How to root micromax canvas 5, e481? Can't find a way to root it, tried various apps...
i've tried every method possible but i cannot find a way to root it ... One major problem is that this phone is not being recognized by adb ... When i type adb devices from the command prompt nothing shows up ... And i've spent a long time searching for adb drivers for this device but cannot find any ... Please do help ... Have tried all the one click apps ... None of them work ... It's a media tek processor running lollipop 5.1
The kernel number is 3.10.65+.
i have a terrible feeling that this is some kinda un-rootable device ...
Please help !

Thank you very much for your time and efforts, but i am unable to perform the second step mentioned in the thread.
Can you tell me how to perform this step on Micromax E481?
1.2) Power on the device in the BOOTLOADER mode. Execute in your computer the command “fastboot oem unlock”, say YES with “vol+” and “power” buttons. Then select reboot. This ERASES completely your device (factory restore), but the bootloader will be UNLOCKED! Two reboots needed.
Have you unlocked the bootloader, if so flash the mentioned recovery through fastboot, command for flashing recovery, fastboot flash recovery, <recovery name >.img

I have asked a very simple question that how to run a "command" in SP Flash Tools ?
Don't know, i used Minimal Adb & fastboot
Hi
I did below steps to root Micromax Canvas E481 but it failed.
1. enable OEM unlock, USB Debugging and reboot the platform in fastboot mode
2. #fastboot oem unlock -> Success
3. #fastboot reboot
4. Again set USB debugging and OEM Unlock
5. # Fastboot reboot bootloader
6. #fastboot flash recovery recovery-custom-wiko-fever.img
7. #fastboot reboot
8. Power off platform
9. Go to recovery mode using Vol up + power button
10 I get "No Command" on the screen
11. Press power button, I get in the recovery mode with below options on the screen
Android system recovery <3e>
ALPS.L1.MP3.V2.21_TINN06753.65U.G_P35
Volume down to move highlights;
Volume up to select
reboot system now
apply update from ADB
apply update from sdcard
apply update from cache
wide data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
backup user data
restore user data
root integrity check
reboot to bootloader
power down
view recovery logs
12. Choose apply update from sdcard
unable to find BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip under /sdcard tree
13. Tried to use adb side load and it gave below error
#adb sideload BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip
loading: 'BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip'
error: device not found
I have few questions
Is the "recovery-custom-wiko-fever.img" compatible with E481
how do we confirm OEM unlocking on micromax canvas E481?
Thank You!
MJ

--Install /sdcard/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip ...
Opening update package
Installation aborted.
--Install /sdcard/BETA-SuperSU-v2.52.zip ...
Opening update package
Installation aborted.
Thank you!

Are u sure u have unlocked the bl? U have to use vol+ button to proceed once ur command is accepted in fastboot, if it is unlocked ur phones data will be erased, one more thing for ur question,Yes the recovery supports e481,flashed xposed through this,,, After flashing the recovery dont reboot the phone go directly into recovery mode.... Hope this will help
Will that prevent OTA update ?
Will unlocking bootloader and installing recovery prevent OTA update ?
E481 is said to be getting Marshmallow, should i root device with this method anyway ?
Well, i don't trust micromax that much, if they did update it, it is not gonna happen before 3-4 months, till then custom roms will be out,if you are OK without root then wait

Download the Adb and Fastboot in the given link and install it, after installing it go to the installed folder hold Shift + Right click and select Open windows command prompt here, then turn off your mobile to fastboot mode, It can be done by turning off the phone and holding Volume Up button while connecting the USB port to the PC, You must have fastboot drivers installed (Well... Google it or possibly it will come with your original mobile drivers as you may've installed before)
After you did this all in the Folder open command prompt type: "fastboot devices" without quotation and you will see your devices code or number in the command prompt window, now download this
https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5OYTnbjVEkfYmlCWWlJMV9rbTA/preview
rename it to boot.img
and extract it in the adb folder and type: "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
in windows command prompt when done now type "fastboot reboot" and after a successful reboot disconnect your devices and you will have Recovery installed in your phone.

if u r rooted,
then install teminal emulater
open that
type "sudo"
hit enter
then type " adb reboot oem-unlock "
device will boot into bootloader mode,
press volume up, done
then follow rest of process, as above.......

Updated P765 -v20C(Indian Version) to CM11 -Kang by Dhiru
Hi All,
First of all Thank you Droideking for the detailed guide for a noob like me. :good::good:
I have updated my L9 p765 Indian version with baseband version 20c (latest JB Update India) to CM11. I have used the ROM - UnOfficial CyanogenMod 11 [KANG] 11 by dhiru1602. The experience is awesome. The GUI is liquid smooth no lags unlike the stock ROM.:victory:
About the guide I would like to confirm that it worked absolutely fine for my Indian Version p765 with v20c baseband. There were no restarts encountered in fastboot mode. Only thing which happened was that when i was running adb command in the command prompt i got the error on command prompt saying adb is outdated please update. The error was gone when i ran the command prompt with run as admin option in windows. Also i used RomManager instead of GooManager as it was not available on playstore.
One more observation - Droideking, in the guide you have mentioned that install gapps after installing ROM and restarting the phone after completing setup. I followed the same but then i realised that RomManager was done as i did a reset and wiped the cache and done a reset. So had to download the RomManager apk on the sdcard and install to boot into recovery to install the Gapps. So i guess its better to install the Gapps soon after you have installed the rom in the recovery before restart.
Here are some of the screenshots of my p765..
Error during installation
When I choose install update from ext sd card and after that there is a error occur
The error is shown in picture...
Please help...
and when i use my stock rom unfortunately the process com.android.phone has stopped. is occurred.

God saves you buddy, this problem occurs due to wrong recovery, recovery stops itself from installing rom, n saves you from bricking device,
install latest recovery, 6.0.4.8 or twrp latest release, below is the link

Finally rooted the phone using Kingroot. Now advancing towards porting a custom recovery for the device. The needed files are stock boot.img and recovery.img of the device. My problem is I have tried all the following ways for their extraction -
1) RomDump script 0.72b by Sebastian404
2) cat proc/mtd
3) log_data to find in which partition the recovery belongs to
But no luck, for all.
anybody, who can help me?
Please don't suggest adb process.

i was having the same problem
i tried flashing cwm recovery which was for coolpad f1 plus (as it is same device with qualcomm processor)
and after flashing my device was unable to boot (or stuck on bootloader)
but it can be cured....
you have to download the batch program developed by cool community
and dazen 1 adb drivers
(you will need the stock recovery to put back your device to life)
replace both the given recoveries in the batch program folder with stock recovery and rename it
then enter bootloader mode (both volume buttons+power button)
open batch program on your pc and press 1 and click enter
now connect your device to pc and press vol. up button to continue
and its done.
now I am trying to flash a stable recovery
I am new to Xda so sorry in advance if i missed something

did you root using kingroot ?
Yes, used Kingroot
I am facing lots of issues with call log and sms , they suddenly don't update or become non responsive. Any way to replace them ?
Guide to rooting infocus Epic 1 (for windows) for build 00.
This method is only tested on build 00IN_1_360 only. If you are on the older build, first update your phone to build 00IN_1_360 then proceed. Check Build number in settings->about phone.
Proceed at your own risk, I will not be help responsible if your phone bricks, Your warranty will be void after this. Also all phone data will be lost including data on internal memory like photos, etc after these steps so take necessary backups.
Prepare your system
1. Extract and Install MTK Driver Auto Installer v5.1632 (google it)
2. Install Phone F Driver (from phone CD-emulation/driver folder upon connecting your phone)
3. Minimal ADB and Fastboot installer v.1.4.2 (from xda)
4. Download latest SuperSU flashable zip file from here
5. Download twrp-3.0.3-0-epic1-noveritynoencrypt.zip from here, extract in the folder where you have installed adb and fastboot
6. Download noencryptnoverty_boot.zip from attachments and extract to folder where you have installed adb and fastboot
Steps to root:
1. Enable Developer options in phone settings (goto phone settings -> about phone -> tap build number 7 times)
1a. Enable OEM unlock
1b. Enable USB Debugging
2. Connect phone to computer, wait for hardware to auto install
3. open cmd as administrator
3a. goto the directory where adb and fastboot is installed
4. type command:
4a.
adb reboot bootloader
(Wait for phone to come in fastboot)
4b.
fastboot OEM unlock
(press vol up key on phone)
4c.
fastboot flash boot noveritynoencrypt.img
4d.
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
4e.
fastboot reboot
You will get an phone orange state prompt, do not worry its normal. Phone may reboot once or twice. Wait for phone to normal bootup.
5. open cmd and type command
5e.
adb reboot recovery
Phone will reboot in recovery i.e. TWRP
6. Tap on Keep system read-only. Do not swipe to allow modifications. If TWRP asks for password, don't enter any press back.
7a. Tap Wipe -> Format Data. Come out to main menu, then click reboot and then recovery to restart recovery.
7b. Tap Wipe -> Advanced Wipe -> Select Dalvik /ART, Cache, Data and Internal Storage. This is important step, as these partitions are encrypted at the moment, so if you flash anything the phone rom may corrupt.
8. Come out and then Tap Reboot -> System
9. Once the phone is back, turn off the phone. Then power on with vol up key pressed to boot into TWRP
10. Tap Backup, select all partitions, select phone storage (SD card preferred) and take backup (optional step but highly recommended )
11. Now tap install, goto the location where you had copied SuperSU zip file, flash it.
Congratulations your Phone is rooted. Reboot, see SuperSU icon in app drawer.
Many thanks to @mujammil786 for providing stock files and @Bornstud for testing twrp builds
Special thanks to our devs @DespairFactor for modifying boot.img to disable Encryption and Verity and @kirito9 for creating TWRP for our device. Without their help, it wouldn’t have been possible.
MODS
(Take backup of your ROM/Data before applying any mods)
Viper4Android (Advanced Sound Enhancement)
Hugely Customizable and better than MaxxAudio or Dolby Atmos IMHO
Now working on our device Infocus Epic 1
Need to flash the 2 attached files via TWRP before installing the official app from HERE. Although latest version v2.5.0.5 also works, but i personally prefer v2.4.0.1 (busybox required)
(Note the attached files are not my work, they are picked from here and here. Say thanks to original contributors.)
Good V4A profile: HERE
Extract it to ViPER4Android Directory in internal Storage
Xposed
Needs no introduction. Every android enthusiast should know what it is. Anyway if you are new, xposed opens limitless ROM customization(s) and useful features via 100s of its modules.
Installation:
1. Flash framework xposed-v87-sdk23-arm64.zip from HERE via TWRP. Reboot after installation will take long time (~10 - 15 minutes)
2. Install app XposedInstaller_3.1.1.apk from HERE
Restoring phone back through SUT
If you are stuck somewhere or want to restore the phone factory state (like for when giving to repair), you can restore the phone back via SUT
Link for build 1280: https://firmwarefile.com/infocus-epic-1
Also dont turn off your phone as suggested in sut readme file. It only works when your phone is on. Check below vid for more instructions

Reduce battery consumption & phone temperature
Found an interesting thread, mod works on our device also

I have tried both flavor 1 and flavor 2 over the past week. Results with flavor 1 were positive in the beginning but for some reason standby drain shot up after 3-4 days, not sure what the reason was.
On flavor 2, I have just disabled MTK perfservice by setting
ro.mtk_perfservice_support = 0 in build.prop
Yes this limits the a72 core to 1.5ghz, but i have noticed phone is heating less and need for charging the phone has reduced. I haven't noticed much drop in performance either, but that might be as I don't use intensive apps.

I've managed to unpack nb0 file through a688 tool, however its only successful in unpacking few files before it crashes with some array size error, but the good thing is I was able to extract the scatter file for this phone before it happened.
Anyway, I was hopeful that I would be able to make backup of Stock ROM and Recovery through it via spflash tools however as it turns out, spflash tool is giving me error while doing readback BROM ERROR: STATUS_BROM_CMD_SEND_DA_FAIL (0xC0060003)
Not sure how to fix it, i've updated my drivers as well as i'm using latest version of spflash tool (SP_Flash_Tool_v5.1628_Win)
Attaching scatter file.

I'm trying to root Infocus Epic 1, its a good budget phone with decent specs. Availability is only in India, not sure other regions. Anyway I'm having hard time to root it, since not much support is available. But so far, I have tried below things:
1. Tried to root with Kingroot, doesn't work .Probably because it is very new version of Marshmallow with Oct'16 patch level and kernel dated in dec 16.
2. Tried to generate scatter file via MTK Droid tool v2.5.3, after enable USB debugging in phone. The phone get detected in the tool, however create scatter file option in block map is disabled I've read somewhere, it might be due to MTK6797 (Helios x20) is quite new and is not yet fully supported by tool yet. Not sure if its true though. But if I can generate scatter file, I can extract phone's stock recovery via SPFlash tool readback to try a hand at porting twrp/cwm with some help..
3. Downloaded stock Infocus Epic 1 firmware in hope for recovering stock recovery.img or MTK scatter file, however on unpacking the firmware package, I found it contains unknown image file of nb0 extension which is it to be flashed via SUT Tool. Not sure how to unpack this file
Any more ideas, how can i atleast start with my quest to root/put custom recovery on this phone ? @Romeotamizh Pls help.

I like this phone and the only thing lacking is Root, Hope someone will do it
I hope so too. However, it seems its not that straight forward anymore i.e. communicating with SPFlash tool on newer MTK chipsets. I was going through guides for LeTV x620 (also with MT6797), not sure but it seems they require authentication file now for the process, which might not be available for our phone.
I already tried all the other download agents like DA_PL.bin, DA_PL_High.bin, DA_BR.bin in flash tool through which this LeTV is able to communicate, it's same error for us with all.
Also other curious thing, I was unable to run any fastboot commands on this phone. The phone gets detected in fastboot when put in fastboot mode (vol - + power) i.e. I get output on fastboot devices.
However If i try to run any commands like fastboot oem get-bootinfo or fastboot oem device-info I get error message remote command unknown

If it's not detected maybe its related to your drivers. I've installed the following drivers
1. Try installing the Phone F Driver (from phone CD-emulation upon connecting)
2. MTK Driver Auto Installer v5.1632.00 (you can get from needrom)
3. Minimal ADB and Fastboot installer v.1.4.2 (from xda)
Run cmd as administrator:
adb reboot bootloader
When phone reboots in fastboot mode
fastboot devices
You should see your phone being detected from above.

Hi all!! recently I had been searching a lot for support on my device Micromax P681 Tab.
I tried googling around as well as on xda but no result found or something totally not related to my device.
For rooting my tab - I attempted Kingroot, Kingoroot, towelroot, one click root & meshuproot tool (both PC software as well as mobile software) but nothing work. Under developer option I have enable OEM unlock from setting as well fastboot oem bootloader unlock and retried above mentioned root tools but all failed to root my device.

I downloaded a app to look at the stuff you can't see it's only rooted in one application and the reason we have no control is Android manager operating system is the admistrator. Not me not att and I can't do anything about it.

Yes, Charles I downloaded a app in Google play store. Some one recommended it.I checked the whole tablet system out.Said my cellular is disconnected, don't know why only thing I can figure is I now have Comcast internet not U-verse &, tablet is a ATT 9020ATrek.It connects to WiFi but drops. I used cellular data yesterday because I can't access ATT mail. But yes the app said I'm not rooted except in one place can't remember cuz technically it's a crappy tablet. But according to Android Lollipop is rooted to Android manager. Not ATT Not me.So that's why we can't be undone unless you get specific permission from a Android form. At least that's my understanding

(1) in settings > developer options > oem unlocking (turn it on)
(2) install drivers provided
(3) Google and download "adb" if you don't already have it
(4) open command prompt and enter commands ...
> adb devices
it displays connected devices
> adb reboot bootloader
wait until rebooted to bootloader mode
> fastboot oem device-info
to check if flashing is allowed
>fastboot flash c:\recovery.img
provide path to recovery file downloaded instead
(4) if you don't understand all this, don't attempt it.

Hi all!! recently I had been searching a lot for support on my device Micromax P681 Tab.
Please someone help me in rooting my tab
