Audio effects menu in stock ROM - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey, guys. I noticed today this audio effects menu in Settings > Sound & notification. It looks basic - nothing on CM's - but I'm surprised it's present at all. This is on the XT1521 5.1.1 ROM. Does anyone on another firmware have this too? I don't think this was there in 5.0.2.

Yep, i have an xt1526 (sprint), and its present there too.

Vm has it also

Ah, cool. I'd never seen that menu before, so...
Why was this moved to Help? I thought this was general discussion. Well, never mind.

Jellybeans B13 - Low volume with Perseus and SystemUI crashing with Sense Recent apps

I am using a Galaxy note II i605. I flashed jellybeans build 13 with the perseus kernel, and noted that the screen appeared slightly darker in sunlight, the max volume was no longer that loud (on stock, i could hear my music on the NYC subway, now I could not) and System UI would crash whenever I selected an app from the recent apps list (using the Sense theme).
Has anyone else experienced this?

This one has been repeated many times in the Beans thread. The solution seems to be to use the stock recents instead of the sense implementation.

Thanks. However, the issue of low volume I did not see a solution for.
Additionally, I also noticed my 4G connection was very very slow, about 500kbps. This is definitely slower than stock.
Go into STweaks and check the audio tab. Pull the Headphone Amplification up some. It ships with a reduction. 50 is no boost/no cut.

Ah thanks. For some reason, when using the Sabre kernel, I did not have an audio issue. Perseus had it set to 50. (did not see what Sabre was set to). Moved the slider up to about 58 and everything is well in the world

Glad you got it fixed up. Sabre doesn't have the exact same adjustments. You have to use voodoo controls to make the tweaks instead of STweaks. :good:

Thanks. However, the biggest issue I have right now is signal strength. Speedtest sometimes doesnt even find a server and says network issues. When it does run, I get speeds of about 200kbps now. When I go back on stock I dont have any issues.
Have you looked in the main thread? I don't recall anyone having that issue, but at 1100+ pages, it is hard to keep track.

I did not see this specific issue when searching, and I am too new a user to be able to post in that thread. I really love this ROM but until I can get reliably fast data I will have to either revert to stock or a ROM that is not as nice
One thing to check is the modem version you are on. Are you on VRALJB or VRALL4?

That's badly outdated info. The SIM controls that on LTE phones, and there's no way you can force an update.

Thanks. Perhaps it is an APN issue? I just noticed that I have no APNs listed anymore.

[Q] ParanoidAndroid Build 3.92 - SMS Popup issues

Hey all,
Just downloaded and installed PA 3.92 (Android 4.3) and I'm having issues with SMS Popup. The app works just fine, however the notification lights no longer work. (I have specific light colors for contacts) Is there something within the system settings which would prevent this from working correctly? Or is it a ROM and/or app issue?
Thanks for any feedback.
I don't know whether it's the app or the ROM but the developer is posting an update later (3.94)

Awesome! I will give it a try when it's released and report back if the issue still persists.
Even after installing the new update (3.94), the notification light with SMS Popup still doesn't work. Does anyone have any ideas? I tried playing around with the settings in system settings, but to no avail.
For those who have the similar problem... This is on the page for PA's ROM. It looks like it may be an Android 4.3 problem rather than the app having issues. I figured I'd pass it along.
CyanogenMod's LED panel. The LED works of course but some of Google's new related code conflicted heavily with CM's. We wait and pick up their changes soon enough.

[SOLVED] Lockscreen Issue with PAC ROM

Hi,
Hopefully I am writing in the correct place about my issue.
I have the Xperia Z2, rooted, bootloader unlocked, CWM recovery.
I flashed the Unofficial PAC ROM by "rcstar6696" and it works fine with tons of features, my problem is that the phone would not lock securely.
I tried to use PIN, Pattern, Gesture locks and they all do not function, the phone will still unlock with slide.
I tried to reset the phone, same thing. I looked all over the forums and could not find anything about this with Z2.
My friend owns a Nexus 5 and I rooted and flashed PAC ROM onto his phone and the Pattern lock works like a charm.
Is anyone facing the same issue? Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks.
EDIT: I have flashed the latest version from 20th of September cleanly and still facing the same issue.
EDIT: after a few resets and wipes, I noticed that when installing/uninstalling apps. The lock chosen works for a limited time (Usually 6 hours) and then stops randomly.
I am still trying to identify if it's an app causing this.
EDIT: ISSUE SOLVED !!
I reset the device one more time with a clean boot, then while setting it up, I did not connect to my google account. I skipped most of the steps, then set the lock screen, rebooted, added my google account manually.
and VOILA ! phone securely locked.
I do not know how my google account caused this, but it seems to be the reason at the moment.

I've been using pac rom since its release, I have no issue setting any lockscreen security. Pattern, pin etc all work for me, it has to be either a setting or xposed module causing the issue

Xposed would cause it, or any mods or tweeaks because pac is framework sensitive which means even simple mods can cause huge issues

Yes of course, but I just flashed it cleanly and no apps whatsoever (except GApps & Stock) , and still the issue is the same.
I even did not change any of the ROM built-in settings and still, no secure locking.
Oh and trust me, PAC ROM is amazing (if it wasn't for this issue) , made me hate every minute I spent in CM and TouchWiz (on my old S4) :good:
Did you do a complete wipe? I wiped all partitions including media before installing pac.
And yes pac is excellent and perfectly stable, only issues I have is nav bar dpi seems to reset after every reboot, but if I toggle say screen timeout via quick settings it changed to what it should be and active display reboots my phone but I don't use it anyway

I'm not sure how to do that, however, I managed to solve it.
And I am facing the same with nav bar and the PACperformance app, it just doesn't stick after reboot.
EDIT: actually, I just tried a few reboots, the nav bar seems to be fine to me, I did however change the icons via "Android L Navigation Bar" found in the xposed downloads. Maybe that caused it to "stick"?
as for the active display, I would like to use it, but I am a pixel maniac, and that feature isn't FHD yet I guess, so I am not using it either for the moment.

Softer Notification sound after 4.4.4 update

I don't know if anyone notice that after updating to 4.4.4,everything is awesome so far except some issues that i just noticed after updated mine this morning.
One major issue im facing is the reduced sound for notification on messages, emails etc.
Volume is set to max yet the sound of notification is greatly reduced. When i tried playing the tones in the library itself, the volume are just fine. They are reduced when notification is received.
Restarting the phone does not fix it. Anyone else experiencing the same?
One more issue is the lowered frame rate in camera mode. Its not as smoother as before update. It lags just like the camera mode on iphones. I still can take well photos though.
UPDATE : i actually did a factory reset and the camera lag indeed disappear! love the fast focus. Or you can just simply clear the camera data in setting and that should do the trick.
Also regarding the notification sound, try to pick a longer and striking ringtone as they tend to sound louder and noticeable even in reduced volume. Using the tone called Soft Bells which serves enough sound of alert. It solves my problem for now. Overall im happy with this update
You need to do wipe data , install a fresh Rom with factory data reset
it is recommended when update from one android version to another like ( 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 )
hmm is there alternative fix option? because i do not wish to go through the hassles of restoring everything..

Hardly anything about such things can be done when you're not rooted, sorry.
Camera frame rate slow
Yea, I've got the same problem too with the frame rate in the capera app after the update.

Is Factory data reset really solve this notification sound issue?
My Z2 with 0.314 firmware had same issue. and new firmware didn't fix it.
Same issue here before 4.4.4 it was really loud
After the update its really low sound, whats going on here? can anyone just confirm if installing a fresh rom solves this issue casue i dont think everyone in the world is gonna fix the issue by installing rom with flashtool...
My Z2 has had really low notifications from day 1 ive tried every single mod known to man also hoped with each new update SONY would fix it which will never happen as the y wont admit theres a problem
If we cant root 4.4.4 how can we apply this mod ?
Sony DOESN'T need to admit as prior to the 4.4.4 update, nobody was complaining about notification sound.

I rooted 4.4.2, installed xposed and viper4android, I cranked up my volumes and all is well. With headset off, I can lower the volume to the last step and it's still pretty loud. Maybe too loud lol.
Anyway, root is beautiful and viper4android is just a requirement for me since my galaxy s3. Look into it, wait for a rooting method and just mess with those sound options for now.
There might be a patch if it's really that bad still.
I think I'll wait for updating to 4.4.4 Thanks for the heads up.

That is not true. On my .314 driven Z2 the notification sound is lower when I get a message or something(I actually tested the thing many times to see if I was right and I was) than when I play the same notification tone in sound picker in settings with media volume taken to maximum. Call ringtones, on the other hand, they work the same, be it settings or nomal day usage.
So there is problem and do little research before you say something that is not truth because many people complained about that. But we didn't spam Sony with it enough so they don't care.
clear audio +
is clear audio helping out? i mean to say that even if there is no xloud included , is sound louder in clear audio + ?
Those mods are for further enhancement and not a remedy as there isn't any existing notification issue prior to 4.4.4
What do you mean further research? It's a fact that notification sound wasnt an issue for majority of users before 4.4.4, maybe I shouldn't blanket it to everyone and there's a sad 1% who claimed to have notification sound issues.

So far everything seems to be working - here is what i have tested:
- Wifi Works - really good speed
- Call is clear - had 2hr phone call with multiple people
- Data is good
- Tethering works
- Batterylife is ok so far - Android system is draining a bit more than I'd like it to
- Titanium will occasionally force close but not sure if that's TB fault or ROM
-Fingerprint works
- It is really quick - I mean really quick!
Here is where I had some trouble:
- During the setup wizard the phone would want to restore from another phone without the option of setting up fresh. The way
I went around it is to turn off data and wifi and skip that part and just continue and then set up all the accounts once I was on the launcher.
Not sure if anybody else has had the same issue.
Finally no CM Themes - but we all know about that

don't know why there isn't an official thread from cm...
Do not flash any custom kernel... Do not flash any pixel zips as it will bootloop..... First boot might seem to be bootlooping but a restart after the lag in boot animation seemed to fix the problem.

Theres a ton of reasons for that, but eventually a maintainer usually opens up a thread on the first days of releases.
We do have an unofficial release thread but, I guess some maintainer might eventually show up and post it
good news indeed.

do the devs. actually use the CM official build sources to build their custom roms? (sorry noobish question.)
edit: i shall wait until they implement the cm theme engine .
It's been a few years since I ran CM. Question one, is SU included or does it get flashed in addition, two, what vendor ( I assume 10C from 7.1.1) or is that included as well?
Thanks.

The Themes option is currently unavailable but I am sure it will be added to upcoming builds.
I don't think there is a ROM out (CM14.1) that has it implemented as CM have only just released official nightlies
CM14 build is very solid. Battery life isn't the best but it's very fluid.

Oh I was worried. Theming and root are the two options that I miss from my 7.1.1. Next week I will try the ROM. I'm a little concerned about the battery drain but I hope that it will be better than stock 7.0.
Anyone tried adaway on this ROM yet? I tried with and without systemless root .zip it fails each time.
