6) Now you are going to re-do the original Market Fix. I used the simple version illustrated here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l-ny...eature=related First, make sure Market is running, and browse around in it for a few seconds. If you don't do this, there may be no cache to clear and for some reason the market fix may not work. Then, go to Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->Running and scroll down to Market. Then hit Clear Cache, followed by Force Stop **DO NOT CLEAR DATA FOR MARKET, JUST CACHE**. Then go back, scroll down to Google Services Framework, hit Clear Data, then Force Stop.
7) Now try starting Market again and you get the famous Market Error. Now shut down the G Tablet, then turned it back on. Wait for Wifi to connect to your network before doing anything! I forgot to do that on the first try, so I rebooted again, waited for wifi to connect this time.
8) Now restart Market again. It seems to have sourced the fingerprint from build.prop somewhere in steps 6-7. Searches for previously missing apps now show up. Voila! A truly full market!
the first thing I don't understand is Long click on build.prop and click on Open In Text Editor.
When I try to edit build.prop it says "YOUR DEVICE MUST BE ROOTED"
the second thing: Now you are going to re-do the original Market Fix. I used the simple version illustrated here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l-nySibzeA&feature=related
The youtube video was removed....
if someone can please fix the steps for dummies i would really appreciate it!
thank you guys so much!
Hey guy/gals, I've got a nifty little trick here for you. Now, the trick I'm about to explain is a rather low-level trick that most of you may know, but its for those who don't or are new. So, at the school i attend, they have wifi throughout the school. They make the password something simple like "internet", and then wait for someone to figure it out and tell everyone. Once everyone start joining the network and using it, they just go through and blacklist (ban) the MAC addresses that aren't pre-approved. This was a huge mistake on their part. So here is a method that allows you to spoof your MAC (ghosting) address and regain access to the network.
Method 1: Go to the market and download 2 apps, "BusyBox" and "MAC Spoofer (changer)". Install BusyBox and run it to give it SU permissions. Then run MAC Spoofer and give it permissions. Turn on your wifi and try to connect to the desired network. If you are blacklisted, it will just loop over and over trying to connect. Don't stop it from looping. Press the home button and then open MAC Spoofer. Now, when you run MAC Spoofer there will be a black box in the center of the screen and it should say ">CHECKING FOR ROOT PERMISSION AND WIFI FILE: OK!" then on the next line it will show your original MAC address and your current one. In the entry box between the black box and the spoof button, you can enter your desired address and press "Spoof my MAC". It will then say ">ATTEMPTING TO MODIFY MAC ADDRESS:" and on the next 2 lines it will show your original and current MAC. On the last line it should say "**SUCCESS** MAC OF INTERFACE wlan0 CHANGED TO: (Whatever you chose)". Now you can exit the app and go back to your wifi network selection. Select the network you were trying to join and it should connect.
I hope this works for you all. If you have any questions or issues, just reply to this thread. Don't forget to give me a thanks!
Note: Your MAC will reset to the original MAC when you turn off your wifi or if your reboot your phone.
Note: I am running ME7 with 4.2.2 JellyBean and stock rom.

I have several apps that can open Sony ARW files, but it seems that Android only assigns those apps to open type "image" files. I can't however get Android to work out they are images files. eg. if I try to open one in ES Explorer or HD Explorer it will ask 'open as what kind of file', I tell it 'image' and then select Rawdroid to 'open always' - the trouble with that is Rawdroid becomes the default image handler but Android still doesn't know that ARW is type image and the 'open as type' always pops up.
Is there somewhere you can flag a file type?
The main reason it's a problem is I'm trying to use an IOgear Mediashair and it's poor app doesn't have an 'open as type' so it simply says 'no app installed that can handle', making the device useless for viewing raw camera files.
Hi!
I tried several guides on the internet to change my MAC address, at first, using one of the "MAC spoofer" Apps, but they all just change it "softly" so you can't connect to Password protected Routers (same happens if you use the busybox/terminal method), but my router is password protected and i need that protection. Next i've tried this guide:
"After your rooted head into terminal emulation type su and go into /data/misc/wifi
Look for a file called nvram.txt
Copy it to your sdcard and then to your cpu desktop open it with notepad and at the bottom of nvram.txt is the mac address
This i was able to verify and test on android Citrus Ciena
Edit that mac address and save it as nvram1.txt onto sdcard
Now go back to data wifi misc and copy nvram.txt to nvram.bak
Head into gui and then settings then wifi then turn on the wifi but don't connect to any wifi
turn off the wifi, switch back to terminal
Copy the nvram1.txt to data misc wifi
remove the original (make sure you got it backed up)
Rename nvram1.txt to nvram.txt
head back into gui and then settings then wifi
Now for me it immediately stated unable to turn on wifi
Ignore it and try to turn it on anyways
When it turns on your newly edited mac address will take effect
Connect to your AP
NOW B4 REBOOTING YOU MUST CHANGE NVRAM BACK TO THE ORIGINAL!"
but I haven't found the nvram.txt, so i searched and searched and found out the "s3 version" of it, is "/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt" but in this file, my s3 shows me a completely different MAC, as my handy actually has. I tried the method with this file anyway, but it didn't work, i still had my old mac, but the MAC written in the file was not reset, so it seems like the system doesn't even care about the MAC-line in that file. So next I found the ".mac.info" file in "/efc/wifi/" and in this file, there is just my MAC written, which really is my actual MAC. So i tried the Method i've pasted above with that file, and it didn't work, the system did just overwrite that file and as i checked after turning my WLAN back on, there was again my old MAC in the file. Then i tried changing it and making it read-only through Root Explorer, but it didn't work either. This time the system afterwards still had the old MAC, but the file didn't change, so in .mac.info there was still my new MAC written, but the system still had the old one. After some time i checken the file once again, and then suddenly the old MAC was written in the file, and the system did automaticly gave writing-permission back. Now i'm just desperate, so if anyone can tell my any method to change the MAC, which works on galaxy s3, please tell me.

how to change ONE E1001 appearing when u attach device to pc to OnePlus X? -.- Ok it's useless thing, but is it possible?
Not sure if you just don't like to see the name ONE E1001 or if you do not like the pop-up in windows when you connect.
To remove the pop-up, select "Take No Action" in the menu after clicking on the pop-up.
To change the name of the device itself I think can be done, but you need to be rooted.
sorry for inconvenience, i solved every problem with this "thing"
to change name in about settings menu = u have to modify build prop (root your phone, install supersu launch build prop and add ro.product.model=OnePlus X)
to change name appearing inside your pc when you connect your phone is pretty simple, no need to root or anything. just connect your phone go My PC right click ONE E1001(or whatever it writes) and rename it to anything you want
p.s. thread can be closed.
