Problems with Recovery Mode - Kindle Fire HDX 7" & 8.9" Q&A, Help & Troubleshoot

Hello,
I've been trying to get rid of Fire OS for quite a while now and replace it with Stock Android or something close as Fire OS is really basic but when ever I try to do it, The problem I have with my recovery gets in the way (on my Kindle Fire HDX - 3rd Generation - 7 inch)
When I hold the power off/on button + volume up and down buttons at bootup, It boots like the image shown below but gets into a boot loop until when it's given up it shows what is shown in the second image

(Sorry for not adding the actual images on here, I can't post the links properly yet and this is the only way I could do it because I have no idea how to upload images on here)
This is also the same with 'adb reboot recovery', It will just show the following:

So if anyone could help me out in any shape or form because I've been looking for solutions for weeks but I can not find one.
Thank you,
Kieran

I'm not exactly sure why you hold power + vol up or power + vol down? Note that you can NOT play around with amazon's HDX the way you can do with other devices! This will lead to an unrecoverable brick soon enough.
So, first of all, what the current status of your HDX? Fire OS version, rooted, etc.?

Kindle Fire HDX - 3rd Generation - 7 inch
Current Status: Working fine apart from Recovery Mode not working
Fire OS Version: 4.5.3
Rooted (Although this issue was there before I rooted)
Only default applications (Apart from KingRoot)
ADB drivers installed

Appears your recovery partition is damaged (duh). Unfortunately, you can not replace the contents with a locked bootloader. Nor can you rollback or upgrade to a different version of FireOS with a damaged recovery partition. Catch 22.
Longshot: If you can find a 4.5.2/4.5.2 recovery image you could try to flash it with flashify. Probably wouldn't work (locked bootloader) and you might end up with a brick.
In your shoes I would stick with FireOS 4.5.3 (well, you really don't have a choice) and use 1Mobile or similar technique to add apps not available in the Amazon Store. Many Xposed modules also work on FireOS.

My kindle is dead after the wipe on safestrap !

I follow some instruction on internet and after the wipe step on safestrap, my kindle is completely dead now. it wouldnt turn on anymore, keeping showing the kindle fire logo. I think It's been erased !
Are there anyway i could revive my kindle or is it ready to be thrown away ?
Please help. Thanx !
i have a similar problem, after a wipe data factor reset from safestrap and then flashing the thor gapps rom and making sure the rom slot was active(not the stock rom slot) but the rom slot that i flashed the thor gapps rom on and ,,,i rebooted the device as usual but it only booted to the grey kindle fire splash screen so i held the power button until it booted again but only going to the grey kindle fire splash screen again,,,so i tried to boot it to safestrap recovery using the volume buttons but it would only boot to kindle fire factory recovery,so i rebooted the kindle from there and back to the grey kindle fire splash screen it went, so i rebooted in to kindle recovery because safestrap was not coming up and it would only go to kindle recovery,so i hit the return the kindle to factory settings and when it was done it went back to grey kindle screen and thats all it will do,,,,when i plug it up to windows i get mtp in device manager, but the driver has an error saying device can not start error 10
and when i plug it up in ubuntu 12.04 and run lsusb in the terminal it comes up with an id and says Google Inc. but i can't get adb to recognize the kindle,,, i even checked adb with another android device to make sure it is all setup right and it worked,,,, i have read a few times in the forums here that you have recovered this device from many types of bricks and feel that if the grey kindle fire logo/splash screen is coming up that there is hope to get adb working,,,
any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance !!!!
oh and it's the kindle fire hdx 7 in tab

Kindle Fire HD 6, 4th generation boot loop

I am having an issue. Updated kindle fire 6 hd 4th gen to 5.0, downgraded to 4.5.3. Installed king root, rooted device, installed flashify, flashed openrecovery-twrp-2.8.6.0-ariel.img, rebooted. Now I am stuck rebooting . If plugged into a computer loads to the amazon logo, shuts down, loads to the logo repeat.
I have tried to fast boot by correcting drivers in device manager for the mtp whatever and constantly spamming the fast boot string.
I have used adb to see if a device ever loads and it doesn't.
Windows makes the sound that a new device is connected for about 15 seconds then will make the noise that a device has been disconnected as the fire reboots. I want to say it is a soft brick since it attempts to load and is communicating with windows to some degree. I have searched for two days and tried KFFA and an assortment of other tools. Any thoughts or assistance is greatly appreciated. It was only 60 bucks so not really worth sending it in to someone for repair. Also since it was brand new amazon is sending a replacement so this thing is now simply a toy to learn on.
When it can't get past the Amazon logo, there is no hope. OS 4.5.3 should be able to boot TWRP after OS 5.0. Where did you get the 5.0 file? Is it possible you got updated at some point?

You probably Flashified TWRP into your boot partition (instead of recovery). Since TWRP not signed, it will not boot. You can probably get into 4.5.3 recovery by pressing Pwr + Vol+ during boot, but that's not going to do you much good. Anyway, if Amazon can get you a replacement, go for it!

When I say 5.0 I am talking generic. I updated it to that version in order to downgrade the OS.

Yeah I tried that. I get reboot or erase everything and restart. Neither works.

Factory Reset without ADB etc possible?

Hello,
I own a Fire HDX Saturn 8.9 with FireOS 5.1.1 that was rooted. Unfortunately I installed Greenify and after a reboot it seemed that it blocked the launcher I installed (Nova). I got to the point where the login page should appear but there was only the FireOS background (no login page) blinking randomly without being able to make a touch input, only the hardware button work (like shutdown).
I then thought ok, I will make a factory reset with ADB and start all over. I ran "adb reboot recovery" and got to the HDX recovery screen and made a factory reset. Afterwards I rebooted but the problem still remained with the "login page" (blinking screen). Unfortunately my root and ADB got lost with this procedure and now I don't know how to get further.
How do I get to the factory recovery screen to try a factory reset again? I tried all types of boot ups (power + vol up or down; power + vol up and down) but none of them worked. As far as I have read a Fastboot cable with the Fire HDX will not help out, too.
I only have access to the file system (Android File Manager) but nothing more, at least what I know. Is there a way to upload a .bin Firmware-File and let the HDX execute it during boot-up? Or how can I make a factory reset? Is there a special code I do not know?
Now the HDX stucks at the "login page" with the blinking screen as described above. I assume it is a problem with the launcher because when I press the power button it asks if I want to shutdown and it is possible to shutdown the device. So the software itself seems to be working.

Unfortunately, You are in FireOS/HDX hell. Borked FireOS w/no adb access. Not much you can do. Even if you were able to access stock recovery a "factory reset" only erases the cache and data partitions. That's not where the problem resides. There is no mechanism on HDX devices to reset or reload FireOS. A huge oversight by Amazon that was addressed in 5th gen devices. But that doesn't help here ...
A bit more history. For several years this condition shelved/landfilled many a 3rd gen HDX. Eventually 'bulk mode' was discovered that permitted reloading the bootloader and/or rewriting the system partition in preparation for installation of a custom ROM. While it may be possible to place your device in 'bulk' mode there is no path forward from there. No one has extracted a replacement/vulnerable bootloader for Saturn not to mention the other items that would be needed for recovery. 4th gen devices are fairly rare with virtually no XDA support and development.
You can try to swipe down from the blank blinking screen with the goal of accessing settings. That might provide a path to re-enabling ADB. Beyond that you probably own an expensive paperweight.
Ok, thank you for your statement. Unfortunately I expected such an answer...

Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 stuck on black screen

I was attempting to replace my custom rom, which was Lineage OS, with the kindle fire stock OS. I was using TWRP for this. I flashed the zip file to my kindle. I then wiped everything and rebooted. This is when I was greeted with a black screen.
I think this is where I messed up. I should have flashed two zip files, but I only did one (there's a 4.5.5.5 software update and a 3.2.5 software update. I only did the 3.2.5).
The kindle still connects to my desktop, but it shows up as an unknown device, so Windows won't let me update the driver and use adb or fastboot commands (or at least I haven't figured out a way that I can). Pressing and holding the power button or any combination of buttons doesn't display anything or disconnect the kindle from my desktop, so I dont think I can turn it off or reboot it either.
I'm not sure if I would even be able to fix this, based on what I've just said. Any help would be appreciated.

You soft bricked your device with an invalid bootloader downgrade. Recovery is possible but quite challenging. Best option is to try the 1-click bootloader unlock tool. Good luck.

Kindle Fire HDX7

I hope this is the correct place for tis question....
I have received a Kindle Fire HDX 7 which is working- after a fashion. I can install and use various apps, although some system apps, such as ES File Explorer will not open. However when I switch on, the Kindle logo is all white and when I hold the power button and Volume Up button to try and enter recovery, nothing happens the Kindle logo remains on the screen. If I try to factory reset, nothing happens. When I go into fastboot, using my Android Studio SDK folder from my windows 10 laptop, either I get nothing or I get “Waiting for Device” and have to switch off the Kindle and reboot. When I go to Settings – About Phone, it tells me I have a Nexus HDX7, Build number Thor Nexus ROM v2.0.5 @ggow running Android version 4.2.2. I have downloaded the stock firmware for the Kindle (13.4.5.5_user_455004220.bin) but am completely unable to install it and restore the Kindle. Can anyone please help? Many thanks.
