Hi guys this is my first post here on xda
I have Xperia Z1 running stock Android 5.1.1
And i want to flash a rom (Cyanogenmod to be precise)
So my question is do i need to root my device first??(if so, please guide me through the process).
or the Cyanogenmod is rooted in the first place??
Also is there any software on pc that backs up my whole internal storage ?
Do i need to backup my sdcard or will be intact?
And finally: I've heard that flashing a custom rom on xperia devices removes the
X-Reality engine from the device, is it true??

Hello everybody on XDA,
I am new to flashing custom ROM's and I decided that I want Kitkat on my Xperia P.
Currently I have stock JB rooted with a Locked Bootloader.
I know I need to take the following steps:
Unlock my bootloader
Flashing/Fastboot the Kernel
Flash the rom with CWM
Flash the Gapps with CWM
Everything is clear to me how I should do it, except for fastbooting a Kernel.
I have looked on different threads with different kernels and they all seem like the have a different method of flashing/fastbooting it on my device.
So my questions are how do you flash/fastboot the CM 11 Kitkat Kernel by Percy_g2 for Xperia P?
There is a Newbies thread on installing Kitkat for Xperia U. Is the process the same for Xperia P?
Do I need to install CWM before I flash the Kernel or does it come with that Kernel?
Anything else I should know before attempting to install Kitkat (Tips or any important information I may have missed)

Hi guys
I just got dual recovery installed on my Xperia Tablet Z SGP321 XZDualRecovery - TWRP/PhilZ
Specs - Android 4.2.2, Rooted with vroot
Tablet Ready For Custom ROMS? I don't think so...
I downloaded a few custom ROMS for my tablet
Placed it on my sdcard, booted into recovery, wiped and install and FAIL, with 4 Roms i've already tried, I'm out of options
People any ideas? Am I missing a step?
Hi
What for roms are you trying to install? Even you have to flash the kernel via flashtool, when you use none stock based roms!
Devices in use:
Xperia ZL eXistenZ Ultra 4.0
Xperia SP eXistenZ Ultra 2.0
Xperia Tablet Z => Stock deodext 4.3 (waiting for eXistenZ)
I wish to upgrade my stock GB ROM to Kitkat ..i have a xperia u st25i
i have unlocked the bootloader
flashed a kernel with root priveleges but has no clockwork mod integrated with it ...
now i am having a hard time in proceeding ahead , should i just flash a custom rom ? or go and flash a CWM ? what am i suppose to do
Hello, Im just receiving my LB White Xperia Z2 in the mail today after selling my Sony xperia Z1 compact due to less LTE speeds . Now here is my question, I noticed that my phone is on the latest Lollipop Firmware with no root, I know that I can get root by doing that "king root", if I accomplish that goal and follow the steps correctly, I can manage to get root and recovery. Once i done that, here is my big question, can I flash ANY STOCK SONY roms such as ExistenZ Y, ExistenZ ultimate, and moonwalker? Or am i only limited to flash only Lollipop based stock sony roms such as ExistenZ Y? I would like to flash ExistenZ ultimate since it looks powerful and its based on kitkat but since I'm on a lollipop firmware, is it safe to flash it? OR do i have to downgrade from lollipop to kitkat in order to flash it? Sorry for the long paragraph, just wanna make sure I get everything right
While your bootloader is locked you can flash any Sony based rom(LP or Kk) including ExistenZ. I would do a full wipe though.

If you want to go back to kitkat then you have to try downgrade through official kitkat ftf file first (so you get a proper kernel) and if it works then you can flash existenz kitkat.

Hello!
I need a custom rom android 4.3 - 4.4 for Sony Xperis st27i. File FTF only! Do you know any existing links for that? I know it's a quite old soft but still welcome.
