Hey guys I recently installed cm12 on my galaxy s2 i9100 to test it out and didnt like it because its overheating my phone, and I want to change back to cm10 or something similar. When I booted up into recovery mode I get this "CyanogenMod Recovery" and Im like wtf? . I copied my cm10 to the sd card to install it but it just wont work it gives me errors. I want to get rid of cm12 but nothing I try seems to be working.
I either want to remove this cm12 and install that NeatRom for galaxy s2 or downgrade to cm10 or something like that. But with this new cm12 nothing I try seems to be working.
I read somewhere that I just need to flash another custom recovery into the CyanogenMod Recovery but Im just not sure and I want expert advice because I dont want to brick my phone.

CM recovery needs a "signed" .zip to work. Use a newer build of dorimanx kernel from gsstudios or philz kernel, reboot to recovery then flash the rom you want etc. :good:
You can try TWRP+stock kernel by Lysergic Acid. It's signed so it will work on CM Recovery.

I've tried multiple tutorials to root my phone but whenever I flash the CWM and restart my phone in recovery mode I still get the default Android recovery screen... What should I do?
CWM flashed on its own (I.E not 'baked' into a kernel) always only persists until the next reboot.
It's designed to allow you to flash whatever rom/kernel you want which will overwrite the temporary CWM version you flashed with the one baked into the kernel of the rom you flash/kernel you flash on its own.
If you want permanent CWM from the getgo, flash a kernel with CWM baked into it. Or use another root method. I'm not sure about either of those things (nor will most people on here be), because very few people here have this model.
I found this thread by searching; if you're having problems with a specific root method, I suggest you ask in those threads so you get 'accurate' help from people who actually have the same phone as you.

Hello all,
First of all I want to say I'm pretty new to flashing ROMs etc.
Currently I'm at stock 4.3 Jellybean and I want to flash my SGS3 to the new CM 11 ROM.
I rooted my phone following this tutorial: vvvvvv.telefoonrooten.nl/samsung/samsung-galaxy-s3-root/ (sorry if its in Dutch, but it uses the CF-Root-SGS3-v6.3 and Odin).
After I rooted I copied both the CM11 ROM and GAPPS to my external SD, I went to recovery and tried to install the new custom ROM but I got an error (status 7) and it was aborted.
Also if I try to reboot it won't boot normally as it should be but it goes back to recovery mode automatically...
I fixed to get back to Jellybean by flashing the stock rom (unrooting?) it via Odin.
Anyone else got the exact same problem as I do and knows a solution to be able to flash CM 11?
Thanks in advance,
Steelbear

please read the thirst post in a rom/kernel/whatever thread. and maybe if you havent done it already you should also read the stickies in general section.
FAQ (Read before post !!)
- If you obtain Error 7 when you tried to install ROM in CWM or TWRP
Install the latest version of CMW or TWRP

BTW latest philz touch recovery works too
Since you went back to stock and you already know how to root, I suggest you go to Play Store and download ROM Manager to help you install latest CWM recovery on your device.
Or you can simply go to CWM website, pick the version of the recovery for your phone and flash it via Odin.
Hope it helps.

Indeed it worked! I found it out myself yesterday. Went to the CWM site and downloaded the latest version (6.0.4.4.) and flashed it through Odin. But thanks for your input anyways (to all who replied) !
An alternative solution that I often use is to open the Updater Script in META-INF folder in the ROM's zip and delete first lines, where it gets device model as property.
Obviously it's an UNSAFE operation (because that lines avoid to install ROMs of other phone on mine) but when I'm sure that ROM I've downloaded is for my phone I do it and it works
Hey folks,
I'm desperately trying to get a CustomRom working on my GP4.
I'm relatively new to the device, but not to CustomRom's, since I was using a Motorola Defy untill last summer, running CM7.2 and CM9, MIUI and a couple of others.
So here's my issue:
I flashed the Terrasilent Kernel in order to get CWM so I could flash the .zip's from there, as some weren't available for odin.
The kernel works fine, but as soon as I try to flash any CustomRom (I tried CM9, CM10.2, Hydrogen and the PACMAN Rom), I'm just getting infinite bootloops.
I also tried flashing with SD card removed, SD card back in....doesn't help. No matter whether it's done with odin or CWM.
Mostly I get stuck at the Samsung screen , the PACMAN insert coin or the Terrasilent phonebooth .
Does anyone have suggestions how I could make it work?
Cheers!

Did you wipe the data/cache? Also, I believe you're supposed to flash then ROM first, THEN you flash the kernel.

Forgot to mention that: I tried various ways: first wipe data/cache, then flash ROM; first flash ROM, then wipe cache; wipe cache, flash ROM, wipe again...
In order to get CWM recovery and being able to flash a zip I flashed the Kernel first. For CM9 I followed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213152
As I couldn't flash any of the pre-flash zip from stock, I thought it's necessary to flash a kernel including CWM first. It was done in the same way in some youtube tutorial I watched, where the guy already had the terrasilent kernel on his device.
For odin, I will check if it works with first flashin the ROM and afterwards the kernel.
Cheers for your fast reply!
why my device always gets stock when i try to install CWM recovery for my GT-I9100? i try to install the version 6.0.2.9 using odin but my device just boot with the start up "samsung galaxy I9100" then i hear a start up tone but the screen is just black then nothing,i just flash stock rom to back my phone to its normal condition but still want to have a CWM recovery on my rooted device please help me guys.
heres my device>>>>>
AFAIK, you can't just flash only cwm. It comes bundled with a custom kernel. You can try philz.

If you just want to root without custom kernel, you can check it out.

Hey,
I got a problem with my S2g. I'm currently on Android 4.1.2, with cwm 6 and blazing v-5 kernel. Both were flashed per odin and work fine. However I can't flash a custom rom. Every time I try it I'll get a Status 7 error. I've already tried 4 different ROMs and I'm really annoyed by now. I also tried to factory reset the phone before I flash the ROM, but it didn't make any difference. I also tried deleting the assert command in the updater-script file but somehow my changes in the file won't be saved.
If anyone could help me I would be really thankful!

I've just tried this, didn't work also. I even had to flash the recovery and the kernel again after trying to flash the file in the link, because the phone wouldn't boot normal or in recovery mode.

Try using philz recovery on your phone. It should flash most ROMs fine.

I just did, I still get the Status 7 error. I tried to flash the cm 12.1 and the cm 13.0 nightly rom. I also tried deleting the assert command in the updater-script file but it still won't work. There was no Status 7 error but it still said "Installation aborted".
Does anyone else got an idea how to fix this?

I used this Kernel, I just noticed, that it's only compatible with Android 4.1, 4.2 or 4.3.
I then tried to install the DorimanX Kernel for LP and MM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/development-derivatives/kernel-dorimanx-lp-5-x-x-t3145879) but my phone stucks at the boot screen.

Apologies, I only just noticed you have a i9100g, not a i9100. You can't just flash i9100 kernels as they simply won't work!
You can follow the guide in the CM13 OP here:
