This setup will not work. There is no way to get stock and cm12.1 working at the same time.

Thanks for the reply
So for a dual boot i should be using only JB based roms,so that the kernel works on both the roms?

Hi guys !
I'm new in this section, and my Galaxy S 2 is just rooted. Otherwise it's pure Samsung Rom.
I was looking for a way to install Omega Rom, but i'm kinda lost...
I've already read many tutorials, but...
The thing that i can't understand is, should i flash a compatible kernel, and then the rom i want, or is the kernel included in rom installation ?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers !
Hey,
Look at Omega ROM thread to see if it has included Kernel.
If it has a Kernel included, go ahead and flash it directly otherwise flash siyah kernel and then Omega (providing that they're both compatible, which i am sure that they are)
Cheers.
PS. Welcome to Galaxy S2 world!
Thanks for your reply !
In Omega thread, it says :
Inside Omega v20 Jelly Bean 4.1.2:
Based on firmware XWLSD Android 4.1.2 (Date: 31/01/2013)
Kernel: PhilZ cwm6
Modem XXLS8
CSC Multi set to EUR
So, kernel PhilZ is included in the installation, right ?
But, XWLSD mean that i should switch to firmware XWLSD before flash, or it's just in indication ?

No that means omega rom is based on latest stock LSD..And yes philz kernel comes with the rom. All you need is a safe kernel like siyah or dorimanx which has a proper CWM recovery
Thank you guys ! Will try to do it ASAP !
Cheers !
Well actually Philz is also safe kernel.
But if you want to switch to Siyah kernel or whatever do that after flashing the ROM

So, can i flash Omega Rom in stock recovery, to switch directly from Samsung kernel to Philz ?
With Omega rom you will get Omega files app and you can dload there kernels and other stuff. Kernel section there is links to the philz, jeboo and siyah kernels. Just try there and use that what is best for you.

That can be really helpfull, thanks !
But, can i flash it in stock recovery, or should i first flash CWM (or other) recovery ?

Do not flash roms in stock recovery. Specially if you are on ICS 4.0.4. You might brick your phone. If you are on ICS flash a safe kernel like siyah v5 or dorimanx kernel via ODIN. Then you can boot into recovery, do a wipe data/cache and install omega or whatever rom you want

First flash a custom kernel, and from that point you can do a full wipe and flash roms.
Thank you all for your help guys !
Cheers !
Can anyone of you point me to the right kernel here please : http://dorimanx.shine.sk/ or in PhilZ Kernel thread.
Because i'm lost, there is to many choices and i don't want to blow up my phone.. I know that it should match my rom version, but match my actual rom, or the rom that i want to flash ?
Or more simplistic, can i flash it over stock kernel ?
Cheers !
EDIT : Kernel_Siyah-Dorimanx-V8.2-[17-35]-[05-03]-ICS-JB-SGII-PWR-CORE.zip is the right, i think... but need confirmation
Hi guys.
First sorry for my english.
I need your help solving the problem.
I must say that my knowledge is very basic.
Yesterday I downloaded the latest nightly build from cm site (cm-10.2-20130827-nightly-i9100)
After the download complete i tried to boot into recovery to wipe data/factory reset and cache and start flashing the rom But with no Success.
The device won't boot into recovery.
I read somewhere a post saying you should choose app and adb option under developer options\root access but still no success after changing this option.
One more question please
I downloaded the supersu app from the play store and each time it remind me the need to update the su binary each time i choose continue it faild to update.
find the kernel fixed by codeworkx in the cm thread or flash dorimanx kernel with odin ( there is one in .tar in the download list).

Had the same problem yesterday: Auto-Update seems to be broken, if you apply an update downloaded OTA (even when coming from an older 10.2 Nightly), you can't get into recovery anymore:
Download the newest .tar (9.34) here:
http://dorimanx.shine.sk/
and flash it using ODIN
(insert .tar at PDA)

hi H3llwar.
1. Which update are you talking about? I did not do any update.
2. Is required to perform additional actions before flashing the kernel?
3. which odin ver should i use? 3.XX ? 1.85 ?
4. after flashing the kernel should i flash a custom rom again ?
thanks

1. There's an OTA update function which I used. Obviously, you didn't, it seems to be the nightly thats broken.
2. No, just flash it via ODIN
3. 3.XX worked just fine for me (changed to SlimBean yesterday as CM 10.2 seems too buggy for the moment)
4. You can flash just Dorimanx 9.34.tar, CM 10.2 & recovery should be acessible afterwards
Keep in mind that CM 10.2 and most other ROMs replace the kernel you currently have, if you want to flash another Custom ROM, flash 1. Rom.zip, 2. Gapps.zip & 3. Kernel.zip

It's great!!!
Stable, fast, good battery life with shipped kernel, and just 81MB. I don't miss any feature that CM or AOKP have and it doesn't get bricked when installing Head Soccer like XenonHD does :victory:
Give it a try!

hi mate.
i really want to try the slimbean rom but for doing that i need your help (you r my private teacher )
The latest slimbean version appears on the official site is JB 4.22 built 8.
What actions it takes when you downgrade from cm 4.3 to slimbean 4.2.2 etc ?

It isn't different from any other ROM change because SlimBean ships with its own kernel and dorimanx supports both 4.3 and 4.2 ROMs:
In Recovery Mode:
1. Wipe data
2. Wipe cache
3. Flash Rom.zip
(Optional: 4. Flash Dorimanx 9.39.zip)
Hi guys,
I'm using on my S2 a Cyanogenmod Rom (v. 11-20140504-snapshot-M6-I9100) and as recovery CWM-based recovery v.6.0.4.8.
Fortunelly I made a complete backup so I'm able to restore anytime my best configuration with that rom.
The problem come out if, reflashing the stock firmware, I would flash again the recovery and rom. The device do not install twice giving me back ERROR 7.
Do anybodies know why it happens?
I arrived to that configuration flashing CM11-M6 from another CM version (markox89) and recovery v 6.0.4.8 from Philz temporary recovery (and than I flashed the version 6.0.4.7 auto updated to 6.0.4.8).
CM11 M6
Hello,
My guess is that you need to flash a CM11/KK compatible kernel first. From what I know, Philz is a samsung base kernel (4.12), so it wont work. Try flashing Gustavo's 21/4 or Apolo 7.0vb kernel which are the best of the lot for the aging GS2 now.
Cheers

As you are upgrading to CM 11 therefore you need only patched modem, only download the patched modem from the latter thread then flash the cm 11 ROM after that the patched modem and you will be good to go ... Check this thread for info http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601

to cm11 from stock 4.1.2xxemc2
1.Check in the CM 11 thread if you can upgrade to 4.4 from 4.1.2 because in my case I needed to above 4.1.2 to flash 4.4 *I was coming from 4.3 *
2.When you flash a custom rom,you don't need ariza patch because the kernel which the ROM uses is already patched and I think the modem is too,so you will be good without it.
3.Make sure you have the latest recovery , I recommend you Philz
Recovery above 6 versions.

Get 10.44v008 from here -

I would assume it will work, I have used it with other aosp 4.4.4 roms, but I haven't used neat rom.

I think dorimanx will replace your cwm with its own version(I am on 6.0.4.8), but there is not much difference. You can always flash the newer version if you really need it.
Odin won't see it as it is not a .tar file, just flash it from recovery. It is recommended if you are not re-flashing the rom to use the kernelwipe script from @hawkerpaul to make sure there are no issues from residual files from the old kernel.
I don't know about a custom boot-animation, it may be possible but not something that is a feature of the kernel

No, that would install the stock kernel again. If you have been using the rom as is for a while I would use the kernelwipe script, then just flash the dorimanx kernel from recovery, then just reboot into system. You can flash the kernel without the script but you run the risk of bugs because of left over files from the previous kernel.
