Micro SD file system - OnePlus X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

what is/are the micro sd file system(s) recognised by OPX?
i inserted a 64G micro sd formatted with exFAT, and it was not recognised by OPX.. (it was recognised by TWRP as "/external_sd")
should i try NTFS then? (but im afraid TWRP might not recognise it then..)
any hint? thx..

Ive allso had exfat and have problems with it, now i have ntfs and it works prefect.

In Oxygen 2.1.2 my experience was that the only filesystem working BOTH in Oxygen, Windows and TWRP was Fat32 formatted in TWRP. I really tried them all (exFat, fat32, NTFS, Ext4, f2fs)
However, after upgrade to Oxygen 2.1.3 I discovered that also exFat works everywhere so I reformatted my 128 GB card to exFat.

yes v2.1.3 added back support to exFAT..

What is correct file path for sdcard? Stock E1005 2.1.3-X using stock file Manager?
I have 64gb sdxc gskill class 10 there is no option to format card on phone. Upon boot "sdcard available click to access".
Shows up in Storage. Saving to sdcard is hot & miss. ie. Moving OpenCamera frm internal to sdcard, shows up Settings>Apps, ON SDCARD tab
But not in file Manager

Sorry to bump a really old thread but I noticed on 3.1.4 ExFat is not supported and the phone asks me to reformat and it goes into FAT32
Anyone else seeing this on 1+X?

Yes I found this rather annoying I ended up just formatting it in end. Lol. There is ways around it but eh.

exFat in ClockworkMod Touch Recovery doesn't work for me

When I format my extSD to exFat ClockworkMod Touch Recovery doen't mount or recognize it.
"There is no extSD"
I formatted my card on the PC.
exFat - Clustersize(standard)
Anyone with the same problem?
Same here, I'm bummed...
Linux's exFat implementation has issues across the board, don't use it if you don't have to.
Use FAT32 or Linux-filesystems such as EXT2/3/4 and you should have no issues with any Rom or recovery.
Are there any good effective ways to reformat a 64BG exFat SD card to Fat32? The ways i have found so far on this forum haven't worked...
I have the same issue here guys. I think I will try to format it again in fat32
Had the same issue until I formatted my 64g memory card to fat32 with with a pc software called guiformat.
Just download the software online and you would be fine.

How to reformat SD card from exFAT

Since exFAT is not supported by AOKP roms and I plan to use one, I have to reformat my sd card. The thing is I don't know how and I cant even find out how to do it.
I've tried reformating in CWM, in Android itself and in Windows (by plugging the phone). There is no option of changing the partition format.
The only way possible is plugging the SDcard directly to the computer? I dont have any adapter so I cant really do it wihout buying one
I use either EaseUS Partition Manager or MiniTool Partition Wizard...google them, you can reformat any SD card to pretty much any format

Format it from within the phone.. Go to settings >storage.. It will format it in fat32
sent from here, there, somewhere!!
Oh, I did format it from within the phone earlier, just like you said. It is in fat32 then I guess, will install an aosp rom later and check it (im currently on sammy based)
thanks guys
Well If it is different can't you just install the new rom then format the card within the new rom??
Also i am sure the GS3 formats the card to exfat and not FAT32 as i thought we didn't have the 4gb limitations??

E:can't mount/external_sd/

I've been having no trouble with flashing roms from my external sd card. I'm looking to completely wipe my phone (internal and external sd cards) to get a fresh install. I formatted my external sd card (via the phone). I then connected it to my PC, copied over my rom and a wipe tool no problem. My phone reads the SD card fine when it's booted up, can see the rom i've copied over.
When I re-boot into recovery mode with CWM-based Recovery (v6.0.1.4 - siyah), it says "E:can't mount/external_sd/" when I try to find my rom to flash.
I'm wondering if the problem is the siyah thing, it's not the kernal i'm using, if was installed on my phone with a rom I no longer use. That said, it wasn't an issue before I formatted my external SD card.
I've just updated CWM to ClockworkMod Touch 6.0.3.2 which has got rid of the Siyah version. I've also formatted the SD card again as i've read that formatting via the phone changes the file format to something cwm doesn't like. I did it via PC, it's formatted at exfat. Still made no difference, CWM won't read it.
Might be a silly question but did you go into "mounts and storage" I. Cwm and check the external sd card is mounted?

I have tried that. It didn't work, it would give the same error. I have managed to get it to be read in CWM, I downloaded the ROM manager tool, used that to put a partition on the SD card. Then I was able to format the card via CWM. I've not had a chance to put my ROM back on the SD card and retry. One thing is, when I booted up the phone after formatting the card in CWM, the phone shows it as blank or has an unsupported file system, saying it needs to be formatted. I wonder why there is a conflict?
I needed to format the sd card on my pc, it needed to be fat32. All sorted now

If you really want exFAT, try Philz recovery linked in my signature. It is CWM but with loads of great extra features (including exFAT support).
I actually thought that exFAT support meant it can format in exFAT. I find it odd that exFAT is the native format that Samsung uses but CWM doesn't support it.
Personally I use FAT32 myself as my main computer is Linux and exFAT is too microsofty for it to recognise.
I've installed that and re-formatted my SD card into whatever Samsung uses (think it's exfat) as fat32 was making windows explorer slow and crash prone
sup guys am having a problem with my samsung galaxy s3,via E:can't something related to mount format.............i mount for mated ,anyone who know how i can fix it?

SD Card SanDisk 64GB not working on Custom ROMS

As the title says it all maybe there's some advice or tips from you guys to get it recognized on my Poco F1.
I'm on OmniRom and after booting up the device with SD card it freezes all and got automatic reboot.
On LOS 16 I got bootloop.. Don't even booting up at all.
I need it because I need to put some files there to flash xiaomi.eu and that ofcourse will delete internal storage.
I'm not experienced with the MTP flashing or similar options but everybody is welcomed to help me with step by step instructions.
Thanks allot in advance Poco Fans:silly:
I don't think the roms support exfat microsd cards yet. There's a workaround though: format your sd card to FAT32 using a program on your pc (you will need another program because windows by default can't format large sdcards to fat32). The thing is that FAT32 doesn't support 4gb+ files so that could be an issue but at least it's better than no sdcard at all right.
Another option is to move the files manually temporarily to your pc using MTP so you can copy them back when you've flashed xiaomi.eu

Thanks for your Info. I remember that TWRP could format to FAT32 as well?
Or maybe I could buy another SD card with FAT 32 Format already?
adding exFAT support in rom is not a big thing... our kernel supporting exfat so its just the rom which needs some patches or commits!!

F2FS problem

Hi everyone;
I flashed the latest TWRP (3.2.3-1) today but it seems that it can't read my NTFS SD card, so i formatted it using F2FS (i heard it is sd friendly), now i get "task failed" whenever i try to copy/paste anything to it from my internal phone memory, the weird thing is that "es file explorer" ask for root permition to paste in my SD card
I'm using AospExtended 181205 build (android pie), but i remember facing that problem even with android Oreo.
I re-formatted my SD card using ext4, but still can't copy a thing to my SD card.
The SD card i'm using is a Samsung evo+ 128gb.
If i use f2fs or ext 4: i won't be able to copy a thing on it.
If i use NTFS i won't be able to access my SD card from TWRP
FAT is not an option as i will lose the ability to store large files.
What can i do guys?
I got over that by using exFAT and franco kernel
