Sir I have Ascend mate2 bought in USA with model number MTL2L03 but this doesn't support 2300MHz 4G connection. But MT2-L02 supports 2300MHz 4G band. Since both hardware are same, please could you provide me setting through which I can enable 2300MHz on MT2-L03. This being QualCom chip, there are various ways we can use NVRAM settings to enable band but I want to know if there are any easy way from Huawei to enable this. Other option is I get modem.img for MT2-L02, I could just replace it in MT2-L03 and get extra band needed? Any other ways ?

Currently my unlocked MT2L03 only supports the USA LTE Bands. Can I unlock additional LTE Bands for worldwide usage? I am guessing TDD Bands will just not be there. But how about additional FDD Bands?

It's dependent on the modem inside the chip. If the other bands are not on the chip, no, you can't access them.

Hi there,
Well that's the obvious answer isn't it.
The question posed in OP is whether there are more bands accessible and whether anyone has made any progression in this domain for the Huawei devices.
I think one of the questions is whether the Kirin chipsets might have the Qualcomm modem on them (which is used in a lot of mobiles) and how to activate diag mode.
Anyone?
Regards,

L03 model doesn't have Kirin chip.

Hi ScoobSTi,
Right you are!
Which means it has Qualcomm chipset.
To add or change bands: look here and here, both on XDA.
Quite some report that they succeeded, but caution is to be paid.
Kind regards,
Thanks for the replies. MT2L03 uses Snapdragon 400 chip. I checked out the other links shared in the posts but they seemed to be for LG phones so unlikely to work on the Huawei.
Specifically I am interested to activate FDD LTE Band 3 / 1800.
The phone is shipped with FDD LTE bands 2, 4, 5 and 17 activated.
Thanks

Yep, that's correct. Just want to activate Band 3 LTE ... I am quite sure the radio would work if we have the code to activate it....

if locked by software may unlock or this hardware loced where to replace hardware
or
how to convert a808t to a806
this phone is dead support
I bought this device 2 months ago, I'm very pleased with the price / quality ratio that the Blu Vivo 5 offers.
However, the lack of supported Lte bands (2, 4 and 7 only) is remarkable, especially since the mediatek processor mtk-6753 supports the 'worldmode' 4G / Lte feature which means that all Lte bands are supported. This would be just perfect if it would be supported by the firmware on this phone... Especially since I live in an area where AT&T broadcast Lte signals on different lte bands than supported by the Blu Vivo 5.
I have done some research and I have been trying to read out the current baseband flash file and I'm positive that the current (2, 4 and 7) lte bands are enabled / controlled by this modem baseband (MOLY.LR9. W1444.MD.LWTG.MP.V42.P71).
Anyway, I made some progress by locating the files that holds the lte bands configuration in the device. When I make more progress by successfully enabling more lte bands, I will start a new post in the right section of this forum. For now I'd like to ask if anyone has more info about enabling / tweaking the baseband and / or lte bands configuration with mediatek based devices.
There are many threads and info about Qualcomm based devices where the nvram has been tweaked to enable more lte bands. But as far Mediatek based devices, there is not much to find, other than tools (like MTK engineer mode) to display info. So any helpful background info is highly appreciated!
can u tell me where the files are located? and i also agree this phone is very very very worth every penny

Agreed. But how to enable the LTE bands?
Any progress on this? I would love to enable additional LTE bands if possible.
My phone drops LTE everyday. Only a reboot helps. Maybe this could help...
In Norway we use LTE bands 3, 7 and 20 (all network operators). This phone only supports 2, 4 and 7. Would really love to be able to use band 3 and band 20!

Hi forks,
I want to create a new thread because there are too many misleading information about this topic. Band unlocking does not work. I'm here in the US for a month and after trying to modify #6828 value LTE will not show up in my phone (enable band 2). Even unlock bootloader, install LineageOS but it will never work.
That's it. Mi5 will never work in the US with LTE.
Who cares. Why do you need 4g on a phone anyway?

You are correct, I followed the articles to unlock bands. It showed me all the LTE bands unlocked however it never connected on those bands even the mobile company support those bands.
You can not connect to any LTE band other than came with xiaomi mi5 inbuilt.
U can Unlock
I think you can unlock the band. I am from India. I brought Mi5 from china. Band 3,5,40 are the bands in India. There is band 5 was missing in my Mi5. I unlocked band 5 through nvram value edit method
If you read the thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-5/how-to/progress-trying-to-unlock-bands-t3337476 carefully, you will find that the method does work but only for some bands. Specifically, while the Mi5 comes with bands 1, 3, 7, 38-41 working, with the method bands 5 and 8 can also be made to work.
hey iam also purchase the same mi5 64 from china after that i notice the lte band 5 is not working cause iam from rural area here is only band 5 work as well. i rooted the phone and after that try the nvram values but with no signal plz tell me the detail method how to unlock the lte band no 5 in mi5 phone.
Not sure, if the post belongs here or elsewhere, but here's the story:
Recently I've got a generic chinese fake specs tab. Jlinksz ZH960. MTK6582 1/16. Bad thing is that UMTS bands in engineering mode are disabled (shown but greyed), and only GSM are available. So the quest is what's the way to enable UMTS bands?
Same, i bought a Chinese phone, OUKITEL but doesn't enable those greyed bands. Hope there's a solution.
