Help! I'm new to this whole Android world, and I tried downgrading my Moto E from 5.1 to 5.0.2 using a thread I found here. After attempting it (and failing), the process put my phone into a boot-loop, but I somehow managed to recover it to load normally. However, now my Wi-Fi is disabled and I can't get it to turn on at all. What did I do? Is there anything I can do to recover this? I did manage to get LTE on Straight Talk working again by using ADB. Thanks!!!

Did you try doing a factory data reset after you got it booted back up?
Also which towers are you using with straight talk. I'm using AT&T towers but haven't been able to get lte, just h+

Yes, I did the factory data reset, but that doesn't work. There's another thread here for downgrading from 5.1 to 5.0.2 -- I used the .bat file from that, but a few of the commands failed and I suppose that something got overwritten. I didn't realize at the time that the instructions weren't meant for the XT1528 Verizon model.
I'm using the T-Mobile SIM on ST. Looks like we're stuck in opposite situations...I've had no problems with the sticky thread that lists the ADB commands for utilizing the LTE Radio on 5.1.

now u have to flash latest stock rom made for ur model with fastboot method then ur wifi and netwok issue will be resolved....
and remember DO NOT TOUCH BOOTLOADER...
Curious, but why downgrade to 5.0.2? You can still use 5.1 on ST and GSM providers.

firmware.center has all the roms but it is under maintainance. Someone made a bat file used for flashing.
It works on any rom as long you are using any Moto E 2015 rom. I tried it on my XT1527 when the guide was based slightly around the XT1524, you also will need mfastboot which is fastboot made for motorola phones.

I was all prepared to root and unlock my bootloader with pudding and CWmod and then I read that no one is having success with the bootloader unlock on the new update 45.4.13.MB855.Sprint.en.US aka 2.3.5. I also saw somewhere (be it wrong or right) that the new update let you use USA sim's in the phone. IDK what to belive. I need this phone to work on tmobile today If anyone has any insight on how to do this please let me know!
Have not heard that about US sims working.

So is there some sort of master code or some crap that sprint or motorola can provide to unlock a device on Domestic Carriers? or am i wasting breath arguing with them about the fact that the phone is capable of working on other domestic service they just arent allowing the software to do it? I mean i know the photon is capable of it it has the hardware. I just dont have the software is there any other way of getting this to work hacked rooted or otherwise and/or bone stock out of the box. Im game for anything here If someone has the beta stuff to test on the new update by all means ill take part.

Uh craziest thing just occured!!!! I used the Torpedo root method using the adb shell. I then installed the bootstrap recovery console. I did a backup (thank google) and installed via bootstrap the v17 for locked of your 2.3.5 hybrid deblur (peetr_)....everything seemed to go according to plan. then i rebooted the device. It went into a boot loop at the M logo. finally i had no choice but to go into the motorola recovery console....i did a data reset there and it rebooted fine into YOUR ROM....except now I had no service whatsoever. OMG!!!!!! heart palpatations and sweaty palms ensued!!!!!!!!! oh no i bricked it aggghhhhh!!!!! BUT WAIT I can do an sbf via RSD to get it back from the dead RIGHT? RRRRRR!!!! WRONG ANSWER I had 2.3.5 the most current OTA out there isnt an sbf I've found for it......NOW WHAT WWWWWAAAAIIIIITTTTTT!!!!!! the bootstrap is an application that is coincedentily still on my memory chip!!!!! run bootstrap load up IT'S recovery console and thanks be to google there was my backup i had done at the beginning!!!!! it will work on tmobile (see this thread). The only problem is that most tmobile locations dont have 3G available on 1900mhz, so the photon will only work at 2G. Tmobile is making changes on their network (to be more iphone friendly), and hopes to have their entire network able to do 3G on 1900mhz within a yr.
As part of the company’s previously announced $4 billion network modernization effort, T-Mobile plans to launch 4G HSPA+ service in the 1900 MHz band in a large number of markets by the end of the year

I purchased my Photon a month and a half back: secondhand from the craiglist ad. for 170 USD in Tampa.
I immideately unlocked and rooted it and flashed KDDI radio since it was only tmobile pay as you go SIM I used for my short vist to US.
It did work on T-Mobile when I was to US: thanks to KDDI Radio - needless to say it was and still is 2.3.4 and I'm stick to it.

You only flashed my rom? I am not sure, how to activate carrier service on cdma. Maybe some *228? Do you have a sim card? Did you try to flash that kddi radio?
Btw I am glad, that you can read and did not try to flash any older sbf.
it is possible I did a bunch of them for people on craigslist in NYC and Philadelphia. I dont think they had the new OTA though. I have yet to get one with the new OTA.

Yes i only flashed your rom it looked and ran really nice except my Glitch I ran into with signal. I tried a series of those combos in the dialer nothing did anything for me.......I dont have the sim in front of me as of yet i will be attempting it this weekend.........I didnt try to flash the radio.
Are you saying i should just simply try leaving the stock root on and flashing just the KDDI radio from here through bootstrap and see if that will do the trick?
I try to make sure i collect all the data i can before attempting something and I have never personally used rsd to flash so i did some research....im glad i discovered that too!
Yes. I think you can try it and if you won't have any signal or want to go back to cdma, you can just flash 2.3.5sv2 254_12 radio.
But still be ready for the worst!

Generally speaking, newer radios provide better signal reliability and better signal strength. Again generally speaking. You would have to run it to see if you get that effect.
I've always had to play with radios on previous devices. Some seem to work better in some areas. According to my signal my 3g got better with these and my 4g got slightly worse. I have started finding dead spots with no 4g since when I had 4g jn that location previously. I'm wondering if the 4.4.2 release will have a tweaked signal to help with the radio or if it will be the same for me when I'm running 4.4.2

I have been getting the restricted access changed and lose all signal for a few seconds then It restores. I thought it may be the radio and changed to the 4.2.2 didn't fix it. So I'm off to Verizon for a new sim card don't know what else it could be.

There was a bug with Gsm/EDGE data connection in our 3g networks (at least Ukrainian): after use of wifi connection (when wifi is lost) - phone couldn't access cell data connection sometimes. To restore cell data connection we should switch to phone mode and back - it helps most of the time. 7/10 reproduction ratio - and it is boring, and even more - when you moved out of wifi zone, you could not notice that your phone has no connection anymore...

Carrier unlock?
Does this or any other solution exist to use another carrier outside US?
I am outside US and the Droid Maxx allows me to access data on local SIM here, but mobile network shows no service.
I tried that with two GSM carriers. 2G and 3G both work fine though.
Is there a way to unlock the carrier?

After spending an hour with VZ on chat, I came to the conclusion that since the phone was not activate on VZ before leaving US, the 'international use' was not activated.
Hence the phone has to be brought back to US for the activation and then it can be used internationally.
Isn't there some other firmware that I can install to get around this?

Tired,
If you are all ready UICC unlocked as the GT tools and SSU app doesn't work on lollipop. And you can get the older radio flashed it should work.
Some one reported upgrading to Lopllipop and keeping GSM.
See i tired that and i lost signal all together and then it went into a bootloop when searching for signal.

Thank you. Time to tinker again...haha
Yeah I'm gonna get this rooted and hopefully get some performance back after UPDATE: i rooted successfully but after i tried to fix the fingerprint sensor issue my phone would only boot to recovery and download mode so i flashed to stock
It turns out that when I flashed those files it kept trying to activate my phone on the sprint network instead of att and also it made my settings go wonky so I'm downloading the u firmware with the att product code again because it messed it all up
Just a heads up, I was unable to get the EngBoot Kernel working on this ROM. It would reboot on its own every 2-3 minutes. I spent about 6 hours on this until I gave up and flashed the ATT ROM and then EngBoot. That worked just fine (except for the performance issues).

Yes, A-12 has been released for the N200, but it may screw up your phone. I bought three of the unlocked US market 5g N200s due to the 3g phase out. Yesterday two of them updated to A-12 and now neither of them will work for voice /mms/sms. The phones detect a SIM installed but will not access the mobile network at all. I'm using Consumer Cellular which in turn uses At&T towers. Nothing I've tried makes any difference, can't even place a call on my brand new phones. OnePlus tech support is useless, their solution is send the devices to them for "repair" after their update broke my phones. After chatting with their rep I have 0% confidence they will actually do anything except keep my phone for a month or so and send it back in the same condition. According to their tech, no roll back tool exists for the unlocked variant.

THANK YOU for posting this!! My mom purchased an N200 for the exact same reason and after the A-12 update she's having the same issues with her device. All her voice, sms, and mms transmissions go through Cricket wireless (which also uses AT&T network) She contacted OnePlus customer service and they said they'd get back to her within 48 hours. It's now been 48 hours but with it being a weekend, she's hoping to hear back from them by Monday. She went to the Cricket store yesterday and they cleaned and tried a new SIM card to see if that might fix the issue but it didn't.
While it doesn't sound like there's any fix available yet, it's helpful knowing that this issue is affecting someone else using the AT&T carrier network. Hopefully between OnePlus and the AT&T wireless carriers they'll figure out a solution sooner rather than later.
Best of luck with your devices.

Yeah, I called OP three times got the same promise from OPs customer service and they never got back with me. I've never dealt with a less enthusiastic company when dealing with a serious product defect. The tech support people at first acted like the didn't believe me when I described the problem. Then once I had (I think) convinced them the problem was real, their response was like "oh well, too bad, so sad". OP offered no solutions or even ideas of what to try to do to fix the problem.
Do they test anything before pushing out an update?
I had a two day window left for returning the devices for a refund so now they're gone, and I'm gone as an OP customer, I can't just do without a phone while they fumble around trying to figure out the details for some (maybe) upcoming patch.
Good devices, terrible customer service. Never settle, nope, never again.

For those of you who want to downgrade from 12 to 11, use fastboot enhanced/payload dumper, boot fastbootd, delete all of the "my_" partitions, flash android 11 ROM zip (payload.bin button). Reboot bootloader, use the command fastboot -w to initiate a factory reset, reboot recovery and wipe data (this fixes mismatching metadata/userdata partitions) reboot device and voila you're on Android 11 again. Confirmed on my converted TMobile variant.
Also T-Mobile variant got official A12 OTA with the same C.15 build number.
And AT&T doesn't play nice with OnePlus, their new sim cards will not let you use a OnePlus device at all because they are unsupported.

Do you know where to download the A12(or at least the latest A11 update so I can update to A12 via OTA) stock firmware/update or could you upload it for the T-MO(metro) variant or show how to update OTA even when I unroot both slots the OTA still fails

I'll get the link scraped today. To fix OTA you have to reflash the stock build to restore avb (android verified boot / vbmeta verification). Without this being restored you can't flash OTA's using the normal methods. But once I get a link to the T-Mobile/metro update, you can use fastboot enhanced to manually upgrade like I did. I'll make a tutorial for the manual upgrade/downgrade process. I first have to downgrade from OxygenOS 12 to 11, then use the MSMtool to restore stock T-Mobile software. Easy stuff

On this build (metro/TMobile version converted. I can't keep android auto connected. I went into developer options and selected the default to transfer files/ android auto and all the other options but it just connects for a few and then disconnected and says device unsupported.
Rooted device and using a alpine iLX-w650

The link to the download is literally a https link in the logcat when downloading the OTA. In case you're wondering how to manually download the zip onto a computer, that is how to get the link. If anyone else beats me to sharing the link it would save me from having to downgrade to get the link for the T-Mobile variant myself
"adb logcat > logcat.txt"

So I get on computer and go on bootloader and type "adb logcat"?
Negative, while booted and after you start to download the android 12 OTA you can run the adb command to get the link while the OS is running.

I dirty flashed this (DE2118 T-Mobile/Metro) build over the leaked unlocked variant (DE2117) OxygenOS 12 build most are running and did not have to factory reset after flashing with Fastboot Enhanced.
My TMobile variant is now running the T-Mobile firmware. No downgrade required for that.
Downgrade process is download the android 11 build from OnePlus, boot fastbootd, use fastboot enhanced to delete all of the "my_" partitions, flash "payload bin" (full android 11 ota zip from OnePlus), make sure to tick ignore unknown partitions. After that is done shut the phone down and boot to fastboot/bootloader using the key combo, and flash the same payload again with ignore unknown partitions ticked. This will update the partitions that were inaccessible in fastbootd (such as modem). After this you will have to use a terminal with adb/fastboot to run "fastboot -w" this will wipe metadata(encryption key for userdata) and userdata. Reboot to recovery and perform factory reset there as well. After that you should be good to reboot to OxygenOS 11. To return to stock T-Mobile after that just use msmtool

Alright cool thanks for the download so just go to twrp/orangefox and install it or do I get on pc and flash it via adb? Does it have to only be fastboot enhanced?

PC and flash via fastbootd then again in fastboot after fastbootd. Fastboot enhanced is the easiest way to do it, otherwise you will need to fix custom recovery to support android 12 or use command line tools to unpack the oneplus ota file to manually flash each partition.

fastboot = bootloader
Fastbootd has access to more critical partitions and can be accessed by the command "fastboot reboot fastboot" at the bootloader or by hitting the "reboot to fastbootd" button in fastboot enhanced. Make sure to flash it in fastbootd BEFORE flashing it again in fastboot
