Rugged cases - Zuk Z1 Accessories

Been looking for a good quality very protective case for the phone (buying this soon) as most seem to be the very flimsy wallet style cases than offer no protection whatsoever.
Found these 2 so far:

Amazon (UK) : DWay Lenovo ZUK Z1 Armor Case Hybrid Design Detachable and Stand-up Feature Dual Layer Protective Shell Hard Back Case Cover for Lenovo ZUK Z1 5.5inches
Loads of colours, has the excellent Soft TPU + Hard PC = Dual Layer protection including the foam rubber at the corners which means if you drop it on it's corner it usually bounces a little and won't damage it. It also has a lip which will protect the screen if you drop it face down onto a flat surface, obviously dropping it on the corner of a table or similar surface will smash the screen but no case will protect against that. A lot of people don't like these cases because they bulk up a phone which should be "thin and stylish" but to be honest, I'd rather have a safe phone than worry about how it looks. I had a very similar case previously for my Nexus 4 and they are excellent at protecting your phone, I dropped the Nexus 4 a few times (sometimes while inebriated ) and it never got damaged at all in a very similar case to this.
On sale at the moment for £5.99 (Supposedly normally £19.99)
Ebay: AMZER DUAL LAYER RUGGED HYBRID WARRIOR KICKSTAND CASE FOR LENOVO ZUK Z1 - BLACK
Similar case on ebay, looks to have the same build type but next to no info and looks to be only available in black.
On sale for US $6.36 (Approximately £4.19)
They both have lockable kickstands if you like watching videos or listening to music on your phone, I've never really been big on doing so.
I think I'll be going with the first one and try to find a good tempered glass protector but I'm not fond of these as they usually make you lose a bit of functionality/responsiveness on the touch screen.
I had a look on Otterbox too (www.otterbox.co.uk) but there's nothing for this phone, it is quite a standard form factor though and is similar to the LG phones, namely the G4 (which has 2 Otterbox cases), I think the dimensions and button placement are very similar, has anyone tried a G4 case on this phone or another similar case?

That's the case I'm waiting on. Went for the all black. Got an imak to tide me over but it is rubbish. That case is ugly IMO but for protection it's the best out there. Got my glass screen protection today of Amazon. Not a bubble. Fits a bit short but the holes are spot on. I'm in uk too. No way is that £20 normally

Oh the screen protection is called HD from kingfishing and no loss of touch 5quid Amazon
That's the problem with these phones. The big players with stylish designed cases are not interested. Like you easy protection over looks. My motto too. Always had case and glass screen protection and never broken one yet, despite some big drops where the protection has cracked but not the screen.

I bought one of those cases from Ebay listed as "3D 2in1 Grenade Grip Skip-Proof Rugged Warrior Hard Case TPU Cover KickStand" from a seller called "easysales111" It only cost £2.99 but took a few weeks to turn up from China. It's OK, a bit fuggly but with a certain rugged charm. Not a rubbery as I would like but grippy enough to hold easily. £2.99 is about right.
I did have a very nice dark wood effect case that I got from a seller on Aliexpress - it looked lovely - well lovely until the finish rubbed off in my pocket - hence my choice of the rugged case.

Review: Cimo Technologies Matte TPU Case

Packaging:
Cimo presents the case in a dazzle free fair. The case is delivered in a simple plastic wrapping with the all to familiar cardboard cutout of a Note sitting in it. I don't think extravagant packing is needed for a case, and in theory, the less they spend on the packaging, the less the consumer pays for the product.
Aesthetics and Construction:
The case is made up of two layers: a high gloss black 'upper' that surrounds the top portion of the case and circles the screen and a matte 'lower' that protects the lower half and back of the phone. The material feels durable and does provide some texture that the nude Note doesn't have. The case extends over the lip around the phone and extends a touch above the screen for protection. Installation is a breeze. The case fits well on the Note and has very little play- something hard cases often can't offer. The ports are accessible and the cutouts for the S-pen, speaker, camera, and flash are lined up well.
The one drawback is that like most other TPU cases there are 'tags' left on this case that are left from when the case was molded. These do protrude from the case more than what I would have liked, but can easily be removed with a blade.
Overall Function:
First and foremost a case is there to protect the phone, and with my experience so far I think this case will perform well. There looks to be a good balance between thickness and protection which is a plus since no one wants to add too much bulk to their phones. The raised edge allows those who don't have a screen protector to set the phone face down and have a little extra security that the screen will be unharmed.
Unfortunately, this case is still a little too thick on the bottom to allow successful function with the Samsung Desktop Dock. Although the phone will sit in the cradle, the USB plug cannot span the extra distance the case puts between it and the port.
Verdict:
I've used quite a bit of TPU cases on my devices in the past and generally the experience has been a mixed bag. Cimo's offering, on the other hand, seems like a well made worthy choice. It's minimal heft, good fit, solid protection, and fingerprint resistant matte finish makes a strong case to be your next purchase
Gallery:
I actually have been using a tpu case from them also, same look just glossy black. They are great fiting tpu cases. I have a friend buying one for his nexus now also. I would recommend them for sure.

Looks like the case covers half of the speaker on the back of the device judging by one of the pics you've posted here.

Yes, I noticed that pic looked funny. I was swapping a few cases at the time and must not have got the case on perfectly when that pic was shot. When installed right the speaker is not obscured (although the cut out is a touch oversized).
Thanks for pointing that out.

Cheap, Brilliant Ginmic Bumper Case Review!

So after hours of searching for a metallic bumper case that was premium and protective I came across this Chinese bumper case brand which I had low expectations of but it was cheap so I bought it.
After a 14 day wait for it to come from China to the UK, it came in a mediocre but secure packaging which consisted of a box and a plastic wallet to hold the bumper case alongside a screwdriver and a pair of spare screws for the bumper case. Enough rambling now lets get to the case

So as you can see from the stupidly large images above which i'm not bothered to make smaller , the case comes in two pieces which are secured together with screws, IMO I like this because it reduces the the risk of scratching the device (an awful experience i have had with previous bumper cases with one securing point with past phones) while also giving that manly look . Speaking for the durability of the case it is awesome as the bumper case can withstand knock multiples times without succumbing to a single mark though i have not dropped my S7 on concrete yet i'm sure it should protect it well. Alongside my dBrand skin and this bumper case I have noticed that this phone has drastically got more grippier than my S7 bare or with a Spigen Thin Fit case. The I/O at the bottom are all still accessible with the all headphones and USB cables I have used so far. To end off the pros, DAMN this case looks awesome on the S7 as it really brings out the "curves" of the device.
To end off the only thing I would like to see an improvement in will be for the protection of the camera bump by making the side lip larger so it does not have to bear the brunt of a surface, but this would be impossible without damaging the sleekness of the case. Overall I definitely recommend it!

I've had something similar for Nexus 5 and the signal would drop significantly.
The S7 has all the antennas on the side, how is the reception with the bumper vs without ?

To be short reception is hit hard as without I had usually 4 bars (indoors) and 5 (out) now its significantly less usually 2-3 bars.
BUT I still have access to 4G and to my usage the change reception did not impact performance when using the case.

Review: SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle Series Premium Hybrid Protective Frost Clear Case

Let me introduce to you my absolute favorite case, not just for the S8, but for many Smartphones that I have owned over the years. Long before I became a fan of these cases I was in love with the (UAG) Urban Armor Gear cases, that was until they didn't support a new smartphone that I had purchased. Like many of you I went out seeking a case that I liked, often buying a dozen cases or more since they were relatively cheap and easy to return thanks to Amazon, but once I found this gem I knew my search was over.
Supcase is now the first brand I go to for a case whenever I get a new smartphone and I was devastated when they didn't make one for my HTC 10 so I was forced to pay more for a similar product, Incipio's Octane case. The main reasons for me choosing this case over other similar cases are the look and feel, but the price is very nice as well. Compared to other similar cases I find the grip to be perfect and it doesn't grip to your pocket either. It seemingly adds no bulk (probably the thickness of a nickel on both sides and back) and it literally kept me from taking my S8 back and exchanging it for the S8+ due to it feeling too skinny in my hand. With this case on it has a very ergonomic feel and fits perfect!
The buttons are not any more or less responsive than a naked S8 and are easily found... and so is the horrible Bixby button unfortunately lol. This is a hybrid-type case with the edges around the case consisting of a very durable shock-absorbing TPU that is molded to a hard polycarbonate backing. Drop protection is excellent and exceeds military shock standards which comes at no surprise. It has raised edges to protect your screen when placed on a flat surface and the cutouts are sizeable enough to fit any plug you may have.
Overall it's a very good case.
http://a.co/5ldVaTJ (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XHFP7P3)
EDIT: Just to clarify on the thickness because some people say it 'looks' bulky... It only adds roughly 2mm of thickness to the sides. Of course the corners are roughly 4mm, but that's where you want more protection anyway. This is FAR from a bulky case IMO. For those in the states, like myself, 2mm is almost halfway between 1/8th and 1/16 of an inch.

It's not bulky at all. Don't knock it til you try it. As I said in my review it only adds about the thickness of a nickel to the sides. It's only $12.99 on Amazon.
EDIT: I just measured the thickness and it's halfway between 1/8th and 1/16th of an inch or approximately 2mm of thickness that is added to the sides.
This is always what I start with as my go to case also. It may not look the best but the in hand feel and grip is perfect. Wish they had a clear back version.

They do, but the style is different I personally don't mind the frosted back and it's not a fingerprint magnet like the clear cases which would arguably look worse lol. It also does a great job covering up any scuffs and scratches that happen over time... something the clear ones simply can't do.

The design of the OnePlus 5 aluminium bumper means that you are still able to see the majority of your gorgeous OnePlus 5 at all times.

What do you think?
Comes in Gold, Red, Silver and Purple.
Not sure how much drop protection an aluminium bumper would provide though, not much I would guess.

Silver: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/luphie-sword-oneplus-5-aluminium-bumper-case-silver-p64323.htm (Have to admit that looks damn sexy)
Purple: http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/luphie-sword-oneplus-5-aluminium-bumper-case-purple-p64324.htm
Honestly not a massive fan. Doesn't seem like it would actually do anything bar change how the phone falls. Doesn't seem like it will protect is from small "cosmetic" damage either
The line "The case also features cut-outs for the ports and features of the OnePlus 5, including the dock connector and camera." Make me laugh a bit, I wouldn't being able to charge and take photos with your phone a feature
Apparently they had a similar case for the 3/3T...
Yeah, I think this is style more than function, cancelled my order of the aluminium one and ordered the rhinoshield instead, it is still a very nice looking bumper.

I would have ordered RhinoShield if there's one for 5t. So, I was looking at this one but have read GPS issues on it. Still torned since I have no choice if I'd like to just feel the dBrand skin while protected at the same time
I very like bumper cases, and this aluminium case is sexy.
But from my experience, metal cases reduce antenna reception. On my old LG G Pro, the GPS reception was almost @ 0 with a metal bumper.
Could be different with newer phones, I can't tell since I don't own a metal case.
It was slim, nice feel in the hand, and it even got some rubber pad inside the case. I assume that protection level was not great, but not bad either.
Not at that price for a bumper.
Bought it and use it for a few week.gps, wifi and data seems a bit weaker.gps is definitely getting worst. Loose lock every few kilometer . Swap out with rhinoshield, everything went back to normal. But it look really nice though.

Got this case a few days ago. Design is beautiful. If you have a skin, the clear back shows it off nicely. Back plastic is really hard. Feels like glass almost. You can tell it's a high quality case. It does not feel cheap and my phone feels protected. Great front bezel/lip rise. Power and volume buttons are clicky which is always nice. Ultimately it feels great in the hand.
A few things to think about though.
Since the back is clear hard plastic that means it is a finger print/dust magnet. I constantly have to wipe it down. Also I placed it in my pocket for 10 minutes and I guess moisture caused a pretty big rainbow spot on the back.
The sides are smooth so it doesn't have the best grip. It can slide out of your hands if you aren't careful.
Although the buttons are clicky one thing that isn't too great is that they are flush to the case and the groove indicators are not that deep so more times than I'd like, I see myself lowering the volume when I wanted to increase the volume.
Lastly it adds bulk, but not on the level of a rugged style case. I also have a Spigen Liquid Air case that is just a tpu and this Supcase is noticeably bulkier and heavier.
But ultimately it is a case I would recommend. Dropped my phone on tile floor and of course the phone was fine but the case didn't have a scratch on it.
I've ordered a few cases, including the official OnePlus bumper case, and the SupCase is the one I like best. It's been on my phone basically since I got it. As you you mentioned the only real downside I've found is the volume buttons, it's hard to tell which one you are pushing at times. Other than that, a great case, at a great price.
Got this case as soon as I got the phone. It's gorgeous, it's protective, even saved it for me nasty spell. But I would safe because of the buttons being flush it's hard to find them really easily. Other than that it really has been an awesome case, thanks to everyone for recommending this case.

i recently bought this case too
- i like that the flush side buttons don't get caught up when taking it out of my pocket
- and yes kinda hard to identify the vol up and down buttons sometimes - maybe a raised ridge in the middle of the buttons would have helped to tell them apart
- the sides have a slight rubbery feeling - not very grippy but still acceptable - it might appear slippery if your hands are very dry
- moving from the original tpu case that it came with - the extra bulk is noticeable but does not hinder usage unless you have small hands - it is a tad bit harder to reach the top parts of the screen
- i still have the protective film at the back of the casing on - LOL - so i can't tell how smudgy it is going to get
now my question is - what tgsp are you guys using ? i am still on the original film protector that came with it and want to change to tgsp but not sure which one will fit nicely with this case.

Any should fit fine. I'm using the official OnePlus 3D one on mine. I just put a SuperShieldz 3D one on my friends 6T with the case a couple weeks ago. She hasn't had issues either.
I tried this one on op6 and couldn't live with the buttons.
Office karbon is my favorite so far. Got a decent open box deal on eBay for my op6t 18$ free ship. Item was new.
