Is audio quality good with headphones plugged? Gsmarena review says its very bad
Dayum someone asked i was gonna ask the same ques not that bad they are quite good but doesnt reached my expectation

its not terrible...quality isnt the best, volume is decent.
its louder than my 6p.
I ve seen the review of the OPX long before buying the phone. Mainly because the eat horse**** most of the times. The quality depends on the headset you use. Before the OPX I have used a Z3 Compact which wasn t that good on the sound area(but look on gsmarena and see what they say about this). I think in two or three months we will have a bugfree software and a great battery life.

Everyone knows the One has great sound. Since I don't know anyone who currently owns the One and don't think I can get a real feel in-store, can current owners give me a comparative opinion?
My frames of reference are the Galaxy Note 10.1 stereo speakers and the Nokia N8.
Thanks!
I had the nexus 10, which I think was supposed to have the same speakers as the galaxy note series.
The One's speakers are much fuller in terms of range and soundstage. Highs are higher and lows are deeper.
The only positive aspect of the N10/Note's speakers were that they were front spacing, quality wise they were relatively crappy-sounding.
I'm very pleased with the speakers, I will admit I thought they would be a little louder but the sound quality is impressive. If you disable beats the volume is a little greater Imo. I'd try to find a demo unit and mess with it.

They're almost obnoxiously loud, but the quality is amazing. I don't want another phone with rear speakers.

They won't replace any headsets or speaker docks, but they have brought built in speakers from hideous to surprisingly acceptable. They're magnitudes better than the very very low bar that is the norm.

Agreed... I have to keep my ringer to half or so in the house because of the volume but I wouldn't have it any other way...
It blows away the Note 10.1, Nexus 10 speakers

I had to get a new alarm clock that slowly increases the volume of the alarm over 5 minutes. The standard alarm on the One scared the crap out of me in the morning on two occasions.
I agree with the others. The sound is loud but also clear. My GS3 speaker would get loud but that was only if it was facing away from you or if the sound was reflecting off of something. While it was loud it sounded really distorted. The speakers on the One are loud and don't sound like a teeny tiny cellphone speaker. They sound like decent laptop speakers.

Is amazing how good and crisp they sound. One of those things that you think is overhyped marketing.....and when you see it in action you don't want to get another phone with rear speaker. Crisp. Clear. If music played has stereo quality it comes out as it should. Obviously, these are small speakers, but for the size it's amazing.
I use my One to play music for my office floor. Rameses b. Not bad stuff. Check him out.
Excellent speakers.

I love the speakers, they are loud, but not overbearing, the quality is much better than most others phones I have heard. Im happy I dont have to cup my hand behind the phone anymore just to hear the sound when im watching a youtube video. all in all, I think its the fact that the speakers are in front instead of on the back, it makes for a better user experience IMO.:good:
My 2 year old can finally listen to "wheels on the bus" in stereo quality, praise the Lord!

Good day expert,
I love Sony Xperia Ultra Z. But I found out that Xperia Z Ultra can't perform a good phone function especially the speaker. The sound produced from the speaker is really low and unclear especially during phone call. This doesn't help even I have put it to loudspeaker. I have adjusted the volume control to max. I barely listen clearly the others party conversation. I feel shame.
I even tried the setting of (Normal, Bright, ..., slow talk) but it doesn't help. I confirmed it is not my Z Ultra defect as I checked others Z Ultra at retail store. All have the same poor and low sound output from the speaker.
How to really enjoy such a great phone if the sound produced is not loud and clear?
The sound really not acceptable (blur and poor volume output).
Seeking for help from SONY and experts.
Here is how I've ranked the audio (headphones) performance:
1)Nokia Phones (N9/Lumia)
2) HTC One X
3) iPhone 4s
4) Xperia Z Ultra
in regards to speaker output, i believe because of its placement vs. HTC OneX, for me its an improvement
I hope there are mods to increase the stock speaker volume as well as beats audio algorithms for music because its lacking right now!
only dumb people can talk about poor sound from external dynamic on water proof devices. Sorry but I'm sick and tired of threads like this.
Sound through headphones is beautiful and very audiophiliac with ClearAudio+ (enable)
Try to change your build prop at system and see what happen. You can search for xda forum to see how to change your build prop for increase device volume.
But first you need to rooted device.
I tried, now better than earlier. And remember don't too loud

the sound is very very very low

You should have researched well before buying. Almost all reviews noted that the 2 weaknesses of the ultra are speaker volume and lack of flash. Most of us knew this and bought it, as this is truly a great device.

I don't really know why so many people complain about it. It's pretty par for the course in terms of tiny "external" speakers. Fairly tinny, but loud enough to be too loud in a quiet room. Note that the volume drops by a large amount after submerging the device in water. You need to wait for the speaker grille to purge itself of liquid before the volume returns.

I agree with you 100%. I have no idea how anyone can complain about the audio quality.
The audio quality on my Ultra is great. The in-call volume is sufficient and the sound is perfectly good both on both sides.
I just don't care about the speakers too much since I use headphones. I wouldn't even think about the idea of using a phone as a "stereo" by playing music through its speakers.
The audio quality through headphones is great too. I certainly agree that it provides high quality even for "mobile audiophile use".

I do hope the Bluetooth Headset (is it SBH52?) can keep up with the Good quality Audio... I don't want to plug in my headphones directly on the phone since the earphone jack's placement is awkward if you ask me.. It would be better if it was placed on the top edge and not on the side.
I use wired headphones, bluetooth headphones and headsets and stream audio bluetooth in my car. I don't really need or actually think that a phone's speakers are all that important so I am glad to have efforts focused elsewhere. I'd get a Jawbone Jambox or something similiar if I really needed good audio from speakers on the go.
I have a friend who has an HTC One and I agree they are the best speakers I have heard on a smartphone but I still think they are pretty crappy. I appreciate the speakers on my Nexus 10 but again I think it is a waste of time ever expecting good speakers on a small and slim device.
Errrr....
OP is talking mainly about earpiece volume. Maybe his choice of words is not brilliant but my god, people here need to read before jumping on him thinking he is complaining about loudspeaker.

Well, I got that he was talking about the earpiece volume, but it also seemed he was saying that switching to the loud speaker didn't help either and I guess the thread evolved from there.
Anyway, a headset of some description should help in either case.
You're right though a couple of people did jump on him a bit harshly but it is pretty normal for people to get defensive about their devices.

I dont mind the sound, but make sure your ear is over the speaker on top. Its a big phone if you go to the right or left it will sound muffled. Maybe you are already doing this but if not try it. Night and day for me.
Nio doubt quality is great but speaker sound is not sufficient, atleast you guys agree on this despite the fact it is waterproof or what ever!!!!!!!

Only dumb people (or an average mature 6th grader) call other people dumb when they hear an opinion they don't like.
If the OP doesnt like the sound he doesn't like it. If you dont like a thread, here's a thought: stay the hell out of it.

sorry for my bad english
i found a thread on another forum about a spanish guy who bought an idol 3 (5'5) , when he unboxed the package he realized that the headphones looked cheaper, here is a picture
http ://i.imgur.com/d2cyvYK.jpg
i mean, the headphones are different than these ones
http ://i.imgur.com/NfTHreN.jpg
the guy also said that headphones sound is really dissapointing
what headphones do you have ? and what model is your idol? (for example in my country is 6045l)
EDIT: i can't post outside links, so please remove the space
In Canada, we don't get any headphones with the 6045L
sent from a phone running a ROM
JBL headphone, great quality, with 6045Y
black headphones from idol 3. too much bass from them. poor plastic quality. i sold them very quickly. i don't say they are bad. i just got other so i don't want that they lie in a box.
They are defenitely cheaper than the first version. I got those too, and trust me - their sound is mediocre. However it gets alot better if you disable the JBL sound option. If you do that and plug in a good pair of cans the sound is top notch. And if you want even better sound install CM 12.1.

And don't forget about Viper4Android, that thing makes magic
Having bought four Idol 3/5.5 (6045Y) for my family, I got both versions of those headphones. I find the "cheaper looking" version much better (without the JBL sound option) than the ones on your second picture (the initial version in fact) . This said, both are really sh1tty, compared to my good old Panasonic RP-HJE120 which only lack a microphone. Now, why TCL/Alcatel chose to ship those sh1tty JBL-branded earphones with such a great phone remains a mistery to me, especially when you see the price of my good old Panasonc ones.

I suggest giving the kernel that @freeza developed a try. Then report DAC Noise.
Usually AA does good articles. Article is good but can't trust the number. Axon 7 having the worst dac??? Galaxy s7 beating it quality wise? Impossible. I came from an s7 and that thing sounded horrendous. My hugest dislike was its poor quality sound from speaker and headphones.

Haha I'm in wireless sales have used every high end phone... This is bs sorry.. I own the Moto Z Force as well as the A7... I can tell you from being on my 2nd Moto Z that this is absolute nonsense... The Moto ZF worst sound quality ever S7,S7e haha
https://youtu.be/dTsg7EyYKFM somebody make a mistake. Pocketnow or Android Authority? Pocket now clearly present at https://youtu.be/dTsg7EyYKFM?t=406 that Axon7 have -105.1Db, better than LG V10, so.... and the graphics are clear presented not only numbers.
Can't agree to that test. I'm running Firmware B08 and now B09. I would say it sounds like my LG V10 witch brings a little more Volt on Headphone output.
Way better than the Samsung S7 Edge. A least with Audio DAC enabled. Even Dolby Atmos sounds better than Samsung. When you listen to the Snapdragon DAC sucks like Samsung.
I read this as measured outputs and not actual quality. I wonder if they actually listened to any music, at all.

The problem is like on the Beoplay H6 1st edition. They sound pretty good but a lot Smartphones can't drive them properly. Still sounds really good but sometimes you like to hear a song louder and for that you need the build in amp with more than 1 Volt. And 0,5 Volt isn't enough for that.
Pixel louder then axon? Ummm no

Hello guys I am planning to buy a new headphone.
So can you tell me which one is better JBL C100SI or boat bassheads 225???
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
I have recently ordered Boat 225... I will give an update about that after I receive the product...
Boat 225 has high bass while JBL C100SI is more balanced. Matter of personal choice. I had same question few weeks back and finally settled with JBL C100SI.
I have boat bassheads 225 and gotta admit their built quality is top notch. They are metal so a bit heavy but stay in ear with the help of accesories. Bass is the best thing about them
Sent from my LenovoA3300-GV using Tapatalk
I received it yesterday and checked it with different phones... Generally the bass is great with this earphone...But on miui with mi sound enhancer enabled, the bass level is great... don't know about any custom sound mod... The mic works perfect...I tested it during call and sound recording...And there was no background noises...
The only problem i am facing is that it doesn't fit in my ear...At first even with the accessories it wasn't fitting (or you can say I couldn't make it stay in my ear) at first...But after some time it fits...But after using for some time it hurts (also happened to me with Sony Bluetooth headphone). Maybe because of the accessories... Maybe my ear is different than the makers of this headphone as this happened to me with other headphones too... xD
Anyway the product is good... You can give it a try...
