I can get my computer to recognize fastboot, but when I try to unlock the bootloader to flash twrp the phone reboots and just stays on the 1+ logo. Help!
Try this....boot into recovery by vol - and power button then format... But u will lose data
On the prelimanary steps here, where are you ?
Did you enable Android debugging?
Are you talking about SA in Root section of the tuto?
- Go intoDeveloper Options and enable bootloader unlocking

Still looking for help. I was about to send a fastboot command to "continue" and the phone boots. However, any time that the phone has to reboots (manually or otherwise) or I power down the phone. The phone will not boot. It stays on the oneplus logo. I have to then put the phone into fastboot... connect to my computer ... send fastboot continue command then it boots. Help.

1) Are you on custom ROM or original Oxygen ROM?
2) Did you enabled developer options? If so did you enabled USB debugging?
3) Also as someone asked you in previous post on which step you are on while flashing twrp?
4) Try Wiping cache/dalvik cache?
Using stock rom and I was never able to flash twrp. I did enable developer options and debugging. Also unlocked bootloader, but when I try to flash in fasboot it says that the bootloader is locked.
How do I wipe cache and devalk?

Did you enable "OEM unlock" in dev options as well??
Also, what version of TWRP are you trying to flash??
Unlocked bootloader in developer options. When I try to unlock in fasboot the phone reboots and just stays on 1+ logo. I have tried flashing 2.8.7.0 onyx, but have zero success.

The bootloader unlock shouldn't be this difficult. Maybe a format is needed and probably reinstall the drivers in your computer.
Good luck.
I have exactly the same problem as OP posted. I am stuck in 1+ screen, it doesn't boot into system, I've tried to reboot it via adb but still the same. Out of ideas.

Just got the phone, unlocked through HTCDev, installed recovery through Toolkit, but can't actually boot into recovery. I tried all of the recoveries available (TWRP, CWM, CWM Touch) but once I select reboot into recovery, it reboots, gets to the HTC logo screen, something appears on the top edge of the screen, it reboots and boots normally. Did I do something wrong?

I just tried flashing TWRP manually (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img) and it still does the same. I renamed the img file to recovery.img, so it's not that.
Try redownloading the file from the url above. Maybe it was a bad file download?
Also try different micro usb cables and usb ports. Reinstall the drivers just things like that

reason I asked was maybe there is a bug when selecting reboot into recovery thought it was worth a try to enter it a different way
Fixed it by selecting "Factory Reset" in the bootloader menu--went straight to recovery.
I had the same problem and was able to resolve it by turning off fast boot in the power settings screen.
Im having the same issue with every recovery I flash. Obviously im not a noob and can flash stuff. Im just boggled because everybody is reporting flashing internation stuff just fine. The recoveries don't work for me. Can someone direct link me to the recovery they flashed on their att version?

my nephew was having the same issue as well and never got it boot to recovery. while i was troubleshooting, i discovered he was using the recovery for the Sprint version. ugh!!! i got the international version and manually flashed it (fastboot flash recovery recovery.img, fastboot reboot-bootloader) and then tried to enter recovery with no success. I rebooted to bootloader again, selected factory reset, and the phone rebooted normally. tried the adb reboot recovery command, phone reboots, i see a window flash in the background with red writing at the bottom, and then it boots normally. i've done this 5 times with no luck. any suggestions?

I have tried all of these methods. I have flashed the recovery, all of them, repeatedly and my phone will only show unlocked. I have used the All in One as well as manually flashing the recovery as well. but my phone never switches to *TAMPERED*. Any advice?
I had this happen on my other One tonight. I had flashed the recovery via fastboot about 15 times and it wasn't working until I let it reboot to OS and then I adb reboot bootloader and magically it showed TAMPERED. Just keep doing the steps over and over again and eventually it'll work. After it finally took TWRP I was able to change it for CWM Touch with no issues.
Disabling HTC Fast boot did it for me!
I have an AT&T HOX+, and I recently unsuccessfully tried to root it.
After failing, I relocked it without enabling USB Debugging. Now I can't connect it to my PC and it's just stuck in fastboot.
I also can't boot into recovery. The only options are hboot, reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down.
Is there anyway to fix it without going into an at&t store?

There are Tutorials in the HTC One X+ General forum, where everything you need to know is written down, so i won't try to explain it all in here...
These should not be that hard to find and after reading you should know how to get your device working again.

Try booting in fastboot mode and see - I guess it will connect,
Although I am not an expert, but I think USB Debugging comes into play after ROM is booted...
Also, as per your signature, your kernel is:

Are you sure you have the correct kernel - just for a check install the kernel that came with the ROM. AFAIK the ATT kernel is experimental...

No as of now there is no RUU available at the moment.
If you just check a thread I have started I had the same problem. Here is what I did:
While on Fastboot - used hasoon's tool kit to re unlock the boot loader. It failed a few times but then it ultimately succeeded. You need to be on either hboot or fastboot to unlock the bootloader not in recovery....
BTW have you actually tried the toolkit?
Hope you have the unlock_code.bin in root of the toolkit...

I am assuming you have installed the hTC drivers. Using hTC Sync or other method?
Is it showing in device manager?
What is your OS?
If it is showing as unknown device then you may try Koush's universal ADB driver.
Another thing does "fastboot devices" shows you anything?
It is really weird, because I did these steps and it just worked for me....

Don't use toolkits they cause more issues than they solve.... Connect your device to your PC, open a command prompt, navigate to your fastboot folder and type in "fastboot devices" If it gives you back your devices S/N, your good to go. If not reinstall HTC Sync manager.... I don't see why you can't enable usb debugging on a bootloader locked device though....They have nothing to do with each other afaik....

Hello Guys,
I was trying to install OxygenOS 3.1.0 when I was on Sultanxda's CM13 but instead bricked the device.
What I did:-
1. Rebooted to TWRP and flashed stock OOS recovery and then clicked reboot into recovery.
2. Instead of rebooting in recovery my phone got stuck at the OnePlus logo.
3. I booted into fastboot to flash twrp.img but it says 'writing 'recovery'...
FAILED (remote: device is locked. Cannot erase)'
4. I repeated the same with stock recovery but no success and was not even able to boot to CM13 now.
Hence I was stuck on the OnePlus logo without any booting ROM or recovery and a locked bootloader (according to fastboot)
What I have already tried but failed:-
1. Tried to root with kingroot etc. (Before bricking)
2. Tried to unlock bootloader but failed because it has no recovery.
3. Tried to flash stock OOS 2.1.3-x
4. For now I used fastboot continue to boot back into CM13
Please help, I'm now stuck with cm13 without root and without any recovery installed.
P.S. I'm not even sure that if I clicked reboot then the phone will boot.
Thanks.
Okay, calm down.
Go to developer options and see if "OEM Unlocking" is enabled. If not, enable it.
Cool. Now enable USB Debugging, connect the phone to PC, open CMD and type
Code:
adb reboot bootloader
then
Code:
fastboot oem unlock
Download TWRP from the official website, rename it to recovery.img and then
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Now you have a recovery and an unlocked bootloader. Profit?
I hope this helps.

Hi all,
After "successfully" installing TWRP, which already took me lots of time due to strange errors, i can not go into TWRP mode. Only in Standard Recovery.
I followed every tip which i found how to exit the fastboot mode succesfully (pressing Vol+ & Power / Removing USB Cable / Tried TeamSpains Automatic Installer), but nothing worked. Most of the time just a black screen and Blue Led.
The only thing i did not do is typing in "fastboot reboot" because i read that this caused a brick on a few Le Max 2.
Any suggestions how i could finally install TWRP ?
Thanks a lot!
Wow, I'm almost in the same situation, but mine is worse - Neither standart recovery, nor TWRP start.
Can you confirm, that your bootloader is unlocked?
Because in my case, the bootloader was locked and I managed to corrupt the recovery by installing TWRP forcefully, which brought me to the continious boot loop in the recovery with no os loaded at all.
check these commands in fastboot:
fastboot oem unlock (fastboot oem unlock-go worked for me)
After it is unlocked -> fastboot flash recovery bla-bla.img -> fastboot boot bla-bla.img, where bla-bla is your twrp image.
The clue is to use proper version of TWRP from Teamspain or from the thread Official TWRP. You can always use fastboot boot for the first try. And unlock the bootloader first.

Try twrp manager app or the official twrp app. I had problems with teamspain version, appeared not to be working (black screen) but after about 30 seconds it worked. With the latest official version 3.0.2-1-x2 which i installed with twrp manager it boots up immediately
I think as soon as you type fastboot reboot you need to hold power + Volume up button to load the TWRP. Else default recovery gets reinstated.
try to boot into twrp, maybe that will work it described in step 6.4 in this tutorial:

That's interesting. So all your data was wiped when you used the hstool?
Someone else said flashing firmware via dload method also relocks the bootloader.
hmm i'm not sure.
I'll explain the whole situation.
I had just unlocked the bootloader and installed magisk.
after installing magisk, I installed a few modules, one of which made my phone bootloop.
I managed to get back into fastboot mode, use hstool to select my firmware (224) along with the patched hisuite from funkyhuawei.
after my phone recovered, it seems to have been completely reset and locked.
*edit*
I guess I should also add, I've never installed TWRP on this phone, only patched the recovery_ramdis.img for Magisk

You need an external usb-c drive with some firmware on it.
I initially used v187 from this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mate-20-pro/how-to/firmware-update-187-brings-oem-unlock-t3897301
Since then I downloaded a v206 which works over USB but I cannot recall where I got it from.
Note that you will loose all user data since the phone will be fully wiped.
Also this method requires a phone that is working, as in able to boot and access the dialer and menus.
If I find out where I got the v206 I will post it here as well.
I should also add, maybe it might work with a memory card as well... But this method requires an external source for the firmware since it formats the entire phone
@ xeroxide Thx for your help.
I Try this at the weekend.
If you need to relock your bootloader, this is the process:
Using eRecovery, restore your phone to stock
Once done, boot into recovery and RESET your phone (if you dont, it will not allow you to lock the bootloader)
Boot into fastboot mode (Holding Vol-DOWN, plug in usb cable) , and run the command
fastboot oem relock < bootloader unlock code>
the phone should now ask you that it will wipe your device, confirm,
Enjoy locked phone!

Click to collapse
Now it works well... i relocked my phone..........but i don't know why i failed last time because i followed exactly the steps...
