Hi,
I have terrible 3G (UMTS) reception at my office, but good 2G (GSM), so to save battery and make the phone as usable as possible I switch to 2G when at work. I used to go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Mobile Networks and switch on "Use only 2G networks", and lately I've been using the "Toggle 2G/3G" function in the CM7 notification power widget.
However, it is slightly annoying to have to remember this toggle every time I enter/leave the office, so I'd really like to have an app that does this for me. Does anyone know of an app that can toggle 2G/3G based on either location or time? I'm using CyanogenMod 7.0.3 if that makes a difference.
I've tried a few different profile/setting switching apps, but none of them seem to be able to do this (while all can turn APN on/off, which I don't want. I want data enabled all the time, just over GSM part of the time). Even the apps that claim to have a toggle for 2G/3G seem to be just shortcuts to "Mobile Networks" settings.
Would really appreciate any helpful suggestions
You might consider buying Tasker. It can do what you wish even on a geolocation basis. So whenever you enter/leavr certain location proximity it will do whatever you set it to do.
Thanks, tasker does just what I wanted.
Hi,
I have noticed something quiet strange on my i9300: Whenever I lose WLAN connectivity and try to get online, as long as the WLAN is on, the i9300 says it cannot connect. It is only after I switch WLAN off, that the phone connects via 3G. I always thought the device would switch automatically? Seems not to be the case - or am I missing something??? Can you confirm or maybe tell me what setting I have to make in order to get that right?
thank you
Hi all.
I'm having issues with my n9776 4.1.1 kernel 3.4.
firstly, WIFI and Mobile data lock up, and I have to restart the phone.
Also when the phone goes to sleep and I wake it sometimes the wifi states my networks are out of range even if I rescan. I have to turn the wifi off and then on and it connects automatically.
Also is there any way to get the notification bar from the 'fake JB' working on this version? I liked the fact that if one sim was missing it would hide that signal meter, this latest version doesn't.
Any help would be appreciated,
Thanks.
UPDATE:
It turns out that aquamail was causing all the problems, In settings there was a tick in WIFI IN SLEEP MODE. Deselecting this cured the wifi and data problems.
Hi all,
I have a problem
Samsung S9+ / Oreo 8
WiFi does not automatically turn on near saved networks any more.
Have tried:
-restart phone
-reset network settings
-put on airplane mode
-make hotspot
-uncheked the option, restart the phone, check the option
When i turn the WiFi manually it Auto-connects to the saved network.
Android build
R16NW.G965FXXS2BRI1
Phone does not enable the wifi automatically in places where I have the wifi network saved.
Network wifi is checked to "Turn on Wi-Fi automatically" and in Improve accuracy settings, Wi-Fi scanning and Bluetooth scanning are also turned on.
When I am at home or in a place where I use the saved wifi network, I must enable the wifi manually (toggle the wifi button on) and the phone connects to that wifi with no problem.
I aven tried to boot in safe mode and see if there it enables the wifi automatically and it did not. What i did:
-disabled manually the wi-fi
-restarted the phone into safe mode
-the wi-fi staid disabled although the option to turn on automatically wifi and wi-fi scanning were turned on. the wifi signal was full bar also.
I have noticed that when disabling the power saving feature(which was on medium with background data enabled) my wifi network was added to frequently used networks. I disabled it manually and restarted the phone. When the phone booted, the WiFi turned itself on.
Then i enabled the power saving feature also on medium with background data enabled, i turned off the WiFi manually, immediately i got a notification that my network was taken out from frequently used network. I disabled the power saving feature, restarted the phone and again the WiFi does not turn automatically on.
Recently got a Mate 20 Pro, after initial setup it recommended that I enable WIFI calling. On the WIFI calling screen there was the option to turn WIFI calling on/off and then another option to set the preference to WIFI or cellular.
I set the preference to cellular and when the signal drops low the "VoWifi" indicator appears, so I know it is working. The problem is that the option to change the preference has disappeared from the WIFI calling screen. I want to set the prefernece over to WIFI but the option is gone. Does any one know what would cause this
