Hi all ,
quick question for the experienced , got an s3 and have been installing roms etc and working fine, however i paid a local shop to unlock stock rom 4.3, as they couldn't do it on a custom rom, so i flashed it back to stock with kies and its working perfect
my question is , i wanna flash to a custom rom(archidroid), but i worried that i may lose my carrier unlock , the shop used some kind of box to unlock it ??
so if i flash it , what should i not do and what should i do to not lose the carrier unlock , the phone is rooted and unlocked on stock 4.3,
any help would be greatly appreciated
The carrier unlock is permanent. You cannot relock it.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.

Hi fellas i am new to this forum n wanted to ask a question i even searched fr it but couldnt find the thread
I live in india and have bought imported T mobile G2 frm ebay n it says it is unlocked to work with all sim cards........
so does it mean that it is already rooted and i can directly install mocado roms
or i have to root it again to install htc firmware(the seller said that it has been imported from germany n was unlocked there using some meathod before shipping)
so pls help
pls help
The SIM lock has nothing to do with the "rooted" status of the phone - they are independent of one another.
If you need to root the phone and/or install custom ROMs, follow one of the many guides that are available.

thx bro n unlock is permanant??or is like iphone?
If you mean the SIM lock, yes if you unlock the phone it remains unlocked.
If you mean rooting (jailbreaking), then the answer is no. If you flash an unrooted ROM, you will lose root access on your phone and have to root again.

so aftr rooting i can also update my phone with official htc firmwares
n how modaco firmware is better thn htc's firmware
Hi everyone, I'm new to Android OS. I have Samsung Vibrant from Tmobile with Froyo (2.2) OS and Tmobile provided me an unlock code coz I'm using AT&T right now. I would like to do rooting and custom ROM, will I loose my unlock if I install a fresh custom ROM? Thanks in advance.
No you will not lose the unlock. I have installed Bionix and it's work like a charm.
Thanks for the quick reply
No you will not. I've flashed my phone with a custom rom and i still have my unlock.
I bought an un-subsidized HOX+ from at&t and then moved back to egypt
I'm waiting for a friend there that is going to send me an unlock code or a number to call so i can unlock - i didn't quite get this part but that is what he told me
My question is what will happen if i opened my device
And if i opened it could i root and unlock bootloader and intall any custom rom and work normally or is the unlocking part is really important
Thanks in advance
hey everyone, I don't post much but I read a lot and I appreciate everyone's work. I have a quick question regarding my tmobile galaxy s5. I bought it and unlocked it to use on AT&T because it has the unlocked bootloader. I installed twirp, remove some bloatware, and it's been great. I want to remove twirp but I believe that flashing the stock rom is the only option. Is this true? I have the stock image and can flash it via Odin I'm just curious as to whether it will remove the carrier unlock. of course I paid for the unlock code and I don't want to do it again. I would like to sell this phone with it being unlocked because that widens the market. so does anyone know how I can unroot this phone other than flashing the stock image, and if that's the only way after I do it will the carrier unlock still be there?

Galaxy tab pro 8.4
You will keep the unlock. You can easily find the stock recovery files as well. That way you don't lose all of your stuff with a full Odin flash.
..I was already told by a friend in xda group that if I again flash a stock rom in my sm-900p phone which I got unlocked for international GSM use (using from India) , it won't get locked again ...with all due respect to the friend who affirmed me already that it won't get locked ,can anyone else confirm that to me please ? I am not able to dare to flash the stock rom....since two days I am just waiting to take that step..presently I am using darkwolf rom but I want to flash with stock rom so that bootloader and modem gets updated and then on that version,I will flash this rom again ..that's my plan
It will not relock for international use. If it does for some reason, you can use Galaxy Tools to unlock again, assuming you root. But if it was originally unlocked either officially with Sprint or via root + Galaxy Tools, then it won't relock. If you were in the US, you would have to change some other settings to re-enable domestic unlock but international sticks.
