Hey guys, what do you think? Would you rather get the S4 or the Padfone2? Opinions would be appreciated.
My Opinion is ASUS PADFONE 2 For That Reasons...
-My Pc is Asus
-My Laptop is Asus
-I had the padfone 1!
-And tommorow i buy the padfone 2!!!!!!
Also i saw review about that 2 phones.they are not so different but the external matterial of ASUS is great....
MY OPINION.....
(Also you can use asus as TABLET!!! Is A GOOD REASON!)
What's troubling me from making a decision right now is that the tablet can't be operated without the phone and you can't pick up incoming calls without removing it from the pad. Apart from that I've always thought that the padfone 2 was great but now there's S4. And there's not even a thread which is dedicated to the padfone 2 here which means I can barely tweak my padfone 2...

i have the padfone2 and you can answer your call from your pad, besides the Padfone infinity is coming out soon, wait for it then decide.
good :good:luck
Looked for along time at Samsung, but price crazy for 32gb tablet alone and would have needed another data plan (what's the point if it's not instant on, I'm not gonna set up tether every time I want to surf, and its going to kill my phone battery if I forget to turn it off...3g is essential!!!)...
so bought used fonepad off ebey in UK for 500, best superphone I've had in ages, last was HTC sensation which was good but much slower and constantly running out of and reallocating memory, app multitasking was just painful, and screen was just a little too small for surfing, note taking, video etc... OMG, compared, this padfone is multiple organism provoking
This one is awesome and the pads ability to recharge phone just by sliding it in means I can use it for work almost non stop during the day... without the risk of having entire functional and configured tablet nicked - phone stays in my pocket unless i need to do something...
Perfect concept, one data plan, auto switches to WiFi when in range, Supernote works great, easy to jump to tablet to compose longer emails and sms... great for travel, 5 gmail accounts no problem! White ebay ultra pu stand+case from justilikecom for 15 quid works great. Cheap eBay bt headphones from e-superb for 15 GBP work just great for calls and music, and even movies on the go.
Not so good:
battery use pretty heavy in tablet mode, but maybe cause battery getting old on this one.... not possible to run for whole day non-stop without a recharge in the middle, but i have yet to find one that does... manufacturers figures always assume lowest power modes and screen off after a couple of mins(doesn't work for my usage at work-taking notes every couple of minutes, Gtalk, calls etc.) Basically on more often than not....
Suffered from known issue of sporadic reboots maybe10 times total, when cycling WiFi on and off (but that hasn't happened in a week so maybe another config option has negated this issue- not sure?).
No issues with power connector as some people commented (aware so careful) but regular micro-usb chargers don't work well unless you just use them to charge pad by itself... with phone it seems to recognize that it's not Asus charger and load will be too great-stops charging-and i can't find a spare adapter uk anywhere....
Best- The flexibility and bi-personality of the pf2 is awesome, with separate home screen app-widget config in pad or fone mode works great, so you can have 2 completely separate sets of home screens-more work to set up but I find tablet use totally different to phone, so very useful to have. Takes maybe 1-2 secs for phone to switch over to pad mode and redraw-rescale everything. Nice!
Can take calls and use it as speakerphone, or via BT, or just pull phone out and talk. It's a one-stop shop for communications...Google hangouts with video work fine, Skype also, what more could you wish for.....
Wish I had the money for an infinity(1000 GBP!!!).... but I now know what my next phone-tab will be
Wish xda had separate section for us to hang out in as well......

Follow-up.... on the charger issue-when phone is in tablet it detects amperage charger supplies and stops overloading if too low...so real 2A is required... nothing else.
Confirmed via http://www.padfoneclub.com/pl/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?4405.0#post_5808
Will try and source a real 2A wall brick and see if that works....

And more..... bought about 3 hi-power wall chargers that promised 2A - none of them worked fully like OEM charger. Despair was setting in. Called bunch of retailers, no-one had oem uk charger.....
Then I bought portapow 4 port charger. Works great. Real 2A puppy, so works just like OEM, charges both tab and phone together no problem.
Details for the desperate- 14.99 gbp from fleabay, free shipping. Listed as Quad 4-port universal USB mains ac wall charger 10W 2A for iPad by seller portapow_co_uk. I have no connection, just good opinion.
Now rooted and running guerilla rom.... finally some action!!!! I'm going to look for 64gb version next.. need more room for my music and videos
Enjoy, whatever you get!!!!!
Me device arrived yesterday, here a couple of first impressions:
+ Nice packaging/box.
+ Easy assembly, strong suction cup. Attached it to the dash of my jeep using no adhesive.
+ Using the Nexus 6 I drove for 20 minutes with Google Maps navigation, Bluetooth streaming music All-Access. Screen brightness set to auto. Battery went from 75% to 76%. Its not discharging like the HTC M7 Car kit.
- Initial impressions of quality is that the plastic material seems cheap. Considering the device is $80+tax.
- Its big and bulky, I am comparing it to official HTC Car kits for M7-M8.
- Proprietary power connector like the one on VÜ Wireless Charger. Have to be careful rotating the mount so the connector doesnt get damaged.
Adjust height so that it wont interfere with volume rockers.
When did you order yours? I ordered on the 3rd I believe and haven't even received shipping information
Where did you get this? The one on the website says it is only for use with phones up to 5.7 inches. Does this still work for the Nexus 6 or did you get it somewhere else?
Well, never mind, I now see in the description that it says it is compatible with the Nexus 6. Strange that they would then mention up to 5.7 inch phones.

I ordered mine on 2/3 in the evening. Arrived on 2/6. Ran another test with brightness blasted, GPS and BT. Doing that battery slowly drained.

Really wanted one of these, but a proprietary charger ? I have a cable I threaded through my dash to my last dock. I would have to do that again and find a new bluetooth receiver as it is in my switched plug.
Guess back to the drawing board.
This is end piece going into the device. Its molded to regular cigarette plug on the other end.

Last time I checked with iottie they said that the easy flex wireless wasn't officially supported with the Nexus 6. I have seen info on XDA about mods but I wanted a supported model. Iottie have a new model is in works, but this one is available now.
You run the Nexus 6 on max brightness, stream music using BT over LTE whilst navigating and it still charges? What is the amperage spec on the easy flex? I could look it up but lazy right now

It's 2.1 amp. I don't use my phone on full brightness ever, I usually have it at 50-75% brightness. It's officially made for the nexus 5 but works great with the 6.
These guys are the most unreliable fools I've ever seen. First it's January , then it's June, then it's now. I can only imagine the support they provide....

For half the price you're better off witht the ottie. I ordered it through amazon for about $45.
The iOttie Easy Flex Wireless should accommodate 3.4 inch devices, and the Nexus 6 is only 3.27 inches. So it should fit.
I think the issues is in regards to the wireless charging capabilities. I think I've read that in some cases it couldn't charge because of the "fit".

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for a car dock for my Nexus 6 similar to the pro clip or this fix2car mount http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/f...on-mount-dash-mount-with-usb-car-charger.html[1]
Basically my criteria are that I want to be able to take the phone in and out of the mount without having to attach the USB cable after. I want the USB cable to be fixed and the phone simply slides in to it.
The pro clip would cost me 150$+ and the fix2car one I linked would run me close to 70$. I'm looking for something about half that price.
Hope you guys can help!
Thanks
0 replies on XDA and on reddit, something tells me i'm about to drop a hundred bucks on a car mount... AGAIN!
PSA to anyone thinking about it: DO NOT get the airdock 2, it's a piece of poop and the phone falls off constantly.
If you must have the fixed plug, you could hack one in place with some JB Weld. A lot of guys did just that back in the "old" days.
Or suguru, that stuff works great for something like this. BTW, my airdock works great.

If you would like to charge your phone in a car dock without having to attach USB each time why don't you get the QI charging dock? It is about $35-$40 here in US, probably about same in UK. And will work with non-bulky case.

welllllllll the reason why im trying to avoid a QI charging dock (which btw is not a make or model but the technology, can you specify which model you're referring to?) is because i bought this neato quick charge usb lighter thingy and i'd like to be able to use quick charge..... wireless QI charging is pretty slow and when having the screen on, and steaming music, and using maps for nav, it doesn't actually gain any charge!

Well, I am doing the same, streaming and navigating, with Nexus 6 in the dock, using 2.1A USB lighter thingy and it charges.
I am also aware QI is a technology and not a model. There are quite few of those. I am using this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N4H1R1M?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s01

the problem is that QI will bottleneck your charging. using a quickcharge usb lighter thing will work via a cable but not through QI!
QI will support up to 15 watts of charging in the future, it was actually announced like a couple of weeks ago or something, so future models will support quick charging
I have quick charger at work and at home. In the car I need the dock I can use with minimum effort and without connecting/disconnecting USB frequently

Curious to know if you got the holder yet?
From the pictures on the site, it appears that one of the claws on the top lands directly on the power and/or volume buttons.
Would like to know if it interferes with proper operation?

it can if you have it completely tightened down, but you would not be able to pull the phone in and out if it was tightened down. the way i have it now is the clamp holds on to the lip of the phone but not so tightly that I can't easily put the phone in and out of the dock. The clamp does not press on the buttons, this way.
I am having a nightmare trying to find any USB 3.0/ 3.1 type c to type c (at least 5gbps) cables in the UK longer than 3ft!! I have found a couple of 3 ft ones but I will be using it to charge my S8, there is no way a 3ft cable is going to reach behind my desk and down to the socket. I would also like to be able to use it as more than purely a charging cable, hence wanting 5gbps or the newer 10gbps speeds. I am amazed there isn't a single cable longer than 3ft for it other than a few old usb 2.0 ones which are useless these days (and I suspect won't even charge it at full speed).
Couple of 3ft ones, one by Belkin and one by Anker, but nothing longer (in the UK anyway). There must be a demand for them, connecting a charger will need longer than 3ft for anyone that has it on a desk, and connecting it to the back of a pc of docking station will as well!

They have a few others on there as well that are 6 ft.

I don't see why not use 2 cables. Personally I use 2 cables simply because always having to pull the cable and do what I got to do then put it back from my desk is real bothersome. I don't know how your setup is however.
If you're looking for a cable to use with the OEM charger, the unboxing videos I've seen show the included charger with a USB A connection, so you would need a C-to-A cable. (You might already be aware, just making sure.)

Yeah I am using 2 cables, this is the second one. I already have a 6ft USB C to A cable so that's covered, I just want a c to c cable 6ft and at least 5gbps usb 3.0 so it is somewhat future proof (vs all the usb 2.0 versions I keep finding that are too old and slow for my needs).

Yep I have C to A already. No Idea why C to C at longer than 3ft is so hard to find, I'll just have to wait I guess.
C to C isn't all that popular currently. There are very few things out right now that require C to C.

Both of you are acting like children. The likely reason why its so hard to find is because the manufacturers likely consider the main use-case to be phone to phone data transfer or Phone to PC charge and data. In this scenario most people would want the devices relatively close together. It just might be too early for a cable like it to be widely available. I managed to find 1 (I think) on the amazon UK site. It comes in a pack of 5 cables with varied lengths. It appears they have the cable but I don't see it in a stand-alone pack just yet.

As a new member I can't post direct links yet but just go to Amazon's UK website and search "usb c 3.0 long" and you will tons of options. Not sure why you had such difficulty finding it.
I am looking for 1 Razer phone user as a volunteer to test the sound quality of 2 in 1 usb c adapter which is developed by my teams. It is not a simple project.
If the first guy test the feature is ok, in additionally i will need 10 more volunteers to test the sound quality.
All cost on me. Keep it with you lifetime and report to me if you find any issue.
After developed and tested for half a year, now at my side, tested Google Pixel 2 / XL, Essential Phone, HUAWEI, XIAOMI works well, and feedbacks from other users are the same.
For this adapter, DAC sampling rate max 96KHz with 24 bits, ADC 48KHz with 16 bits. Max 3A output under PD charging. It cannot support QC but the current can reach 1.5-2A depends on your original wall charger.
Some people may ask about safety. The motherboard will take all risks, instead of the connected usb c end or your phone. In the usb c end connected with your phone, there is no components inside. That means, even the motherboard burnt, your phone is still your phone. Moreover, the motherboard is really hart to get shorted, unless you use a 3rd unqualified wall charger.
Then, show me your interests thanks. you can see the design first: amzn.to/2mi2BXL

Thank you for all Razer Phone user friends attention here.

I mean there's no components in USB C end, not the another side.
At the beginning i indeed want it to be the shape like the one in your link. But after tried, it is impossible to make it as a Y shape cable. 2 essential chips set (DAC+Charging) with too many ICs need to lay on one motherboard and work together instead of separated into 2.
If the adapter is not with DAC and fast charging, the answer is yes to manage as Y shape. But you can't use it for Razer Phone.

Have been looking for a USB c to hwadpgone to usb c adapter ordered one and it didn't work. Would love to volunteer to test yours
So I just went ahead and bought one from Amazon as linked, and unfortunately this adapter has a nasty habit of disconnecting and reconnecting power charging. I'm not sure if the dongle is power cycling every 30 seconds or what... Yeah that Charging sound is dinging every 20-30 seconds and it's kinda disappointing.
Thank you for your trying. We have analysed the problem. We confirmed our adapter cannot compatible with Razer's current system. After checked with razer phone, our adapter may work with their next generation system when razer fix system bug.
Thank you for reporting this case. Please kindly return it and get refund! If you have issues on returning via Amazon, tell me and i will refund to you directly.

What exactly is the system bug that is causing this issue? Are you referring to the fact that you're trying to utilize USB-PD and not using QC4+ protocol?

This adapter do be able to charge OR audio either one, but currently the 2 function cannot work TOGETHER on Razer phone.
I also find the same issue on HTC models.
The only reason i can assume is that, these 2 brands' system DO NOT ALLOW people to charge and audio at the same time, unless the brand owner unlocks this limitation in next system OTA.
If you find other possibility, please let me know thanks. I also want to solve this problem but now i have no more ideas to do with Razer Phone's current system.
