What did you use to backup your SMS messages?
You sure you picked the external SD as your backup location, and not internal storage?
I think in stock Rom we can't pick sd r internal storage but when I backup sms the file in sd card ,after bootunlock and s off it's not showing any back up file even though file are there in same place .

Are you sure you picked the removable SD and not the internal storage ("virtual SD") for the backup location? If you picked internal storage, I think this gets wiped when you unlock the bootloader.
Hey thanks for your reply ,problem solved when I install dev edition

hello, plz tell me how to fix this. my s2 not accessing internal storage both from file manager and from pc. but it shows in recovery. currently am on carbon 4.3. i tried many file manager but every one shows only external sd card and system ,and internal folder is empty. plz tell me how to fix this. otherwise i should flash it to stock rom.
did complete wipe and cleared cache ,dalvik cache tried other custom rom, Nothing worked
thanks
It does seem like a problem with the ROM to me, but you could try to access it with linux instead of Windows/OSX just to see if that makes a difference. If it were me, since you have already flashed a ROM, try another custom ROM, maybe CM stable to keep it predictable. See if that fixes the problem. Or just re-download your current ROM and re-flash, you never know.

I tried different ROMs but same problem there. In file manager the internal SD card is empty and in recovery there it is.
I even can't open gallery or camera and can't download from browser. It gives error of " no internal SD card".

And also can't use Bluetooth because while receiving files it save it to internal SD card , and give error while receiving files. When there are no internal SD card accessible how it can save it.
And also I used GalaxSim unlock previously to unlock my phone, now it is giving error of sim lock, because the GalaxSim unlock files are save into Internal Memory and it can't be accessible so it giving sim lock error.

So in recovery you can see the internal storage but nowhere else? And you tried CM stable?

Hello Sir,
I Have Installed a Rooted Version Of VS98547a ROM vy xdabeb via twrp , but its not showing Internal Storage , Plz Help Me.
Thank You.
Anyways I got the HTC one max about a month ago. Love it but lately my sounds were messing up so I called Verizon up and did a factory reset and updated to the new Ota. I cannot transfer any file in between my internal and external SD card. And before I did this factory reset when I got the phone I was able to restore my text messages using super backup pro so I'm assuming not being able to move files in between the drives is also making my restore not work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
EDIT 1: After further research it seems the ota is the culprit. Damn it lol. I've managed to restore my text onto my old s3 and just use verizon cloud. not the viable way but it works i guess.

SDcard write permission issue after 4.4.2 OTA. Root can fix the issue by editing permission media. Restoring data from SDcard would not be an issue since OTA 4.4.2 can Read from SD, but can't Write on SDcard.
Hmm it seems odd then that the backup I made to my SD card can't be or won't allow me to restore my text to where I assume is the internal SD card

I'm looking for some help transferring back ups from device to device.
Both are M8 ATT
I have the back ups on external SD and while they show up on the backed up device, they don't show up on the other device.
What am I missing? I've never dealt with transferring back ups, but I think I have to change some coding?
Go into titanium settings on new device and change location of backup folder to external.

So you recommend using titanium for this process instead of TWRP?
Complete brain fart. Sorry. Can you not just go to restore from sd card in the menu of twrp

Have you tried moving the contents of the twrp backups from the external sd to the internal sd? Also, was the rom that was backed up a custom rom? My guess is that if it was, it enabled the read/write permissions to the external card which Kit Kat disables on stock roms. If that's the case, and your new phone is still stock, it can't restore from the external. If you're on a stock rom now, go flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700310 to enable permissions and you should be good to go.
I'll try that.
Actually backed a up stock M8 and transferring to a gpe RUU I don't want.
Same as backing up stock before RUU but somehow it got wiped.

4.2 and forward see the internal memory differently than the old stock 4.1.
If you go to (system root)/data/media, you'll see the files you're looking for from the internal memory, plus a folder titled "0", which is what is NOW recognized as internal.
So I just inserted and sd card after upgrading, rooting & twrping. My internal storage is almost full. Can I transfer TWRP totally to the sd card or just the backups? Can I put all my contacts on the sd card? Music? Pics? This is my first android phone so I'm all noobed out. Thanks.

TWRP is your system recovery so it has to stay with the system, but your saves can definitely go on your SD. Music and pictures can go on SD also.

Okay, thanks. Is there a way to delete TWRP saves from the internal drive? I looked but didn't see a way.

Yes, you can delete from internal by using a file manager (es file manager i.e.)
Or by navigating to your internal storage while using your PC.

If you made the backups for a reason move them to the sd card or to a PC. Once the backup is gone it's gone. Which begs the question, why make the backup in the first place?

I see what you are saying, but I make updated backups frequently so the previous ones become obsolete. At over 2 gigs apiece I don't keep all my old ones around.
