Has anyone come from the OnePlus One and can tell me how the camera on the X compares to it? I don't mind a camera with similar performance to the One, but don't want to take a step down.
Thanks

It's pretty similar and maybe even better. However its my opinion and people might say otherwise.
Oxygen is pretty bad though. I'm just waiting for custom roms

Bump. Anyone come from OPO?
yes, I went from an OPO to iphone to OPX.
The camera app in OPO was definitely better then the OPX (cm11s vs oxygen). If you compare the quality of still photos(when viewed on pc) then I guess they are almost equal quality. But taking pictures was a better experience on OPO mainly because the viewfinder preview was very smooth.
For video recording OPO wins easily in both HD and full HD. slo mo 120 fps was pretty garbage in both phones.
Hi friends...my one plus one camera was not take clear image once zoom the image..its not clear...onlyblur...plzzz help

Anyone else make the switch from OPO to OPX that can comment?
i switched from OPO to OPX and by far i'm highly disappoint with stock camera app.
No doubt the quality of OPX is better but video recording have lags, that might be causing of oxygen stock camera app.
i tried to inject opo stock camera app into OPX but installation crashed in between.
hoping official cynogen firmware will come for OPX someday.
OPX stock camera app is crap compared to next camera from OPO
Can somebody upload the camera app from the OPO?
This is the better
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3330357&d=1432526944
The camera is not good, there is problem optimization
have more noise
I own OPO and OPX. I have noticed in may occasions that oneplus x is better in camera quality compared with one. So my vote is for OPX.

From what I'm seeing the aosp camera does WAYYYY better at taking night pics than the lg camera. But pictures in motion or of motions still kinda sucks. But in daylight I feel this camera is second to none

I hope there is a fix for the autofocus not working correctly when shooting movie. (It lost focus even if subject moves slowly).

Are you referring to the camera when running custom rom or is that available to sideload/download over stock rom? In what other instances is it better, same or worse than the stock camera?
Sorry for the noob Q but I really don't want to lose the good camera when rocking a custom ROM. I only want the custom rom as I'm coming from the super stable/smooth Nexus 4. Everything from games to regular apps are highly optimised for the nexus software. Yet I love, knock on, IR blaster, built in radio, stock camera etc of the G2.
Really not a fan of the AOSP camera when I flashed OES ROM. Anyone know if it's possible to sideload the LG camera app, or is it just impossible?
Well i have malladus custom stock rom. His rom has some kind of update that make the camera focus faster in daylight. But the AOSP rom that i used had a WAYYY faster autofocus at night.

What AOSP ROM were you using? Isn't malladus a stock based ROM?
I sideloaded the nexus 5 camera app on my stock rooted G2 and found it to be seriously weak compared to the stock camera app. Although in dark conditions, even the stock camera would show motion blur all the time. I'm dying to flash AOSP but don't want a poor camera.
Are my fears unwarranted?

The stock camera app is pretty solid for me. Loving this thing so far!!!
Exactly David. I've done side by side comparison with family i5 taking still shots and the g2 produced better exposed and detailed images. Moving objects however and the iPhone was much better.
Do you have any experience with the AOSP camera from the AOSP ROMs? Are they better or worse than stock camera?

I tell no lies the AOSP camera is much quicker at focusing at night. having did a day time comparison tho. Couldnt keep it that long

The camera is the only reason that makes me want to replace this phone. Especially that I am about to be a father, I am so excited and I want to take many pics of my kid lol
The battery life on the other hand is what really makes me want to keep it.
Can anyone try out Camera360 from the Play Store and post the results for low light and motion shots? (I don't have the phone yet)
Try the Focal camera. In my limited experience, it focuses quicker and seems a little more responsive.

I've tried pretty much every combination of roms and camera apps. My experiences are :
The LG camera app does better in most aspects regarding picture quality due to greatly superior image processing algorithms.
Aggressive sharpening, what in my opinion is a bit too long shutter speed and too long focus time makes it seem sluggish compared to an iPhone 5S. It takes more effort taking a good picture.
Additionally, things like panorama are useless at night. The viewfinder fps is horribly slow, making the camera ux feel really bad.
The aosp app is quicker at opening, but has less functionality. I can't understand anyone claiming the aosp camera taking better pictures at any time of day, the night photos are terribly dark.
It's easy to see that the closed source components of the LG camera software effortlessly blows the aosp drivers out of the water.

I've always been a fan of those quickshot camera apps. I have a son too so I just blast my camera at him for 8-10 shots a second and pick the best one.
Also you can try to lower the megapixel down. I'm not sure if this would make it faster but should. There are also steps you can do in the settings to provide quicker response times. I believe there is also some modifications that fix a few things for a better experience also.
I've heard that the camera is actually pretty good, but flawed because of bugs and timings not being fine tuned (possibly a kernel fix). I've not had much usage with my camera but it takes pretty good shots when I've needed it to. Coming from a Galaxy Nexus, I don't see much difference.
In my opinion, its a quick camera. It is what it is.
You can also just record video and pull pics from it.
There are several options. I like the Burst shots myself, then just go back and delete the blurry ones.
Hi i have on my S4 mini 9195 the CyanogenMod 12.1.

Try: Focus or Cyanogenmod camera app, they're pretty similar but I prefer CMcamera.
Open camera is the best by far.
i really like the stock camera. And bec of it i am coming back to stock rom from cm12.1, i really like cm12.1 Rom. i am sometime go for it but come back to stock rom because of camera. Tried alots of cameras some are mentioned here. Which are good but i kinda of not satisfied with them . i wish sometime in future Stock camera come to cm.

Will never happen. As source for this has never been released by Samsung. Has been this way for ALL custom ROMs since ever. The camera is the main reason I keep going back to stock. Focus is horrible on pretty much all custom ROMs. But because of major security flaws in stock OS I'll be switching back to CM.
Maybe auto focus is terrible but manual is damn good for macros. I used to make macros of smartphone motherboards, mostly after water damage to show clients that they phones wasn't stop working just by themselves. I can tell You on stock pictures from my phone was a lot worse than my coworker iPhone 5 and now they are a lot sharper and brighter than on his iPhone. I never tested outside photos on CM but I think it's only matter to feel manual focus.
Snap on CM11
Also using 12.1 on s4 mini, I've tried all cameras but have settled on Snap Camera HDR. Focuses fast and accurately, and doesn't lag. Also works well in lower light.
I just came back from CM 12.1 to CM11 in my S4 Mini Duos and switched to snap Camera HDR. Far better than built in CM11 camera app. The only thing I miss is the capturing with on/off button...
I use A Better Camera
Google Camera is pretty fast.
I've settled on A Better Camera (running on CM12.1) as I like layout etc., admittedly auto focus is not as good as CM app in some lighting conditions but a quick tap on the screen and it will focus perfectly.
Try the Ucamera application.
It is very good and it has many effects. It s available on play store
Google Camera is a pretty good choice.
It is not so simple. You can not have the same quality stock cam because any cam app is working with generic drivers in CMs or any other ROM CM based . For the same reason , the audio (mostly capture) also will never have the same quality.
It is a price to pay: Camera and audio quality worse.
Some apps can even do a good job, but difficult to achieve equal quality.
Until the other day I used CM13 and even liked, but needed quality to scan a document on an emergency. I had to restore Stock Backup. I lost the desire to again change the ROM and stayed in Stock. Unfortunately it is a reality.
Some apps can even do a good job, but difficult to achieve equal quality.
One consolation is to use some Xposed Modules and other tools that make Stock ROM ... Less outdated, I would say.

very true. most of the time i go back to stock jelly bean. No kitkat update for i9190
I have Camera Next, CM12.1. My favorite camera app. But it works fine in CM13?
So I got my LG G5 today and already I see issues. In snapchat the camera quality and the photo resolution is WAY worse than the camera app especially for rear camera. This also happens in other apps which use its own camera instead of system one like instagram and fb messenger.
Here are photos of same place taken at almost same time
Snapchat - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwYUx-GeAB7bS00wT0JCNDFiaHM/view?usp=drivesdk (file size - 833kb)
Camera app - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwYUx-GeAB7bZDU1cWxFUkdpVkE/view?usp=drivesdk (file size - 7.3 mb with HDR off)
Such big difference in file size shows that there is definitely a problem or is it snapchat doing it on purpose to reduce date usage?
Why is this and is there a fix? I use snapchat alot and the photo quality looks same as my old note 2 maybe even worse....
Thanks
Also same as my LG G4
I would now avoid taking from Snapchat camera, I would go to Camera Roll which is in Memories. The picture quality is awesome as I took from stock camera. I would upload from Camera Roll only instead of ****ty Snapchat camera.
Yeah I asked my friends who have Galaxy S7 edge and for them it's the same too, well it's good that memories is a thing now.
Thanks.
I have an G5 and the quality is pretty bad too, even in good light you only get a 'decent' photo/video/selfie, what I do now is the same, camera roll, but sometimes I only want to use the snapchat app like otrher people
I used to had an Xperia C5 ultra and the selfie cam was AWESOME, the best I had ever test, even better than in a iPhone, I have a friend that has a LG G4 and another one has a Samsung S6 and the quality is damn good too(S6 is awesome for selfie on SC)
Sorry I never used snapchat. But any xposed moduels help?

Hey guys, I just ordered the phone today and it'll be arriving in not more than a month or so.
I'm curious if Camera quality really is different depending on the ROM because of the libs, framework or IDK, enlighten me.
Question is in the title anyway, thank you!
Google camera HDR+ app on nougat roms. Pretty good HDR pics and great in low light.
someone took the app from google phones and made it usable with phones with snapdragon 820

Heyyo, eh camera quality is kinda subjective... For me? I do prefer Nougat ROMs with the modified google camera as mentioned before.
There is one downside to Nougat ROMs though and that's the camera flash... Sadly the way LeEco implemented the flash via I2C doesn't work well with current nougat ROMs thus it isn't perfectly synched with the camera. So for dark photos with flash? Marshmallow ROMs are still better in that condition. I rarely take photos with flash so I'm not too concerned but just gonna mention it so you know too

Here's a bunch of photos I took with the Google camera mod with HDR+ set to auto as it tends to work best on auto for a balanced shutter speed and quality.
https://goo.gl/photos/zsxYdUGLJGbkBRD28
So yeah, thus far Nougat with the modded google camera works darn good.
Here's the version of it I'm using
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=745425885120756004
Like I mentioned previously the only downside to Nougat camera quality is flash synchronization. It's not perfect as LeEco uses I2C and thus far the community developers sadly have not been able to mimic it in custom Nougat ROMs... Sadly LeEco will probably never release the source code for it...
If flash synchronization is extremely important to you? That would be the only reason I'd stick with a Marshmallow ROM.

The EUI versions still have a much superior focus but GCam has a incredible better quality on night photos. I swap betwen EUI and RR Nougat from time to time to test new versions for GCam.

Do we have that on Official/Marshmallow based Custom ROMs? And do you have some apps that simulate [email protected] FPS?
AFAIK, no rom has 60 fps with 1080p, even the official MM roms.
In fact, I don't think you can record 60 fps in any resolution, even 720p and below. You do have slow-mo [email protected], looks a bit pixelated though.
P.S.: 4k and 1080p might have artefacts in official roms, noticed that when I got mine a week ago. It's a case of low video bitrate, if you bump up the bitrate (with 3rd party apps)- you can go all the way up to 100mb/s - there's no artefacts.

On the official MM roms, if you pointed the camera at the sky you could notice a lot of artefacts from the compression (low bitrate, around 20 mb/s). Bumping it up to 30 or 40 removed the artifacts
Anyone know of a Google Cam version that doesn't have this annoying red/brown tint. Often the pictures come out really over 'warm'.
Here are some examples of what I mean:
(See attachments)
Picture straight out of Gcam
And then edited to what it should really look like
Anyone else noticed this problem?
I can't tell if it's purely Gcam or if it exists in all images from the camera and that it's just that Gcam exacerbates it.
Any settings anywhere or Camera apps that allow tweaking of tint settings and hdr etc?
Cheers
I think gcam oversaturates the image I've noticed it on my pixel 4 xl daily driver.

It does a bit, but on the G5 it seems to result in this weird brown/red tint to everything.
When I used it on my Nexus 6P it gave incredible photos.
I've started playing with Snap Camera HDR a bit more recently. This app is brilliant and is usually my go-to camera app, but Is been struggling to get good results with it on the G5.
However, I've recently dedicated some more time to fiddling with the settings and think I've now found some that get great results.
I'll post my settings when I get a chance.
