I have just had a massive headache with rooting my LeTV x600, apparently there are different batches... blah blah, it wouldn't root.
I am returning it, and looking at the Xiaomi redmi note 3 32gb version. Do Xaiomi phones have difficulties in being rooted or are they simple and problem free?
I don't care about custom roms etc, I just need that bloatware off! my letv phone wouldn't even last a days battery because of bloatware.
Depending on how you get it shipped you may need to flash an official copy of MIUI, but my phone installed TWRP quite easily and rooted without any issues.
I think you can simply install the dev Rom and you have root ☺

Just installed an official Developer rom via updater

Thanks guys, I've went ahead with the order (through Banggood). I've seen some videos and guides on other Xiaomi devices too and seems straight forward... I don't have the technical knowledge or time as I used to when I had my HTC HD2, I need idiot proof help these days lol
Just flash this TWRP in recovery mode

I've had problems using stock recovery to root. I used Fastboot to flash, and others have used (but I haven't) WinDroid.
With a lack of technical knowledge, you'll probably want to try WinDroid first, as it is basically a skin of Fasboot that makes it more user-friendly.
one of those devices that can be rooted very easy

Hello guys,
switching over from iOS I actually looking for a good custom ROM to use with my Redmi Note 4 MTK version.
Since I'm new to the whole Android universe I would like to have some advice regarding the ROMS.
Or should I stay with the stock ROM and just update/upgrade it to the newest version?
Any help is much appreciated, thank you all in advance.
If you don't need Root, or Jailbreak called on iOS, than you will probabl stick to stable official ROMs. Also, you need unlocked bootloader in order to install most of the Custom Roms. There are few little more optimized Custom ROMs with some customizations, but it's not a big difference from Global Stable rom. And, you should'v bought the Snapdragon version of Redmi Note 4. Personally i have the MTK, but i bought it when it was out last year. I'm satisfied, but the battery is not even close to a Snapdragon version, MTK beats the SD one only in pefromance but for the cost of battery.
Yeah this was told me in another thread too.
Next time I guess.
Which source I should use for the ROM? Is that one with the MIUI or how it is called?
I also got permission to and unlocked my phone already.
Hi all, I purchased the redmi 3 when it first came out for the gf. Still going strong, great phone for her.
When I got it it didn't have a global ROM, so I unlocked the boat loader officially and then installed the xiaomi 'global' ROM as an interim
Time has passed and I never got round to switching her to official, which of course is now a new android version ahead.
What's the most painless way of switching her?
If I was to put the official one as a zip file on the phone, could I update using the updater app? Would it lose all her apps and settings?
Any advice / first hand experience welcome. thanks
Hello XDA,
Apologies if this doesn't belong here.
So I've been using a Redmi Note 4 for almost a month now(my first time using MIUI). Used to have a Motorola Moto G 3rd gen before this and used a Moto X(first gen) before that, so I'm used to stock android only. A lot of of my friends used to tell me MIUI is really good but tbh I'm not enjoying it at all. I much prefer the stock android experience.
I told all of these to a friend and he suggested that I try using a custom ROM. Problem is I have no idea where to even start as I'm an absolute noob about all these stuff.
So what I'm looking for is any guide/step by step instructions to installing custom ROMs for noobs like me.
Also if anyone can suggest me what ROM I should install to get closer to a stock android experience. It should be a stable build.
Thanks beforehand and apologies for the poor English, not my native language.
Hi!
First unlock bootloader (it takes 3 days because Xiaomi protection).
Then flash TWRP recovery and... Hmmm just watch this video
After that you can chose custom ROM the best one for you is LineageOS copy it to device's storage, wipe all phone data/dalvik through TWRP and install Lineage. Remember to do MIUI backup
Hello guys, new Galaxy Tab3 owner here. Just picked it up from Best Buy sale (please don't say I payed too much and/or I should've waited for some other sale).
Anyway, I was wondering what recommendation there might be for first time use of this tablet, i.e. is it ok to install all OTA updates or should I leave whatever Android version it has out of the box, or just forget that and just root and flash TWRP? I mention this because some time ago on the Alcatel Onetouch Idol 3 everyone who update to MM basically lost root and had to downgrade to regain fastboot.
Thanks for any advice.

It's OK to install the latest updates as they accually seem to fix some bugs, the twrp seems a bit dodgy for me. Then rooting it is up to personal preference

Thanks. I'll wait a few months see how stock Rom work for me then.

Goodevening everyone, I've rooted my phone two months ago and Xiaomi launched a new MIUI update for my device: V13.0.5.0.SJZEUXM, while my currently MIUI ROM is V13.0.2.0.SJZEUXM. I've been looking everywhere for guides and tutorials on how to correctly and safely update my phone while also keeping root with all my apps and settings intact. I have TWRP as custom recovery and using Xiaomi Firmware Updater to download MIUI's ROMs. I personally don't trust old guides as they might be outdated and I don't want to cause any damage or completely brick my main device. I hope the answers to this thread might also help others in the future. Thank you!
