Hello everyone. So I'm running blekota note 4 on my Samsung GALAXY SIII GT-i9300, since 3/4 months I guess. Now it's getting really slow to the point where even when there's incoming calls I hear the ring tone but my screen gets stuck. I'm thinking of wiping data / factory reset from CWM recovery. Can I wipe data from the recovery without losing my root, my custom rom and boeffla kernel ? Plus, will this help?
And I wanted to ask one more thing, pardon me if I sound dumb but, is dn4 and blekota note 4 the one and same thing or are these 2 different?
I tried searching for this stuff but I was a bit skeptical and wanted a clear cut answer. The last thing I want is a bricked phone.
(I love blekota note 4 and I want to stick by it)
Regards.

A wipe data wipes the data partition, kernel has its own other partition and so as system aka the rom(root also resides there) so you'll lose nothing except your data..... And about the roms well you should search/read/ask on the thread/forum

Hi.
I have "Project-V" rom for 1 year (I know its a lot of time )
I got new phone and I want to give my wife this phone.
As the phone is now little "Buggy" and I need to change everything include change the Gmail account on the phone so I decided that it will be better to just install new ROM.
I need rom fast and stable (gps etc... ) and people recommended to me for "BIONIX"
I know what is the installation process but is it better to revert to stock first before flash this rom?
Thanks.
No, you do not have to revert to stock before you flash because you are going from one 2.2 ROM to another. Just remember to wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache, etc.

You definitely don't have to, but it certainly couldn't hurt lol
no
No is the short answer but it never hurts especially if you are having issues. Also the xerxesI Rom with phone candy theme wad pretty nice!
hi,
No you don't need to go back to stock ..but as Xenoism said it certainly couldn't hurt. Make sure to wipe data/ factory reset, wipe cache and dalvik

I have paranoid 3. Couple of questions. Which combo and version should I download if I want to update my paranoid? How do I found out exactly what version I have?
My biggest issue is that GPS doesn't lock. Any solutions?
If I wanted to try another ROM via teamwin, will it wipe out the existing data on the phone?
Do excuse me I am a novice with rooting and ROM's (but I did succeed in do it a couple months ago!)

As for your combos, that's a personal preference. You can look under settings>about phone to see what you are running at any given time.
GPS lock is a known issue across Note II roms because of the libs from different phones.
Wiping data yourself will wipe your internal sdcard. But rom data is deleted when you factory reset.
Well This has happened to me since Galaxy Nexus I515 (Verizon). I basically I do a clean Flash to the original android roms. For a while it works fine, out of no where System UI Crashes, and it is never able to recover until i wipe everything. This isnt the first time i do not know if it is coincidence, but it happened to me since the Galaxy Nexus.
used Droid Bionic first and never had this problem. I got the nexus because my bionic broke. on the beginning of the Nexus i that didnt happened, but after one rom (I forgot which one, but i got it from here[XDA forum] ) I've flashed this started to occur to every rom.
this is happening again with my Galaxy S4.
Any suggestions?
Here is what I do before flashing
using TWRP
1. Factory reset
2. Cache reset
3 system wipe
4 dalvik Cache wipe
5. flash rom
6. dalvik/Cache wipe
Please let me know if I am doing something wrong

I got a new phone and my old Galaxy S3 is just destroyed (Software wise) and now I just wanna fix it...the problem is that one time I was updating my Cyanogenmod ROM and the Audio on my phone disappeared I can't play music/videos any thing and then I came back to my old update and the problem stayed with the phone[emoji21] then I tried to flash a TouchWiz ROM the the Audio problem gone and another problem came[emoji20] the Sim card and the WI-FI now is missed up... at this point I'm stuck in a loop : Flashing stock ROMs like Cyanogenmod and liquid smoothe gonna miss up the audio and flashing a TouchWiz ROM gonna miss up the WI-FI and the Sim card.
Any one knows what to do?
Thanks for your time! [emoji2]

Do a full wipe, internal sd, cache, dalvic, preload, data and system before flashing latest stock rom with Odin.
Factory reset again in recovery before first boot.
Thanks for the reply!
I did all that but why should I use Odin instead of cwm and one more question what is "preload"

Hello,
I'd like to know when to do a full reset over the recovery when installing new ROMS or downgrading / upgrading a specific rom. I'm a Samsung Galaxy S5 user and I'm not sure when to do these steps. Some ppl say I have to wipe before I install the Firmware and others say I have to do a wipe after I've flashed the firmware.
So, what do you think and why?

hello,
The way this works are actually multiple things, and you should be very carefull not to be switching them around. There are multiple wipe possibilities.
Dalvik cache / Data, Where certain app data is stored. This is almost always wiped when doing a major version or rom update, like from cyanogenmod 11 to 12.
System, This is where the actual rom is stored, when switching roms this is usually done automatically by the installer. BE CAREFULL when wiping this, as it could brick your device if you don't know what you are doing.
some other things can also be wiped, but are not nessesairy most of the time.
Most guides for installing roms etc. explain pretty good what needs to be wiped in order for the rom to work. can I ask what you need to wipe something for?
I hope this helps a little, you can always message me and I will gladly help you.

I use the Galaxy S5 Knox 0x0 ROM for example. I won't use any other custom Roms like CM or such. I'm just confused about wiping because every thread says different methods or ways to wipe. In one thread it is recommend to wipe the phone before the installation of the rom and in another thread ppl say you have to wipe after the installation of the rom.
Installation: Downgrading from Lollipop to Kitkat 4.4.2 for TowelRoot.

So you are now installing Knox 0x0 kitkat over lollipop?
In that case follow normal instructions for installing kitkat.
1. Reboot into recovery
2. Install Kitkat
3. wipe data and dalvik (YOU WILL LOSE ALL YOUR APPS)
4. Restart
If this doesnt work, or results in a bootloop, try again, but this time before flashing kitkat wipe system.
hopefully this helps
