I'm interested in running a custom Rom on my mpcs LG f6 (ms500). I'm a part timer at this, my understanding of code is devastatingly deficient.
I have a an l9 and another f6 that won't even turn on and I'm wondering where, even, to begin.
All are mpcs.
All three, including the one I'm writing this on presently, were/are rooted.
An update took out the non-working f6, and the l9 was my bad.
I'm now on a rooted f6 running battery booster pro, overclocked with freedom kernal, with roehsoft ram expander doubling my ram to 1608.
I realize my circumstances are all over the place, but, if anyone has the genuine benevolence to help me where they can; my gratitude will be unquantifiable.

I'll give a shot at trying to help you with the L9 but I'm going to need some details about what happened. :/
Thank you AshIndigo
L9 rooted and running system tuner pro. I turned on the oem battery function, kernal, doo-hicky (highly technical terminology). The unit ceased recognizing the battery after reboot. It stated, at boot, to insert oem battery and will not take a charge.
I'm considering a wipe and a new bootlaoder with a custom Rom if possible, but I'll settle with just getting it working.

Thats a new one. But what modes can you get into. S/W, fastboot, recovery, the wipe combination? If you can get into s/w mode just use the lg mobile tool and that should fix it. Otherwise we may need to reflash the phone. and is your bootloader unlocked?
It doesn't power up in the slightest. And it won't charge.
Bootloader was not unlocked, I'm still trying to wrap my skull jelly around that. I'm thinking flash might be the best option, but I'd prefer to preserve the data (not likely if flashed). I've downloaded LG flash tool, but the manual data entry is a mystery, excluding imei and serial.

Alright I'm presuming s/w mode doesnt work but if it does then that would be nice. Next thing is to try fastboot. Here is a link to a fastboot for the l9

If you manage to get into fastboot. We can reflash things. Truth to be told I dont know if we reflash we might have to wipe the device. :/
I've resolved myself to things being what they are.

Downloaded, followed instructions. Device booted once and quit while playing around with it, consistent with initial failure as I recall (if only vaguely), now on s/w update screen. Says please wait while upgrading.
Update:
Can enter s/w update. Now takes charge, will likely be 100% by the time you read this.
Lastly, can power on but powers off after entering screen unlock code.
Thank you again AshIndigo.
After some more dabbling, I've made it past the lock screen. The result is a message " please use genuine LG battery" before the unit shuts down and goes into what might might questionably be a bootloop. It's the system tuner pro app, set to start on start-up, that's the thorn in my side.
What are your orders captain?

No apologies needed, your time is greatly appreciated.
I ran the command, with what appears to be success. It seems though, the kernal remains intact.

Ok so before we try to re-flash the kernel. Lets just try the lg mobile support tool. If that doesn't work then heres instructions
1. If you have the p760 then heres the stock kernel
http://www.mediafire.com/download/87i322233ev36k8/stock-kernel.zip
3. Download it
4. extract the boot.img from the zips and put it into the "yours" folder in the fastboot folder
5. Get into fastboot
6. Make sure the device is connected by typing "fastboot devices"
(It should look like this) http://cdn.teamandroid.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/fastboot-devices-600x302.jpg
6a. Pray to Google
7. type "fastboot flash boot boot.img"
8. Pray again.
If you don't have the p760 then tell me which device you have so I can get the kernel

Golden, you missed your calling.
It's a P769(bk). Not that the color makes a difference. It's also a T-mo, not mpcs. If that matters.

Alright so there are 2 options right now.
1. You resign the kernel or wait for me to get on a windows computer so I can resign it.
2. You unlock your bootloader.
If you choose option 1 then and you want to try then here's the link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/optimus-l9/general/guide-install-custom-roms-locked-t3249828
And here's the link to the kernel
http://d-h.st/pdM
1. Follow the manual instructions in the post except just do it for the boot.img and flash that instead.
"fastboot flash boot boot_bumped.img"
If you choose option 2 then here's a link with instructions. (My phone is perma-locked so I never got to try this)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2601480 (Wish you luck if you try this)
If anything is unclear let me know.

LG Intuition root information
Hello to all, I receive my phone on monday, and im coming from a rooted/rom/oc'ed Samsung Infuse 4g, Xoom, SII, and countless cheap tablets all tweaked so I cant wait to get into the guts of this phone but first I need root. Im no dev or coder but definetly not a noob so hopefully somebody takes the file im gonna upload and see if it actually works. Searching by the Japanese name of Optimus Vu p895 I found a "one click'' root for the phone that im gonna post. They also claim to have the bootloader unlocked also to have a custom recovery like CWM but I havent found anything yet about that. I hope the dev's and rom guys get to this phone because to me it looks like the perfect pocket powerhouse imo.
THIS IS MEANT FOR DEV'S OR THE CURIOUS TO SEE IF IT WORKS. ANYTHING HAPPENS TO YOUR PHONE IS NOT MY FAULT.
This site was found by a simple google search, and the "super one-click" is meant for Android 2.3.5, hopefully one of you guys can make it work for 4.0.4 I dont get my phone til monday after thanksgiving so ill try it myself then.
the file is not uploading so the site is ninjaromeo . com /root-lg-optimus-vu-p895/
LG Intuition Root VIDEO Instruction

Thank You!

Yeah, no worries. How much do you know about development? I am not new to rooting, but I was so excited about removing bloatware that I removed a little too much and now I'm probably going to have send mine in for warranty. Any chance you know how to pull a system .img so I could reflash mine??? lol
I'll PM you just in case you dont see this.
Yeah I heard that if you remove a certain "bloatware " app it activates another verizon lock app, and once the phone is turned off it locks the phone up. I completly removed all verizon apps and the "lockout" so hopefully i wont have the that problem.
But ive flashed many other devices but i dont know how to put up the system image. It cant be that difficult, im gonna google and youtube it to find out how. I believe there is another thread on xda with the lg intuition system image also. But ill try to get that to you tonight if possible. One quick question....once you have the image how are you gonna flash it?, i thought the bootloader was locked, or is there a program like odin for LG?

Yeah, I'm luckily not locked out of the phone, but it would be nice to have a clean install. The boot loader is locked, and to my knowledge there is no Odin like program, but I was able to pull my .IMG a while ago. I'm hoping I can just push a clean .IMG, hard reset and call it good. I'll check when I get home to see if I can find how I did it.
Update: phone died...charged it up....turned on... received a security error. I deleted Verizon apps or something that triggered this. I returned the phone and within an hour rooted the new one without touching the Verizon apps.
This is not something new with LG phones I'm hearing. But if you go to developer options and turn on CPU stats it annoying to me that the phone is constantly sending messages to LG and Verizon servers and basically going ape**** in the background. So until the bootloader gets unlocked and a Rom is available I'm going with droidwall as a firewall and stock root. I wouldn't touch the Verizon apps or even quarantine IMO.

I finally got mine done. Went with a one click option that I found on youtube. It truly was a one click (well actually two) and it immediately gave me root priv. At any rate, download Titanium and then "freeze" the bloatware that you don't want. This way also prevents them from hogging cache and RAM. But, it doesn't trigger the commie Verizon bootloader locks. As of yet, ODIN does not support this device, but gooManager does. Haven't tried to flash yet, but it's downloaded and just sitting there....I'm afraid to pull the trigger. I wish I could remember the link...I typed "how to root android 4.0.4" and it was like the third or fourth option. I tried and tried and tried JCase's method, but got caught in the shell because it wouldn't verify lgroot.sh file was in place. It was. Looking forward to developing. Im in IT in college as a non-trad so expect a lot of questions you guys.

LG intuition Root 4.04 Help!
Can someone help me root my LG VS950 its been updated to 4.04 and I can't get it rooted using Bin4ry or Jcase suggestions so for... Others said it works with the 4.04 update, I just can't figure out what I may be doing wrong... when it gets to the reboot part and ask me to hit restore it starts and stops I about 5 seconds and nothing happens.. I added a pic of what it said when I tried to root using bin4ry method.. hopefully one of you can decipher this for me and help me find a solution...
P.S. and to be clear what USB connection type do I select (MTP, PTP, Internet Connection, or Charging) after I turn debugging mode on. and do I need to factory reset before I root?
Any other minor tid-bits would also be helpfull thanks..
Thanks in advance!
Here is how you fix it.
Power up the phone holding Power, Volume Up and Volume Down until Download Mode appears on the phone.
Connect the phone with the usb cable to the computer.
Use the LGMobile Support Tool and go to Customer Support -> Recovery Phone.
Follow the onscreen instructions from there.
This will download and reload your phone. Takes about 30 minutes total. All data will be lost.
Hopes this helps people.

Does this have anything to do with rooting the phone? Your response was @ no one in particular so i wanted to be sure before followed your directions
This is when you root it and you delete bloatware that it doesnt like. When the phone restarts and it shows that there is a Security Error, Can not find morningcall meaning a soft brick. The method that I gave gets your phone back up and running. It does wipe the phone so be prepared.
It shows the device connected and then I get an error when it is checking the information. It validates the esn, cell phone number, then right before it errors out it says its looking for LG PC-sync software. All drivers are installed. Any ideas?
I successfully got mine rooted but Bricked on restart due to Vz security software. I posted Step by Step restore in case of brick.

This method just does not want to work for me......I chose all rooting options and it keeps saying it can't mount, and file does not exist. I will try to post a screen shot when I get home but it is very similar to Peter Bishop but I am not even getting the prompt to add busy box, it says "confirm backup", "confirm restore", and then reboots and says it is done....but Root Checker says the device is not rooted. I am trying this on V31 of the root program.
Here is what is hangs on:

*OLD TUTORIAL*
Warning Just to let you know that this will Void your warranty you should already know that
Also this may look really long but its short just somewhat really specific
Hello Fellow Optimus L9 Users today I Bring you a tutorial on how to unlock bootloader the noob version for those who are new to rooting and stuff because there is another one that is more complicated and less specific but if you want to check it out heres
the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2198114
Okay First to let you know that when you flash V20B_00.kdz the screen will get kind
of funky everything will be inverted and backwards so dont worry. And one more thing is
that when you boot up every single time after doing this the boot will be mirrored. Just
to let you know.
First Just want to thank "pinoyto" "Lelus" and "cmahendra"
Okay Now to Start Download the zip containing the files link here https://www.dropbox.com/s/uxwvkkp8yyyev0k/Bootloader Unlock .zip Files contained
in the zip are "Adb" "Recovery image" "V6.bin" and "V20_00.bin"
After youve downloaded extract the files to a folder for later use.
Now before we go to flash the V20.kdz enable "usb debugging"
Now go flash the kdz with this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36351786
1)Now after you've flashed then comes the screen problem just unlock and go throught the setup quickly
2) Connect your usb and make sure the usb debbuging icon pop-ups the little spider looking thing if thats enabled good
3) Okay next im not really sure if its needed but just do it change the usb
entrance to "LG Software Mode" to do this the simple way you need to disconnect usb and
connect again after than the options appear what type of usb entrance click on the back arrow
and it should select the "LG Software Mode"
4) Now we want to connect to the WiFi THIS IS NECESSARY FOR IT TO WORK go and connect to it
after that make sure you are connected by opening the browser or youtube and if a page or
video loads your set now go make yourself a coffee or some thing because now you have to wait
30 or more minutes
5) Ok now that the 30 minutes or more have passed you need to go to the downloaded files and move
the "Android" folder to your "C:\" drive "dont worry just has adb files" now open a command prompt and
type the following
"cd c:\Android"
"adb devices" to make sure your phone is connected a list of numbers should appear
"adb reboot oem-unlock" and your phone should then reboot
then the lg logo will appear then a mirrored confirmation to unlock bootloader just press
the "Volume Up" button and it will confirm it then hold the power button until it reboots
6) Now we need to go to "rooted 10g" again just go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465
and follow every single instruction but when you are about to enter the flashing process instead
of "Emergency" mode you need to put it to "Diag" mode and then start the flashing process
7) After you are done with that you cant boot so you must perform a wipe and the way of doing that
is too have phone off hold "Power button + Volume Down + Home Button" then you should see
a android with the little globe and a loading bar after its done it will turn off then
now reboot and after it boot it will be mirrored you can fix that but in my opinion it is a little more confusing
because the screen is still messed up the whole left side is inverted with the right side but if you still want to remove the mirror
you must press the power button once to turn off screen then again to turn on and it will be fixed but the touch is still inverted
8) Now go through setup and enable usb debugging and then u need to go to the superuser app
and if you dont have it you did not do the root process correctly go to it again "and if you need help just pm me"
open the app and update the binary after that go to your computer and open command promt again
and enter the following commands but before you must put the v6.bin file to your external sd card it is in the downloaded files after you have put it to the root
of your external sd card enter the following commands
"cd c:\Android"
"adb shell"
"su" when you enter this go to your phone and accept the su request
"cat /sdcard/external_sd/v6.bin > /sys/devices/virtual/input/lge_touch/firmware"
after you entered the last command you need to close that command promt and open
another one and type the following commands
"cd c:\Android"
"adb shell"
"su"
"reboot" then it will reboot and the touch will corectly work remember the mirrored problem will continue
to occur on your phone like i said just turn off screen then turn it on and it will be fixed
Now you have unlocked bootloader
If you want to install the cm10 rom the optimus L9 has as of right now you
have to do the following
1) Go to the app store and search for the app called "Nandroid Manager ROOT"
download the app and open it then go to flash recovery you must first put the recovery from the downloaded file to the
root of you external sd card and then go to the app and search for the recovery and flash it.
After you flash it you will have a recovery on your phone
(just to let you know it will be mirrored) but to boot to recovery you must turn off the phone
and then hold the "Volume UP + Home Button + Power Button"
now go download the cm10 rom from here " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2216542 " put the file to the root of your sd card and then reboot to recovery and then to flash you will need to "wipe system, wipe cache, and wipe dalvik cache then flash" after you flash the zip reboot and you will have CM10 Hope This helped

No its never too late but there must be something you forgot to do or did incorrectly did you run "adb reboot oem-unlock" before connecting to wifi and waiting at least 30 min?

Just unlocked bootloader on my phone. Looks like having SIM card with data is a must. Tried all day yesterday on WiFi, never worked. Finally bought a SIM unlock code on eBay and used my StraightTalk SIM card. Reverted back v10G, set everything up (had to type APNs manually), turned WiFi off and verified that data works. Flashed v20B again, verified that WiFi is still off and data is on, waited for about half hour. Unlocked on the first try.
So whoever is having troubles, looks like you just need working SIM with data and WiFi it not really necessary.

I have straight talk tmobile sim with no apn setup and WiFi on for it to work for me.
I kept waiting 30 mins x3 because I had taken my sim and SD card out due to fear of damage. So I second that keep the sim in and WiFi on (made a guest ssid for one click connect).
@nevkuril do you have st att or tmo? If tmo, I know its late but the tmo sim works without the need for carrier unlock.

I recently installed CyanogenMod with the Unlock Bootloader for noobs and I noticed the internal SD wasn't mounted. So I tried to flash an ICS ROM to see if it would work but it didn't. I was stuck at the boot screen. I tried restoring an ICS CWM backup and a JB backup but it didn't work. Currently, I have a flashed JB backup with a messed up touchscreen (because of the way I unlocked the boot-loader). It won't boot and I don't know how I can install the stock ROM. I really just want my phone to work at this point. I don't know if there's any way to use the offline method to flash a .kdz since I can't access android. I tried hard resetting, but when I do it starts up Clock Work Mod which I believe happens because of the way I unlocked boot-loader.
I'm trying to use this guide to fix it using SW upgrade. I did find a .bin and .fls which i'm downloading right now.
If anyone could help or give some advice that would be great. I really just want to use my phone, I don't care about flashing a custom ROM right now. As long as my phone works, I'll be happy.

Let me know if this works for you! Also you can do the offline fix just as long as you can get into S/W Upgrade mode. But I am curious to see if you can use the bin/fls files tool that you mentioned to get your phone working again.

Well just get your phone into S/W Upgrade mode and follow this tutorial. Getting into S/W Upgrade:
1. Get stock ROM here.
2. Turn off your phone
3. Press and hold the vol + button while inserting USB to computer
4. Keep holding the vol + until you see the S/W upgrade mode
5. Flash ROM with tutorial mentioned above.
Good Luck!

Isn't that just an infobank of all the KDZs? I'm pretty new, but can you flash a kdz with the offline method? To clarify, I was asking how to flash the kdz with the offline method in S/W upgrade mode. So ROMs/KDZs are essentially the same, right?
Edit: I read everything over again and realized what KDZs really are. I'm just wondering now if I could just hard reset in some other way because the LG Update Tool doesn't recognize my phone even though I see all the drivers. It's stuck at 15%.
Edit 2: I tried the method I suggested and it resulted with "Magic number does not concide".
So I'm stuck here with a phone that is stuck in bootloop, and has CWM installed. Can anyone help?

alright, this is all from memory but the offline flash didnt work as well for me when stuck in weird bootloops.
Step one-going back to online flash---->
A---
the easiest way i found was to go to C:/windows/system32/drivers/ect/hosts
right click>open with notepad
there should be two lines at the bottom
"127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com
127.0.0.1 csmgdl.lgmobile.com"
i would cut them out and paste them in a text doc in the same folder for reference later...
but either way you should remove them from the hosts file and save
B----
Make sure your small server is closed! once you minimize it it should go down to your status bar (shttps)
Step two-LGMS---->
make sure you have LG mobile support installed or install it.
open lg mobile support
install needed drivers for your phone
power your phone off/remove the battery
put battery back in
connect it to your computer holding down the volume up button
S/W UPDATE mode should pop up, if it doesn't preform and hardreset and try again til it works (it will)
then in the top right corner there should be a button or two click them both until you see
"restore update" or Update restore or something to that effect
select that
and let it ride man
i got my phone ****ed many times and just had to keep redoing this until it worked. if your bootloader is truely unlocked you can probably go through all that again and get CM10 working, i did but im still working through kinks.....
GOOD LUCK feel free to ask any more Q's about this process if you run into any problems

Hello! Sorry for the late reply. Before I start, do you mean LG Mobile Support form when I unlocked the boot-loader, if not could you provide a link to it? And by the way, when I tried hard resetting, the phone sent me back to CWM, any ideas why?
I was reading the CM10.2 notes yesterday and I realized there isn't supposed to be an internal SD card showing up when you plug in your phone to your PC. So I did tried fixing what wasn't broke.
Anyway, thanks for the info!

Such a late reply, sorry! I did nothing. Before you replied I flashed CM10.2 but never bothered to boot up my phone. Preparing to connect my phone to my comp, I couldn't start CWM so I figured " I'll just leave my phone plugged in for a few hours." Two hours later, my phone has a blank screen, i'm thinking "This shouldn't be blank? What the hell?." I pressed the power button and was greeted with Cid. I screamed out loud: "**** yeah!"
If people have the same problem as me all I did was: Reflash my my phone with 10.1, stock, 10.1 again, and then 10.2. I did that, only that.
What's funny is that I never checked to see if my phone was working after I flashed CM10.2. :silly:
Can't wait for Kit-Kat. Thank you for keeping up with my post, CROSSFREEZE I appreciate it!

Hi everyone. I got a problem with my HTC M8.
First of all, I didn't make with it any changes (as unlock bootloader, root or installing any custom OS or recovery etc.) Week ago I left device, connected to PC for all night, and, I gess, with "bad" micro-USB cable.
Next day I couldn't boot this phone. I connected it to charger and after little time it was loaded to fastboot. But up today I can't do anything with phone: I can't unlock it, can't factory reset, can't boot to recovery etc...
I tried to find any same simptomes in google, but found nothing
As you can see on screenshots, I made steps for unlock bootloader but on device I didn't see notification about unlocking.
Is this an AT&T version M8? If so, try an RUU.
Other than that, if the phone stopped working spontaneously without being modded, I wouldn't then try to mod it by unlocking the bootloader. I don't see how the cable or leaving it plugged to computer can cause this. If the phone is defective and stock condition, your best bet may be to get warranty service (or exchange for new, if the phone is still very recently purchased).
I though that I lost recovery in some way and should simply unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and got success ))

Yes, but next day I connected another phone, Nexus 5, and it was fully discharged (connected to enabled PC with this cable). And I though that the reason the same... With one exeption - Nexus 5 just was charged and ok, HTC M8 - lost data or corrupted it in some way...
Warranty it's the last chance. Phone arrived from Canada) I'm from Ukraine. In all cases it will cost money. At first I want to find the solution by myself (and with help of xda community and internet)

Are you aware that stock recovery appears as a red triangle with exclamation? It doesn't look the same as custom recovery (TWRP, CWM). When you see the red triangle, press vol (down or up, can't remember) to see the recovery menu selections.
I asked if you have the AT&T version or not (this section is AT&T specific) and you never answered that.

It should be international.
About recovery - I tried to open it from fastboot. Ineffectually. And I tried to boot it with vol. and power buttons. I don't see any icons with exclamations - fastboot loads after black screen, no matter, buttons were pressed or not.

This forum section is specific to the US AT&T version. You would most likely get better help on the international forum (more users there).
Do you get the phone ID in response if you type the command: fastboot devices

Yes I have. And I can open menu "Barcode" from fastboot and see IMEI, SN and MB.
I think that is your serial number, so you should delete it (personal info).
I didn't actually want to know the output, I just wanted to make sure fastboot connectivity was working.
You might try to find the stock recovery for your CID and re-install it to see if that helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

My advice is to post to the international forum. Your situation is pretty unique, so I'd say it justifies a new thread. And there are a lot of folks on that forum section that are smarter than me, and may have some better ideas.

So I may have bricked my phone and need some serious help right now...
I was ready to flash October's monthly update. I had downloaded the factory image, and extracted everything from the factory image. I patched the magisk image and had it ready in the same directory. I edited the flash_all.bat script and removed the "-w" flag. I disabled all modules on magisk, and had got the phone to bootloader mode. I then ran the flash_all.bat script, and then for some reason the bootloader flashing failed. My phone now won't turn on and is a complete black screen. I need some major help here.
EDIT: My PC cannot see it on EITHER ADB or Fastboot devices
Can you boot manually into bootloader mode?
Cheers

How long are you holding it? I have found that it takes a *really long time* (like, a full minute) of holding that power button to get any response. But if still nothing, "black screen with no response" does sound like the "bad bootloader" brick. :x Might be fixable under warranty, I'm not sure.
.......I'm getting a feeling that I did the wrong device's bootloader and it failed. Now it's stuck....

May want to try to RMA it. Can't think of anything else. Sounds like it's pretty dead if it's not turning on and not recognizing anything.
What hurts hard is that I've taken exceptional care of this, like battery was still at 100%. Ugghh. Traded in my 4a 5G for this at launch.
Unfortunately , if you flash bootloader from another model.. you're f***d...
RMA only option

Well if you're willing I'm trying to start a small team for testing existing methods to unbricking.
I've come to the conclusion that all you need to talk to the phone is a USB c to 2.0 cable then hold vol up/dwn. This exposes the bootROM output and messages from the phone in serial output on COMM5, and if you're on Unix then it's on ttyACM0. Interestingly enough it's in Exynos downloading mode. The computer gives us the USB descriptor and a bulk in and bulk out endpoint.
I believe Exynos uses Syn/Ack/Dwn/Up
So an update, I took it today to a UBreakIFix location since here in Canada they're an authorized repair place. I fortunately still had 2 weeks warranty on it (of a year) so the repair is supposedly covered (they emailed Google and got authorization on it). After doing the diagnosis, they said the issue is with the motherboard or something (I'm assuming it flashed the wrong thing and bricked) so they had to replace it. They have the part in stock so I'm getting the phone back tomorrow. Hoping this gets everything back in place and repair holds up. Nothing was wrong with it otherwise, just hope their repair handiwork is good and all the pieces are placed correctly. I did lose all my data and messages though as I had been choosing not to save a number of things to my Google account (I had it on pause) so it will take quite a bit of time to just get it back to the way I like it. Also hoping that they don't then also prevent the bootloader from being unlocked, which I've read has happened after Google RMA's your device.
Thank you everyone. And @NonStickAtom785 , hope for all the best in your testing into unbricking methods and look forward to having you share your findings, in case for whatever reason others or hopefully NOT me runs into that situation.
