Hi,
I'm running on latest cm11 with boeffla kernel and I'm surprised that I can't play 60fps video (YouTube and normal downloaded video). Earlier cm11 versions can play 60fps videos, so it's bug or I missed something? Thanks for answers.
Btw. It's not even working on any newer custom roms including lollipop.

I'm a new user so I can't post to the Android dev forum. I've successfully flashed two different CM10 ROMs to internal storage -- both of these:
[ROM] [WIP] CM10 PURE AOSP 4.1.2 JBV06.1-Hashcode Buildbot Says Hi!
[ROM] SGT7+CM10+Cherry Picks,By meghd00t. New 09/12 Multitouched!
I've actually tried the most recent two builds of each. In general, things work great, with one problem: I've never been able to get hardware video decoding to work, in any of the ROMs. Other people seem to be having hardware video decoding issues on some builds but not all, so I thought for sure I'd hit on one that worked, but no luck.
Any ideas? Do I need to flash a different kernel to get hardware video decoding to work? Thanks!
what player you using?
hw acc is working fine for- as far as i know- all of them
mx video plays HW+ mode fine for almost all my videos i stream
I'm using MX Player also. Can't play anything in HW or HW+. SW mode works.
Also, for what it's worth, I just tried installing CM7, and hardware acceleration works fine.
Symptoms that I'm seeing in CM10 that lead me to believe that hardware acceleration isn't functioning:
* Can't play videos in HW or HW+ mode in MX Player
* Can't play videos at high quality in Vevo
* WatchESPN app can't play any video
MX Player, Vevo, and WatchESPN are all fully functioning in CM7 though.
Try the 24/11 build of SGT7+CM10+Cherry Picks,By meghd00t. Both MX Player and Youtube HD playback work better than in the latest version.
sometimes you have to restart your tablet to get hw accel on videos to kick in.

Try going to settings and start over picking which plan and your user info. I stumbled upon this by accident but it works quite nicely and I am running the CM10.1 from Kuzma30. It worked whether I was using SGT7, Alien, or the stock CM10 ROMS. MXPlayer is working as well for me.
Hey guys is there a fix for the Slugish / Slow HD Video playback on devices with Kitkat ?
first I though that it was my Gnex since it doesn't have official kitkat support and etc
but then my brothers Nexus5 is experiencing the same problem
playing 1080p videos is slow , sluggish , dropping frames and etc...
already tried different players , MX Player , Dice Player , Bsplayer and etc..
same here
people with custom rom android 4.4 have the same problem :good::good::good:
After recent updates, youtube cannot plays videos anymore. Youtube works on earlier updates though.
I have tried almost every Android nougat ROMs including lineage os 14.1, RR, DU, PA and others but none of the ROMs I can record videos in 1080p, actually I get very black videos in GCam and in stock camera I am not able to record videos. I am just wanted to know that do you guys able to record videos in 1080p, by other camera apps or in any specific ROMs????
I'm unable to get a smooth video playback experience from my XTZ on any of the Nougat ROMs I have tried (LineageOS, crDroid, AOSP-CAF). Video streaming has some quite significant stuttering regardless of source (Netflix, Youtube) and playing local files has the same problem regardless of player app (LineageOS default video player, MX Player). Considering that Netflix streams on this device are not even HD, there should be easily enough processing power to play them without any stutter. Also, I do not recall having these problems on the 5.1.1 stock ROM.
I have already tried clean flashing several different nightlies of the official LineageOS as well as a couple of different unofficial builds of crDroid / AOSP-CAF. All of these produced the same results.
Right below are links to small video files which demonstrate the problem using a simple animation. The three white bars should be moving smoothly from right to left (as they do when I play the video on my PC). Instead, on my XTZ the bars "twitch" or "jump" all the time as if there are frames being dropped or something. The 30fps version should be the smoothest since this device has a 60Hz refresh rate. I would appreciate if someone could test this on 5.1.1 Stock and/or Nougat.

BTW, I am not the original author of this animation. I found it as an m2ts file on some other forum and then made the different frame rate versions to mp4 which the default Android players can handle.
For video streaming, i still recommend stock ROM, though it is quite old.
