I believe you are referring to this thread (porting full Android and/or Android Wear - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/development/dev-gear-s-android-port-t3177740) or this thread (making it work with non-Samsung devices - http://forum.xda-developers.com/gear-s/general/tutorial-install-gear-manager-connect-t2934307). When it comes to porting a product to a system that wasn't readily designed for it (especially most Samsung devices) - there isn't anything simple about it.

Like it says in the first thread I pointed to, users do not need to edit their build.prop to install Gear Manager from the Play Store.

I do not speak English well so I try to explain better ... if I buy the gear s2 I can install the gearmanager and all software from playstore and everything works !!! so if I modify the gear s to look like the gear s2 (with a method similar to that of build.prop on the phone) I can follow the normal procedure and install gearmanager and all the software and everything works.
Now, as gear s is very similar to the gear s2, is possible to change gear s to look like to gear s2?

Check out "Notifications for Gear S". You can download it from the regular Google Playstore, and it allows you to answer texts/whatsap/viber, etc. I don't know if it will work with your specific phone, but it's only $1.25 I think, and does more than the native notifications do.
ETA: Sammy also offer it in their app store, but the dev says update cycles take much longer there.
Thanks for your fast reply xendula & _Dejan_ ,
I think that on android 5.0 don't work the "Gear Manager" because I follow step by step the instructions and don't work for me. When I open the app Gear Manager, this stopped with an error. I think that this error is produced by Android Lolipoop.
Tomorrow, I try with motorola moto g to view if it is posible work with this smartphone.
Thanks for all !

Application/Widget .wgt files for non samsung users

Hi,
Can someone upload .wgt files for most usefull applications or widgets for gear s that users which have non samsung phones can use some applications/widgets on their watch?
I like design of Samsung gear S watch more than LG or Motorola smartwatch but I don't wan't change current Sony z1 phone only for reason that I can install additional widgets/apps on watch... Notifications already work as must but for example I would like setup:
Endomondo
Evernote
Alarm
Calculator

THIS is true you can blame that on the DEVs most of the Gear S apps are just re branded Gear 2 apps it seems as if these app developers don't even own a Gear S they just make an app and assume Tizen is universal well it is not and they need to actually make apps to fit and work properly with our Gear S

[Q] Unable to pair Gear S with S3 neo

On November 2014 I bought Gear S which i paired with my samsung galaxy s3 neo. Sometimes the smart watch stopped to work and I was able to reactivate the Gear S only after resetting it.
On 23 February after experiencing another arrest of the Gear s I downloaded from Galaxy apps the latest version of gear manager (2.2.14110499). After I have installed the gear manager I wasn’t able to reactivate my gear s although it paired with my galaxy S3 neo. In particular the gear manager is not able to download the additional software and I receive the following message: “Unable to connect to the gear. Connection to the gear is not supported by your mobile device…” Moreover just beneath the above message appear a writing during just some seconds stating: “Download url not available, can’t launchPlugin!”
What is not working? My gear s or the new gear manager?
Can someone help me? Thanks

I'm using Android 4.4.2
Hmmm. Well, in order for the S to be compatible with your Samsung phone, you have to have 4.4+, non-mod touchwiz, and the gear manager (and the supporting apps... Sam Store, IAP, etc).
Is it a custom ROM or stock? If stock, when was your last OTA update?

I think I found fraud. For some days now in the official Samsung website (at least in the Italian site) neo s3 is no longer listed among the smart phones compatible with Gear S. Is this behavior legal? I hope Samsung solves this mess as soon as possible.

SHealth available for all Android devices

Yesterday SHealth app became available for all android devices to prepare for Gear S2 to work on non-Samsung devices.
It works also with Gear Fit. If you have a non-Samsung device, you need to change a ro.product.brand line in build.prop to:
Code:
ro.product.brand=samsung
Now after reboot you should see all compatible devices in Accesories tab in SHealth. You need to have Gear Fit Manager installed and connected with your Gear Fit.
I have 5.1.1 stock Sony Xperia Z ROM with Gear Fit Manager from here and SHealth app always shows 0 steps in pedometer tab and doesn't get Sleep/Heart Rate data, but received weight info from Gear Fit. Maybe it will work on non-Samsung devices with another version of Gear Fit Manager or another ROM, you can try and write here.
Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.android.app.shealth
Nope. Your solution doesn't works for me.
OnePlus One 5.1.1
What do you mean? If you don't see Gear Fit on Accesories list, try to change ro.product.manufacturer to samsung, ro.product.name and ro.product.device to zeroltetmo.
I have this configuration and Gear Fit is on the list:
Code:
ro.product.brand=samsungs
ro.product.manufacturer=samsungs
ro.product.name=zeroltetmo
ro.product.device=zeroltetmo
ro.build.product=zeroltetmo
zeroltetmo is the code name of Galaxy S6 Edge.

Ok, I saw all accessories but the fit manager doesn't pair with FIT now.
I get back to my original build.prop.
Hope Samsung will release an update soon for Shealth that allow us to fully sync with FIT.

Maybe this happens because you do have a Samsung phone.
Do you still have TouchWiz ROM?
I tried but it fails on my OnePlus.
Can someone else try with a not-samsung device?

yea i using stock touchwiz rom , but a3 does not support gear fit
so i use the patch version on xda , modify build.prob samsung to blablabla
TouchWiz is the secret.
I think this sync will never work on any other ROM unless samsung release a fix.

is it possible to install touchwiz on htc one mini 2 ?

Steps Challenges and the new Together feature

I have a non-Samsung phone with the latest version of S Health (4.8).
Can anyone tell me where to find the new Steps Challenges and Together feature where I can compete against friends? I cannot see any such features in S-Health.
Thanks.

It is one of the apps. I think you need to add it to the phone with the gear manager. It is possible that this doesn't work with non-Samsung phones - I can't check this as I have a Samsung phone.
