Since the 2.1.3 update I start to hate the performance on my OPX. At first I thought I was the only one because I updated while being rooted but after a factory reset (restoring to stock software) and checking with friends it's clear it's the software's fault.
While the 2.1.2 version of oxygen OS wasn't a top performer (having a few framedrops here and there) I had never had problems typing or switching apps. On 2.1.3 even simple typing is a hell with continuing delays and hickups (using either swiftkey or google keyboard).
I think OP limits the performance on purpose because they fear the OPX will sell better than the OP2 (better design, better screen, better price).
Am I going insane or do you think the same?

It's an update that was supposed to fix the sd card issue but apparently brought along other issues. They didn't limit any performance so the opx won't outsell the op2.they'll release another software update which should fix the mess they've made with the last one. So hold on or roll back to the previous stable version.

I'm waiting for the CM12 builds to become beta because I use it as my daily driver. I haven't tried the blu_spark (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-x/orig-development/kernel-t3250995) kernel because it seemed to early.
Should I try it?
Its stable

I'm rooted and on blu_spark kernel.
While the kernel gives better performance, the key board issue is still present.
I'm happy to see you have the same problem, I thought the lower part of my display became less responsive
Nonetheless, custom ROMs are close. And I'm not staying on OOS when they come out
2.1.3 also "fixes" cpu throttling issue with more aggresive scale. With 2.1.2 cpu core clocks hardly ever drop under 1497 MHz. (all 4 of them). With 2.1.3 some cores drop offline and throttling is done in a larger scale. (down to 300MHz'ish) when phone is idling. I bet this is the reason for feel of lower performance.
There's also new .so files for camera, but did not see much improvement there.
Probably flashing a custom kernel with a different governor would do the trick..
I noticed that too
Even I noticed the keyboard issue. Suddenly typing has become HELL on this phone.
Though, they managed to solve SD Card issue.
It seems they've introduced few bugs, intentionally hmmm, can't say.
I have changed a bit so living with the OPX isn't so much of a hell at the moment.
1. I've downgraded to Oxygen 2.1.2 via the stock recovery (just "update from phone memory")
2. installed the blu_spark kernel (boot in twrp and flash the kernel || MANY thanks to the devs!!!)
3. for myself I have installed supersu via twrp...
Now I have decent performance and no more keyboard issues... I've never had problems with the sd card or CPU throttling so I don't care to run 2.1.2 for a while
oxygen 2.1.2 zip : https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24269982086992164
twrp : http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=15364
Blu_spark kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/dl/?id=15365
No problems here with Oxygen 2.1.3 and blue_spark kernel. I haven't noticed any keyboard issues since I got the OPX

I m on 2.1.0 !
I upgraded to 2.1.2,2.1.3(with custom kernel too) and none of them worked well as i got keyboaed touch issue,
But now i m downgraded to 2.1.0 with custom kernel (r37) , and performance, batterylife is just awesome,
Touch response is great and do not have any complaints!
Using xposed with it works really great
For me 2.1.0 is running the smoothest(with better battery life)?

Note : I'm just sharing the work of the XDA Member Jeeko. This mod was tested on rooted stock Android 4.1.2. It also could be used on some other roms and phones. ( I also used it on my motorola Atrix HD). This MOD makes my phone way more responsive and smooth than a lot roms. Now I have a smooth, nice, good battery LGOG!
You are welcome to use it on your rom after nandroid backup! Please read the whole thread!
Flash at your own risk!
I am using the stock version now ( for rooted stock rom only). For other rom you could use CM version. But please read the original thread first!

everything you've always wanted from a performance engine, but you never dared to ask
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______________
Here I am back with another mod of the Pure™Series.
After improving the system sound quality and graphics, it is time to improve Android. But be careful! This is not the usual performance engine which adds only script in the / init.d folder,
This time will be improved the android system at 360°! Basically this engine is a collection of concepts of all performance engine of the forum, that none of us will ever be able to install because many would conflict.
My testers were stunned by the power of this engine, but why not try it yourself? Are you ready to receive scary performances, to blow up the AnTuTu score counter?
Well, talk about serious stuff
◢ Features ◣
- Android performances improved at 360°
- Radically improved management ram on android (Lags...adios!)
- Script lightweight and revised to be adapted to this engine
- Improves a lot the graphics: of course Pure Graphic™HD, Pure Dithering Plus™ and... AOSPA 3.60 system tweaks
- Scan multimedia time drastically reduced
- Network Improvements, 3G experience even in 2G modality
- All SQlite database optimized
- Enable hardware features turned off by default for a better experience on entry level devices
- Greatly increases the score AnTuTu: Try it to believe it!!
- Reduces the startup time of Android
- A version for stock rom and one for CM, to squeeze any roms!
- Allows you to play ported games without lags
- Cleans the system every 24 hours, thecache every week and the Dalvik every month (cronos easter egg)
- Automatically Zipalign on each boot (sensitive to the user)
Battery
- Drastically decreased the drainage of battery
- Check the activities that consume too much battery stop them with PureWakelocks™
- When the phone is charging reduces system services for faster charging
- The battery is calibrated on every boot
- Disable animation of the system when the battery is nearly exhausted
- Improvements in build.prop as regards the part of consumption
Graphics, Screen, Images
- Enables a non-aggressive dithering to save CPU
- When you lock the device, the engine makes sure that the GPU is turned off
- Enables deep sleepalso in the bugged rom
- Parts of bravia engine
- Of course parts of CrossBreeder (credits to dev)
- Of course parts of Adrenaline Engine (credits to dev)
- Of course PureGraphics HD, even though I already told you
- Of course V6 supercharger
- Generates video entropy (like seeder)
CPU, Governors, I/O Schedulers
- Slightly improves the scaling of the frequencies (for better results you need a good kernel)
- Lightens the load on the CPU switching the workload to GPU rendering
- Enable the swap partition in Android (experimental)
I've said too much, man. Install this engine and discover its power!
◢ Compatibility ◣
This engine works on any devices with any rom, but there is a version for CM's rom and one for stock based firmwares. So, CMx.x, Lewa Os, MIUI, etc.
Install the stock version only on your stock firmware of your phone....
if your device don't have gingerbread or ICS officially, install the CM version (This also applies to the AOSP)
Wish i had balls to flash it on slimkat 1.95 4.4.2 haha if anybody tested it please post your reviews here i may give it a shot when i get home :highfive:

What I do is make a nandroid backup in twrp first, then flash the version for my rom. For you would be the cm version.
If anything goes wrong, you could always restore your backups.
For me, I found stock rom is faster then PA Rom. After flashing this mod, the stock Rom is at least as fast as PSX. ( I have two LGOGs for now to compare )

I am trying to collect some balls to flash this , since in past two weeks my phone has gone through 3 times LGNPST , 8 times ROM install and several nandroid restoration and backups.
I am on stock rom 4.1 JB , rooted and unlocked. I am using Android Tweaker pro. edition , it has similiar tweaks to this , like Bravia Engine , and Network tweaking , etc.
Would you suggest to try this over the Android Tweaker , becaue it seems tooo tempting to me. I will see if I can Backup the current rom again , and try this.
I also have to try the camera mod , too. Which I saw in Nexus 4 sections . Editing media_profiles.xml .
Will report tommorow , if things go allright.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
BTW , I just want to confirm that there ae no scripts in this , which will force the hardware beyond it's normal /stock range , right ??

@Rishi. I know all that troubles in flashing roms. At the very beginning I also go through LGNPST several times. After all those effort, PSX and stock are my personal favorites.
For my device, the only mod for me is this PurePerformance Mod. I haven't try other mods yet. For now, I am happy with this mod in stock rom. I try playing games( temple run, minion run) and browsers ( dolphin browser) , this mod makes performance at least as good as PSX.
One suggestion is after you flash this rom, you might need to reboot several times to let system settled down itself. We all need time to get used to new stuff, so do phones.
I might try the Android Tweaker Mod later on. But could you link the camera mod please? I also want to try
We could just share all the mods that really boot performance and sharp the phone :highfive:

Oh man i wanna flash this on slimakat it become slow and non responsive lately.. you guys are tempting me i guess i will do it on new years eve haha
I am going to do various kinds of benchmarks and post the results on this new year's eve.
I like the stock ROM, but cannot handle the audio latency. Its almost a full second gap between screen and sound. Does this mod address audio latency?

@laofan ,I have taken several benchmark tests and have uploaded them here( in case if you want to include them in OP as a bench). Currently running this mod on stock jellybean with eco-mode and power saving turned off.
Linpack , Vellamo 2 HTML 5 , Vellamo Metal , Quadrant Standard , CPU Prime Benchmark , BenchMark Pi , AntuTu benchmark.
Let me know if someone wants me to test any other benchmarks using this , requests are welcome for those who are looking to try this.
Would appreciate if some one shares their result too.
I use Antutu and It always scores higher then Nexus 4.
What really matters here is I could hardly notice any lag. It just runs so smooth after this mod.
After so many rom flashing on different devices, I found that it is NOT true that the higher android version, the smoother of performance.
There are some roms( even just stock) that are just running so good even they are just lower android. I have two phone right now , Motorola Atrix HD and the LGOG, now both running stock or stock-optimized rom. And right now there is very few roms could compete with them.
For now I am hoping LGOG could get official 4.4 update. otherwise maybe I would wait a few more months to go back to PSX stable.

How much do you use to get on Antutu with your OG ? Mine as the pic says , challenges Xperia Z . Very close to it.!!
And yes , it runs very smooth indeed. But the device is already so fast that I just can't differentiate. , Krait S4 pro , Cores are really fast and furious , though a bit power hungry.
Generally the more optimized and stable a rom is the better results it'll have in user experience. I had experienced this phenomenon on my Motorola Atrix too.
And as far as Official 4.4 update goes , I hardly have any faith left in it. PS , I don't like 4.4 looks, I prefer JB's appearance. I would prefer a JB 4.3 rom with positive optimizations of 4.4 .

There is a thread in development section about stock rom, you could try flash that one.

Hello all,
Just bought my Nexus 9 last week, 16 GB Wifi Model and I wanted to see if any of you have experienced performance issues. Specifically I am seeing that when I am in an app for some duration of time, when I hit the home button, sometimes it takes the device several seconds to return to the home screen and load all of the apps and widgets AND background image. It seems like this shouldn't be happening as often as it does. I have even tried ElementalX kernel to see maybe if boosting performance would help but it hasn't done much in the way of this problem I'm having. Just seems like this tablet has enough processor, RAM, GPU under the hood for this not to be happening - if this is uncommon I'm going to go ahead and return it for a new unit
Performance has been great for me, significantly better than my G2. I'm unsure of why some people are having negative experiences with stock compared to others, but I would suggest that you try a reset. If that doesn't work you could try rooting, then flashing a custom ROM.
If after all of that your device still shows lag I think you should return it.
Sent From Capsule Corp.
5.0 on N9 is deeply flawed. Wait for the 5.1 update and then see how your N9 performs. If your return window is closing soon, return it now and check back when 5.1 is widely available on the N9.

Yeah I haven't had time to sift through all of the details from previous threads but if that sums it up, I think I am willing to wait it out. It's not terrible, it's just not the performance I expected from the tablet especially after reading reviews on Engadget saying how buttery smooth it is. By and large it is very smooth but has that issue with having to reload the home screen frequently which I just don't think should happen. It does seem like a software issue overall
I just bit the bullet and installed one of the latest 5.1 custom ROMs (Dirty Unicorns 9.2 test build 3/31/15), and it certainly is a noticeable improvement over the stock 5.01 ROM I was running. So, whether you wait for the official OTA, or load up one of the custom ROMs, 5.1 should fix the problems you mention.

Thanks for the update, I will probably wait it out for the stock 5.1 and see how it goes. Last I checked there weren't any factory images yet, I'll have to look again
I got a second hand perfect condition lg g5 ls988 rather cheap... All seems perfect... New condition pretty much... Unlocked bootloader and installed lineage os and typhoon kernel, did antutu test and scored really well... But I'm having one huge issue..... HEAT....
This thing had climbed into the 80c range for cpu... While gaming on a rather non aggressive app called arcane legends.. And I don't know what is going on.... Even on light use seems to hit 55c+ can barely touch the phone at times...
Even on stock it seems to get very hot... Also I can not use stock kernel because I believe this device suffers screen burn in and I have to use custom kcal settings to prevent this... Which means kernel much support it...
Hopefully I can get some help.. I really like this phone but the heat is insane...
Sent from my LG-RS988 using Tapatalk
Have you sorted out the heat issue yet? It seems to me that the issue is with typhon kernel. I'm not sure if this is fixed in the last update to the kernel, which didn't get built for the rs988, or not. Although I never had much of an issue with heat on stock so it may be something else.

No, don't even bother on custom ROM as its will give you more problems dan solutions. i'm using stable 10.3.4.0 too (4k 60fps with built-in camera app ftw) with extreme kernel and it works seamlessly. if you're not a hardcore gamer and concerning more to longevity of the phone try franco kernel instead (bc extreme kernel will overclock everything). FK will underclock your CPU and optimize some other settings to make your phone running 'enough' power with minimal battery drain.

Using multitouch test app, if i try to touching the same spot repeatedly it's only detects like only 7/10 touches. But when playing games or typing there's no missing touch though. For ghost touch, i don't encounter any.

This is the kinda person who start talking rubbish, mocking other's opinion, start a fight in a peacefully thread and thinking they are know abt everything. Custom ROM is just a skin that do a little to none modification to system, and kernel will have more control than custom ROM bcs kernel IS the main driver for the hardware. So if you're pointing out that he just need to test it via software perspective, then flash a custom kernel and he will know if the issue is on the hardware level or just need an updated/modded driver/software. Stop treating others like that, start a debate with manners, smart guy.
Should i sell this phone and buy Samsung? I bought this phone for gaming. I can't play any game because touch issue.
I sell this phone today because bad display. I will use Android emulator for PC.
I had Ghost Touch problem on my Xiaomi mi9 in Call of Duty Mobile and PubG.
This is the only solution which fixed my problem:
xiaomi.eu/community/threads/xiaomi-mi-9-ghost-touch-issue.51043/#post-503263
1. Open settings
2. Activate developer options (My device > Tap 8 times on "MIUI-Version")
3. Settings > Additional Settings
4. Developer options
5. Disable MIUI-Optimizations (at the very bottom).
6. Reboot
so i know that this phone is 4 years old. but in 2016/2017 it had a high end cpu/4gb ram(even today it has a higher antutu scores than lots of newers models). yet it feels so laggy to work on after some use, mine still has stock android. but i feel like when swaping between apps, or using them , it just feels crappy. also the phonebook behave weird, can't add phone numbers cause i get this thing ''phonebook stoped working'' , and almost all my contacts dissapeared like i deleted them. i'm not the type of person that changes phones every year,i had mine 3 years now. but i think i'm just gonna give up on this phone, and get something that gets software updates
Things get corrupted after a while, apps you've installed running in background hogging resourses, etc. Do a factory reset, or better still, flash a recent Anroid 9 or 10 rom. This phone still flies on the right rom.
Heyyo, yeah depending on your build of EUI ROM? It'll suck. Anything prior to 19s is definitely garbage. X821 19s was pretty good and same with x829 20s or x820 30s (albeit with ads). The best way to experience EUI ROM is CrisBalGreece modified versions.
Otherwise? I highly recommend custom ROMs. We have a lot of great Android 9 ROMs and Android 10 is pretty decent albeit with more bugs.

It simply because the chipset it is using is a "bad" one..... You can see this with every Snapdragon 820 and 821 phones(Zuk Z2, Google Pixel 1(OG) etc) ... They heat up and throttle down easily = lag... on paper the 82x should be able to outperform a SD625 any day but not so in real life.... with custom ROM they are much more manageable... I think you should definitely be fine with custom ROM unless you are planning on gaming on it...

so was the snapdragon 820 bad on all phones models not only the cheap chinese ones like i thought, only if i knew this when i bought it... to be honest, i took my abandoned xperia z3 compact from the drawer..and it moved more smoothly. indeed, i think this phone has some overheating issues.what rom do you recommend, should i stick to EUI, not a fan really to the stock eui i got, full of bugs. i have just rooted my phone now and i'm ready to instal other ROM . but there are so many options. looking at android 9 or 10 but so many variants available. i just want it to run smoothly. also , do i have to update the firmware version via twrp? i have the stock one. anyway i think i have the indian version, and the linegeOS android 10 version i wanted to install seems like it doesn't support this mode(only CN on the x820) looking at aosp 9.0 now

The Xperia Z3 Compact are Snapdragon 801.... Those were great... on paper SD820 or 821 should be miles ahead in performance compared to 801 or 800... but IRL on most of the phones they usually suck... (I did saw someone swear that his Oneplus 3 ran great after getting angry because I said SD820 821 are bad chipsets... then again Oneplus 3/3T probably have a much bigger ROM community both dev and user wise)
unfortunately I also just recently took my Le Max 2 from the drawer and started fiddling with these new android 9/10 roms, I can't give much advice... I'm currently on Android 9 Lineage it's pretty stable.
Generally, you'd want custom ROM so you can remove the bloatware, install a custom kernel so you can use a kernel that better manage the chipset(battery or usagewise) and a config that might suit your usage...CMIIW

so today i have instaled the first time a custom ROM,after struggling with twrp for 2hours . i have instaled AospExtended ROM V6.0 [X2] (adroid PIE) . it move more smoothly for sure, but not sure it moves this way beucase it's just a fresh rom..will way some weeks to see if it keeps up.
and about instaling a custom kerne . isn't that coming instaled with the ROM?
I have my device for nearly two years, and I am using eui 6.0.30s CBG cleaned edition since last year... I never face any kind of lag or bug except the lag caused by power save mod, which automatically enables itself when the battery goes down under %5. I think full wipe+reinstall firmware would be a great solution for you.
Heyyo, I definitely don't agree that 820/821 is bad lol... That's ridiculous. It's true that back in 2016 no one cared about proper cooling for the SoC though. I've seen people mod their x2 and zl1/0's with thermal pads or non-conductive thermal paste and get a heck of a lot better thermal management for just a few pennies of extra cooling.
On any pie or Q ROM though, we do have tuned thermal-engine.conf by Shiva which helps quite a bit and also allows for better sustained performance too which also performs a lot better than EUI ROM which focuses more on lower temperatures than balancing thermals and performance.
Anywho, yeah, if you're upset with performance of EUI ROM? I'd definitely recommend a custom ROM. Anything on pie that's actively maintained is a good idea.
Android 10 ROMs still sometimes have performance stutters for now... So hopefully later on it'll work better, so that's why I recommend for now sticking with pie.

dude.. people mod their x2 and zl1/0's with thermal pads or non-conductive thermal paste and get a heck of a lot better thermal management for just a few pennies of extra cooling. .. I never had to do that on SD800/801 phones lol...
since you are very determined that its not a bad phone , I'm taking out my Le Max 2 a second time .... hehe... I occasionally play Mobile Legends.. any other tips you can give?
Nexus 5 was SD800 and was known for overheating issues

Like I said, the main thing would be to switch to a custom ROM that has Android Pie and is decently updated. Most of those pie custom ROMs will have pretty decent thermals while still delivering decent performance.
