Hi, I bought a HTC one M8 32gb on ebay a few days ago. I check on imeidata and it said it has AT&T version. When i turn ON the device the display has some problems. You can check this video i made:
dropbox. [dot] com/s/dl2rffa7r47h6uh/VID_20151127_180310.mp4?dl=0
I thought it has problems with the ROM (AT&T RUU), and since it already came S-OFF, i decided to install ViperOne AT&T custom rom. But the problem remains. I don't know which could be. Any help?
(sorry for my bad english)
It have bootloader unlocked and S-OFF.
(I installed twrp-2.8.7.0-m8 , UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46 and ViperOneM8+4.6.1)

I am bit intimidated here. Only started using Hero for a week. Used to serial flasher of Windows mobile. Anyway,
I have a G2 with ROM version 1.76; I just wondered if I would be able to flash the new 2.73 ROM (official) on G2. When I insert the my serial number on the HTC website, it says the this ROM is not suitable for my device. I guess it is because it was intended for unbranded Hero. I have downloaded the ROM from XDA. Can I just run it flash it on G2..? Is there any precautions I need to take. HTC may release a new ROM for Tmobile G2. Bur I dont have the patience to wait. Any info will be highly appreciated.
Regards
Anyone tried this..? Or will I brick my phone..?
To be honest, if you're not going to install a custom ROM, you probably might as well wait until the T-Mobile release of the ROM. I doubt it will be long now, and it will just make the process a "little" easier and you'll have less issues if you end up having to send the phone back under warranty.
For what it's worth, I flashed my G2 with Modacos ROM without issue (currently at 2.2 as it seems 2.3 has more issues).
Regards,
Dave
Thanks for your reply. I am not planning to install any custom ROMs yet. But I would like to try the official ROM. Do u think it would be problem if I upgrade with generic 2.73 ROM..?
Another issue is, I cannot sync with HTC sync. I am using vista Home premium. Phone says it cannot detect HTC sync on computer. I tried turning off the Frewall and antivirus. Any ideas..?
You won't break anything. I downloaded the "official" 2.73 ROM from Modaco and it's running fine on my T-Mobile G2.
I phoned tech support about this in the UK and after a long and heated argument got the guy to actually give me the information. He said that the Update for the T-mobile version of the Hero would be released on the 1st November. This is really poor work, especially as Orange have managed it in about a week.
According to the Official T-Mobile UK forum they are 'hoping' to get it released this week.
Also try updating HTC Sync. The version on the HTC support site is a later version than the one on the memory card. You might find it works better.
Hello. I have just received a new G2 (aka Hero) on T-mobile UK.
I am planning on doing this, please can you tell me if this would work:
1.Installing a recovery image
2.Booting into recovery and making a Nandroid backup
3.Installing a generic HTC Rom which has been packed into update.zip NB.Rom is a stock rom and therefore not rooted
As I understand after flashing I would lose rooting and would need to root again if I need to. However, I don't need to so am not too bothered.
I am hoping that this would remove T-Mobile branding, but mainly make the phone quicker as it is running the latest ROM. Would this technique work?
I would also like to know wether my sim-lock status would be affected?
Also if Donut/Android 1.6 is released OTA by HTC would my phone update OTA?
Finally, does that mean once I have flashed it, I will not be able to access the recovery partition thing which includes Nandroid etc.?
Please answer my questions and comment if you have any reservations/concerns about this. All comments are much appreciated.
bump-please help
Bit previous with the bump after such a sort time??
To answer your questions:
First of all, as long as your G2 still has the original Hero firmware, you are probably ok with your plan. If you've got the latest firmware, you'll probably have to use the gold card technique.
If you install a generic ROM, you'll lose most the T-Mobile branding, but to be honest there was very little anyway. The T-Mobile splash screen when you switch on will remain though.
SIM-lock has nothing to do with your ROM - it was locked before it will still be locked after you update the ROM, and vice versa.
Finally, on the subject of an OTA, who knows???!!! I really wouldn't worry about it.

Dave
Thanks Dave. Does anyone else have anything to say?
new user, similar question.
got myself a T-mobile G2 yesterday, thinking that it's the same thing as HTC Hero. ok, it's only a software difference but now i'm unable to flash it.
software version is 2.73.116.61 which is T-mobile version of course, and comparing version numbers to recent ones it looks really outdated. is it? on T-mobile UK support pages it's even older one. tried to download official version but HTC says there is no support for my device, based on serial number. also tried to flash with newest downloaded from here but no luck, got error 131
so, what can I do? root or goldcard?
thanx
You will need to goldcard to downgrade your ROM, before you'll be able to "upgrade" it to a custom ROM.

Dave

Debranding Optimus Hero (ORANGE)
Hi everyone.
I am an Android rookie, but i am trying to learn more and more each day.
I bought recently a HTC Hero from optimus operator (Portugal) - Orange - and it came with 1.5 version of the OS. There is original 2.1 version but not for my operator.
I already made an goldcard for it, removed simlock, and rooted but now i would like to know step by step what to do?
what rom (original and generic) should i install to have 2.1?
How to do it, with goldcard inside cellphone?
It is possible to go back?
I have read in Q&A that some orange phones, whem the debranding is done, loose the network due to some radio network imcompabilities... how can i know if that is or is not my case?
I would be greatful for all the help someone could give me.
Many thanks
D_Saint
Look at the guides in the android development section of how to root. If the phone is running a very old firmware the likelyhood is that you won't need to downgrade and therefore may not need a goldcard. But basically, you need to root and install a recovery image then you can flash a rom from the hero development section.
EDIT: See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=645253
I have a few questions for you. I am new to all this (Android), so if you can please bear with me.
I live in India (basically, Asia) and I am buying the HTC Desire tomorrow, either from a Grey Market or through an authorized dealer (it JUST got released here).
It will have the stock 2.1 installed on it (it could be anything: generic(1.21.405.2) or even some random, Asian country version 1.21.720.4 (India's))
Basically, my question is,
1. Can I install "RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00 . 32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe" on my cell REGARDLESS of the version of 2.1?
It will be unlocked and unbranded, BTW.
2. Everything will remain official, right? And I will get future updates OTA?
3. I'm assuming I don't need a Gold Card since it's unbranded. Right?
4. What are the risks? Can I brick my phone if something goes wrong?
Thank you so much, everyone!

Just got myself a One X+ from Vodafone UK after a year or so on my rooted Desire HD. Must say the phone is so much nicer, but then it is considerabely more powerful than my trusty old DHD.
Has anyone found the balls to unlock their bootloader and root their Vodafone One X+'s? Better yet, anyone gone as far as install a rom?
Which guide did you follow to do the above?
Thanks.
Ok, so I got my bootloader unlocked and flashed TWRP recovery. Phone is now rooted.
I tried flashing the AOKP 4.1.2 from Maxwen, the international version. I also flashed the boot image that was within the rom zip. The flashed seemed to be successful and the phone booted up.
However, I find there is no phone signal at all. There is also no sound and the wifi just will not turn on. I am unsure what else was not working as I installed a nandroid and went back to stock for now. My trip down the custom rom road is on hold for now while my bowels recover!
I have the Vodafone UK stock rom installed on the phone. Aside from flashing the rom and correct kernel/boot image (and gapps) is there something else I have missed? Radio, basebands etc?
Could have been a bug with the Rom, reflashing the boot.img again might fix it.
Try lloir's or max's 4.2.1 aokp instead, wipe, flash the boot.img first then flash the Rom.
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda premium
Tried 4.1.2 from Maxwen again. Flashed the latest boot image, wiped then flashed the rom and gapps. Phone started up, again no signal, wifi not switching on, no sound at all.
Looks like I am back to stock again.
I wanted to try the 4.1.2 as I figured it would be bit a more stable than 4.2.
I might give revolution a shot.

Hello, I have the exact same as you, HTC One X+ on Vodafone UK. I Have unlocked the bootloader and just flashed Clockwork mod 5.8.4.0 and daren't go any further incase i mess up, to be honest i have no clue how to root etc. I didn't take ANY backup's whatsoever so is there any files you can give me i may need if i want to revert my HTC back to normal?
I have a HOX+ from Vodafone UK and have installed ARHD with no problems at all, everything works perfectly. The only thing you can't do is install the firmware package because Vodafone are useless and as far as I'm aware are still on hboot 1.30. ARHD is still fine without the firmware package though. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine, it's not half as scary as it seems. :silly:
I'm on Vodafone UK and my hboot is 1.40.
I am happily rooted and flashing roms!

Hello there
I'm just about to get a shiny new HOX+ on vodafone uk after 2 great years on a constantly flashed Desire s..she's seen quite a lot of roms.
I want to be ready to root the day the postie delivers so could you possibly answer a couple of questions for me?
Was it the all in one toolkit on xda you used and if so was it the TWRP international recovery you flashed?
All i want is to root at the moment because i don't think i have the stones to flash any roms straight away
Your help would be GREATLY appreciated :fingers-crossed:
Hi all, hoping for a fairly swift reply here...
I have an HTC 7 Mozart that was factory unlocked at purchase (Im in UK btw). I downgraded bootloader and installed Dynamics2.0 Rom and have had a fantastic time and really enjoyed using this phone and the ROM by Dynamics has been awesome.
I have now bought an iPhone and intend on selling my Mozart on but would prefer to sell it with a Stock ROM on instead of a custom one to help avoid confusion for potential buyers.
Can anyone help me locate the RUU to help flash back to stock or can this readily be done with just Zune?
I wanted to try the RUU (exe) file in this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343905 but when i clicked the download link it says that I am not authorized to access that part of XDA-DEVS
Any help much appreciated.
