Hi all,
I use an app called Battery Monitor Widget to log battery statistics. It has a feature that displays charging/discharging current in real-time, but this feature always shows 0 on my Redmi Note 2 Prime.
I asked the developer about it and he (promptly) replied that this phone doesn't have a current sensor. Can anyone confirm? How can a phone not have a current sensor? Can't find this info anywhere
Thanks.
Try GSam Battery Monitor, for me its show around 1400 mw when charging

Where does it show mw for you? I don't see it anywhere.
I think you're looking for Ampere. Search for it on the Play Store.

Thanks, I tried it with all the measurement methods but it still does not display mA.
Maybe it's true that this device doesn't have a current sensor, either that or ROM (xiaomi.eu 5.10.16) can't read current data?

Shows 1460 mA for me on xiaomi.eu 5.11.26.
Well it looks like there are hard-coded values depending on battery state. I flashed 5.11.26 and the behavior is identical.
Code:
[email protected]:/ $ cat /sys/class/power_supply/battery/uevent
at /sys/class/power_supply/battery/uevent <
POWER_SUPPLY_NAME=battery
POWER_SUPPLY_STATUS=Charging
POWER_SUPPLY_HEALTH=Good

POWER_SUPPLY_TECHNOLOGY=Li-ion
POWER_SUPPLY_CAPACITY=21
POWER_SUPPLY_BATT_VOL=3797
POWER_SUPPLY_BATT_TEMP=300

POWER_SUPPLY_ADJUST_POWER=-1
POWER_SUPPLY_CHARGE_FULL_DESIGN=3020000
POWER_SUPPLY_CURRENT_MAX=500
POWER_SUPPLY_CURRENT_NOW=515
POWER_SUPPLY_CURRENT_NOW changes depending on battery state: 0 if discharging, 515 if charging on USB, 1458 if charging on AC (fast charge).
I guess this is a hardware limitation. Thanks all for the help.

Any idea what's up with this? Surely this isn't meant to happen. I don't even use google maps, don't think I've even opened it ever.

EDIT: Saw that there was an update pending. Installing, will report what happens.
Mine is almost always 90% display, even though I have all of the power saving options set on my Mesmerize... My battery lasts maybe 8-9 hours, but usually more like 6-7. It's terrible. Any ideas?
Its a known bug, install autostart from market and desible the autostart option for google maps. Try this and you will get a lot more battery.

sorry to revive and thread. I installed autostart, but not sure exactly how to disable the google maps or other apps. Any clue or pointers?
TIA.
Try using titanium backup (free) and freeze google maps or , if you don't use it, delete it using the same.

Whoa. Do you have the touchscreen bug fix kernel applied? Because without that CPU usage on touching the screen is way too high and that would cause a lot more battery usage. 90% is still too much though.
And yeah, I updated to the latest version and it doesn't seem to be doing any weird stuff now. I'll keep a watch over the course of the day.
this is a bug that is stated somewhere in the thread.. either Cyanmod7 or Gingerbread. both have these problems.
Calibrate your battery when you think
it's miscalibrated.
Requirements: Android 2.1+ | Root
permissions
Calibration needs to be done after
flashing a new ROM, but you can
calibrate any time you think your
battery is miscalibrated. This program
does it by removing the
batterystats.bin system file. The OS
generates a new clean batterystats file
soon, thus any fake information from
the previous ROM is removed.
It's suggested, but not necessary, to
let the phone fully discharge after
calibration, then charged to 100%
without break.
The app shows your actual battery
status, and only allows you to start the
calibration (i.e. removes the file) when
it's fully charged, unless you force
earlier calibration.
The voltage meter can be useful too.
Full charge is around 4200mV.
There is an option to beep when
100% is reached so you don't have to
closley follow the changes.

Well then its ok
If it had 1% support in roms having a kernel supporting it then it would be great

Great App
My battery life has always been great; usually around 30% remaining when I go to bed.
Just in the last few days however I noticed it draining very fast with minimal usage.
Tonight, I'm down to 65% after just 4 hours (25mins screen on with lowest brightness and about 6 text massages, 20 what's app messages recieved, 1 missed call)
I have a CONSTANT wakelock mostly from *network-location-cell-update*, please see the screen shots.

The only thing I've done differenty recently is switch from Launcher Pro to Go Launcher (since changed back due to battery issue) and installed a few games from the Humble Bundle.
Latitude is always switched off and I have no facebook, twitter or push email.
Although *network-location-cell-update* seems to have a huge wakelock, it looks liek it's only used 4% of the total battery....
I'm really confused!
probably been answered somewhere else but try switiching off "use wireless networks" in location and secruity
I always used to leave that switched on with no problems; however because of this problem I have switched it off the last few days and it doesn;t resolve anything.
I don;t understand how this issue can just crop up out of no where...
Do you use latitude? Turn it off it's a battery killer. I think i've seen that exact same wakelock while using latitude.

Hi, i have some problems with this process, in battery use from settings, the android OS has a BIG BATTERY DRAIN, this works since the phone is unplugged, and my phone haven`t deep sleep, i lose 2-3% percent per hour in better battery stats the phone is awake ALL TIME and CPU SPY show me the lowest frequency is 384mhz and deep sleep doesn`t exist HELP ME PLEASE
Have you tried turning off all non-important services and sync , and see if that helps ??
Also there are some after market applications available on play-store that prevents such wake ups , by killing them. I couldn't recall them properly but I think they are named as Deep Sleep battery saver or something similar.
You can also use android tuner , to see what are the causes behind that.(Task manager has extensive features to look and control them.)
i havent active services (auto sync off,facebook notifications off, messenger off, gps off, google location off, etc), so i dont know what happen ill try to post some screen of my battery uses, this may help, thanks man! and sorry for my english
try some app like android tuner , it'll tell you which specific process is keeping it alive . It'l give more detailed insights into the running tasks.

Anyones knows what happen with my battery???
Can't say about it just by looking at these charts . You'' have to use some third party tool that provides monitoring of system processes . It'll give some info.

Please help!!!
No apps seems to eat the battery. I have taken all measures to tweak the settings to lessen the discharge but nothing seems to work...I'll be relieved if it's a bug.
Thanks in advance.

You are not being very informative.
Which ROM and which kernel are you using?
Thanks for replying

Miui 11 official rom battery eating so fast,,, goto app uninstall theme , security etc all mi default app,,, mean all app update ,,, also logout mi account n setting search bar revoked then disable (msa ) option then again logging to you mi account , goto wifi additional setting trun off always scan .aslo sync of you Google or mi account. Also background app ristric find in setting/app manger/ click on any app like compass/battery saver ristric background activity. Also disable wifi / data , if you not need but if you want notification you dont do this whatsapp hangout , etc only select silen apps calculator,compass your default browser if you not like it. Service & feed, mi pay, consol wallpaper deactivate, lose battery n data, gps also off
While it could be a software/settings problem I doubt it. This device is very old and most likey the battery is ready to be replaced. Replacement of battery is an easy task and can be done quickly. If you decide to do it yourself make sure you have double sided tape to secure new battery.
