Ok all I have read a lot of different post and I am pretty confused. I have a rooted US Xperia tablet Z SGP312 with build 10.6.a.0.454. Its been asking me to update for awhile now and I have been putting it off. If I update it, can I get root back? if so is there a thread that I missed with simple instructions. I am not a hard core developer, so the simpler the better.
Thanks in advance.

Hi guys.
So recently i got my very first touch phone.
I've had a sony ericsson w800i for like 6-7 years now.
So i'm really all new to the entire touchmobile scene and stuff.
Rooting sounds interesting, but i have no idea if i can even do it on my mobile, let alone do it without bricking the phone.
Now i got a lot of questions and rooting does sound interesting.
But i was still hoping people here could maybe guide a new guy in the right direction?
I've read this article : Erhm, can't post links yet it seems. But it was the link to a wiki article about why one should root his phone.
and it sounds very good.
My phone model is: HTC Hero
Firmware: 1.50
Basebandversion: 63.18.55.06EU:6.35.06.18
Kernal system: 2.6.27-8dd6deee
Version: 2.73.405.6 CL#61267 release-keys
softwareversion: 1.0.0.A6288
Can i root my phone?
I'm not bound to any telemarketing company or anything. The phone itself is not from vodafone or anything of likes.
And also, if i do decide to root my phone, would i be able to install the 2.1 sense update thats scheduled for the htc hero something in april(hopefully)?
Best regards
Kuresu
Im also new here, been reading up on Android for a while though.
What i can say for sure is, YES, you can definately root your Hero. There are are number of different guides on here.
And secondly, rooting shouldn't affect you being able to get the 2.1 update once it is available, infact, if you root, youe can try 2.1 roms NOW.
A good place to start is the "XDA-Wiki", there is a link on the brown bar near the top of the page. Once you have clicked that link, on the new page it brings up, go about half way down the page to the HTC section, click "HERO". On that page, under "rooting" there is a link called "Method 1 - Dayzee's NEWBIE Walkthrough guide". That should be all the info you need. I have not done it myself yet, my new Hero should be delivered tomorrow.
Good luck!
Thanks a bunch Ddot.
Have you gotten your phone yet?
Did you root yours?
Theunlockr.com is a great source for rooting etc (newbies are often pointed to that site)

Yep yep yep,... It was delivered last Friday,... I haven't put it down since!!!
Yeah I rooted mine,... Followed this guide,... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253 ...Then installed the latest Modaco Custom ROM.
I decided not to play with the 2.1 ROMs as there were a few bugs reported.
The Modaco ROM is excellent, no complaints about the phone whatsoever. Now patiently waiting for an official 2.1 ROM.
If there's anything else you need to know, ask away, I've learnt a lot this past week, and if I cant help, there are plenty of others ready , willing and able.
P.S,... Apologies for the late reply, I didn't subscribe to the thread so wasn't notified of replies. I'll do it now though.
Peace

Welcome to the community! It seems like you have a grasp on what you want to, which is awesome.
I won't give you all the background info on rooting as it seems you just want to know how exactly to do it.
I believe this thread will give you all the info to get you rooted:
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-razr-hacks/216562-droid-razr-utility-1-8-a.html
Matt's utilities are pretty much the standard right now. Easy to use and effective.
Now, once you're rooted the sky is the limit. I haven't personally run JellyBean but as I understand it, it's not fully functional. I could be wrong but JB isnt that much of an upgrade, just a few new tweaks.
Please feel free to ask any additional questions!
Hi everyone,
I'm a complete noob when it comes to this stuff. Recently, my phone has been running really slow, and I remembered people saying that rooting and flashing custom roms will help increase the efficiency of the phone. I've been looking through tons of threads and countless google searches trying to find a tested and working method for BL unlock and root for a stock MB860 on Android 2.3.6 -- 4.5.145. Yet I haven't found anything. Can I get some suggestions/help? Thanks.
PS - I plan on getting the SGS4, but till I see some actual benchmarks/comparisons between the two chipsets that they phone is shipping with, I'll have to rely on my Atrix 4G. And right now, as I said earlier in the post, it's acting extremely sluggish in every sense of the word.

Wow thanks. Everyone posting on there says it's real easy to use. Unfortunately no one has system version 4.5.145 like I do. I'm not sure how important that actually is but I have read that version does matter. But it is nice to see people have used it successfully used it with 2.3.6. I posted on that thread and am waiting for a response. Thanks again.
Hello everyone.
I have a problems with my htc desire x since i've updated the system from 4.0.4 to 4.1.1
Is there any way to downgrade this device to base version?
After searching i wasn't able to detect the right guide how to do that.
May be any of you know the direction?
Thank you.

Thank you for you answer, it looks useful, but...
Can you, please, provide more detailed guide, since i have no such experience.
What is "boot bootloader" and how to unlock it?

I am sure you will get your basics clear by reading this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076675
Dude, i had the same problems and questions. Now, a week later, i got my X succsessfully flashed to AOKP 4.1. A great software, really. It takes out the google off android and leaves pure satisfaction.
Take a look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-desire-x
Everything You need to know is there. Learning isn`t illegal... yet. And the joy having the phone fixed by yourself... get the picture?
Hello everyone,
I just received the z2 that I purchased a few weeks ago. It is the D6503 and it should be running 4.2.2. I am coming from the Galaxy line, so I am a little unfamiliar with the nuances of the Sony software. While I do not need to install a custom rom just yet, I am looking at rooting it and running lollipop on it. However, I do not want to lose the stability and ability that comes with having my DRM intact. Can someone provide me with a little guidance on the direction to go with getting rooted and on lollipop?
Thanks everybody for your help.

I am sorry for posting this here. I see now that this was the wrong place. I have reposted this in Q&A, but I am not sure how to delete the one here in general. Would a mod please delete this for me? Thank you.
