CM10 vs CM 11 vs CM12 - Which is lighter, faster, smoother? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title asks ^^^

Cm 12.1 (imho)

CM 12/12.1 isn't the faster nor the smoothest and in terms of stability, it's not the best. but undoubtedly it's the prettiest version of android and many people love it including myself. CM11 is definitely the fastest of them all, but there are certain CM12.1 ROMs which are fast and smooth as hell but not as CM11
I think CM11 is *really* ugly and doesn't have as many features as CM 12.1 so I'd suggest you use any CM12.1 ROM of your choice and wait for an stable release of CM 13 since it has better ram management and more features than CM 12.1

CyanogenMod: Nightly or Stable - Which do you use?

I would like to know which version of CyanogenMod you prefer for daily use. Although nightlies are not meant for daily use, I think some users do.
Do you like to see updates every day and use the latest state of the ROM or do you prefer to have a rock solid ROM and wait for the next step until there's a RC or stable? And why?
Actually I am switching between stable and nightlies within days, because I cannot decide which one to use. I love nightlies, because I am curious for the latest features/bugfixes/else. But when a bug occurs, I always think: "Well, the stable version has only minor differences (for me) but is stable. Let me switch back." And after a few days I am curious what has changed. ^^
How about you? Stable or nightly?
There are only 2 stable versions since ics..
Cm9 stable
Cm10.1 stable
Cm9 has extreme battery life but its old now..cm10.1 is good n new but battery life is poor.. (yes it is)
I am currently using last cm10 nightly ... i guess 16/12/12
Works like a charm wid decent battery life.
and 10.2 nightly builds are good enough for daily use (only down side is poor battery life for me)
Yes. Ice Cream Sandwich esp. 4.0.4 has the best battery life out of the box. Even with Samsung's stock firmware. The CyanogenMod of Jelly Bean is still much better than Samsung stock JB when it comes to energy consumption.
But this was not my question. ^^ It was more about whether 10.1 stable or 10.2 nightly at the moment.

I would prefer the stable version
Nightlies arent safe (few nightlies back.. i restored a nandroid backup which wiped my entire internal storage) i reported the issue and it was confirmed by others too.
So i would suggest staying wid 10.1 stable .. 4.3 has mostly under the hood changes.. and m not a maniac to be on latest Android version irrespective of its stability
I'm with 10.3 nightly from 24/9 good for daily use, battary is better for me too:good:

Make that 10.2 there ain't 10.3
I'm on CM9.0...i think all my previous phone also cm9.0

cm 10.1.3 already released so im using it now ..
Only stable... for me is better...
I only use nightlys and had never any heavy problems.
I trust the CM team.
Used to use Nightlies to have the newest version of Android and use the latest CyanogenMod features, but now that there is a Stable release I'm using that as the stability is well worth being just one version behind stock Android

i switch to latest stable/nightly every couple of months to check things out, always coming back to CM9 it's just perfect
I'm using CM 10.1.3 and it's very fast and stable!
Developers Developers.. please be OmniRom maintainer and port it to our GS2..../request

I currently use the stable 10.1 version. Battery life is... Okay... But I think I will check out CM9 stable to see if i can do better. In terms of performance I really love CM10.1. I have not used a nightly of 10.2 but I think i will not need to until a RC comes out.

I used to use only stable images. But now i updated form i9000 to i9100 and using multiboot with dormanx kernel i test a lot of nighlys
tried 10.1 stable and the only thing stable about it was how bad it run. Camera force-closing, random reboots, etc. Same experience I had back in the day with CM9. Switched to ASOP and I'm never ever giving CM another chance again.
Always checking out the the latest release, doesn't matter if it's stable or nightly.:good:
Normally I'd have flashed an M Snapshot but there was nothing uploaded for the S2. In the CyanogenMod news I've read that they would push M snapshots onto the servers last night, but there is nothing appearing for the S2. Well, seems like I have to wait until a somewhat stable-like release for us is uploaded, I don't really wanna use the nightlies because I need my phone for everyday use and bugs are bad

[Q] CM 10.1 vs 10.2 vs 11

Currently i'm on CM11 with the kernel it comes with. However i'm facing camera issues where it says that camera isn't detected sometimes and a couple of FCs here and there.
So my question was which ones more stable in terms of scrolling/daily use/battery life + the kernel until CM 11 comes up with a stable release. I'm concerned about the battery life as well because it's not that great and i get lag when switching apps etc. I know that best rom questions are forbidden that's why i've specified these versions and i'm only asking for opinions as i really don't want to flash CM10 right now and find out that it's worse.
so no one?
10.2 is the most recent stable version, 11 is nightly and buggy as s**t

[DISCUSSION] AOSP or LG stock - which do you prefer on G2?

This thread is the place to discuss what kind of ROM you prefer on the G2 and why. This is NOT a "whats best thread" but more of a: why I like AOSP ROMs more than stock LG based ROMs thread.
I will start: I prefer LG stock roms on my G2 because of extra features and d2ts+more responsive dt2w.

AOSP:
- Android 5.1.1
- CAF
- Consistently themed apps
- That much more configuration
- Lighter
- Has ported stock camera
- Better battery
- Less heat
- DT2W is hit or miss
- Some variants have SIM/connectivity issues
-41k in antutu
Stock:
- Has LG features
- Better camera features, not quality in particular
- 34k in antutu
- Worse battery since lollipop
- Heats up quicker, kernel is pretty messy
That's my experience personally!

I saw you responded to my post about CM12 nightlies not continuing for the G2. Wanted to ask you (since you didn't mention) what 5.1 (CAF source) ROM you're running? What would you suggest for a stable AOSP ROM that has device/kernel specific updates for our G2s?
I personally prefer CM 12.1 ROM based on my device: for now I'm running Resurrection Remix with Llama Kernel and it such a beast: Xposed, Android 5.1.1, all that good stuff that make my G2 breaths again. Only issue I think is the camera and a real "Do not distrub" on the ROM. But, yeah, AOSP / CM ROMs for me.
Tried Euphoria OS (5.1.1 CAF etc).
I felt that the CM12 5.0.2 builds were more stable. I don't remember seeing any noticeable improvement or advantage in moving on to CAF 5.1.1 builds (apart from knowing it's running the latest kernel/modem/etc). Lots of promising stuff in CAF builds but I was looking for something more stable, it's not merged to official CM12.1 yet for a reason (I was getting odd vibration bug where on some vibrates, the vibration won't stop until you do another vibration action), camera seemed even slower than on CM12, etc.
Decided to move back to an LG based ROM for the first time ever, I'm running CloudyG2 3.2 now with Nova Launcher, Settings on List View, etc. Very happy with the Xcam LG Camera running. Interface wise I think I prefer the feel of AOSP, and will probably change back if the CAF stuff ever gets merged for an official CM12.1 nightly but I'm going to give CloudyG2 a go for a while and enjoy taking some good snappy photos.
In aosp iam using the last 5.1.1 like nexus so I'm happy and very very faster than stuck rom. Lg 5.02 is very lagy
Stock because AOSP is really unstable.. AOSP is fine for common user but if you are hardcore user or you working on your phone - AOSP ROMs on G2 are mess..
Stable stock LP for me.
41k to 42k in Antutu. Not 34k. I have 2 G2 D800(s) both performed the same. One is with T-Mobile stock with selectable network band and the other with AT&T stock.
I prefer stock because camera in a
Aosp is suck

CloudyG2 3.3 (almost stock) - good performance, smooth, better camera.
AOSP or Slim based Roms. Stock is ok for the normal user just doesnt have enough for the power user. CM based is not an option.
LG ROMs, tried 99% of AOSP roms for G2 and most are unstable/buggy....KK AOSP has a bad camera/interace dropping frames (same problem on my old nexus 4, status bar pull down laggy), LP AOSP worse camera, AudioFX not working, bugs, worse battery....

Wow sounds like you used CM based roms alot. I have no issue with the camera. Even use the stock camera app on an AOSP based rom (not CM based).
Stock, because AOSP are mostly unstable, if on AOSP you could use the stock camera (with advanced drivers) and have 4G, I would use AOSP, but cause you couldn't, not...

Those are still based off of cm. There are only 2 that don't use cm that I know of. Dirty Unicorns and Slim. Anything that is based off of cm is known for issues. They never test any of the code they merge. I won't even mention bliss as that is one of the worst around.
Slim is a fantastic ROM,smooth and fast...it is my daily rom

I've had Slim on my old Nexus 4 but the Slim bloatware always put me off. Now CM doing the same with its Camera app, Calender, Music............
I never tried Dirty Unicorns. What about Resurrectionremix? Is that CM too?

I do not know about normal SlimLP,but I do know that SlimSaber is currently the fastest and lightest ROM available.
There is no bloatware, and it is always up to date with the latest Android version(5.1.1 and its subversion).

Yes. 99% of roms are based off of cm. Which means they keep most of the bugs that cm has never bothered to fix.

What is the best non MIUI based rom for the Redmi Note 2?

My priorities are battery life and camera. But please give your opinion on what the best roms are so I, and others like me, can make an informed decision.
Thanks!
Before today i have said MOKEE but now with the latest version, my phone burn my hand when i play a game.
I search a good ROM now like you
CM based rom , i think blisspop is the best, stable some extra options and good battery.

BlissPop is one of the best, but Resurrection Remix is also very stable and pretty smooth, with good battery and well working camera.

[Discussion] Best costum rom for k20/m9t

Hello Everybody,
The idea behind this thread is to share our experience with costum roms avialable for our device.
To keep it clean I suggest to put exact version of os we're on to avoid comments like "it works for me".
Hope that will help to clear current situation in dev stage.
My current costum-ish one is xiaomi.eu 11.0.3 Stable. As name suggest it's rock solid, miui on top so we can love or hate it, however as it's based on xiaomi software I do not experienced any bugs so far.
I am on stock ROM now MIUI 11 / Android 9. Looking for an opportunity to switch on Android 10 ROM, which have amoled black theme for most of apps in dark mode. Current ROM (stock) even don't have black theme for youtube. So any suggestions are considerable.

MIUIMIX Beta/Weekly.
1 - MIUI in my opinon is superior to AOSP and Lineage, better battery, fit to the hardware.
2 - Updated to the latest and greatest that Xiaomi want on the phone
3 - Very stable, even if the Beta
I don't want my ROMs to wear costumes.
I ran xiaomi.eu with android 10, paranoid alpha 2, evolution x3.3/3.4, pixel experience, all android 10. Best ones are evolution x and paranoid alpha, (pixel experience couldnt play audio on youtube? And videos were stuttering while playback). If you want to be on the safe side, just use xiaomi.eu with android 10, but if you want to try something out, try evo x
Paranoid Android Alpha 2 (Android Q) for me. Very stable, buttery smooth, kickass battery life. If customization is not your priority (but performance is), Paranoid Android takes the cake for me. Cheers.
try RR remix Pie it has minimal to zero bugs, dark mode, lots of customization combined with butterfly kernel v5 and you can use it as a daily driver. i've try miui eu and other custom roms but RR is very stable and it has a good battery back up.

Where can I get the rr ROM?
Hella Rom, pretty good battery life. No bugs, really snappy. Running the last release based in 12.05 Miui release. Tuned to my taste.
