[GUIDE] Backup TA/DRM Keys before Unlocking Bootloader - Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

Unlocking the Bootloader the Correct Way!
I've realised there is a lack of proper steps that shows how to unlock BL + backup TA properly, here it is.
FOR WINDOWS ONLY (Dependencies)
First, download the following dependencies:
1. Backup TA ( https://github.com/DevShaft/Backup-TA/releases )
2. Root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/root-how-to-root-5-0-lollipop-t3212108 )
3. FlashTool ( http://www.flashtool.net/index.php )
4. Kanuti Drivers ( http://developer.sonymobile.com/downloads/drivers/xperia-m4-aqua-driver/ )
Secondly, install 1, 3 dependencies from step 1.
If you are using Windows 8 and above, disable driver signing enforcement (If you are using Windows 7 and below, you can ignore this step)
Then, install 'FlashMode' and 'Fastboot' drivers from FlashTool/drivers/Flashtool-drivers.exe
Also, install Kanuti drivers.
Thirdly, revert your firmware (equivalent for model) to one of those supported for rooting (BACKUP YOUR DATA)
Code:
M4 Aqua Dual E2363 - 26.1.B.1.85
M4 Aqua E2303 - 26.1.A.1.128
You can download the required firmware in FlashTool's XperiFirm downloader. (You can download other region specific firmwares and flash, there is no harm, try not to cross flash other model's FTF)
Forth, enable usb debugging in phone, then root phone using the 2nd dependency.
Fifth, Backup TA using the bat file provided in the 1st dependency.
Keep the zip safe on cloud storage or somewhere you won't lose it, if you require to service your phone, restore this zip and flash stock ftf, your phone would be as good as new, no traces of unlocked bootloader could be found.
Sixth, After Backup TA, unlock BL using FlashTool.
Request code from http://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ (Click either M/M2 and key in your IMEI for unlock code)
AND, you are done!

ROOT TO ROM IN X10 Mini PRO (from stock ROM or custom ROM)
(thanks to xda developers nobodyAtall, Spyderex, Emperor.dk and many)
updating my earlier post. The complications in installing recovery completely removed. Now it is easy as charm.
I had myself miniCM pro v21 in stock kernal in my x10 mini pro. So this post intends to do on
1. flashing back to custom sony rom
2. rooting (with busy box installing)
3. installing recovery
4. unlocking bootloader
5. flashing custom kernel
6. flashing cutom ROM and google apps
before that : there are many other steps and methods for this but many of them did not work for me. I am describing here what worked for me.
Before starting save all your needed apps using app saver or with my backup root / titanium backup (after root). Back up your account with google account or export your contacts as .vcf to sd card for later import.
You should have through out internet connection and sometimes you would have to switch off the Antivirus to get it done properly. Also allow adb.exe to connect to net through firewall when needed.
1. FLASHING TO CUSTOM ROM WITH SONY ERICSSON PC COMPANION ( if you are having a custom ROM: other wise proceed to next step of rooting)
1. download and install pc companion from here http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ject/pccompanion/xperiax10minipro?cc=in&lc=en if you are not already having it. Then make it recognize the phone.
2. Select support and update. It may tell having the latest update but go for repair.
3. Follow the commands. This may take a while
4. correctly follow the command to connect the phone in flash mode (switched off and back switch pressed)
later you have your old blue sony rom back.
1. ROOTING
1. download superoneclik.exe from here. http://www.mediafire.com/file/x1l6n7owj7uldbl/SuperOneClick.zip The problem is that many versions do not help and this version did it for me. Unzip and run the .exe
2. Plug the phone and leave it as such (do not charg/ connect or anything)
3. click root and follow the commands when prompted (like want to test?)
4. done (donate if you feel so)
5. Check for the superuser app in menu if it have been rooted.
Then go to market and install
* busybox
* root explorer (just to be on safer side)
3. RECOVERY
found out the easy way. Thanks to devrruti and rect2049 in xda
1. Download this clockworkmod installer from here https://github.com/downloads/react2409/X10-Mini-Pro-Utilities/CWMInstaller-Windows-v4-dl.zip
2. switch on the phone and connect the phone (ensure debugging mode on)
3. unzip the downloaded zip file and run the install.bat file. Follow the instructions
4. now disconnect when finished, switch off phone
5. switch on and when sony logo comes start multiple pressing and releasing the back switch to enter recovery mode
so there is cwm recovery
4. UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
download the flashtool from (0.5.3 -I used) here. http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/
1. before advancing further download the required ROM (for me miniCM7 from http://minicm.googlecode.com/files/MiniCM7-2.1.8-mimmi.zip )and google apps from http://cmw.22aaf3.com/gapps/gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip and copy both to the root of sdcard
2. open the install location of flashtool and install the ggsetup-2.2.0.11.exe file inside and install Gordon’s Gate found in /drivers folder
3. then restart the computer, open the task manager and kill any process named adb.exe
4. donot open flashtool after this till needed.
5. Download the s1tool to confirm the unlock certificate of phone from http://db.tt/OrOQO33 and unlocking tools from here http://db.tt/0zUMR5S4
6. Unzip the s1 tool to the designated folder and run the s1.exe. Switch off the phone. Select the Do Job button and wait.
7. Connect the phone in flash mode (switched off and back button pressed)
8. proceed further only if the screen shows semc simlock certificate
9. unplug the phone, switch it phone, connect to the computer
10. run msm7227_semc.cmd in the directory you unzipped the unlocking files to and press any key to start the unlocking process.
11. If everything goes correctly the log will show press any key at the end.
5. CUSTOM KERNEL AND ROM
download the require kernel.ftf from auther’s site (for me the kernel suiting my ROM was nAa kernal from http://minicm.googlecode.com/files/U20_nAa-10_2.6.29.6-nAa-10.ftf
1. copy this to the /firmware folder in flashtool install folder
2. run the flashtool and select flash, then flashmode
3. select the desired kernel
4. switch off the phone and connect in flash mode when pop up requests
5. disconnect phone when the tool says so
6. switch on the phone and enter the recovery mode when kernel logo comes by repeatedly pressing and releasing the back switch
7. in the recovery mode, do a backup from backup and restore option (up and down by volume keys and select by middle switch)
8. do a factory wipe data
9. then flash the ROM zip by selecting the option install zip from sdcard option followed by gapps zip flashing
10. finish this and take reboot (long)
Enjoy the new experience
A guide that can be stickied for newbies. i like this.
You can even modify the thread by giving elaborate colors and headlines and make it attractive. (if you are interested in doing that so)
Appreciate your work bro!
Thanks!

Like it.. But the rooting part is gonna feel complex for newbies... There are flash file which root and install CWM recovery automatically without any complication...
unnecessary rooting and recovery installs
I appreciate what you are trying to do as SpyderX's thread can be daunting. I think it would be easier to keep people using one tool as you go around the houses a bit.
Perhaps a simpler route from stock using S1 tool and flashtool. This is just an overview as I've copied and pasted it from my blog and would need expanding with links and sufficient detail:
Backup part 1 - use apps such as SMS Backup +, Bookmark sort and backup, APN backup and restore
Check that your bootloader can be safely unlocked with S1 tool (download from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19624790&postcount=2)
Turn on USB debugging on the phone (in settings in the applications section)
Use flashtool to root the phone (download from the homepage http://androxyde.github.com/Flashtool/)
Backup part 2 - use a root backup app (Titanium backup or MyBackup Root)
Use flashtool to unlock the bootloader
Flash the kernel (e.g. nAa kernel) in flashtool
Boot into CWM Recovery (assuming and flash customised firmware (e.g. MiniCM7)

The drop box links in bootloader unlocking section are not working. Can you please post new links?
Now it can be done with the new version of stool and flashtool. Anyway I will update everything as soon as I get time.

I made exactly the same thread quite ago, I was really motivated and stuff but mods just moved it and got it forgotten in the general section. It even had colors, headlines, sections, collaborators, and stuff, sorry to disappointing you but with staff like this it is impossible to help newbies.. I even explained why post it on the developers section: Strictly, it should have been posted on General, yes, but the guide is directed to new members. Most of them probably doesn't check nor even know there is that section. It got moved anyways without any warning or a single word from the one who did it..
Anyways, good luck.

Flashtool 0.9.13.0

This is the latest Flashtool 0.9.13.0:
Download here: http://ul.to/sb8cfqyr
Flashtool is a S1 flashing software that works for all Sony phones from X10 to Xperia Z Ultra. They all use the S1 protocol for flashing firmwares.
This program was originally made to flash sin files downloaded by SEUS or PCC. From time to time, sin files have been bundled into what is now well known FTF (Flash Tool Firmwares). That is the core of Flashtool and the reason of its name.
Flashtool can also easily unlock the bootloader of the phone using the BLU icon as far as the bootloader of your phone is unlockable
The flashing feature as well as bootloader unlock feature are available whatever the phone is recognized or not by the application. What is only mandatory for flashing is to own the FTF file according to the device you want to flash it on.
Why should I use flashtool ?
Once bootloader unlocked, official sony tools do not work anymore.
Using official sony tools, you can only upgrade. No downgrade possible.
Using flashtool, you can choose what to flash and what not to flash. This said, many rooting scenarios are available implying kernel only downgrade to retrieve a patched rooting exploit and then flash back the right kernel.
You said unlocking bootloader ?
This process gives you the opportunity to flash custom roms such as CyanogenMod ROMs.
I invite you to visit the FXP Project that brings CM to xperia devices.
Many other features have been built-in so that Flashtool can also be used to (as far as the phone is recognized by Flashtool) :
Root your phone
Install recovery, busybox, custom kernels
Clean your rom (remove /system/apps apps of your choice) (Be careful, unless you really know what you do, do not modify the default list. This can make your phone stuck at the SE Logo)
Clear dalvik cache
Optimize (install of JIT v2) (plugin for 2.1 phones only from 2010 line)
Customize (installs apps found in the custom/apps folder of the flashtool)
Edit any text file on the device
Rebrand your device

Stock Rom -> CM12 with TA Backup.. Making sense of all the Guides :)

Greetings,
I have for the last few days been reading though a lot of posts on this forum containing guides for howto root, backup TA, unbrick and installing custom ROM etc.
I must say, I am getting a little confused, because they there seems to be a lot of different guides and methods, some seems old and (perhaps) outdated, some are very easy and other very complex in comparason.
So, please forgive me, but I would just like some advice on the current best and easiest way of performing what I plan.
I am getting both a Z3 Compact Tablet Wifi (Hence why I am posting on this forum) and a Z3 Compact Phone. So both Stock ROM and locked bootloader.
For the Tablet I would like to Backup TA, Unlock Bookloader and install CM12 w/ Google Apps Nano (Or what the smallest GA Package is)
For the Phone I would like to Backup TA, Unlock Bootloeader and Install CM12 (No Google Apps).
But First a General Question:
I get the impression that on some versions of the Tablet, the bootleader cannot be unlocked? (ref: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/general/root-flashing-construction-t3091763 -- "Please note! It will only be possible to unlock the boot loader for certain releases of this model. You can check if it is possible to unlock the boot loader of your device by checking the service menu.")
If this is true, is there any way of telling when I am buying if I am getting an "unlockable" tablet?
The posts and guides I have been looking at are:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/general/root-flashing-construction-t3091763
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...t-rooting-sgp611-giefroot-bootloader-t3017314
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/general/adb-fastboot-drivers-tutorial-t2980529
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/development/tabz3c-xzdualrecovery-qa-t3014211
http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-...t/root-root-locked-bootloader-sgp621-t3013534
From what I've gathered, the steps are roughly as follows:
1) Put device in USB debugging mode and Install USB drivers (Fastboot for instance)
2) Place SuperSU on a SD Card
3) Install Dual Receovery "TabZ3C-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-RELEASE.installer.zip" as pr: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/development/tabz3c-xzdualrecovery-qa-t3014211
4) TA Backup as pr: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/general/root-flashing-construction-t3091763
5) Unlock Bootloader, also as pr: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/general/root-flashing-construction-t3091763
6) Flash " TabZ3C-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-RELEASE.flashable.zip" as pr: http://forum.xda-developers.com/z3-tablet-compact/development/tabz3c-xzdualrecovery-qa-t3014211. I am a very unsure about this step, it says "Be sure to flash TabZ3C-lockeddualrecovery[VERSION]-RELEASE.flashable.zip from http://nut.xperia-files.com after installing the ROM and before you reboot, this way you will not lose recovery!". What does this mean?
7) Boot into recovery and install CM and GA (and SuperSU again?)
I apologize for being thick, but there is a lot of cross linking in these treads and some are 100+ pages long, so if there is important details hidden, spotting this is difficult.
Thanks for any help!
Sorry, i do not speak english (i use Google translate). Briefly:
For backup TA + installation CM 12.1
1) Install Drivers (adb, flashmode , fastbootmode)
2) Root with kingroot (it is only compatible with kitkat and lollipop 5.0.2, downgrade if necessary with flashtool)
3) Backup TA (Important)
4) Unlock bootloader . Reboot
5) Copy CM Rom, gapps and supersu zip´s to internal memory (or skip and use sideload)
6) Tablet in fastboot mode (vol+ and connect USB)
Type (PC): fastboot flash boot boot.img
(extract boot.img from the zip of CM)
7) Type (PC): fasboot reboot
When the LED is purple press v- to enter recovery Cyanogenmod
Flash cm.zip. gapps.zip and supersu.zip
8) Reboot, Finished

[Q]LP 2015fw How to Unlock Bootloader

Hi guys, I have an Xperia Z2 running Stock 5.1.1 debloated and rooted.
I'm planning to unlock my bootloader to use the AndroPlus Kernel v63
I am confused on how to Unlock Bootloader via flashtool and then restore DRM keys back because 2014 threads here and comments are all that I can see.
from my current device state, How to unlock the Bootloader using Flashtool and afterwards restore the DRM keys.
I already made a backup of TA partition using this TOOL. And restoring the TA partition again using this tool will relock my bootloader. Which I only wish to be Unlocked and the DRM keys to be restored.
next is what resources do I need in restoring DRM keys. This LINK says that I need the .69 firmware and .690 firmware. these old firmwares are not available to the xperiafirm. and again can't seem to find the FTF files for this two firmwares.
If there is anyone that can help me, please This weekend is the only time that I can do this on my phone.
Thank you!
first of all lookup TABackup and backup your DRM keys.
This is how I did it with my TABackup, starting from unlocked bootloader :
- make sure DRM fix is on your sd card, not internal memory, which will be wiped.
- flash 5.1.1 rom in flashtools, wipe everything
- boot into android, do initial setup, enable usb debugging and unknown sources
- use TABackup to restore your DRM keys
- DO NOT ALLOW PHONE TO REBOOT INTO ANDROID, once the TABackup reboots your phone, turn it off by holding power+vol-up for 5 secs.
- flash Androplus kernel using flashtools or fastboot
- reboot phone and spam vol-up until you get into recovery
- flash DRM fix zip
- reboot into android and check your camera quality/sound quality
kinda in a hurry, so not fully details. if you still need anything I'll check thread later tonight

Recovery mode problem with Z2

Hey,
I have tried to install Cyanogenmod on my Z2. I'm using OpenSuse with the standard flash tools. I've use to following tutorial:
wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_sirius
Everything works untill I've to enter the recovery mode. I wasn't able to enter this recovery mode.
I also tried to enter the recovery mode via adb: I've enable USB debugging and tried "adb reboot recovery" on the terminal. But my phone made a normal reboot.
So I was lookink arround for this problem. I found the following:
developer.sonymobile.com/2015/05/18/recovery-mode-now-available-for-a-range-of-unlocked-xperia-devices-video
So I installed Emma on my windows notebook and tried to follow the instructions from Sony.
But I don't unterstand the second step:
"Use the Flash tool for Xperia devices to install <device name> (Open devices) TA update.
Note 1: <device name> should be the name of your device, for instance Xperia T2 Ultra.
Note 2: For Xperia E3, Xperia M2, Xperia T2 Ultra, and Xperia T3, this update also includes a new boot loader."
I uploaded a screenshot: directupload.net/file/d/4238/neqs2zv9_jpg.htm
Can someone help? Thank you very much.
Have you unlocked your boot loader yet?
If not you might want to back up your TA partition first.
I only briefly looked at that program when it first got released, I didn't flash anything though as I'm quite happy with how my device works standard.
I seed an exclamation mark up the top left of your picture, what does it tell you?
I suspect you need to search and read more before proceeding. I think there was a Sony blog post about how to use it too, so try a Google search too.
Good luck.
Solution
Now it's done.
I've done the following:
- Downgrade to 23.0.1.A.0.167 ( e.g.: android-hilfe.de/thema/guide-flashtool-wie-repariere-downgrade-upgrade-debrande-ich-mein-sony-archiv.556013/ )
- follow these instructions: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=51547735#post51547735
When this steps are done one can flash cyanogen ( wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_sirius ) or something else.

Sent from my D6503 using Tapatalk
yes, the very first steps are:
-full backup, because you will youse DRM keys stored in the ta partition. the ta partition will be destroyed after unlocking [optional, only if you want wo go back to google and want to use DRM]
-unlock bottloader ( developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/ )
