Hello,
Has anyone experienced any issues with the upper earphone speaker, the sound is bad compared to any other mobile phones.
I have manually tested receiver with the *#808#(Oxygen's built in testing app) and it sounds just OK, but when calling someone, the person on the other side sounds just BAD.
I wonder if this is a network, oxygen OS issue or did I just get a bad upper speaker?
I don't know if this is related but I also have issues with both the mic and the speaker. When I call people they sound quite tinny, and to them there's a slight echo when I speak along with a tinny sound too.
I've seen on the Oneplus forums that's there might be a fix for this and it has to do with the noise cancellation feature, but no one seems 100% sure as to how to fix. There are two fixes going round with mixed results for everyone.
EDIT: Typo & formatting
definitely bad quality ear piece speakers.
We can increase the volume by editing mixer_paths.xml but that highlights the quality problem even more...
I guess we are slowly starting to realize why oneplus is selling phones at amazing price.
the nickname of this phone should be "jerky" and not onyx.

Hello,
I have read in reviews that the ear piece speaker and external facing speaker are not the best in our phone, HTC Amaze, however, I was wondering if any one had tweaks or an app to "boost" them, outside of manually adjusting the volume on the phone of course?
I think I saw 2 apps that were developed for the nexus galaxy that improved the LED and the speakers respectively.
Thanks for any ideas

you say that cuz of the reviews you have read or cuz you really feel they are not the best?
I have found that I would like a louder ear piece and speaker.
It is OK in a quiet environment however, if there is exterior or ambient noise I feel myself working harder than I would like to ensure I hear clearly the person speaking.
You don't have a similar experience?
I'm fine. Everyone's hearing is different however. Are you talking about direct ear contact or strictly headphones?

direct ear contact I find the volume level and quality not as good as I would like.

Jeesh! It is a common problem in a noisy environment. I have excellent hearing and no ear wax...ewww. I have a terrible time hearing through the earpiece and find myself constantly moving the phone around on my ear trying to find the sweet spot.
If you enable the "hearing aids" option in settings/call, it will amplify the sound considerably but then it sounds like a speakerphone with no privacy. Maybe in a very noisy environment, that wouldn't be a problem. I tried it in my local very noisy grocery store and it worked fine but still sounded too much like the speakerphone. At least I could hear what the other person was saying!
I have moved the phone around my ear a lot to figure out where the loudest sound is coming from and when I sort of point the very top of the phone at the ear canal, the sound is much louder. Maybe this will help but it is still frustrating. Never had a phone that is so hard to hear in a noisy environment.
Hey guys, today I noticed that on my Z2 the sound coming from the left speaker is noticeably clearer and louder. The right one sounds as if water hadn't completely dried out, despite the tablet not being exposed to any. Interestingly the difference isn't as huge if I flip the device 180°, then it sounds rather fine.
Could this be a software issue or should I warranty this?
I fear there's nobody being able to answer this. It's something you need to hear yourself.
It MIGHT be a software issue as it wouldn't be the only one connected with audio output: Try changing the orientation of the Z2 while listening to an audio source - sound gets muted for a fracture of a second. Shouldn't happen.
I just checked the audio output of my Z2: Both quietspeakers (they just don't deserve being called LOUDspeakers) sound the same. So it's more likely to be a hardware issue at your side; sorry.
The left speaker seems to be a tad quieter than the right.

Can anyone who's used it comment on speaker performance? I love everything else but lack of stereo speakers disappoints.

I can't comment on the quality of the speaker as I don't have the phone yet but it does seem sort of short-sighted on LG's part. For me it's not a deal breaker as the headphones are more important. However with a conscious effort to consider sound quality, you would think they would want to jump on board with the idea of stereo front facing speakers.
I think that having stereo speakers would increase the bezel. I'd rather have thin bezel than front facing stereo speakers. Having the speaker on the bottom is perfect for me as on the back the volume is greatly reduced when the phone is sitting on a table (missed some morning alarms this way).
1+X Speaker is too QIUET. The 1+1 is louder. Is it like this or is it DEFECT?

Could be a defect - though I haven't got a 1+1 to compare to...
Its just as loud as my htc one m8 though.
Its plenty loud in my opinion. Was slightly disappointed when i realised it was only one speaker on the bottom
Probably a defect. Get a return or refund. The earpiece and speaker both get LOUD.

You can't really compare the two, the OPO has stereo output. The OPX has only the left speaker. Unless you are referring to the ear speaker, then they about the same.
It's not really clear enough to hear especially when I'm outside

It was a Hardware issue or do you solve these issue with Software? Like reset vor fullwipe? I have the same Problem... I can hear my phone-partner but it is verry verry noisy...
Either you really have a hardware defect or a serious problem with your hearing
I nearly get a heart attack every morning when my alarm goes off... and yes, it is THAT loud! -.- I had to reduce the volume of my alarm .mp3 via software to be bearable.
Mine is ok. Slightly above average. Maybe its individual preference
I don't mean the two speakers on the bottom side. I mean the speaker which we use for calling on the top side. Alarm and Musik works great, because it cames Form the two speakers.
It's possible to make stereo sound with earpiece like nexus 5?

OPO is dual-speakers, not stereo output. Although, my OPX still has a louder loudspeaker as my OPO. This is very noticeable in playing games and music.
Anyone else find that the speaker on the Moto Z to be awful at loud volumes? Mine is tingy, muffled and just distorted at high volumes. Even when talking on the phone.

Mine is okay. It certainly isn't great at load volumes, but I guess that's to be expected by a combined ear piece/mono speaker. It isn't worse than my OPO for sure. The sound isn't distorted on high volumes tho, it just sounds a bit worse than on lower volumes
Mine also has the cracking sound a few months after I purchased my phone.
What I did was to CLEAN the speaker with a cloth (something that can get inside the mouth, a bit damp).
My speaker was covered with DUST and this caused the cracking sound.
After thoroughly cleaning it, my phone sounds better now (the crackling noise was ALMOST gone).
