Its different
The dimensions may be the same
But NFC location for both the phones are different.
As for Z2 and Z5 NFC location is same.
I am thinking about replacing my Z2 back cover with Z5

the z2 and z5 has completely different dimensions... and also the nfc location seems to be the same on the z3 and z5.
As you can see, the connectors doesn't match, so, as long as you don't care about NFC, like me, you should be ok. But still, it would be nice for you to try so you can show us how it looks

i also heard some people say that the speaker is terrible. can anyone confirm this? as a HTC one owner if the audio quality isn't near as good or as good as the HTC one it will feel like a downgrade for me

It isn't near as good as the HTC One's audio quality I'd say. The sound is okay for my needs but it hasn't exactly been celebreated in various reviews.

i try to buy i defect Xperia Z1 because i think it is very similar to the Z Ultra.
The Z1 has a LED flash. The Z Ultra is the most perfect phone, but Sony screwed it with the camera!
I will try to took the LED flash from the Z1 in the Z Ultra - for that i will try to discover the electrical circuit of it.
The second step would be to transfer the 20,7MP Camera from the Z1 in the Z Ultra.
Unfortunately there is no specs or pinout from the Snapdragon 8274 aviable.
I try the hardware, i hope some of you could help or have ideas. And i need one for the software - i have no idea of android software development.
First we need the software side control of the flash LED - i think it is an android system function?
Second we could try to get the camera driver for the 20,7MP Z1 in the Z Ultra ROM.
Who will follow me at this project?
I think 20mp camera won't fit in z ultra body, it's simply too big. LED sounds more interesting and doable.

You don't have the tools to carve out the hole for the flash in the back panel. And the motherboard won't give you place to fit in anything non-original either.

Yes. There are lots of ways to do it. I've done it in a Samsung.
I'm sure that flashing a new rom via Flashtool will resolve this issue. But ofc these devices are stolen (or eligible for refund/return), so no warranty and/or possible law-related consequeces. Just buy the phone at full price
Personaly, I can't imagine buying a used phone. All I need to think of is the things I do with my own devices >_>
