What calendar app are you using? - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I was using Sunrise. Really enjoyed the look / feel of it, and liked the fluid feel between the web UI and the Android App.
Well, Microsoft owns Sunrise, and plans to meld it into Outlook, and discontinue support for Sunrise.
Presently I am sitting on the default Google Calendar. Its good, but wanted to see what others use and why.
So, what do you use for your calendar and why?
Thanks for your input.

[VOTE] Facebook software with iPhone's GUI and BlackBerry's feature.

You know moTweets right?
The super cheap Twitter client (only US$3.99) that Panoramic Software developed.
It has a very nice GUI like iPhone, got complete and perfectly-working feature as well.
And this morning I asked Panoramic to develop Facebook application as well, since there is no single good/decent Facebook application for WinMo yet.
Even the M$' Facebook app is suck and not working right. It even can't fetch the stream by itself, need manual refresh.
The other simply used the cropped version (mobile version) of NewsFeed, not the complete one like BlackBerry's.
I asked them to make Facebook application for WinMo with nice GUI like moTweets and the functionality like Facebook for BlackBerry.
And here's their answer to my idea (we had conversation via Twitter) @PanoramicSoft: "We will definitely consider creating a Facebook app for WinMo. Thanks."
So, just tweet them and give them a vote.
They're surveying whether they need to develop this app or not.
Don't vote here, just send a tweet to @PanoramicSoft or email them at [email protected].
I'm not Panoramic's affiliate. I'm just the satisfied customer that use their moTweets application. And I want to share the idea here so if you all want a good/decent Facebook app, this is the solution.
Or, as I put in the other thread where you mentioned this, use the Microsoft developed Facebook client.

Yup, but that program is a dead program, no further development (stuck in 1.0.0.7p for long time), very slow, can't even do simple basic task (live news feed like the Blackberry's), can't fetch notification, and so many more bugs that rendering it useless...
Up you go! Be the first post in Dev&Hack...
yeah. MS has a crappy client for facebook. half the time I dont get my messages or even look at my profile.
What is it with microsoft. I thought thay paid a **** load for facebook and thay can't make a good app. Saw the new one on my mates I-phone the other day and it was cool.So I'm up for this.
Yeah, that's why, I suggest Panoramic Soft to make one with great interface like moTweets.
They're taking votes now, so just drop an email to [email protected] or tweet them via twitter: @PanoramicSoft
Coz I'm not Panoramic's people. I'm just their satisfied customer. ^^
If the vote is sufficient, They'll start developing the app for Facebook.
Up! Up! Up! Make this post to the first page. Let peoples know about this..

Yupz... Just need a vote to make them start developing the Facebook apps.
And I think peoples in XDA-Devs not really interested in Facebook.

Yup, please help me forwarding this. I'm currently sending an email to all my Facebook friends, Twitter followers, and all of the forum I'm currently in.
Thanks for the support.. Hope that we can get a decent Facebook apps.
Im in the same boat as you all guys. WM needs a good Facebook apps. The one from MS sucks!
Not only sucks, the one from MS isn't counted as an app at all for me.. I even uninstall it after first use.. It even lack basic auto-refresh feature, not to mention about live-feed... I think that MS' programmers can't even make live-feed feature for Facebook app... Or maybe they don't know how to utilize Facebook's API..
you know ever since I started using Mini5 i kinda fell off the boat as far as using facebook goes. My facebook is sync'd to my yahoo account which I'm using push for. My favorites(which opera mini has that looks like google chrome) has iphone facebook account page saved which has a very slick and usable UI. So its really just one push of the button from the internet. I dunno...if I were to want anything it would be more like the X1's facebook panel which is really nice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eAtiCEE3hDQ and I actually liked it back when i was running the panels on my HD.
No need to copy innovation when you can port it.
you could go to x.facebook.com in opera mobile, works perfectly on my touch pro, but i agree, an app would be nice, especially if its like the xperia one, i sent a request to them.

[Q] Kaiten Mail = Tablet version of K-9 Mail - Anybody tried it?

Kaiten Mail = Tablet version of K-9 Mail - Anybody tried it?
http://www.amazon.com/K-9-Dog-Walkers-Kaiten-Mail/dp/B004UBB1G2
From Amazon Market:
Product Description
Kaiten Mail is an advanced email client for Android. Building on the excellent open-source base provided by K-9 Mail, Kaiten offers a fresh user interface re-imagined for tablets and high-resolution phones.
Built by K-9's original developer, Kaiten is simpler, easier to work with and a whole lot prettier. Frequently used commands are now available in the application's action bar. If you have the screen real-estate, Kaiten's split-screen view lets you see a mailbox and individual messages side-by-side.

this is exactly what ive been looking for! thanks for this!
Just bought it... so far, so good. I have not tested it with Exchange yet (I never could get K-9 working on our exchange server.)
Otherwise, the email preview pane is a good fit for the Nook (CM7) and even gives it a bit of an Outlook feel.
Until either Kaiten or K9 support Exchange 2010, these are a no go.

Yeah, I can authenticate my exchange server, but no push email and I can't seem to properly pull email either.
K-9 scales pretty well on the nc, how does this compare to it?

Yeah, I went ahead and got it. Better email client than the stock CM7 email, nice tablet layout and does push all for $5. Hopefully they will get true Exchange support in the near future so that I can use one email app for all my needs that is in tablet form (using Touchdown right now - Great app, wish they'd add imap support).
Ceger
Good find...much nicer than either the stock email/gmail clients. Having the split-pane is what I liked about the email client in Honeycomb, which was lost once I went to CM7. Working well for me thus far (esp like option for a "Dark" theme) and not a bad price for $5.
Thanks for the input. I have been using K-9 for over a year now. Happy to support them with $5 and it certainly is worth it on the NC.
Purchased and installed. Similar to K-9 in settings and setup. Working great for my accounts. Much better interface with split pane, especially in landscape.
I like it!
I love k9 email on my NC but it is not truly a 100% offline email app (wont cache images). I get a lot of deal emails and only have time to read them on my lenghty bus ride to work.
To do this now. I have to tether to my evo which is extremely slow and wastes most of my time I feel. I'm barely using any of my emmc space and this would be an excellent use of this.
Will this cache images in HTML emails? Would this be a difficult feature to implement? (would make it in my interest to buy the app and see if the developer could add that as an option)
Thanks guys, I'm mainly looking to make my nook more offline friendly so I don't have to rely on slow tether/mobiles data speeds.

Just downloaded it, and am luvin' it so far - especially the split pane in landscape mode. Definitely a keeper! Better than K9.

TouchDown is, however, a HORRID HORRID interface. I can't stand it. I'd rather use the browser. Seriously.

Are you sure it's by the folks who do K9 right now, or just one of the guys who used to work on it? I'm reading it as if it's one of the folks who used to work on it, ie: You're not supporting the free K9. But not that it's a big deal either way.. I might ask them about it, I hang in their channel all day anyway

Using that for Exchange and Kaiten for Gmail. Like having tablet style software, but would prefer to run one email app with the tablet layout features.
Ceger
bought it form Amazon figured with all the free daily apps, I owed them.
Seems to work well. Not sure I understand the polling/exchange setup well. I have exchange setup and there is mail in my inbox.
Is it in fact doing push? or must I manually check mail compared to touchdown which only does exchange but does push
Following up on Kaiten Mail, yes indeed, this is a commercial branch of K9 and will at some point in the future be maintained as parallel branches. I can only assume at this point that K9 and Kaiten will retain the same functionality and Kaiten will get additional work on top of that for GUI and usability.
IMO K9 is just fine as-is, it's not flashy but it doesn't have to be. That said, Kaiten does look nice on my tablet. A few bugs to work out in it (hello splitters, stay where I put you!) but otherwise it looks really nice.
Hey gang,
I'm responsible for Kaiten and indeed was also responsible for K-9 coming into existence.
To the poster who asked, no, I'm not a former K-9 developer - I'm still the project dictator
I initially branched Kaiten from K-9 as part of a project I was doing for an OEM who wanted a "commercial" tablet-style mail client for their Froyo tablets. I can't say for sure when Kaiten's features will make their way back into K-9, but they will. If you're particularly desperate to play around, the current version of the Kaiten code (without the branding and under the same Apache2 license as K-9) is in K-9's git repository in a topic branch somewhere under experimental/

Calendar app with Pen support (quill like)

Anybody know a calendar application with pen support?
Don't need to sync with google or anything like this. I just would love to be able to see a calendar like one of those paper wall calendars and be able to write notes on it with pen, draw, cross days etc. The usual stuff that people do with wall calendars. Ability to add reminders would be nice to have, but not super important.
I wonder if something like this already exists. If it doesn't, I think it will be a great idea for a creator of Quill. What do you think?

A desk calendar style app that allowed this would be super cool. I'd love to see it myself.
Apparently the note has something like this. It would just have to be ported.

I checked it out, but S planner is more like usual calendar app. It just works with note app to recognize the text (if it can) and import event into planner.
What would be cool to have is a month/week overview, where you could just tap on a day and make the entry in the calendar in a quill style. Just think of a paper calendar. Sometimes it is just nice and comfy to be able to draw and write a simple stuff in there. You could cross the days when you been sober, put smiley faces when you had sex, add handwritten notes to the past and future evens. At the end of the week/month you could take a quick overview and remember how you spent your time or do a report

Really good ideas, but for someone who uses their Google calendar, a totally new app like this would require me to switch entirely ...at which point, I'd likely have to use only my tablet for a calendar.
A tangentially related idea I had for this quill developper was a widget that you could place on your desktop and that could be scribbled on. That's a little like what you're asking.

You're right. An app like this will be for tablet only and will not have sync with google calendar (but maybe could be saved to evernote). If you're a busy person and everyday is booked, then usual calendar app is a lifesaver. In my mind though one shoudn't replace the other. Google calendar great to keep your appointments, birthdays and important dates and is accessible from any device. Notes can be entered there, but they sort of blend in the whole thing and they are not very natural. I find notebook is a lot easier to follow if you need to write and find something worth noting that happened one day or another. For example you have your appointment tracked in google calendar, it will remind you that you need to be there, you will go and meet people. Notes from the meeting are better kept is a separate notebook along with any sketches or anything like this, rather than google calendar. I could keep and organize those notes in several quill notebooks, but chronological order is lost, can't really enter an info, specific to a future or a past date, an overview for weekly/monthly report is not so simple.
Maybe it is better not to think of it as a calendar replacement, but rather a calendar book or a planner. Quill (or other note apps that I found so far) just don't have organization of a calendar (planner) and google calendar doesn't have functionality of a good notebook.

That's not what I had in mind at all. There is already a note app with a widget. It is a standard HTC note app. As a matte of fact it is the only widget that I have on my Flyer's desktop. It is not as good for writing notes as Quill, but it works and is easy to keep track of important information right on the android desktop. Evernote sync gives me ability to put that same important note on the desktop of my PC - works great as a sticky. I also use Color note on a phone, for those important stickies on a go (too bad there is no sync there)
I use both Quill and HTC notes. HTC notes are great for important stuff that I need to keep track of. Quill has replaced a general notebook for me and helped me to get rid of paper clutter. I love my Flyer. That's the first tablet that helped me to organize my messy desk.
i've only had my flyer for a couple of weeks but i agree that this is a brilliant idea.
it would be nice to scribble things in on certain dates and times.
i wish someone takes this idea up and runs with it
I am currently starting to develop for my flyer. At the moment doing a little paint app with pen support which behaves like a pencil.
From what I hear, you just want a plain paper based calendar and than use notifications etc.? So it could have a link to the normal calendar for those features. Should not a biggie. Will think abou that.
Nice idea .

[Q] Notes & Reminders for Android?

Does any one know of a free notes and reminders app for Android? Preferably one that is very simple and doesn't do much more than take notes that you write or paste in it, and send notifications to remind you of stuff at a set time. Kind of like what you have on iOS. Having the ability to sync with your Google Account/ Gmail would be a plus. I have been waiting for this to come natively to Android for some time.
If I can't find something like this. I would like to embark on a personal project to create and publish an app or apps that do notes and reminders easily. I would appreciate any help I can get on the way. Thanks.

Just use the calendar, its simple and syncs with whatever you want it to. Theres a notepad app in the market as well for notes.
evernote
I had not tried evernote in a while. I just tried it and the UI is much improved now, so I guess I'll be using it. Thanks! I would like if it did reminders though. I like seeing all my to-dos together separate from my calendar.

[Q] What do you guys use for GMail?

Hey there
Hope I'm not being too daft here, I just got my ex girlfriend's Lumia 800 as my Galaxy S2 died and I don't see any new phone I want to buy on the market today.
I really like this phone, and the W7 interface is by far the slickest I've seen.
One thing I'm having trouble with is the email app which doesn't discriminate between "Primary", "Social", "Promotions", "Updates", and "Forums" labels in GMail.
This is pretty important to me, as I get a lot of email in non-critical labels, and I'd prefer my phone mail app to focus on the "Primary" label as I'm accustomed to with the GMail app on Android.
I know Google aren't making a GMail app for Windows Phone (yet), and it seems the "MetroMail" app which might help is only for Windows Phone 8...?
Are you guys using anything that allows you to focus on the Primary label in GMail, and if so, what?
Thanks in advance,
Daniel
