Some of you may or may have not noticed, but coming from a nexus 5, the emoji's were nice looking. Now that I'm on V10, the emojis are butt ugly. I've attached an image of what I'm talking about. The ones circled in green are what the new ones look like, and the red circled ones are the ones I'd like back. Clicking on them only changes what they look like when selecting them on the keyboard. Not what they look like when placed. Any way I can get them permanently?

How'd you do that? Just replace a file? Mind sharing it with me? I managed to use emoji switcher to get the Google ones back, but that's only for lollipop. The new Unicode update would be better.

Emojis are actually fonts so you can easily change it out.. here
Emoji 6.0.1
Use a root explorer (I use Solid Explorer...its what es file explorer used to be before it started taking drugs )
Navigate to /system/fonts/
Rename NotoColorEmoji.ttf to NotoColorEmoji.ttf.bak (this is your backup if you want to revert)
Copy the downloaded file into the font folder and set the permission to -rw-r-r (aka 0644).
Reboot and enjoy

Lol well right now you would probably only be able to see the update for the already existing emoji you won't be able to see the new ones until you install a supported keyboard, I'll post the google keyboard from my nexus 6 later on when I get home from work/gym unless @Rydah805 can hook you up with a deodexed version first

Like I said, didn't work here. The Emoji Switcher app couldn't gain root and failed. I'll swap them manually when I have the spare time.
Well you could always try this method. --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/one...covery-install-unicode-8-0-emoji-5-x-t3266000
I ended up doing it all manually and it worked just fine for me. The new Unicode 8.0 emoji will ONLY show up in the AOSP keyboard for now. But the ones that were replaced with different images did get updated either way.
lol sorry I completely forgot about this....but the thread that @Virus.Shell linked to is a hopefully functioning 6.0.1 keyboard.
Not sure if you guys have seen this, but I installed these emoji, MUCH nicer than the stock Android ones and obviously nicer than the stock LG.

Welp, not my number or my pic. If he wants to put it up, more power to him. As for Google Keyboard, like the post says, there's a modified version that uses all the emoji. It's 50% of the point of my post
I have been using TouchPal app as a default swiping keyboard for all my texting all the while. And there are a lot of different kind of emojis in this app and it is free. Give it a try - I hope you will like it.

What launcher are you using? Most allow you to replace icons with ones of your choosing, you'll just have to put them on your sdcard.
If you're wanting to theme icons at the system level, or your launcher doesn't allow you to select a custom icon, then you'll have to modify apks.

Send me the icons and I'll make a flashable .zip for you that will change them, hassle free ( plus a recovery one so you can revert them if you don't like them ).
It's 2 minutes of work
Edit : I figure you want to change them while using Touchwiz, because replacement launchers do it easily anyway
Thank You Sir!!!!

Not strictly true - although it is an app drawer replacement.
Can change icons and names with this, my favourite ever app ever of all time ever.
As I've posted before, if there's an easier way to edit icons/text and retain functionality, I have yet to find it.
Especially because I couldn't modify an apk if my life was at stake...

If I pull the rosie.apk out of a rom that has the landscape homescreen mode working and put it in my system/app folder and change permissions will that allow my phone to go into landscape or are there other changes that need to be made?

It depends on if you are running a deodexed version of the ROM currently. If yes, then, it should work as you described. If it is still ODEXED, then, no it won't.

Thanks, I did see that but I didn't like the idea of another app running in the background when I could just change one out. If I wasn't unlocked and rooted I would use that.
In case anyone wants it I pulled the .apk out of flex360's rom. Thanks flex360.
This, I believe, also has the ultrasmooth mod.
If posting this is against the rules or whatever let me know and I'll remove it. Just thought it would save people having to download a 500+mb rom if they are running a deodex rom and want the landscape rosie.
I kind of thought this would make the lockscreen rotate too but it doesn't... I have my phone sitting on the kickstand at work and I turn it on to look at the weather on the lockscreen which is why I originally wanted it rotated.

either this apk doesn't play well with viper, or I installed it wrong. I dropped it in /system/app and set permissions, but just got a black screen on reboot. Luckily, I was able to install apex from the play store from my computer, and once that installed, I was able to launch root explorer and change back to the backup rosie.apk I made before I pushed the new one. How are you supposed to install this?
Weird. Maybe some roms have changes not compatible or something. I did exactly what you did and it worked fine for me on the fresh 5.1.1 rom. I just renamed my original and put this one in system>app and changed permissions. After a reboot it worked.
I assume you meant system>app.

If its still odexed first delete the Rosie.odex file in root explorer then place your new Rosie in there. If you have modified the Rosie make sure it is signed. Signature verification has not been disabled in any of the roms that are out I don't believe.

Original credit for discovering the ICS fallback fonts goes to iridaki for the experia http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879056. I have just modified his version to work with our Rezound
I have tested this and is working perfectly to create the Android 41. Jellybean Emoji through out the ICS system, I am using stock Global RUU with a few modifications but this should work with any ROM. Please let me know if you run into any issues wit it.
I wanted this because i use the stock messaging system and noticed that i could not receive Emoji icons from other phone users, such as that crappy Apple product, in my messages., however i didn't wnat to use a 3rd party messaging app such as Handcent. With this enabled you can now send and receive special Emoji characters in the ENTIRE ICS system not just in the messaging app, please note to type the characters you'll need a keyboard such as Multiling Keyboard. Google enabled this option in Jellybean by adding a font to the fallback font script which contained the necessary characters to recieve the non standard Emoji's.
This zip contains the added font and a modified script so that when receiving a special character you will no longer see the boxes, but instead the Jellybean encoded Emoji!
Please note: I am not responsible for anything that may happen to your device, this has been tested and should in no way affect anything, but as always use at your own risk.
Steps to install:
Place HTCemojiflashable.zip onto root of external sd card
Boot into recovery and create a backup(important so you can revert back in case of issues)
Flash zip file using recovery(I recommend Amon-Ra 3.15)
Reboot and enjoy

Thank you so much for this! I'm on HTC Sensation and this works perfectly! Just wondering would you be able to, if possible to have the full emoji icon instead of the b/w? I know you go off of the JB release to get this, but maybe you can customize it, possibly? Also can you get OS6 Emoji?
i don't believe it is possible to do that without having a modified messaging apk. Android messaging does not have emoji support built in such as ios, this mod simply adds a font if you will that is programmed to display the emoji. Same idea as italic or bold font, not possible to give it color or anything like that unless the android message apk was written to encode emoji's, which it is not in JB or ICS so unless there is someone much better out there who can write the code for the apk i'm sorry i can't add the support. This will however receive ios6 emoji, it will just display it as JB would though, not an iphone.

There's a thread by @angelsel which explains how to replace the Android color emoji with the iOS color emoji AND how he managed to do it. The tutorial in the thread isn't too hard to follow, although he forgot to write that the AppleColorEmoji.tff provided in the thread needs to have permissions -rw-r-r in the "fonts" folder. It works great and doesn't replace any other system fonts. Looks just like iOS.

The option shows a semi transparant overlay of a the screen image. It is nothing like the dual window in Nougat. So you are probably right.
I will be upgrading to MM in a bit and let's see. On my rooted Z5 i edited the build.prop to activate multi window and it works great though tricky to activate unlike on nougat. Hoping to have the same in my Tab Z3C. Will post back soon.

I warn you though that it's really buggy unlike in Nougat where experience is seamless. Like in the screenshot I was using it on portrait mode with chrome on top and messaging below. Whenever I started scrolling chrome the window below just disappears. It's really buggy. In landscape it's better though. For the root I really forgot since I rooted the first day I got this 3 years ago and it was never unrooted after that. I think I used the method in kitkat which has a tutorial on this section also by Lowtrax.
