Lenovo P90 Root etc. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I have a Lenovo P90, a Android phone with a Intel Atom Z5360, what is same as Asus ZenFone 2 (2GB Edition). A latest version is Android 4.4.4 with ugly Vibe UI, what i dont like it (and some other minuses). I tryied to find a some unofficial ROMs, but for this phone is not a community. So i want to make (minimaly) a clean build of Android 4.4.4. Thanks a Lenovo, is possible to download a source codes, what is big plus. So i setuped a 64-bit ubuntu with build essensials etc. etc.. But i forgoten to look how to get into a recovery. For a sample, to P70 its going by Power Button and Volume Up, but i investigated, it is a Power Button and Volume Down for boot into a droidboot. It is different version of P70, its a Droidboot 2.0, and here is enabled a Fastboot. And i think i found a Flashmode, when Power Button and Volume Up, and connected the USB, it is shows a MOOREFIELD driver, what is known from Asus ZenFone.
So, i think the best thing to do for first is a root a device and make a CWM. I think it would be possible by Fastboot, but actually i dont have any ideas where to begin.
How to start?
(im not a noob what dont know how a devices works, im a developer, but this is first time to doing a modifications into a devices)
Thanks

Here, this will get you started with the basics of building android ROMs. There are a lot of links at the bottom of the page that will take you to different parts of the building process, read them all.
http://xda-university.com/as-a-developer
If you look at the top of the page you'll see a menu tab, select it and you will find other areas that discuss the android operating system.

@GAMELASTER, have you managed to root the device and get a clean 4.4.4 rom working? I am interested if there are any good roms available for my Lenoco P90. I see some pages regarding a 6.0 rom for Lenovo but looking at the download links I really do not trust this.

Slovensky:
Ahoj, na tento telefón sa mi podarilo nájsť permanent root a temporial CWM + cleanutú ruskú ROM(aj zo slovenčinou/češtinou).
ROM: http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/14696-lenovo-p90-p90_s145_row_mld_lite/
ROOT: http://bit.ly/21moAc3
Hi, for this phone I find out he permanent root and temporial CMW/TWRP + clean russian ROM (multi-lang).
ROM: http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/14696-lenovo-p90-p90_s145_row_mld_lite/
ROOT: http://bit.ly/21moAc3
(sorry for links for another forum, but its only on this forum + its taked me a long time to find this, thanks for understand!)
With help of google I translated and I successfully rooted and installed custom rom. Its makes 600MB RAM free, what is really nice result and phone to now working really nice! It's a cleaned official ROM, so its okay!
P.S. When I hat this phone, I wanted to make an video tutorials, but only thing what I did is "prepare drivers" video tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mlse9qp5ps . Nothing more I dont have yet, maybe I foudn something. All files are available on that russian forum! Good luck!

Thanks a lot
Thanks a lot. The video shows as private. However I was able to root the phone using the instructions on http://bit.ly/21moAc3 and also to flash the new ROM according to http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/14696-..._row_mld_lite/ I ended up with a "No Service" message, but *#*#4636#*#* and the further instructions on http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1873954&nocache=1 helped to solve this. The ROM is great and root is included of course. I found another page with more ROM's, also the original ones, just in case: http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=694032&st=380 All are in Russian but Google Translate does a great job

Thanks.all work good :good:

may i ask for a help here? i have trouble with missing the content of partition (folder) "config". is there any care to help?

hello my firends! Im a new android user, bought first android phone just week ago. I have Huawei U8500 and i think it's very new model and there are very few people who have it. There's no official 2.2 or 2.3 version so im looking for ROM. I think there is no ROMs for this model yet ? But can i use ROMs which was created for other phones ? im really really hoping that someone will make 2.2 or 2.3 for this model. Thanks for answers.

To install it:
1. Unrar it to your computer, and find a folder named "dload" with the biggest size.
2. Copy that "dload" folder to root of your SD card
3. turn off phone
4. Hold volume up key + end call (red) key and the press power key. Wait for it to load, it will say something like "Updating system" Wait for it to finish, if it says fail, just try again
5. After it says "Update complete" or "Update successful" just restart your phone and you'll have the new beta firmware.
6. Reboot can take about 5 minutes. Be patient.
Do it always while charging.
Highly recommend to back up the original firmware before installing new ROM's
On your own risk. You can brick your phone and you void your phones warranty.

Hi, to load phone in recovery mode and to fulfill wipe date and a cache. I apologize for the bad English
How did you guys download this?
The only way i can see the link to proceed to download is via google translate. And when i click it i get a 404.
/Peter
You cant use google translate when clicking! Under the android guy pic, click where it says сюда, you then come to another site, just now click on a link on the page, that will take you to another page (the sponsor page), then you will se that it will start ticking the time in the top of the window, then after that you can click again and actually start the download....

Just wanted to say that this rom works awesome on my u8300.
It requires some tweaking. Change of lcd density etc. And the screen calibration isn't perfekt. But it's much faster than the stock rom so i'll stick with it.
Definetly worth a shot.
But according to a user on another forum there might be problems when you downgrade from a 8500 rom to the stock 8300. I haven't tested, so i can't really comment on that...

Thanks but there are two issues:
Is anyone wrote especial time for this device. If not how could I write my own rom. Preferably the 4.0.4.
The second one is the version of android that Mapan has. What is the android version on that rom.
And also is an English version of livesuite pack. I have one but it is chinese.
Really thanks for your answer.

Hello there,
Thanks for you your kindness.
I did flash with both rom.
Both are great mapan has some power in it. Nice governer battery. Also nice kernel defenetly no shen. More speed in it. And more organized defenetly great backbone.
And freelander sweet as a honey and smooth as a butter. Very very nice reselution. Indeed nice battery usage. Nice fonts and so much speed and agility. Defenetly compatible with EA and Gameloft games. Top speed. Thought nothing to be picky about it comes with five chinese app which are are in dalvick and can not be removed but you can freeze the sweet by titqnum backup.
I HOPE HERBY THAT FREELANDER HEARS ME AND CONTINUES TO BUILD FIRMWARE FOR FREELANDER PD60.
Please someone tell them.:silly:
Ps: mapan doesn't have any chinese or additional app.
Do you know if any other firmware matches our device?
Hello again
Ps
Mapan is clocked at 1and freelander at 1.2 but you can easy could root the newly flash device install a cpu overclocking app and change the frequency but don't go over 1.2¡¡¡¡¡¡¡
hi guys i have de freelander pd60 but i got some issues with the freelander rom on pandawill
livesuit didn't reckognise it so i can"t install it where did you find your firmwares ??
can you give me a link ?
Hello my dear friend
It is a common mistake which I did it it the last time.
You should only use what is provided by the rom company you choose.
Ie. If you want to flash the pd60 rom use the very only livesuit which they provide .
and in their livesuite, you can find the usb driver.
after you flashed, For usb debuging mode driver go to folder named usb-driver out side the livesuite not in it.
It is worth to note you could use usb driver inside the livesuite of mapan mx913 for flashing time. Only for flash not the usb debugging driver which mapan provided.
TABLET OFF VOL- then CONNECT THE TABLET TO PC then install the DRIVER
TABLET OFF, VOL+ then CONNECT THE TABLET TO THE PC to make Livesuit find the tablet

[Q] Android Devices Currently Not Supported By Cyanogenmod

Hello Guys,
Could anyone please provide some info about this case:
o What are my options if I have an Android device (smartphone) not supported by CyanogenMod?
o Is there anything than waiting until my model will be added to the supported list? I bought a very simple and reasonably priced "no-name" phone (Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM), and I learn now one disadvantage is that it is not supported.
o I also did not find anything about rooting, flashing or even booting it up into safe mode / recovery.
Any help and info is very much appreciated.

Well, here it is straight forward, your device only gets official support if the Cyanogenmod teams deems the unofficial build for it stable and reliable to gain official support. If there isn't any unofficial builds then it's safe to say that it will never have official support. As for rooting the device there may be methods for it available, a universal root for example, flashing as in roms and other things, no clue, never heard of that device before and there might not be any support for it either. So with that being said, hope this helps you.

Hi Yoelpro,
Thanks for your info. Since my first post I have managed to root my device - was very happy. It was not too easy, given that it is extremely minimal supported. I already tried TWRP with GooManager, but when I try to install an open recovery sript, surprise surprise: "no recoveries were found for your device".
Any ideas if there is another way to find one and copy it on the phone? I have to confess being too scared even trying to flash a custom ROM without flashing a backup first. I managed to find out that the stock ROM is a Vanilla on my Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM.
Thank you.

Hey there Critical Detox
Thanks for your info. Since my first post I have managed to root my device: Simvalley SP-2X.SLIM - was very happy to see that it is working.
Unfortunately, I could not even find an unofficial CM build, I'm quite sure that an official build does not exist. Interestingly, my device was once perfectly recognized as SP-2X.SLIM and once recognised as HTC (for drivers) during the rooting. I'm very curious IF or AS WHAT my device would be recognized if I started the one click install of CM. I might be a chicken, but a careful chicken as I don't want to do it before saving a backup of the stock ROM to my SD card first. When I try to install an open recovery sript (GooManager), surprise surprise: "no recoveries were found for your device". I managed to find out that the stock ROM on my device is a Vanilla 4.2.2 but could I not find this ROM to download yet.
Any help is very welcome, as I am not quite an expert and my phone is a quasi no-name model.
Cheers,
schmayer

[ROM][4.3] Color OS V1.2.0

As some of you may or may not know the Chinese version of the OnePlus One ships with Color OS and not CM 11s
Here is the stock Color OS Rom from the Chinese version of the OnePlus One. Version 1.20 Build A0001_12_140521
What has been changed?
A lot of the Chinese apps have been removed (some still have the Chinese language like the Themes app)
GAPPS have been addded (Chinese phones do not have Google Play Services)
Rooted + busy box
red OnePlus splash screen
added more locale 2
This can be flashed in TWRP but it's not a standard update.zip. This is a system and boot image but it's flashed via dd commands in recovery. Just flash in TWRP as you normally would but it will take longer to flash (about 5 minutes)
perform a data wipe if coming from CM 11s
IF you want Google now to work, right after you flash and boot into android run the more locale app and select English US BEFORE setting up your Google account or opening Google Now.
THE ROM ONLY SUPPORTS ENGLISH AND CHINESE
Link: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23501681358542179
To go back to CM 11 use the fastboot Images in my thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765455
Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you use this and brick your device or if your device blows up, implodes, flames start shooting from it, or it kills your neighbor's dog.. It was the other guy... I swear.... Flash at your own risk

I'm confused.. The rom doesn't touch the bootloader so if you flashed it you should still have the cm bootloader. It just flashes the system and boot images. I've gone back and forth between Cm 11s and color os at least 10 times in testing without issue.

Why are you sorry? So no has the phone so I shouldn't release anything? Are you actually complaining that there is a dev going on for a device that no one has yet? Usually people complain when there is too little dev... Not when there is dev before masses have the phone...

I'm glad to have a dev and a Color OS rom already
I've received mine yesterday and yeah, I'm curious for trying out ColorOS
but before I'm gonna root and flash it I have some questions
1. which languages are supported? german?
2. are there any issues with the flash process, I'm asking because you downgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.3 :/
3. can you use xposed? like gravitybox and things

1. Only English and Chinese.
2. No, no issues. Just make sure you do a full wipe
3. xposed modules work. Gravity Box is geared more for AOSP/Stock based roms. I did use GB to enable the on screen nav though that at least works.

I see, thanks for the reply!
do you use it as your daily driver or better question, do you prefer it over cm?
and another question is,
except of some things this colorOS version is the same as it is on the Find 7,right?
Do you think it is possible to extract the languages from it?
thanks!
Edit: I'm already rooted since today, thanks to your instructions in the oneplus forum
Hey guys, just got my OPO today. Was wondering if I flash this after making a backup, can I restore from my previous CM backup. I would assume so, but just checking. Thanks.

I would say you can just flash your back up, if you are on twrp or cwm.
But the One has a modified recovery and in the first post you can see, that you need fast boot and an .img to get back
However, better waiting for an answer from Mr. Hill
btw it's time to change your sig
should receive mine today sad had to pay a little xtra for it , i hope it was well worth it..will be flashing this soon i receive it, dying to try color rom i try everything but that

@graffixnyc Did you took the rom from the Chinese OnePlus One?
Because I found this in the "special thanks" section,
however it shows all these languages, you think it's possible to get them? I'm sure the find 7 support all these languages since there's an international version, maybe you could port it or so?
I'm just asking if it's possible, I don't understand much in porting roms and things
Edit: how did you disabled the capacitive buttons? I've enabled the navbar with gravitybox but the other buttons are still there

Ulefone Power 3 - ROOT

hi all,
i am trying to find information on how to root my ulefone power 3.
sadly google and the forum here dont show me anything that works.
looking forward to some feedback.
thanks
Hello from me
I am looking to root ulefone power 3 as well.
And I am looking for something else as well
- how to swap the onscreen buttons
- how to unlock with double tap
- how to take pictures with the slr bokeh feature using both cameras. The stock camera app doesn't offer any option
- which is the best camera apk to do that
THANK YOU
I want to give root a chance to help you. Only 2 of the cameras work like this.
What I have managed until now is to unlock the bootloader.
@Onur895, not sure what you mean sorry
I will try to compile TWRP for the Ulefone Power 3 tomorrow, if I manage to do it, I will update you.
I unlock the bootloader, but I can not root.
Stock ROM
Hi everyone!
I've got the Stock ROM from Ulefone's support (this is the link they gave me, I didn't reupload it): https://mega.nz/#F!9zAQQSLI!3iK_x-grclSOGZMMiW8DVw
Make sure to compare the checksums after downloading, the first time I downloaded the file, system.img was corrupted... luckily, I noticed.
About TWRP: I've tried my best, I've failed. Sorry!
Hi Lucavon,
Thanks for uploading the stock ROM - is this literally Android stock without Ulefone's added stuff?
And DANKE für trying the TWRP --> this is what would enable us to root afterwards right?
Lucovon bu verdiğiniz link twrp mi? Toptan nasıl atarım yardımcı olur musunuz?

Aye!
I got this stock ROM directly from Ulefone's support team after emailing them; this is the link they gave me, I didn't upload anything. So, this is the ROM the phone comes with by default - however, the recovery is set to Chinese because they sent me the Chinese version of the ROM, so keep that in mind when using it.
I sadly failed to compile TWRP, and yep, if I got TWRP to work I would probably be able to use it to install Magisk to root the phone.
TWRP itself is just a custom recovery but it allows for flashing things, such as SuperSU or Magisk.

Sorry, I don't speak Turkish, but according to Google Translate, you asked whether the link I sent is TWRP... The answer is no, the link I provided is a download link for the Stock ROM I got from Ulefone's support team.
